LDS is not synonymous with following Jesus. "doing" good things is not what Jesus taught. the pharisees "did" good things. but they were not linked to Christ LDS on the surface seems family oriented and loving and in pursuit of "good". thats a marketing "schtick". the inner doors reveal a diabolical cult with rituals and beliefs endorsing "corinthian" pleasures ie, sex. its a satanic, sexually ritualistic, chauvinistic, racist, incestuous, secret society when u walk thru the doors after the door.

    • Posted By: azGuy @ 02/07/2008 4:38:38 PM

Wow...you know the 'secrets'? How did that get out? By the way - whoever told you those things...lied. Yeah - 13 million members who for the most part great upstanding people would stay in a church that promoted these things. You have no logic sir. I can't believe that anyone would believe such poposterous things.

Wow! As a member of the LDS church for over 50 years, I must have missed the "Corinthian" style "satanic, sexually ritualistic, chauvinistic, racist, incestuous practices" alleged by "Tellthetruth." My church teaches me to follow the example of Jesus Christ even in the face of such virulent, bigoted attacks. The followers of Christ have always had to face persecution.

I hope someone 5150's this person....what a wacko! Known Mormons all my life....do not know what religion this person is talking about.

In response to TELLTHETRUTH: Thanks bud, but I've been through all the "doors" and all I can say is that you so full of it, you can probably taste it when you burp. It's really easy to spout off a bunch of ludicrous claims with no backing in an attempt to shock people, but some people actually research the facts. This, unfortunately for you, completely derails your attempt. Thanks for trying.

So far, your comment is the stupidest one by far. Go home bigot, we don't need the likes of you.

    • Posted By: theknowinsamoan @ 02/07/2008 3:36:18 PM

TELLTHETRUTH...What have you been smoking? Go post on a religious nut website. That was the wierdest, full-of-crap, statement about my faith that i have read in a long time.

    • Posted By: comchris @ 02/07/2008 3:35:23 PM

TELLTHETRUTH - You need to get the real story. No wonder this country can't elect a Mormon. What are you afraid of? Give me your address and I'll have a couple of missionaries stop by and give you the truth.

Comment: Romney supporters should relax: chances are 50-50, of course, that he flip-flops and re-enters the race."

You just better hope that YOUR beloved McCrackCocain doesn't flip-flop-floop-andScoop in the White House. Remember he flips for the worse - not the better.

    • Posted By: brian.glanz @ 02/07/2008 4:38:37 PM

In fact, I do not support McCain although I do believe him to be an honorable and honest man.

I accept your apology in advance.

  • Posted By: daves 2 cents @ 02/07/2008 4:38:36 PM

Flipper Mitt was no more conservative than John McCain! Here was a guy who took several liberal positions as Gov. of Mass., then flip-flopped to a new set of positions when he decided to run for Pres.

It is difficult to convince your party that you are authentic when you finally reach your political puberty at the age of 60!!

  • Posted By: mad notcher @ 02/07/2008 4:38:29 PM

To all the Romney Lovers out there who compare him with McCain.
One went to war. One stayed home to be silver spoon fed by daddy.
Which one really should be president in a time of war?
I'm tired of unquailified presidents. Bush was enough

You are so wrong in your analogy, saying the Republican Party damaged this country.

I tell you if it wasnt the Republicans Party, Saddan Hussein would still be there threatining the whole world but very specially America and more...Bin Laden would have by now conquered the whole middle east...Libya wouldnt have given up it's way...and this to mention only few...of the many thousands of horrible things would be happening right now this minute all over the world...., so because of Republicans, we have Saddan dead, Bin Laden on the run...a running that i am sure will be over before Beloved President Bush leaves office.

So, stop your millings about the Republican Part.

I tell honestly the Democratic Party have good people too, but they are not up to the TASK s ahead of us.

They are only good for times of PEACE not times of WAR and I tell you for the next 100 years it is WAR, WAR, WAR...everywhere!

It will not be easy to defeat the evil confronting us...but surely we will prevail, we will be victorious...but not if a Democrat is President.

For the next 50 years a Democrat can not be President of United States of America. This is a sad and simple truth. Nonetheless, the THRUTH.

Democrats are dreamers of a better world, of a peaceful world. But PEACE is not achieve through dreams...it is achieved by actions. Actions many times hated by most...as is your case. Most people dont like wars, but wars are both, inevitable and necessary. ..for Peace.

    • Posted By: cam4306 @ 02/07/2008 4:36:13 PM

I read your comment twice and it still doesn't make any sense. Your assertion that the Middle East would have been conquered by Bin Laden is laughable. If you don't believe me, ask any General. Your other statements are qually absurd. Gee I thought FDR was a Democrat and didn't we have a little war going on when he was in office. You need to read a little more.

  • Posted By: KKT79 @ 02/07/2008 4:34:49 PM

What an insulting article. Mitt is the most intelligent & capable man out there. Just because the media decided they did not like him and because he is a mormon people did not accept him. McCain has changed his mind on more issues than Romney has. McCain can barely decide if he wants to remain a republican. Romney on the other hand changed one policy because of personal feelings and experiences. He ran an amazing campaign and I am incredibly sad to see it end! If only there were a decent candidate left to choose from.

