This type of article that the MSM writes is exactly the type of politiics that continue to try to divide us. This does nothing positive to being the Dem Party together. The MSM feeds of this type of stuff.

I want to ask Sparkler75 why he and others consider Obama's muslim family ties as a disadvantage for him??!! do you think that someone's being a muslim is a curse?? would you dare to say the same thing about being a jew.....I don't think so.....hypocrites an cowards

    • Posted By: aCaudill@peoplepc.com @ 02/07/2008 11:54:26 AM

Uh, people, Obama's NOT Muslim. He is Christian. He has a Muslim name because his father was raised Muslim (and himself given a Muslim name) and later became an athiest; after all, it is common for sons's last names to resemble their fathers'........ Obama went to a private Muslim school overseas. So what? In many places, even here in the good ol' US of A, private schools provide a better education than public schools. I went to a Catholic school, but that doesn't mean I'm Christian. I'm still Jewish.

IMHO, Obama's Christianity is quite a credit to him. His baptism as an adult is certainly more meaningful than the reflexive, knee-jerk failth of those who only step foot into a church or synagogue at weddings and funerals but still believe that a Muslim-sounding name screams TERRORIST.

If u do not consider it to be a disadvantage, why doesn't Hussein embrace his muslim background and say in his political ads: "I Barrack Hussein Obama, I approve this message"

      • Posted By: One Who Cares @ 02/07/2008 2:40:39 AM

AGAIN I agree totally with julian007 - why doesn't he claim his very heritage? Is it SHAME, GUILT or is he trying to deceive the American population. I believe it is all of the above - Shame, guilt and deception.

If 3% of Obama's doners have contributed the maximum $2300 versus 70% of Hillary's AND Hillary has been accepting contributions from wealthy lobbyists while Obama has not, how exactly do you come to the conclusion that Obama is the candidate for the wealthy? Seems to me the opposite is true. At least, those who use their wealth to purchase power and influence are in Hillary's camp.

Perhaps you're right and Democrats with money prefer Obama. If so, what could explain Hillary's larger per capita donations? Seems to me that those who donate to campaigns based on their beliefs go with Obama. Those who wish to purchase political favors go with Hillary.

Makes sense. Hillary's for sale. Obama's for America.

I was once a big fan of the Clintons, but the old saying if you wait long enough the true face of a person will appear. Well once again the devil has raised its ugly head with the Clintons. The DNC stripped Florida and Michigan of their delegates because they broke party rule by scheduling their primaries out of turn. All the democratic candidates agreed not to campaign in either state, but what does Hillary do she turns and make a sneak attack. The day before the voting she put her name on both ballots, the others remain true to the DNC and their word. Because there were no other democrats on the ballot she won both Florida and Michigan, once again we see how manipulating the Clintons can be. It look like Florida may repeat itself, and I guess the next step is to allow Florida and Michigan to count for the Clinton campaign without any regard to the other democratic candidate or voters. If it looks like a rat, smell like a rat, ?????????.

Clinton will do just fine as president, Obama will do fine also, many of you just don't get IT DOES NOT MATTER who runs the country as long as it is not a person with a BACKWARDS TRADITIONALIST republican mindset. THERE IS nothing wrong with republicans as people, it's their ideology that does not mesh with the american reality we live in,Republicans want to go backwards that has been their agenda since day one., they want to live in fear and convince themselves the world is a big scary place Just Look at who votes for Obama... EDUCATED, WEALTHY and african american people not surprisingly the people who have always beleived in and created a better reality, in fact the reality we live in today, Traditionalist republican are interested in maintaining control and fear through religion and ignorance, thats what this is all about. No one from my generation cares about race, its not an issue, Look at the demographics, white people over the age of 60 vote for clinton, lets stop pretending why, older people as a whole are racist, and feel uncomfortable electing anyone but a white person.

    • Posted By: terravista @ 02/07/2008 10:23:45 AM

obama is a joke and has no plan of action - he will rely on our govt as a well oiled machine and his nice wording of rhetoric to get him thru office - he is not a leader and will be pushed arond on the world front - we need to unite and vote for clinton she is our true choice at savign this country

    • Posted By: bigbrewhaha @ 02/07/2008 3:29:26 AM

Maybe a little harsh, how about they feel less comfortable electing anyone but a white person as president

      • Posted By: One Who Cares @ 02/07/2008 3:42:32 AM

Not true by my standards. A real American will do just fine no matter what color his or her skin is. Not the American who grew up as a muslim in a muslim culture and raised by muslim grandparents yet refuses to acknowlege his own heritage. That SHOULD scare you!!

