Has Howard Fineman ever written or said anything positive about a conservative. It is almost sickening to read a journalist like Mr. Fineman accusing someone of hypocrisy. Howard Fineman has been pretending to be something he is not for years...an OBJECTIVE journalist. He spouts his liberal bias weekly on "Hardball." And let us not forget that this same Mr. Fineman, who seems to question the "class" of Romney, piggy backed his career on the back of Imus...Yes, Imus, that champion of poitical correctness and tact. You guys taken in any Rutgers games lately? Te best thing Fineman ever did was leave the Courier-Journal in Louisville where I live...That paper is almost readable now.

Howard: Who set you up as the authority on an individual's character? I don't see in your biography where you even interviewed the man you are being critical of in this piece. But you did interview all other leading candidates. With biased and maligning articles like this it is you and Newsweek who lack principle and character. For 7 years you lambast George Bush for sticking to his guns and not being willing to change, compromise and amend views or principles but when Mitt Romney comes along and changes opinions or amends a value system you lambast him for being a whormongering political nymph that will change on a dime. When maybe he really believes in the changes he made. Either way George Bush or Mitt Romney can't win because they don't measure up to your bigoted and biased value system. Who really is lacking integrity and moral conviction here! You say and do what is expedient for you and a beleagured magazine and not what is out of conviction. You must have left your character at the door the day you joined Newsweek!!

Another thought Howard, and I am totally serious. This is really serious. It is not a shot at you.. I think you know and I know that you secretly have "man love" for Mitt and that is why you are so vicious. Why else would someone hate another person so much and write such dispicable things about someone who doesn't even know your alive or harmed you in anyway. A thoughtful intelligent article that is critical of someones' positions on issues is one thing but the vendictive mean spirited trival that you call journalism is another matter. It is obsessive and filled with hatred.. Mitt has driven you off the reservation. You must save yourself, get a grip on your emotions, and admit your LOVE hate relationship for this innocent man.. I understand your need to be noticed by him but this is a very disfuntional way off doing it. Next time you want to crucify a good decent man think twice, breathe deep, back slowly away from your computer, and examine your feelings for him. Howard, Freud said "Love is a frantic and savage master" Get a grip on your emotions, be a man and apologize to all your readers.

Well, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but Mitt Romney is an authentic family man, who ran in a liberal state against very liberal opponents. It's not hard to look at Romney, and the way he has lived his life, and believe that his is authentically conservative at his core. Did he shift to the right on policy in the primary? Yes, but the shift suited him.

As far as Huckabee being a serious candidate . . . he won the approval of the MM because he is personable, but he won Iowa because 60% of caucus voters were Evangelical. Otherwise he was a smooth talking, policy lightweight who used his religion in a very caustic way.

Romney will be back and when he returns he will have found his conservative voice. He was new to national politics, but more genuine that most in this primary season.

You are clearly a person who does not know what he is talking about. Get out of you bias boat, enter into reality and write something that is worth reading!

Has Howard Fineman ever written a flattering or postive column about a Republican? It would difficult to recall one. But of couse Howard is above any hypocrisy himself, I mean he would never try boost his exposure by piggy backing on Imus in the Morning...Fineman, you have been trying for years to be something you are not...OBJECTIVE..Howard Fineman, DC Chairman

I was Hewitt fan from the first time I heard him on a Sunday night in LA. However, he lost a lot of credibiloity in my book when he took sides in the Republican nomination process.

What I don't get about you Mr. Howard Fineman is that you and your liberal political hacks have lambasted George Bush for 7 years about being too convicted to ideals, programs, the war etc. and yet when someone (Mitt Romney) comes along who is willing to listen, change and adjust not just because it's political but maybe because he really believes in changing his ideology, you want to lambast that person also for being insincere and lacking in character. Come On! Which is it! You want someone to hold to principle or you want someone to be willing to listen and change. Either way a conservative can win based on your liberal leanings. They will always lose in your pontificating world of bias and untruth. Where is your character. I think you left it at the doorway when you joined Newsweek!!

I believe that any American that bashes someone of there religion just pack there bags and move back to Europe. Those people to believe in the Constitution that our founding fathers drafted, no test means no test, yet you continue. Liberal are ruining this country. If George Washington could see America today he would cry so much that he would die of dehydration. Just to point out that I'm Christian. Look at the issues and what that perosn can do for America and our future not what his relgiuos believes are.

