Jeffrey Meffert should go lecture somewhere instead of pseudo treat patients...as an on again off again dermatological patient since childhood and now 54, show a little compassion, please. I have worked for numerous physicians and from both patient perspective and caretaker/nursing pers[ective, I know that a little kindness and lending an ear (not an overdose of sympathy) goes a long way in the healing process. So whajt if this is not a "real" disease caused by bacteria or a genetic flaw...what if the mind plays an important role by "causing" the symptoms for whatever reason. Let's try to alleviate the suffering. Sometimes there just are no answers, but pain is real and a doctor who is worth his salt would CARE for his patient and seek a solution or welcome a cure.

For years I suffered with what I was certain was a parasite infestation. After about 20 years, apparently the lab technology caught up and I was diagnosed with what is considered to be a benign type of flagella critter called blastocistis hominus, that lives in the gut. Now, six months after treatment and starting a high-dose vitamin supplement program, it seems most of my symptoms were from malnutrition (hair loss, joint pain, low energy, dry skin, depression, insomnia, poor circulation, inadequate muscle tone) and every week I am feeling younger and healthier - better than I've felt in a decade, and my mousey grey-brown hair is turning golden brown again. The strangest thing was how my depression lifted just three days into treatment, and hasn't returned. I could tell my newest physician was skeptical when I asked for the parasite tests, but thank goodness she ordered them. I think it saved my life.

For 6 years my sister complained of a pain her lower right side where her ovary was doctors told her it was a pulled muscle and that nothing was wrong. Finally it took some one with the time and patience and KNOWLEDGE to that her ovary was fused to her bowel and her fallopian tube she is only 27. Now she may not be able to have kids. No one knows all the answers to everything and I wouldn't expect that but when a patient goes to a doctor they are looking for reassurance and an answer to their problem. All we can do us pray

As a student of Homeopathy I would suggest that those suffering with this condition should seek the help of a Homeopath. Homeopathy may not give them the reasons why they are impacted by this condition or for that matter the symptoms that are manifesting, but it will certainly bring them relief. A homeopathic remedy is cheap and will not impact the body as modern drugs with it's harsh side-effects.

Comment: Morgellons Disease May Be Linked to Genetically Modified Food
Sunday, April 13, 2008 by: Barbara L. Minton

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has given care giant Kaiser Permanente over $300,000 to test and interview 150 to 500 patients suffering from Morgellons Disease. The study will be done in northern California where many Morgellons patients live.

Prior to this news, people had written off the disease as a hoax or the result of hypochondria. But recent evidence suggests that the disease is indeed real, and may be related to genetically modified (GM) food.

???Skin Disease May Be Linked to GM Food???, Whitley Strieber???s Unknown Country, Oct. 12, 2007.

CHECK THIS OUT: http://www.carnicom.com/morgobs6.htm READ Excerpt: If I flat out told you that you had at least 4 different pathogens growing in your body right now which are reassembling in the body to turn into nanomachines which are internally microchipping you, making your whole body one big antenna so you can be easily manipulated and controlled by the ruling elite via high tech mind control technology intended to turn this into a prison planet, would you believe me?
We all have these pathogens in us right now, even if we don't have any of the outward signs of Morgellons, which is not an actual disease- its actually the result of biological warfare being waged against us right now via chemtrails being sprayed on us from planes. We're breathing these nano particles, they're in our water and in the food chain.

"They" know what Morgellons is,. "They" caused it!

I'm interested to see all the "open-minded" folks posting here who have based their opinions of Dr. Meffert on a few lines in an article. Editors do a great job of taking things out of context for the right "sound bite."
Many have posted that his attitude (or what they think his attitude is after seeing a few sentences) is what is wrong with the medical profession. Doctors are too dismissive, too quick to judge, too close-minded, etc.

But if we're ripping on a guy we don't like because he disagrees with us, then that's ok. We're not closed-off, are we? As is typical of any story on an unusual medical condition, every guy with an axe to grind about the arrogant doctors is out in force, lecturing about how the scientists are puppets, engineering the problem themselves, part of the vast conspiracy, etc.
U.S. students lag behind nearly every other industrialized nation in math and science performance, but everybody is a scientific genius when it comes to UFO photos, aliens held in Roswell, the vaccines-causes-autism cover-up, etc.