In Chapter 6 of the book, titled "Faith," Obama writes that he "was not raised in a religious household." He describes his mother, raised by non-religious parents, as detached from religion, yet "in many ways the most spiritually awakened person that I have ever known." He describes his Kenyan father as "raised a Muslim," but a "confirmed atheist" by the time his parents met, and his Indonesian stepfather as "a man who saw religion as not particularly useful." The chapter details how Obama, in his twenties, while working with local churches as a community organizer, came to understand "the power of the African American religious tradition to spur social change." Obama writes: "It was because of these newfound understandings???that religious commitment did not require me to suspend critical thinking, disengage from the battle for economic and social justice, or otherwise retreat from the world that I knew and loved???that I was finally able to walk down the aisle of Trinity United Church of Christ one day and be baptized."[137] He has been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ for over twenty years. Another person that doesn't know what they are talking about... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obama

Thats cool but back to the question of leading. Who has it but Hillary. Be real. Keep it really real. I mean really really real life.. Who is bringing 8 years of WHITE HOUSE experience and a 2 for 1 offer. What in this great country could you bring against that???? Everyone else sit down until you can come up with a real opponent.

            • Posted By: isaacanthony @ 02/07/2008 4:43:15 AM

Obama has more experience than a couple past presidents of the united states, look it up! W and Co. had ALL THE EXPERIENCE IN THE WORLD

Actually Mr. President Bush did not have much experience. Compared to Hillary he was 1st grade and she is first year medical school.

I am, however, worried how the black race will take this. It is my opinion that, overall, they are more self centered and haughty. There is enough of those types in other races too but not as much of a percentage as for the black race... easily defensive, faster to attack and more likely to obstruct others (especially on our roads). My wife is afraid Obama's nomination will create much more of the same. I, however, hold hope that they will see a shattering of the glass ceiling and this will cause less anger to be at the base of their beliefs... with less of these outcomes, rather than more.

terra, what is your deal? MLK was a great civil-rights leader. David Duke was a racist KKK. I'm sure a guy like obama is not what MLK's struggle was for ... i'm sure he would be just thrilled to have a wanna-be "black preacher" man be the historical first black leader of the US.
p.s. what party was David Duke a candidate for?

  • Posted By: One Who Cares @ 02/07/2008 4:27:47 AM

I'll take this back to my first post and I stand by it.

"Comment: What a fun novelty!! The Democratic party is so out on the fringe that they have a black muslim male going against a white female dike. All of this time you thought you were being intelligent / free thinking and these are the people you decided would make this a better country? Next Election why not try for a Transexual male Mexican with a boob job and see what voters "on the fringe" you might get with that one. The Mexicans and the Gay community. You Sure are making America look grand aren't you?!? Let's try the truth for once and forget about being "politically correct" You are vote whores who will do anything no matter how depraved to TRY to win the election. Your minds have been so warped that you logical thought processes have ceased to function properly at this point. You have gone so far out on a limb with your free thinking that there is no logic, common sense or even morality . You have in fact taken yourselve out of the race by your own ignorance for decency and the morality that this country was founded on. "

This is history folks. The fall of the Democratic party during the 2008 elections. Our grandchildrens grandchildren will be reading about this in history class one day.

It is not polite to call a woman such names. It is in this case a dreadful injustice to a Queen of women. I would like to have half of what she has in her little finger. I will never be in a league with them but i am content to be a nurse. Hats off to people with such power, intelligence, grace, upbringing, dignity. I will be content to pray for her but never to be able to stand above her and rail such insults. i wonder who you are and what your contributions are to this country that you feel you could say such an abominable thing?

        • Posted By: One Who Cares @ 02/07/2008 5:02:04 AM

A queen does not brag on national television that she wears the pants in the family. And yet Billary was on yesterday spouting that exact statement. That is the definition of lack of respect.

          • Posted By: kcarizona @ 02/07/2008 5:11:29 AM

A queen does what she wants and is loved by those who love her for what she does and is. The best part of our American Queen is she wears pants, can sit and watch a football game, drink a beer, and eat a hotdog with mustard on her face and clothes and still be more beautiful. She can relate. Our queen can still relate to what we are going through. She is more than a queen. She is a US Senator and in that alone deserves respect!!!

  • Posted By: One Who Cares @ 02/07/2008 5:16:14 AM

one more post..... drrrrrrrrr check this out!

The Canada US border seems to be growing more and more ???thick??? - causing disruptions in our free trade. Canada???s International Trade Minister David Emerson blames United States??? protectionism and aggressive security bureaucracy for the erection of new obstacles to our cross-border commerce.

Emerson said he is hearing more and more ???horror stories??? of companies forced by border delays to warehouse costly inventory on either side of the Canada US border and ???referring to it as a just-in-case supply chain rather than just-in-time.??? He said the post-9/11 security approach among U.S. government departments has led to a raft of new border obstacles, fees and inspections. ???Private companies are in some cases finding they have no choice but to produce on the US side of the border.???

