Since when should the wealthy control the people?

  • Posted By: uclababe @ 02/06/2008 11:52:24 PM

Interesting...Pre-Super Tuesday, the media was talking about how the winner of CA was going to be the nominee for the democratic party. Let's see, Hillary was the CA winner and yet the media chose to downplay her big win. Doesn't it seem like the media (run by a majority of males) secretly want Obama Hussein to win? There is one thing I vividly recall learning in my college political class about the media, they are "King Makers." The media can make you or break you. Message to you "King Makers:" (We) the people are not stupid, we know you are secretly wanting Obama to win because you CAN'T stand the thought of having an intelligent woman become YOUR commander in chief. It's a threat to you. Furthermore, stop using the African American's "movement" for your own guilty pleasures. A movement which by the way is all fake, the real movement was in the 60's with MLK; A TRUE leader.

The media didn't downplay her win, they were just anxious to see if Obama could win. The media seems pretty excited about somebody being able to compete with Hillary the way Obama has. Everyone thought, with Hillary's popularity, that she'd have cleaned the race by now. As much as I think that the media can really do damage, I must say that I understand the excitement.

Obama should not be verbally attacked because he is black but because he is a muslim. He denies his own religion. He was born in America raised in Indonesia by his by his muslim grandfather in the muslim community and immersed the muslim culture. Hello??!?? Please keep in mind that the muslims wish to kill the infidel. Infidel being anyone who is not a muslim. I don't feel comfortable having a muslim running the United States of America. I believe that the African American is just as much of an American as the white American and should be treated as such. Racism is by definition treating one race differently than another ie giving African Americans grants, Entitlements, special considerations in colleges " How to go to college for free if you are an African American" - a book I read while filling out applications for student loans during my daughter's enrollment in college. Yes they are Americans and should be treated with equality. They can and should run for president. They should not be allowed to pull out the race card and use it. That's racism at it's most twisted. I don't support Obama because he is a muslim and I don't want a muslim or a woman running the country. I am a woman and I am intelligent enough to realize that countries were not meant to be run by women. The man is the head of the household. Consult your bible for further instruction on this matter. Thusly I do not wish for a woman to be the head of my country. It is not the way God intended it to be. So between the two you have a woman doing a man's job or a muslim running our country. Bad choices Democrats on both counts. Learn from your mistakes and choose wisely. The fringe is not the heart of America, it's merely the fringe.

Who the hell are you to tell him what his religion is???? Just because he was born in a country that is muslim does not been he has a part of the Muslim religion. HELLO! I am black and my ancestors where from all kind of tribal religions, but they were brought over by slave ships and was taught different religions. Like Christianity. He says he is Christian and he attended church most of his life. Who are you say what his religion is and what he is turning his back on. We have a President in office who ancestor were apart of the Klu Klux Klan. But he made it to Presidency,
People need to stop personally picking out things they don't like about a person, but what they can do for this country. This is whay other country's donot like americans.

      • Posted By: One Who Cares @ 02/07/2008 3:05:16 AM

Put your ancestoral race card back in your pocket it just doesn't fly in the real world anymore. 1865!! is when slaves were freed. My ancestors came to America from Germany and I'm white and I don't play a German American Card!! Let's wake up now and start looking at reality. If you want to be treated like an American quit using your race card. Consider acting and conducting yourself like an equal. And quit playing the "ooh my ancestors were slaves" game. Stand up and be an American. You are no more a victim than any other American. Treat yourself and your race with respect. You are not an African American no more than I am a German American. We are all Americans.

You are so naive. You are recyling what is s cheap silly ideology. Obama will go for 2008 presidency either you like him, or not. We never like Bush but he went for it. so Take easy woman. Or maybe you wanna go for it. hahaha

    • Posted By: Sgt0506 @ 02/07/2008 1:12:14 AM

Well I am a United States Marine and I did serve in Iraq. Where I met many muslims and not all are out to kill the "INFIDELS". You are so concerned about him being a muslim but look how well Bush did as president. Well him being a white man from texas and all. People here make absolutely no sense read the "DECLARATION OF INDEPENDANCE" .......ALL MEN ARE CREATED EQUAL. I believe that is in there for those of you that never read this historic document that founded this country. I served my country and I served next to Muslims, Christians, Catholics and atheists. Everyone of them fought for YOUR freedom. Now stop being so damned ignorant and listen to what these people are going to do for your country and how they are going to help the important things in your life that EVERYONE OF YOU TAKE FOR GRANTED EVERY DAY!!!!