  • Posted By: steve02001 @ 02/07/2008 4:26:56 PM

As a liberal Democrat it makes me happy to no end that Romney is out. Why? because that leaves the GOP with McCain and that will stick in the craw of "The Commedian" Rush Limbaugh, Ann "The Witch" Coulter, Hannity and the rest of the right-wing idealogues who can't stand him. The era of right-wing-extremism is OVER!! May it never rear-up its uggly head again.

    • Posted By: MinnesotaPix @ 02/07/2008 4:34:21 PM

SteveO2001 - you are right on target. Even though I'm more to the center, I am completely fed up with the pompous attitude of the likes of Limbaugh and Hannity. We got what we deserved for allowing them to tout Bush in 2000 (or was it that they just trash anyone that is not to the extreme right). This election will show that their time is over, their credibility (what there was of it) is totally gone.

A truly tasteless article from a pathetic nobody. Romney bowed out of the race for the good of the country and the party. He is a fine man; the classiest of all the candidates. Romney will be back. Romney has risen from every setback he's ever had. As with all critics, there will be no monument for this author. Howard Fineman, your a disgrace to yourself and to your profession.

I don't agree with Howard Fineman.

  • Posted By: tlworkroom @ 02/07/2008 4:32:53 PM

"Over the last decade, he [Romney] had changed his views....." So he's writing that taking a whole decade to change one's views is being dishonest, disgenuine, and flip-flopping? What about McCain who seemed to "find himself" within only a few weeks or months, happily just as the campaigns got started? Especially concerning topics related to legislation he co-sponsored over past few years. I guess now that he's better situated with his ideals, he'll now sponsor legislation to erase all those previous bills that he got passed.
It only seems right, considering his sudden and current realization of how wrong he previously was........

  • Posted By: whala @ 02/07/2008 4:32:21 PM

To all Romney haters, I challenge any reader to list 3 valid issues that Romney changed positions on aside from his admitted change from Pro Choice to Pro-Life. You all throw out the label of Flip-Flopper, and NEVER back it up with any facts. If you have them, bring them.

McCain's address to the conservative movement isa sellout of his country.

The recent scandal at Walter Reed in which the Washington Post stated that the White Hosue pressured the Army to privatize the care of our wounded troops. The privatized company cut the staff from 300 to 50, with no mention of adjustment in payments, and turned Walter Reed into a cesspool for our troops. The general in charge was scapegoated and the Army refused to let him testify before a Senate investigatin committee according to the ArmyTimes. The conservatives who raped our wounded troops undoubtedly have Support our Troops bumper stickers. This is the level of ethics that we are dealing with in the conservative movement.

The subprime mess is another example of getting government out of our lives. We had established, over many years, solid guidelines for extending mortgages to home owners. The guidelines were trashed, the greed and coruption took over and we ended up with total anarchy in the financial markets.

As for the legislation on invading our private lives. If either party has unlimitted acces to our private information, without effective supervision, it is absolutely inevitable that the signifcant percentage of power hungry, ethically challenged politicians in Washington D.C. will find a way to abuse the authority that they have been given. We have been there many times before including J. Edgar Hoover (FBI) collecting data to intimidate and/or blackmail politicians.

I will close by saying that Iraq is not a high school football game and that we are not going to have a clear victory. It is still a mess - damned if we do and damned if we don't. Our biggest problem in pullng out may be that the controlling Shia Iraqis may form a close alliance with Shia IRAN and Hezbollah. The Iraqis have already expressed their gratitude to us by awarding contrats exceeding a billion dollars to China and Iran. Anyboy who still thinks invading Iraq was a good idea needs a mental exam.

I can support McCain. Perhaps what this country needs is a more moderate approach. The two-party system is a little screwed up right now. All they do is argue with each other. McCain has the guts to not be held hostage by his party. Go McCain!!.. (However, if Huckabee is on the same ticket I will not know what to do. I could never vote for Huckabee. So if Huckabee is on the ticket...I will pray for an Independent to enter the race and rescue us)

"Over the last decade, he [Romney] had changed his views......" If changing your mind over a decade is being dishonest, disgenuine, or flip-flopping, then what do you call congressmen and politicians who do it in a mere few hours or days??? McCain seemed to change his mind on many things in a few months, luckily just as the campaign was getting started, especially about things with which he helped co-sponsor legislation on!! So that means that he'll sponsor legislation to erase his previous "mistakes"?

No class Mr Fineman. No class.

America would be lucky to have a President as capable, intelligent, qualified, and accomplished as Mitt Romney. Even in stepping aside, he showed incredible class...something you didn't seem mature enough to do yourself in your final parting shot.

This is the most vicious and totally untrue article that Howard Fineman has ever written. Mitt Romney explained the reasons why he changed some of his positions along the way in his political career and his reasons were all genuine and clear. How dare Howard Fineman slander an upstanding and intelligent man like Mitt Romney? I am extremely disappointed.

This article and the member comments miss the real point of this election, which is that most of the American electorate is totally disgusted with the right wing of the Republican Party and the enormous damage that its servants in the White House have done to this country over the past eight years. Only a candidate who can capture the political center of the country can win in November. Fortunately for the more moderate and reasonable voters of this country, the Republican Party is now being torn to shreds by people who are so blinded by political ideology and religious extremism that they cannot see the bold faced, all caps writing on the wall.