Looking deeper in to this problem, we actually see that both countries have turned their border security agencies over to their respective Customs agencies in the aftermath of of the attacks on Sept 11, 2001. What???s the problem with this? Well both these agencies have historically been impeding the flow of goods through the Canada US border. On top of all this, border security is now big business in the United States. Firms lobby not only Homeland Security but also the US Congress to get their latest goodies adopted.

What???s the solution? We???ll its definitely not Emerson???s anti-American inferiority complex, but rather a more co-operative approach. We are not anywhere in sight of the day where we can scrap NAFTA and start selling all our oil to China. Well sure we need to diversify. But how?

Why are we so dependent on the Canada US border? It wouldn???t take a Nobel Prize winning economist to find the answer - ???geographical proximity???. That???s exactly the problem. Canadian businesses have been relying on that sole advantage to trade with the United States. We need more incentive and support from our government to increase our productivity; in only that way will we able to diversify compete on the global markets. We need to stop complaining about United States acting on its best interest; rather its time we start doing the same.

And as I said THEY HAVE NO SAY, NO POWER AND NO VOICE!! THEY CANNOT VOTE HERE. THIS IS NOT A ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT. CHECK - CHECK MATE

    • Posted By: kcarizona @ 02/07/2008 5:37:48 AM

Best friends will never perfectly synch but best friends are there when needed. We need friends especially our Norther neighbors. Whatever the cost it is cheap! If the rest of the world could only be as blessed as us. Friends to the North, Friends to the South, Ocean all around. Oh yeah baby we stunting, flexing and bling bling blinging.

      • Posted By: terravista @ 02/07/2008 9:07:04 AM

We have to have border control adn a checks and balances system in place . we cannot run things like in africa - look ath the waring tribalism there - is that what you want - beef up the borders. Do it democratically do it sensibly and with a well planned policy - seither of which balack obama can do - VOTE CLINTON she can easily handle this small problem.

The ultimate goal for this election is to knock out the GOP which has done so much harm to our country. I will be voting for the Democrat who is running against the Republican candidate. Both of the front runners are extremely intelligent and truly want to change our current course.

    • Posted By: terravista @ 02/07/2008 8:58:26 AM

Taht is not true, the ultimate goal is to imp;ement a true democrat but balack obama is not that candidate because he has noever donme for any other race except poor balacks. That is racism at its finest. What plans of action does he have? NONE. We need the Clinton change to take effect immediatelyly. Balack obmama is full of nice rhetoric but has not shown fully how to implement how to get it done. This is a racial race for oyur democratic ideas - 90 % balacks are voting for obama and here in birmingham alabmaa where I am foerm they were interviewed leving the poles and didnt mind stating they voted for ihim just to support a blalack presidential candidate. The wrong backing by wrong racial groups whave put hjim on the forefront. Stand up for CLinton someone who will do for all impoverished races and not just the balack race like obama has done (he has noever and never will help the poor ethnic races or caucasion races). We need more than a preacher for president - we need someone who can get teh job sdone. Stand united white p[eople and support your race or elase you'll help elected a demoocratic nominee that is supported by 90% balacks that are racilally supportive - ths ios now a race war - let the fighting begin - burn your areas to the ground if need be but racism breeds raxcism and that is what the balack has united and done thus far in this campaign

  • Posted By: Krazyred @ 02/07/2008 8:49:47 AM

Here we go again ,,, another that would throw our country to the wind because of race. You are not a patriot. You are a traitor when spouting that all white crap. You prefer injustice to peace and base your understanding on the need to control others, and making decisions based on falsehood.
Put it this way...... May all who believe in a heaven-better-than-earth just go on to your heaven and leave those of us who are left to create a heaven on earth, unimpeded.

MLK would be so proud!

  • Posted By: rquick @ 02/07/2008 1:06:07 AM

First of all I have to agree that there is a lot at stake.

It is really and truly amazing that everybody forgets how the Clintons ran the White House. The were subjected to numerous scandals and got caught lying in several instances (having sex with interns and white water). As I am writing this blog, Bill Clinton is under investigation for violating the United Stated foreign policy.

Over the years they have shown that they could not work with the Republican Party. Hillary does not have the experience that she brags about. She was the president's wife for 8 years while he in was in office. When does that count for experience? When she got out of college she went to work as a corporate lawyer. Hillary and Bill have had serious integrity issues time and time again. It is almost like people forgot all the issues and baggage the Clintons had while Bill was in office.

Again, what major agendas has she pushed for since she has been senator?

