It was about time Romney! Boohoo to all those sorry weepers lamenting his departure. He had it coming with all his immigrant hating going on. Huckabee your next. Drop off already. And to all of you ilegal immigrant haters out there, bare in mind that this is a country of immigrants, the only real "americans" here were the ipoor ndians that got screwed over by european settlers.

WHEN ARE PEOPLE LIKE YOU GOING TO GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS, WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT IMMIGRANTS HERE, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT CRIMINALS. THESE PEOPLE ARE NOTHING BUT PARASITES WHO DRAIN THE AMERICAN COFFERS DRY. ONE MORE TIME, IF YOU WAIT IN LINE TO BE BECOME A CITIZEN, YOUR AN IMMIGRANT. IF YOU SNEAK INTO A COUNTRY, YOU ARE NO BETTER THAN A RAT. IF YOU LOVE THE MEXICANS SO MUCH, WHY DON'T YOU MOVE TO MEXICO,

. . . and I'm quite sick of people claiming that those in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) are not Christian. I've lived in Utah as well as other parts of the world/country, and find that most Mormons are a cut above the rest. If they're not Christian, they still live more Christ-like lives than most i've met. If what they believe is weird to you, fine; but to say that they don't believe in Christ as the son of God or that He is somewhat diminished in their faith is patently false and dishonest. I'm of the opinion that it was his faith, and not his politics that buried Romney. While on business I personally spoke to three people in the South who told me they could not vote for him soley on his religion -- because their preacher told them he wasn't Christian. Too many bigots, too many people who would not vote for a Mormon. It's a sad comentary on America.

Wow, isn't religion supposed to teach people to love one another depsite their differences or beliefs. I hope the people of this fine country vote for someone because of what they can do for their country and not for what their religion is about. It is a sad day in this country's history if people cannot get past the color of a man's skin, the religion he believes in or the fact that a woman could be president. There is no need to bash a candidate when all you have to do is vote and you will be heard.

As for Mr.Fineman and his article, it seems that a very large portion of those who read his article DO NOT agree with what he said. In this day and age of technology, the media now understands how much power they truly have to sway the thoughts of the people in this country when it comes to politics. maybe we should consider not allowing CNN or MSNBC to PREDICT any winners. People in California do watch TV and use the internet. As much as we would like to believe a person will vote for who they like no matter what happens, seeing the results too soon does sway the voters to change their minds.

OH wait, CNN is predicting that Hilalry Clinton will win every state in November. Oh well, I guess there is no resaon for me to vote now.

Maybe this article by Mr. Fineman is more of a jewish / mormon thing. Just a thought.

Hillary's running out of money. Anyone who wants McCain to be president should be donating to her and not to him.

This sir is one of the most disgusting pieces of ???journalism??? that I have ever encountered. Although I have always respected your writing, I am distressed and repelled by your bold faced bigotry towards Governor Romney.

Surprising from a man of your reputation. Surprised at how you passed off this piece of bigoted yellow journalism as ???news??? past your respected editorial staff.

You have chosen to take the one decent and honest man in this race and dismiss him and all that he stands for under the wheels of your open bigotry.

Why not report the out and out disingenuity and very personal attacks of Senator McCain and Governor Huckabee towards Romney while he has remained above the personal attacks. Or the open Pharisaical attitude of Mike Huckabee (doing God???s work by destroying the Mormon)? Huckabee = the ???genuine article???? Heaven forbid!

Is this really politically correct 21st-century America in which we live? Bigotry of this sort against Jews or blacks or Muslims (heaven forbid) or Baptists, etc. would draw the certain wrath of the ACLU, NAACP, et al. Why is Mitt Romney and his faith such open game for your rancorous bigotry?

Would love for you to explain.

testpattern--you certailny do not know mormon women or the principles taught in the mormon faith-- what nonsense you spew--where in the world do you get your facts (not)? How un-American!
Let's get to politics and stop bashing people for their faith. Don't you have any decency?
Is this what your faith teaches you--to bad mouth and trod on others' beliefs if they do not coincide with yours?
Please stop spreading lies and go get informed. You are ridiculously ignorant.