    • Posted By: Sgt0506 @ 02/07/2008 1:01:29 AM

Well I am a United States Marine and saying that all muslims are out to kill the "INFIDEL" is as absord as your entire comment on Barack Obama. I served in the war in Iraq and met many muslims that were not out to kill everyone else other then muslims. As I recall in history every war prior to the 1800's was based on religion and the catholics and christians were just as bad as the muslims are made out to be. Thats like saying that a person who has german backgrounds is a nazi!!!!

The problem with you most americana is that you're too inwardlooking, You forget that you are World Leaders. The world is looking to America for leadership in democracy, justice, equality etc.
Just imagine the big beneficial change that will come the American way if Mr Obama wins the Presidency of the United States of America.
    1. He unify the world by making nations stop and rethink their relationship with the US (most of them will be positive).
    2. Alqaeda with have very litle to use to fight america because they see in Baraka a leader reaching out to all and not a threat their religion. In fact (osama and deputy) will become irrelevant because most of their follower will abandon the stupid belief that America and the west are the devil they must defeat.
3.Obama will bring good tidings to the american soil because the whole world will be so mesmerised and and at a loss for any negatives againist america. The world will give Obama the benefit of doubt because we believe America will once again become a friend and a leader of the world.
    4. Goodwill of the world is the Key to American security, it's economy and employment oportunities.

Please stop and think (imagine) of the above and more.
As for me, if I were american, I would've voted for the man in the Domocratic Party.

If you were American.... I'm sorry but if you are not an American you do not belong in this discussion. I hope we all can at least agree on one thing, Republicans and Democrats the same. We are all Americans and when push comes to shove we will stand united!!

      • Posted By: Krazyred @ 02/07/2008 2:54:18 AM

I do not agree. Most Repulicans believe in issues that are divisive by nature. A conservative believes in violent enforcement over peaceful tolerance by the very accepted definition of the word conservative. When one believes in a book as the word of god over their heart no good can result. These people believe that God will somehow treat us better if we put forth great effort at enforcing intolerant agendas.

Re: thick&tall - Actually, it was George Bush #1 who reduced the size of the military. Know the facts. Just because you heard something on right wing radio doesn't mean it's accurate. Look it up. But I digress. Obama in 08!

  • Posted By: One Who Cares @ 02/07/2008 2:49:06 AM

In origional constitution there were no parties. There was no such thing Decmocrats verses Republicans. This type of thing doesn't create checks and balances but instead creates a stale mate where nothing ever gets done. Besides that it tears our country in half. Remember first and foremost. We are all Americans... except for the few that stepped in from other countries on this debate and to them I say. This is not your debate and you have no part in it.

  • Posted By: chefpique @ 02/07/2008 2:45:22 AM

Victor, please have more faith in the American people than that. There are millions of Americans that would never judge him or any other black man because of his color. I really want to be more optimistic than that.

  • Posted By: chefpique @ 02/07/2008 2:33:40 AM

To suggest that a left-winger is going to change the world in a couple/few years and then a conservative is going to sweep in and sabotage it is absolutely rediculous. If the democratic party would actually do something that was good for the country instead of their party there would be no danger of it being sabotaged.

    • Posted By: Krazyred @ 02/07/2008 2:42:05 AM

I didn't say "A conservative". That would be foolish, and change the face of the one who is blamed. I am saying a group/groups of conservatives, secretely working to discredit him because of race and intolerance... not realizing they handed the earth over to kaos to make a point.

I was just asking my wife the same thing? Where are the stories of the families that worked for years and had big business take everything when the BIGGEST COMPANY IN AMERICAN HISTORY went bankrupt. How about the people responsible. Hillary and Obama would find justice for us. In that I am thankful that either one of them would care about such abuse.

THE LATINO'S HAVE SHOWN THER VOTING STRENGTH. OBAMA HAS been able to penetrate every part of the electorate except for the LATINO sector. THE REASON LATINO's are coming out in record numbers for HILLARY is because of her HEALTH CARE initiative.
WHEN SHE SAYS UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE THAT IS LIKE HITTING THE "BULL EYE" WITH the LATINO COMMUNITY. THIS ONE ISSUE HAS prevented OBAMA from making in roads within the LATIN COMMUNITY. EVERY LATINO FAMILY IS UNITED ON THIS ISSUE.
OBAMA CLEARLY DRAWS THE LINE AND STOps SHORT OF OFFERING UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE.
THE LATINO's ARE LOYAL TO HILLARY AND ARE THE X FACTOR IN THIS NOMINATION ie. TEXAS and in the presedential election in NOVEMBER. IF NOT FOR THE LATINO VOTE, OBAMA WOULD HAVE WON HANDS DOWN IN NEVADA AND CALIFORNIA and would have picked up more delegates in NEW YORK.
THE LATINO COMMUNITY CAME OUT FOR HILLARY THREE TO ONE. INCREDIBLE VOTING power.
THEY HAVE COMpletely nulified the "white man" vote as well as the black vote.