What's sad is the number of people who have publicly wished bad things to happen to Dr. Meffert - what a sad lot of human beings who wish suffering on someone because they don't like "his attitude".

What's funny is the number of explanations for this real condition: alien invasion, nanotechnology, over-the-horizon imaging systems, engineered nematodes (don't you think a pathologist can tell a fiber in cross-section from a worm? Hint - fibers have uniform consistency, worms have multiple tissues), and a condition caused by companies who have the antidote - which they've shared with doctors like Dr. Meffert.

I wonder why it's hard to take this condition seriously. When you talk about healthcare like your discussing an X-files episode, be prepared to be dismissed.

OK, maybe Dr Meffert's opinions were truncated by the editor. You're right... but it's pretty obvious where he stands on this disease. To him it's just delusional.

The problem is that there are thousands of Dr Meffert's out there, who (mostly from ignorance) share his same view and are quick to dismiss Morgellons patients as either psychotic or just exaggerating their dermatological condition.

Sad but true, we also have given up on traditional doctors after having been blown-off by over a dozen of our own life-long docs. What has to happen? Does my wife have to die of this disease before they take notice? Probably. Yea, very sad.

I suffer from similar symptooms, but not until recently has i caused me to not sleep. My Grandmother suffered terribly from this, she would constantly scratch her fingers until they bled. Perhaps toxins in soap or fluoride, plastics could be a cause.

I was diagnosed with scabies, then with parasites from the middle east, where I had never been, then several months later I was again..by the same dermotologist diagnosed with cystic acne, with underlying parasetic lesions. However, the cream, and medicine, and acne care, only dried out my face, and left red swollen scars. I would itch constantly, on my arms, face, eyebrows and upper legs. After the itching went away, I felt sharp, shiney specs all over those areas, and my eye brows felt as if I had something crawling all over me. I am stable minded, a mother of two, and a military spouse. Stress and anxiety did not bring this on. I was sitting outside, and my legs started to itch, and burn and I felt as if I were being stung. Finally after throughly scrubbing my legs in alcohal, and buying lice meds, I started to feel relief, until I got into the shower, then I could feel something jumping all over me, and crawling from my face downwards. It was an awful feeling. I realized a pattern, I was infected by parasites of some origin, nothing any military physician or derotologis had seen before. After the initial infection, for half a year straight, I would fight, the itches with cortisone cream and rub myself with alcohal, and or peroxide every day three or four time a day, whenever the itching and or redness would start. After leaving Alabama, and moving, only then did the relief begin to start. I would notice small shiny and minute things on my skin that had made its way from underneath my skin and tunneled out through another part of my limbs. The parasites under a microscope looked exactly like the ones on this page, and are still unamed. Apparently they feed off skin, blood, and tisue leaving behind scars, and permanent skin damage, even killing off skin under nails, such as toe nails, etc..I have a toenail that will not grow due to breaking off, after some of these hanious creatures tunneled under neath the nail. I still have scars on my face and my eyebrows itch at times after long exposure to tanning beds or sweating from working out. I still do not have a name, but the relief after a year is enough for now. I would love to take the results from the CDC with me to a dermitologist, after all it is not in my head..I mean I could feel my skin crawling, I washed sheets, drycleaned clothes,. changed detergent, steamed rugs and couches, washed cats..kept my cats inside, and to no avail..I would still itch, my youngest suffered a small amount, but I kept my regine on her and ahead of the tunneling, my spouse and other daughter never felt a thing., set aside from random fits of itching of the scalp and eyebrows, and it was not lice..Chigger cream helped alot as well as chamomile ointment, with prescriptoin benedryl taking daily. This articel answered alot of my questions, I only hope I help others..we are not alone in this parasite attack..be well, J

It wasn't TOO long ago when doctors thought Fibromyalgia was a pyschological disorder. It's a shame that these people have to suffer simply because physicians are too arogant to admit that they don't know everything there is to know about disease!

