I voted for Bush in 99 because I thought that America needed a kick in the ass and would have to stand up to tyrranical views and unite with tolerant ideas... I will never make that mistake again because i had no idea that half of america doesn't know where there asses are to begin with. I truly underestimated this sickness of violent enforcement over peace.

Obama and Clinton have a universal health care reform plan that is mostly the same. This article states that supporters of Obama are wealthy and more intelligent. I wonder how much intelligence it takes to know that a "junior" Senator does not in no way have the wisdom, maturity, or experience to lead this Country. I am a nurse by profession and consider Myself pretty intelligent. I am not swayed by race or gender, but by honesty and a genuine concern for Our Nation with the experience to do the job. I believe Senator Hillary Clinton has those qualifications. I also believe that many are voting solely on race or gender...very sad. I also do not understand this Country supporting or promoting a muslim that does NOT respect or uphold principles that this Country was built on, including but not limited to the saluting the United States flag, or prayer ( but then again it was the Government that threw prayer out the door! ). No, it appears that the People voting are motivated by skin color or hollywood chrisma. I have heard many say that if this Obama wins, They will vote replublican. This is very sad as We have just endured eight years of replublicians!

Nothing more will turn out Republican voters than to vote against Hillary Clinton. The right wing machine has been manufacturing hatred for her for almost eight years. Obama is much stronger in head to head polls than Clinton. That is against EVERY republican candidate.

    • Posted By: nicole493 @ 02/06/2008 11:24:55 PM

Speaking of experience, no one has experience to be president until you BECOME president. Look at Bush, I guess he has a lot of experience. He sent troops to Iraqi to fight a senseless battle and claims that we will win the war. What kind of experience is that? And don't even speak about the gas. Oh my, what an experience it is for me to pump 80 bucks into my tank WEEKLY.

It is regrettable that senseless diatribes are allowed on this site; fortunately for us of us, we have freedom of speech.

Not to take anything away from Hillary, but Obama is exceptionally bright, insightful, a seasoned albeit younger politician with a great record as a public servant. Unlike Hillary, he is not a divisive figure; he has generated a groundswell of renewed interest among younger voters; he has garnered support among a record number of Independents; his supporters represent a broad cross-section of the population (men, women, Black, White, Asian, Latino, Muslim, Christian, Democrats, Independents and some Republicans). Unlike Hillary/McCain, Obama did not support the war in Iraq, he did not side with Bush in a failed attempt to move closer towards military action against Iran. For those of you who are quick to judge Obama-check your facts. He is not as inexperienced as you have been lead to believe. Trust me, Obama or Hillary would be a welcome change from "W" (as in "Worst President Ever"); however, at the end of the day we need a candidate who will garner the support of all Democrats(young and old, Black and white, men and women), as well as Independents and dissatisfied Republicans alike.

We need a leader with vision, intelligence and yes, ???hope???, who will take this country in a new direction!! We need to rebuild alliances with our former allies, reinvigorate the economy, create new jobs and put an end to the influence that corporations currently wield. Hillary unfortunately is viewed as a polarizing figure within the Democratic party. It is believed that she will galvanize Republican support for McCain (bye-bye Republican Obama supporters) we will also lose a significant number of Independent voters (Obama supporters as well!), younger voters may lose their enthusiasm to support a Clinton candidacy and as such, may not show up in large numbers. Hopefully, the superdelegates will be used wisely. An Obama candidacy also has the potential to bring voters out in record numbers for House and Senate races. It???s time for elected officials to get back to the business of being ???public servants??? again. Sowers of lies and misinformation(more lies) need to pick up a real newspaper for a change (New York Times, Financial Times) or listen to a reliable source of information (PBS, NPR Lehrer New Hour, The Daily Show w/ Jon Stewart, MSNBC (Keith Obermeyer) or Bill Maher) and stop listening to Limbaugh and Fox News. One final note: Yes we can make the US a great country again! Yes we can elect a candidate that cares more about US citizens than corporations. Yes we can do better than ???W.??? because we can???t do any worse!

I have had to struggle between my race and what is right. I am a young black college student and wanted very badly to fight for Obama. I did what any young intellect would do of course: I read. I read every internet article and even excerpts from both of his books. His books, especially the appropriately titled "Audacity of Hope" were all about a dream, a dream of equality, a dream of closing the education gap, a dream of a cleaner, more green country... I want to believe that, I really do, but Obama missed one thing: a plan of action. He has no sound plan on how he is going to accomplish these dreams. He is very negative toward industry and business, but unfortunately these institutions carry the tax burden of our society and total alienation of these hegemonic heavyweights would send us back to the stone age. I have been following closely and have heard him say little to nothing about the state of our environment, which should be everyone's biggest concern. Besides the gaping hole in our ozone layer, the ppm of greenhouse gases are exponentially rising with the population. In 100 years of living this "American Dream" New York, Los Angeles, and DC will all be underwater. There will be no need for education for people swimming in their classrooms. The MOST appalling thing is that Obama has done very little to benefit the communities of those, namely the black community, that are backing him. He even had the audacity to ask a reporter not to ask him any questions regarding race. It is an insult to me when he cites Dr Martin Luther King. Martin Luther King readily stood up for the interest of his community without fail and without hesitation. When he gave his I have a dream speech, ultimately it took policy makers to change the laws otherwise things would have stayed the same. Yes, it's nice that Obama is a black man in politics, but to vote for him solely because he is black would be me being racist. Take away his skin color and he is just another Democrat.