You say Mitt is not a conservative huh, well I say your UN-AMERICAN!!!

    • Posted By: mrtuttle @ 02/07/2008 8:45:52 PM

What is so un-American about saying someone is not conservative? It sounds like you are trying to supress the very speach you say you are fighting for in the military. This is coming from someone who proudly served in th emilitary when serv ing in the military was not considered cool.

Romney failed because of the anti - Mormon bigotry of Huckabee and his so called " christian " supporters who arrogantly claim that Mormons and Catholics are not "real" christians. These peckerwood baptists would rather see a Democrat win, than a great man like Romney. What a shame.

    • Posted By: cons3rvative @ 02/07/2008 8:44:19 PM

Romney failed because he flip flopped. It has nothing to do with religous bigotry. You mention the Catholics? The catholics are some of Huckabee's biggest supporters. I think you are little angry, and more than a little confused. Can't you see that Romney changed his positions on important issues? Don't feel bad, 4 million others were duped as well.

Given the very hyperbolic tone of Mr. Fineman's article-"maybe he really is a soulless throat-cutter who would do and say anything to win", I am surprised and delighted to find that Mr. Romney's chief character flaw is flip-flopping! I've changed my mind on a lot of things in the last ten years-that's what happens if you live long enough and you keep your mind and heart open. I had no idea it was such a singular and peculiar circumstance! I swear I'll never do it again if it can lead to being called out in such perjorative names. I think the author finally comes clean with the real issue when he states that Romney only " won his home state and the states in the West where Mormonism was familiar". Next time you run, Mr. Romney, you might want to think about flip-flopping the Mormon thing since it clearly puts Mr. Fineman in a bad mood. Religious bigotry is religious bigotry whether it's aimed at the Catholics, Muslims, Mormons, Hindus, Baptists etc. etc.

    Hey mrtuttle -

Tell your boyfriend fineman that he's an idiot.

    • Posted By: mrtuttle @ 02/07/2008 8:41:56 PM

I'm no Fineman fan but I am willing to give him credit when he is correct.

Another thought "pathetic little Howard" I am quoting another blogger " I would rather vote for a man who eventually comes around to my way of thinking than a man who keeps giving me the finger" Republicans will understand that comment. If you degraded and maligned all the candidates the same way you have Mitt Romney your bigotry and uncontrolled jealousy would not be so obvious.. I sincerely feel you need to seek professional help because you have made yourself look like a small ,mean spirited insignificant writer who lives in an echo chamber consisting of the MSM "group think" and you cannot raise above your own pettiness. I think that is why Mitt Romney has so obviously gotten under your skin. You will never measure up to the high standards and excellence he represents. You need a real job, in the real world, and then write your "snarky" inane articles. Mitt Romney will be around a lot longer than you if you continue to write such superficial crap.

A Liberal you are. I guess your on the Clinton campaign. Jerk.

What a great day for america and the people. We finally got the "Sack of mitt" out of here. Now hopefully I can turn on the news without some idiot saying how great mittsy is when everyone knows he a nothing but a "lying sack of mitt".

    • Posted By: JeremiahGrant @ 02/07/2008 8:37:00 PM

Care to enlighten us with any subtantial "lie" Mitt supposedly uttered? And yes, before you go there, we heard the one about the "lifelong hunter" already. I'm looking for something material, substantial.

If not, why don't you put your hateful, bigoted self to sleep for a few years. You could use the rest.

You know, I love being a soldier in the U.S. Army. To protect the freedoms we have today and will always have. The one I love the most in the first amendment . I protect your right of freedom of speech, even hard core LIBERALS like yourself, and on this day after reading your article I wish you could walk through the streets of Baghdad yelling I hate Islam and see what happens. Love your rights but don't bash an honorable man such as MItt.

  • Posted By: mrtuttle @ 02/07/2008 8:35:37 PM

Finally a commentator who gets it. Fineman understands what most of the new media failed to understand but what many conservatives, including myself was able to see. Romney is a phoney.

When Rush and the rest of the new media panned Huckabee, they cleared the way for McCain to get the nomination. McCain should write a thank you letter to Rus, Hannity, Levin, Hewitt, Quinn and others who tore down Huckabee in a futile attempt to build up the phoney Romeny.