One thing I did not understand was hid ads attacking Hillary and saying she had never managed anything. Well he is not running against her at this point so I thought it was utterly stupid that he wasted his message and money on that tactic rather than letting voters get to know him.

    • Posted By: capnmoroni @ 02/07/2008 5:23:19 PM

Beating Hillary is a significant issue to a lot of Republicans. Many people voted in the primaries based on who they felt would give the Republican party the best chance of beating her in a general election. Perhaps in retrospect the money would have been better spent elsewhere, but at the time I believe it was a justifiable decision.

The author, as liberals everywhere do, still can't get it that Americans are conservative and that Mitt Romney lost not because he was one, but because he wasn't able to convey his message. Liberals must hide their true intentions to get elected. They must sound tough on terrorism, while advocating retreat and defeat. They must sound fiscally sound, while promulgating a national health care system doomed to cost billions and not work properly. They must not tell you that they will raise your taxes, but you know they will. God bless Mitt Romney, I hope he is more successful next time. McCain is Hillary lite...

      What constitutes "victory" in Iraq?

  • Posted By: laceybug35 @ 02/07/2008 5:22:31 PM

Mormons or members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints do not do anything to degrade women. In fact, they are set upon a higher degree of respect by the men in their church. They are not issued into heaven by their husbands. Everyone is allowed into heaven no matter their faith or status! God loves all of His children! Going through the veil refers to other sacred ordinances. It is often said "by their fruits ye shall know them". The LDS church has a record of outstanding humanitarian service throughout the whole world, not to mention their wonderful ideas of building up family values to help our future society have a good base which to build upon. If you really need to question whether this Church is full of good works all you need to do is visit any church meeting in your area and see for yourself. It teaches loves and happiness and how to return with honor to our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I feel sorry to see sad things written toward this church by misinformed individuals who are getting their information from other sources rather from the source itself. I wouldn't dream of degrading another religion! A lot of great people belong to other religions! May you all find the peace you need in your chosen religions as I have found in mine. I am a happy LDS woman who is in every way completely equal to my husband, and thrilled that he is my best friend also! Have a nice day!

*** He is a true statesman...Maybe you are unfamiliar with what a statesman is; read about any of the founding fathers. His campaign was derailed not because he is a phony man but a phony politician; trying to be something he is not. ***

HA HA HA. Hilarious. I looked up "statesman" in dictionary and it turns out it's not a synonym for "phony politician." Just a little hint for you.

You are a tool. America screwed this one up bad. We can accept blacks, homosexuals, women, other races, etc...but you won't accept a Mormon. Bunch of bigots. It is pretty sad that Obama belongs to an all-black church...yet that is okay. It is also sad that even Michael Moore said Romney was treated unfairly for his religion. The best candidate will be left out of the race this year. Way to go America!!!

      I couldn't agree more!

      • Posted By: magic823 @ 02/07/2008 2:33:33 PM

Having been Mormon, I certainly didn't want a Mormon for POTUS. Anyone that beleives in that cult doesn't have the critical decision making skills that a POTUS requires. After 8 years of the clown in the WH, we don't need another idiot.

        • Posted By: Cal_Culus @ 02/07/2008 3:24:12 PM

Oh, so you have cornered the market on what is the truth and what intellect is? Who are you, magic823? You 'once' being a Mormon puts you in the position of judge? What an arrogant comment you have posted! What does having 'any' religious beliefs have to do with decision making? Can you prove that Mormonism is wrong? Can you prove that catholicism is right or wrong? Can you even prove that there is 'or' is not a God? No, you can't . . . no one can! Even being an athiest takes faith. You can't prove it either way . . . it's all faith. You either have it or you don't 'and' it doesn't represent in any way shape or form how good your decision making skills are. What a shame that you probably voted or will vote . . . talk about making bad decisions . . . you have!

          • Posted By: magic823 @ 02/07/2008 3:38:29 PM

Yes, I can prove Mormonism wrong. DNA, archeology, BOA (Book of Abraham), Joseph Smith's whoremongering, etc., etc., etc.. Its very easy if you open up the eyes and brain.