EnHe is gong to offer it to everyone. HIs point is if they want it they will be able to get it.
Hillary makes everyone get insurance and if they do not, she proposes a fine or garnishment
of wages. Mr. Obama believes that if the cost of insurance is lower, people will want to buy it.
Hillary's plan is not free! It will be paid by taxpayers just as part of Mr. Obama's will.

      • Posted By: bereal @ 02/07/2008 1:03:48 AM

THat is NOT true. Hillary and Nobama's health care plans are nearly itdential -- so you better check your facts before you state crap like that. Nobama just sent out a flier LYING about Hillary's health care plan -- see the Newsweek article on this site to get the real facts and then think about how honest Nobama really is! His CHANGE sounds like the same old lies and politics as usual to me!

        • Posted By: open2u @ 02/07/2008 1:26:10 AM

Just think, Obama looking for Osama! I think you should have to be American to run for the American presidency and NO variation thereof. Not, African American or Latin American or Mexican American. They won't let Schwarzenegger run for President because he is not American or born here. If you want to claim to be anything other than a genuine American, then stay out of politics or go back to where you come from.

          • Posted By: open2u @ 02/07/2008 2:36:47 AM

Obama looking for Osama! Too much of a connection there for me. And in my humble opinion, you should have to be an American to run for President in the U.S.. Not African American, Latin American, Mexican American, etc.. Just be an American not 1/2 American!

  • Posted By: chefpique @ 02/07/2008 2:21:37 AM

Hey Jasmac, RIGHT ON!!! You made a great point and I agree with you completely. President Bush was very strongly supported when the war started but when everyone realized that it was going to be difficult and expensive most people changed their minds. I am a patriot through and through; not a democrat and not a republican- I am a patriot. I was a patriot before everyone was putting flags on their cars and buying American flag buttons and shirts and stickers. I was a patriot before it was fashionable and I suspect you are, too. God bless America and God bless you.

    • Posted By: jasmac @ 02/07/2008 2:36:08 AM

I'm actually not an American. I'm Canadian, but two of my children, and four of my grandchildren live in the United States, and I care deeply for them, and all Americans.. I love what America means to the world, even though there's not much recognition of what the United States does for the rest of us. If I were an American, I suspect I'd be a Republican. If Joe Lieberman were running, I'd have to look hard at his candidacy, but in general I find myself looking at the situation through the eyes of a Republican. Many will be taken in by good-looking or young Democratic candidates, but ask yourself: is there some sinister reason I shouldn't trust somebody with a record of service like that of of Sen. McCain? Lots of talk about change. Into what?? Socialist countries' experience has not equalled or surpassed the success of the American experience. For all its warts, the U.S. adventure in democracy has been the most successful in the world. If your House and Senate are going to be Democratic, think hard before you elect a Democratic president too. Balance comes from a diversity of opinion in government. If you elect a Democratic president, I fear the U.S.A. will move too far left, too fast, and the world will be left without a superpower force for what is right.

Why talk about getting out of Iraq. Since when does America go and do a service for free! We should stay until there is peace in the region and we are payed back. Hillary can negotiate with the most powerful and savvy people on the planet and at the same time be real. Obama would walk into a complex negotiation like that with great intentions and flag a waiving but I would not have my money on him. My money is on the heavy weight, proven to go round after round and still be standing, champ Hillary Clinton. God Blessed America with Hillary Clinton. Oh yea another heavy weight champ is in the ring with her. 2 for the price of one! What could be bette than that!!! Sounds like a no brainer to me.

  • Posted By: kcarizona @ 02/07/2008 2:24:56 AM

End the war? Not until we are paid! Since when does an American do something for nothing? Pay up Iraq for your freedom. That is where the money is- it's due us. How about legalizing Pot and taxing it for a cash of all cash profits or shake the tree and have the big fat guys up top with billions and billions give us a little back. Who is talking about Enron? Prices at the pump are going up and who cares???????? I hope Hillary will stand up and help us. Hillary is the only one who has a chance to make significant change.
Obama is being put in power by big money just like Hilary BUT Obama will be a puppet but not Hillary!!! If there is one thing all of you know it's that you don't go into the ring with her unless you want to get a beating. She has a big fight ahead of her but be real Obama against the world and you have another puppet spokesperson. Hillary against the world with the big man Bill in the corner and look out player- if you be fronting you be dumping quick. God Blessed America with Hillary.