Bill Clinton has seriously disrespected the office of the presidency by his involvement in Hillary's campaign. I ask the American people this question, if Hillary is the right person why does she need her husband to step in when she losses control? What is going to happen when she is in office and she has to make tough decision on the spot? In New Hampshire she got on T.V. and cried about how tough things are. Again, this was the 2nd contest out of many. New Hampshire was the not the last state that was going to determine the Democratic node but she cracked under pressure. Last point, Hillary can't pay her employees because of budgeting issues. If she can't run an effective campaign in paying her employees, how can she effectively manage and help balance the budget for the United States? I think America needs to think long and hard about what type of personality and character that is going to lead America for the next 4 years.

    • Posted By: terravista @ 02/07/2008 8:30:44 AM

yes they were bit they are more than just preachers with nice rhetoric and they will do for all races in poverty not just for the balack rack like balack obama has alwasys doen - balack obmama has never doen anything for the impoverished whites in his life - he is a self serving racists and his wife is full of hatred and possesses a deep angry attitude. VOTE CLINTON

I find it truly sickening that at a time when the whole World needs an American President whose integrity they can respect and know that decisions will be taken on as objective a basis as is practicable, the ultimate selection of the Democratic candidate will depend on men and women who will be seeking to feather their own nests rather than elect a leader of principle whose allegiance will be to the entire gamut of his fellow countrymen. Seen from the heart of Asia by a descendant of a great `American the choice of Obama seems so devastatingly obvious a choice that I fear for the World if Americans of all colours, creeds, sex and political orientation cannot subordinate their private interests to the greater good of the nation and the World at large. Glib talk of brown/green/grey/black is typical of the cosmetic analysis that bedevils journalistic commentary. Neville

Let us not forget the hundreds of thousands of people in Serbia and Kosovo killed by the Clintons during his presidency by way of 38,000 bombing missions run just inside of 10 weeks. That cost a LOT of money but more importantly it cost them over 300,000 deaths because of the lie Clinton fabricated about mass graves containing "hundreds of thousands of bodies". They found just short of 600. Still a lot of bodies, sure, but nothing to justify his actions that the country turned it's back on.

As a registered republican, I will throw my hat in the wing, and say that Obama is the first Dem candidate that I have been wowed by ... ever. That being said, if he comes in as the Democratic candidate, I will vote for him. I will not vote for Hillary, since, to me, she's shown an amazing lack of self-respect by being a "powerful" woman who's stayed with a liar and a cheat. Bottom line. And, yes, that is a personal judgement, but that's politics, right? It's PERSONAL. I don't automatically despise anyone who wants her in office, just as I don't look at people with a different religion, creed, or color of skin as evil. But Obama is such a positive candidate, with the impetus for change driving his campaign, that I am compelled by him. I believe there are a lot more republicans like me, that would swith their ticket for Obama. I honestly don't see that happening for Clinton - she's not loved by most right-wingers.
If the superdelegates are smart (OK, yeah, they're politicians, it's a 1 in 4 chance) they'll put Obama on the ticket for the Commander in Chief. He'll be able to sway the vote.
As far as his being accused as a pot smoker (anyone remember "I smoked but I didn't inhale" SHEESH!) and having Muslim family ties (has anyone been able to successfully change their family history? ARe you voting for him, or for his ancestors?), get over it.
What we should learn as a country, and as individuals, is that it matters not where you come from, it's where you're going. And Obama seems to be the one to have a clear positive vision of the future.
    OBAMA IN '08! (It's catchy, isn't it?)

A woman who stands by her man? Oh yeah!
Pot smoker? Legalize it and make money and so many other advantages too numerous to debate here? Oh yeah! I vote Hillary.

Hello world. I don't have a lot to say too often so I'll be brief... Question for the past few years I've been hearing that people all over the world hate Hillary R. Clinton, Why? Liberals and Lesbians feel that she isn't left enough for their taste and call her a conservative. Christ wielding Christians and Conservatives feel that she'll make everyone poor and gay so they call her the most liberal soul in all creation. I am a black man living in Louisiana and like a good deal of people in this bracket plan to make her our choice for our Dem. representative. I feel that she is one of the few people who are taking a realistic look at the job ahead and have a realistic view of the work that is ahead.
Obama is a black man that We in the black community have soon too many times before. they'll be around to inspire false hopes ,make empty promises ,and deliver the world to everyone except the ones whose votes put them in power. I do believe that there are many black men alive today who can handle the responsibilities of being POTUS but st this time, not him. His character is flawed and no one is sober enough to see it. Question... If he was brave enough to oppose the war before taking office and after being elected take no steps to impede or defund it what does that make him? A coward. If he then uses those statements to then attack people who thought at the time that they were defending yours and ours safety and ignore his own voting record what does that make him? An opportunist.
The late Dr. Martin Luther King said that he wanted his children to be judged by the content of their character and not the color of their skin... That is a sword that cuts both ways... Not an exclusion