            • Posted By: skooby @ 02/07/2008 5:18:59 PM

I have studied all of those things, and frankly they don???t hold up... God as we can all agree, is all powerful and nothing is beyond his capabilities. He created the heavens and the earth by his command only... What???s a little bit of DNA, archeology, etc, etc, etc.

As for Joseph Smith "whoremongering"... learn a few facts first before martyring his name further. Read the Book of Mormon... I have read it many times... and I know that Joseph Smith and his 3rd grade equivalency education could not have written it without the help from God. That is what it boils down to, is the Book of Mormon inspired scripture? For me and my house I know the answer.

              Love and Peace
              Go Mitt in 2012 :)

Magic823 - Get a life, we are discussing the Fineman article, not religion. Go do something useful.

Magic...you are a interesting human being. You need to start focusing your life in a more meaningful direction than saying crazy things about Mormons all the time. Art is nice and cooking might help you rid yourself of this crazy obsession. :)

You are right about Mitt Romney trying to be something he is not; but you are wrong on what it is; He is a true statesman; not a patriot; not a Washington bleeding liberal or a Republican who only cares about the power and the money and the historical fame.
Maybe you are unfamiliar with what a statesman is; read about any of the founding fathers.
His campaign was derailed not because he is a phony man but a phony politician; trying to be something he is not. Sleep on that and hopefully you will wake a true christian and a statesman yourself.

This author is obviously uninformed or terribly biased. John McCainn has double-talked and flip-flopped on a number of issues. Mitt Romney simply took the high road - he obviously cares about our country and the Republican party more than exalting himself, unlike Huckabee or Paul. He was ahead of both of those in delegates, yet he is the one dropping out. You tell me who is soulless. This article was absolute trash. I am a Republican, haven't ever voted another way, but I can tell you this much, McCainn will not be getting my vote, not after what was pulled in W Virginia. Shame on you Huckabee and McCainn, cheers to Romney. You are the only one leaving with any honor.

  • Posted By: agalbrai @ 02/07/2008 5:11:28 PM

The author of this article is clearly uninformed or just biased. McCainn not only flip-flops, he double-talks, and Romney still would be a much more serious contender than Huckabee or Paul, but he had the love of this Republican party and country over himself and graciously stepped down - Something Huckabee and Paul have refused to do. Shame on Huckabee and congratulations to Romney. He was the most qualified candidate and yes he had the courage to step down. I don't know how you call that soulless in light of what McCainn and Huckabee pulled in W Virginia and Huckabee has done throughout the entire campaign. I am a republican, but McCainn will most certainly not be getting my vote.

  • Posted By: Henry Rutgers @ 02/07/2008 5:10:02 PM

This sums it up: "But maybe he really is a soulless throat-cutter who would do and say anything to win".
It's also the perception of the Clinton's, as well as the Bush/Rove administratiion.
The country is tired of it and it's a sure losing formula for 2008.

  • Posted By: Henry Rutgers @ 02/07/2008 5:07:19 PM

This quote "But maybe he really is a soulless throat-cutter who would do and say anything to win." also summarizes the Clintons and Bush.
We are tired of all that.

Christ told the thief next to him on the cross "today you will be with me in paradise" But thre days later when mary saw him he said "touch me not for I have not yet ascended to my father and your father, my god and your god" So,where did the thief go??? Not to god because Christ said he would be with him that day, but that day he wan't with god. So, testpattern, he wasn't saved but was given a chance.

  • Posted By: nccvax @ 02/07/2008 5:06:46 PM

Most people understand that just because Romney's religion has "Jesus Christ" in its name, that doesn't mean his religion believes that Jesus Christ is the son of God. Christians do not believe that one can themselves become a god, like Romney's religion believes. If you truly understand what Christian means, you would know that Romney's religion is not a sect of Christianity. If Christianity was a tree, with Catholic, Protestant, Lutheran being branches on that tree, Romney's religion is a bush planted away from that tree. I am not trying to say anthing negative or offensive about Romney's religion. I just get tired when it is correctly pointed out that it is truly not a Christian religion. As Jerry Seinfeld would say, "not that there's anything wrong with that".