  • Posted By: Krazyred @ 02/07/2008 2:20:05 AM

Here is how it plays out... Obama becomes president and becomes the best thing that this world has seen and then a couple/few years later the conservatives sabotage any good that came of this. They will do this and then blame him for the troubled times they themselves caused. Don't you see that the great peacemaker and the antichrist is the same man only because a president will be blamed for "these times"

  • Posted By: mopar67 @ 02/07/2008 2:16:33 AM

I completely agree with PulSamsara, the concept is ridiculous. How is it that a bunch of old politicians have the power to choose the nomination? Why isn't this the people's choice? Why do we mascarade as a democracy when really it's the powerful and rich who choose? If the superdelegades reverse the wants of the people I say we (the collective body of citizens) take it to whoever will listen and abolish all of our "safety nets" that divide the people's vote from the president's election (delegates, superdelegates, electoral colleges etc.)

  • Posted By: thick&tall @ 02/07/2008 1:13:21 AM

IComment: it is scarey tfor mo ti think or where we will head if by some reomte chance Hillary Clinton were to get elected. Mayby many of you have forgotten a couple of things the other Clinton left us with. First, he set up the terrorists to attact our country by not doing anything about the threat when he learned of it. Second, the economy, . Inflation is here because of higher oil price. Oil price increased because the terrorists reduce the oil flow...Another thought disturbing is: Hillary was in Bill's 'think tank", so Bill will be in Hillary's 'think tank'. The thought of them working together in the White House again is a very scary thought.
As for Obama; I believe it is possible in this day and age for an ethnic person to be elected to our country's presidency, but, one who has much more experience in domestic and foreign leadership...
    Thus, I say, vote Republican.

  • Posted By: cw76@ca @ 02/07/2008 1:56:48 AM

dear krazyred, that doesnt even make sense--if yr stating you are white & u bought yr house in a black neighborhood & an obama presidency (basically i have to assume that by obama presidency you refer to african american since you havent brought up any prevalent issues related to obama's political forum & that you had already brought up race so I have to assume that is the significance that you are referring to) would help you personally because he would not judge his policies by race but by income. How does that make sense when you bring up race in the beginning that you are to be offended by someone judging something on race? How are you not judging something on race when you state an obama? How were you 'forced' to buy a house in a black neighborhood(oh god call the police somebody held you by gunpoint & forced you to buy a house in a neighborhood not ethically conducive to your own)? How is it that you feel obama isn't judging policies on race, but on income, but somehow, someway in that statement your insinuation clearly seems to indicate that others are without allowing us any proof as to how you came to this conclusion? I'm just not sure how it is you have concluded that obama will achieve the set goals you have set forth

    • Posted By: mopar67 @ 02/07/2008 2:09:37 AM

You should really be more clear, your point is undecipherable.
And does spelling out 'your' take that much of your time?

    • Posted By: mopar67 @ 02/07/2008 2:07:20 AM

I think you need to be more clear. I can't even decipher your point. And really, does your take that much time?

    • Posted By: Krazyred @ 02/07/2008 2:04:16 AM

What I meant was that I don't believe that Obama will only help the blacks. I am saying that I will be helped just as much as the blacks in my neighborhood because lower income, not race, will be a good part of his focus for change.

  • Posted By: jasmac @ 02/07/2008 2:09:24 AM

There are so many people posting on this site who express the basest sexist and racist sentiments. It makes me wonder what kind of country the U.S.A. really is. I'm no Democrat, but I felt real social justice happening when Sen. Obama won the Iowa caucuses. It was simply a marvelous moment in the history of the United States. The United States is growing up! A man of colour is being taken as a serious candidate for the highest office in the land. That's historic, and Americans of all political stripes should be proud of that. That said, now it's time to put Sen. Obama's rhetoric to the test. Look closely at Sen. Clinton too. Then look at what is being offered by Sen. McCain. Everybody wants to put distance between their candidacies and the record of the Bush administration. No surprise there, even though when the Iraq war started, most people wanted to flock to the support of George W. Bush and his government's tough position against Sadam Hussein. What short memories Americans have! And how convenient to be able to change your mind when the going gets tough! Lots of 20/20 vision in American, isn't there? Ask yourself: "What was my personal position when the war started, and has it changed?" Please remember, it's not so easy for a president to change his/her mind. There seems to be no shortage of hypocracy.