When I was young and believed every thing my parents told me, I was quick to believe in God, As I got older and my parents word became less convincing, so to did the existance of God. Considering the tragedies that have befallen me and thouse surrounding me, I cannot see why people would believe in the existance of a supreme being that allows his creations to destroy each other with extream paid and suffering. Oh, yes, God works in mysterious ways. However, if there is no way for us to learn exactly what the Lord's aims are we can only disassume the existance of such existance. Perhaps, we are exactly what Einstein, Newton, Openheimer, Kirk and Spok all believe; there is a God, but it exists only in the force of nature that Spinoza extolled. Neither malevolent nor benevolent, God controls everything, while there is no control at all. The lack of any spiritual guidance is nothing new. It is acknowledged that bad things happen to good people and vice verse. Why, because people are there and they all have independant brains that do their own thing without being told what to do. God has left us to take a long and well deserved vacation. We needed his or her guidance, but those 40 years in the dessert, wore him out. With sand in our shoes and mush in our brain, we need to leave God to be manipulated by the followers of Rob and Tami-Faye. They need him and he makes them happy alos the producers and prosecutors.

Those who need God and can accept such existance, should. Those who cannot, must not, Somewhere there is a middle line and if there is someone that can accept that trail, perhaps they can lead all of us down that trail so that the rest of us stop hurting one another in the name of or the lack thereof, God. So mode it be.

I suffer from similar syptoms, but not until recently has it become so painful that it keeps me from sleeping. I wonder if there are unknown areas that could be explored, soap over exposure, plastics, flouride. My grandmother had someting similar. She would constantly scratch her hands until they bled.

As far as I am concerned most "doctors" want to believe only what they were taught in medical school.
as a perfect example of medical disregard for a complaint I, personally had been dismissed for a bulged disk in my c5-c6 location, for veriseal failure and for a imbilical herna, for over twenty years, and I am still being refuted for a "S-I Triangle" injury to the lower back and dismissed for a muscle in the back that was not aligned correctly after ahaving a kidney remove . . . but give some ass a degree and he or she knows everything

I have both serisis and exuma (not sure of the spellings)but for last year i have been having some kinda combo of the 2.The best thing i found so far was mixing antibiotic ointment with antifungal creme.I havnt went to a skin doctor yet but if their just telling everyone yer nuts why bother.humidity drives it nuts, but when im in the dessert no problem.sound familiar?

I would think that a Doctor of Medicine would want to find answers instead of so easily dismissing them. If Meffert was my doctor, I believe I might find another one who actually WANTED to find out what was wrong with me. He is obviously a doctor for all the wrong reasons.

Maybe these people produce very visible fibrinogen (I think that it's called this), which the body makes when healing wounds.

  • Posted By: Jennsea @ 09/16/2008 2:26:06 PM

These Dcotor's who doubt this disease, and "do not even want to see the patients," are a more than perfect example of those who DO NOT belong in the field. If they were one of the thousands if not millions who are struggling with this foreign and debilitating disease, I am sure they would not feel the need to be an inconsiderate, obstinant, worthless, careless, pretender of providing care. Of course they start to have signs or anxiety, and stress! They are dealing with horrific practioners, spending hundreds of dollars on idiots who DO NOT KNOW the FIRST thing about providing care! Don't be a TOTAL IDIOT, there are reported cases all across the world! I guess these people all just unified, to fabricate, (no pun intended), a disease that doesn't exist, and spend thousand of dollars with worthless doctor's because they don't have anything else in the world they can think of to do.... Perfect example of the total idiocy that exists.

I'm not saying these people aren't sick. They obviously have some sort of problem. Do I believe that they have fibers under their skin or some kind of powder oozing out of them. No. I'm sure if I scratched myself raw I would find something in my wounds too. There are people that go to the doctor and make themselves and others sick for attention. I hope they get help they need.

That condition is called Munchausen Syndrome. Morgellon's is completely different lady.......

Marylynn828 makes this enlightened comment: "Do I believe that they have fibers under their skin or some kind of powder oozing out of them. No. I'm sure if I scratched myself raw I would find something in my wounds too." Oh Really Marylynn. Have you personally met anyone who suffers with this? There are thousands worldwide. You are going to disregard the symptoms of ALL the people suffering just because "you don't think so?" We are all very happy for you that you exist in your little comfortable box of ignorance. All the best to you, and thanks for chiming in with your knowledge based opinion.

It seems like these fibers could be the type that the body makes when healing wounds. And, sometimes blood vessels break underneath the skin, as when we bruise. Perhaps these people have a certain amount of ability to produce extra fibrinogen (I think it's called) and so the healing fibers are visible. The article didn't discuss any of this, and I wonder whether anyone is considering it.