Check this out. HIllary is 13 points up from Obama in today's Gallup polls. But, that's not news of course: http://www.gallup.com/poll/104200/Gallup-Daily-Tracking-Election-2008.aspx

Obama is like Paris Hilton, an empty media created vacuum. I wonder if his supporters do know that he does not write his own speeches, but a white guy writes them? I wonder how African-Americans would feel about that.

About the youth vote: Hillary won youth vote in Cal and Mass, where is the highest saturation of smart youth vote (think Harvard, MIT, BU, Brandeis in Mass, Stanford, CALTech, UCLA, Berkeley). Those are so called brainy youths. So, Obama basically wins the dumb youths of this coutry who want to feel progressive and cool, but can't do your basic fact check research.

All candidates have speech writers. However, Barack is very involved in the speech writing process.

???Obama basically wins the dumb youths of this coutry who want to feel progressive and cool, but can't do your basic fact check research???

Wow, are you implying that just because someone can???t afford an Ivy League or big name university that they are idiots? Many people in this country have to pay their way through college and may opt to save money by doing 2 years at a community college before transferring to a university in their home state. I consider that strategy to be very smart. Perhaps it is your ability to ???fact check??? that should be brought to question.

As to the use of speech writers I challenge you to prove that none of the other candidates use speech writers. Having speech writers on staff is is the norm, not the exception. Calling out the color of a candidate???s speech writer only displays your personal need to try and make race an issue in this election. Every candidate is going to hire the best speech writers they can find. But let???s be clear, speech writers don???t set the agenda or define the platform. They polish the presentation of the candidates ideals.

I???m a registered Republican and don???t agree with all the planks in Obama???s platform. I also don???t agree with the all the positions of the candidates of my party. When I do decide for whom I will cast my vote in the General Election in November it will not be based on race or gender, and certainly not on whether the youth vote came from the students of Harvard or those of a local community college. It will be based on who I believe can best lead this county in this time in our history. I urge all who read this to cast your vote with that same application of wisdom.

Hey perkar head, What could you possibly think Obama is doing for America? He is a left-wing socialist in pursuit a classless society, BIG government, amnesty for the illegal immigrants, and is loyal to NO Americans. His loyalty lies in his church that makes no bones about it's exclusive loyalty to Africa and moreover the Eoropean Union. His Muslim affiliation is another issue that should make any level-headed American think twice about this over-educated, under-exposed and inexperienced socialist. You need to get a clue about who is best for the job as Commander in Chief, not just a representative of the "black community".

  • Posted By: bucknut @ 02/07/2008 12:45:17 AM

The Republicans are laughing their asses off with this. What should be a slam dunk will turn into a McCain/Lieberman adminstration and then we are all dead. Democrats get you heads out of your asses. If you drop this one it is over.

"Wealthier and better-educated voters who care about issues like the environment and political reform" are voting for Obama. Who are you talking to? I would consider myself quite educated (formally and otherwise), a major advocate of environmental justice and political fairness, and a voter who sees Clinton as the best choice by far. Her intelligence, experience, and time to have learned from her mistakes are completely unmatched by Obama.

    • Posted By: Karl1215 @ 02/06/2008 9:53:28 PM

In my little experience in life, our past mistakes do not look good in a resume. The other problem with Clinton is that she seems to be the most connected to special interest groups, even more than republicans

WAIT! OBAMA will raise $30 Million in February on top of the $32 Million in January. lol Hillary had to borrow herself (at 820 percent interest) $5 Million. And Her Campaign people will NOT be Paid in February. How will she pay for Healh Care when she doesnt have the Management Skills to Pay her Campaign Employees? LOL Health Care will cost Billions of Dollars... will she borrow that from herself too? LOL

    SHE'S BROKE!

Obama Hussein has Oprah's check book, why should he sweat the money?? Like
Romney, she's got a butt load and SHE wants a black president...Race trumped
      gender...

      • Posted By: Mastersockmonkey @ 02/07/2008 12:43:30 AM

Get your facts stright. Oprah has donated $4600 total to the Obama campaign. He has raised his money from the citizens of this country who believe in him.

      • Posted By: Rinnovato @ 02/06/2008 11:16:30 PM

You really are mis-informed. Obama has a network of over 500,000 people who are donors. He earned $4 Million alone yesterday. Oprah only donated $4,600 to Obama. Hillary went into the money she set aside for Bail in order to help her campaign. When the Republicans release the 120 redacted pages of The Barrett Report, she and her husband will need it.

I feel like I do not know Obama and what he stands for but yet everyone else seems to know him so well that he's the next best thing since sliced bread. I do know that Michelle Obama needs to explain her comment about having to "consider" supporting a Clinton nomination in the general election. This MAN is inexperienced and will get clammed in the General Election if there is a national security crisis like these Bush idiots will be planning.

I am so sick of people saying all the black people are voting for Obama. I am black and young, 22 to be exact, and I sooo NOT voting for him because I have a brain. He has wasted his years in the US senate! And he does not speak for all black people. He is not my leader. He is weak. I don't think he has it in him to stand up to anyone. He certainly hasn't don't it so far. And he didn't do anything in the senate but a lot of talking. All young voters are not for Obama. Some of us study politics and know better. All black people are not for Obama. Some of us care about the state of the country than having a random black president that has no business being president. MEDIA, listen up! Stop saying Obama is the candidate for young people and black people. He is NOT! and all of my friends are also political science students and agree that Hillary or McCain are the only people who could run this country.

I am apalled at your remarks Niki. You don't speak for me, or any other yound African American. I'm glad you can see past the color, and all the hoopla, but do you lack mother's wit? That's common sense. Voting for someone out of loyalty to their spouse is unwise. How much do you know about McClain. I'm gathering not much if you tupically vote democrat. I'm also guessing you know little about Clinto or Obama for that fact. I'll put it to you plainly. It is time for a change. The economy is bad, we are at war , and the poor is getting poorer. The Clinton's may have been good for the period of time they were in the whitehouse but that time has long passed. Some African Americans act like the Clintons have freed the slaves. What they did was the right thing at the time. I was all for the Clintons until I did some research. You need to do some. Yes, some people may vote for Obama because he's African American and those I chalk it up to not knowing any bettter. But there are some of us that formerly supported the Clintons (Bill in office, Hillary in the Senate, and for the beginning of her campaign). But now I know my facts, and I don't want another Clinton in the whitehouse. We don't need a handout, we need a hand up!

I have been reading the comments that various individuals have posted. Most of you seem to put too much emphasis on things that are irrelevant. Such as Obama placing his hand over his heart, and him being a re-breeder, etc. Well, it's ashame to say that Bush was sworn in with his hand over his heart, but apparently it meant nothing because he has sent troops to Iraq to fight for a sensless cause. Gee, talk about protecting and doing what's in the best interest of our country. We can't change or fix someone else's way of life, espcially being that they have been like they are since the beginning of time. I'm not worried about where the hand is. What I'm concern about is the change that our country needs and deserves. Some of you don't put your hand over your heart during the pledge of allegience either because you are too sorry and lazy to do it. Come up with another reason better than that one about the hand over heart B.S.

    • Posted By: Mastersockmonkey @ 02/07/2008 12:40:22 AM

The reason is because people are just masking their racial and religious bigotry. Nobody can come up with substantial reason not to vote for Barack. So, they resort to lies and scaremongering. It's just ignorance.

  • Posted By: Shannon01 @ 02/06/2008 9:12:31 PM

What we don't need is another Clinton in the White House. I will vote for Obama before I think about Clinton or McCain. Yes, We do need change, and it not Hillary. She will do anything to advance with potitical dream. even put up with her lying, cheating husband. Why should women support her when wouldn't stand up for her rights as a women. What is she going to say when shes really confronted with a major US problem. I quess she will say, and act shocked and blame someone else., Her favorite expression "I was just beside myself" when I learned. What a laugh, they are both a couple of jokes. What a pair the two of them are. If we put her in the White House we deserve what we get..

Hillary clintion kept attacking obama, when obama attacked back fools like you jumped in to defend.Cowards,Cowards and more cowards. Why not stop the hate and open your rock hearts, cold and unthankful for anything.Obama cannot help anyone outside of the office right? cant spend campaign money on anything seperate either. We all are sure it will go to charity after this is over.Washington is doing horrible,I think obama should of been office a long time ago.Bush failed because he wanted to destroy and he felt impowered doing so.That nonsense has nothing to do with obama, dont compare obama to bush.Because your silly ass couldnt do 3minutes of the fckin job.

Are you so stupid as to think Hilary Clinton cares about African Americans. Were you born that way or did you bump your head on something? You assume that African Americans are ignorant and stupid and so let's just admit the truth here. That is the real reason why you won't support Mr. Obama. Because I know, you know he's not Muslim, but you would love to plant that idea into other people's minds because you think other people are dumb enough to buy into your ignorance, stupidity, and hatred for African Americans. Why don't you spout your hate on the appropriate site, so to KKK.org, I'm sure they would welcome you with open arms. Then you can move someplace that only has your kind in it.
