Why is it so hard to believe that Morgellons is a real disease? When a person has symptoms that are blown off by the medical field then yes that patient will suffer anxiety. I applaud the efforts to find out what is wrong with these people. Seems to be about time someone listened to those who are suffering the effects.
I have a very good Dr. , a Dermatologist that is concerned with the problems of the patient .
I was finally (after about a year and a half) found out that i have a condition Called Citracalitic Phermagoid
with only about 75 people in the world having this condition Dr. Williams has gotten a control on the problem and I don't have sores all over my body any more however this condition is incurable but not contagis
Want Help Contact Dr. Walter Williams, in Clarkston, Washington He is very in depth and will help.
Were any of these people ever on antibiotics, such as Z-pak?
I was very intrigued by this article that I had to do a little bit of research. There is no doubt in my mind that this disease is very real. Just because it hasn't been "properly identified" by American Medicine does not mean it's not real. I don't have to have it to see that the lesions and all the symptoms described are real. I found that the first public siting of Morgellon's disease was discovered in China in 1994. Strange coincidence but there was a recent case of leprosy in China in the past 10 -15 years. I was already thinking leprosy before I found out that little morsel of information. Maybe some strange mutated strain of leprosy. I'm not a scientist, not even in the science field but I know one thing -- thousands of people across the face the earth (includes China, Europe & The USA) have similar symptoms. tHEY DON'T EVEN KNOW EACH OTHER?HOW CAN THIS BE A DELUSION? It's not. BTW, i also found something about an old Hebrew disease called "Tzaraath" ... very interesting reading doctors... go read up on it.
I am glad we are spending a half a million dollars researching this "disease" that we aren't sure is a disease. Especially since cancer, AIDS, ALS, MLS, childhood diabetes, heart attacks etc have all been cured. Thankfully now our scientists, researchers and doctors have something to focus on. I'm sorry, what? Those real and not imagined diseases HAVEN'T been cured? Well I am glad that a paranoid hypochondriac's mind has been eased instead of spending that money towards saving lives...
LMAO.......hey bnucki, here are some helpful hints for some of your concerns....use a condom, stay away from IV drugs, keep your fat a$$ kids off of mcdonalds and soda, and away from video games and tv.....hope that helps.........
Bnucki your an idiot. Our government is spending more than a half million dollars per day in Iraq. They have misplaced more money than that. I hope you catch the "disease"
Shame on you. I hope you never get some unexplained medical condition. FYI all of the dieases you mentioned were once unexplained. Maybe you need to spend your time researching before commenting.
My comments are directed at sexybodysexybrain and wshill : If this was the 1950s you'd be blaming it on the communists, if this was the 1930s you'd be blaming it on the Jews and the Gypsies. Medical problems typically do not discriminate--they can affect everyone--rich, poor, immigrant, or even solid American citizens whose families sailed on the Mayflower. Attitudes like yours impede medical research and start fear campaigns that do not help anyone.
if you want to see something that spins your head do this for me. Find a place in your house that has not been dusted in a long time. Get a flashlight and take a very close look at the surface. What you will see is a vast amount of tiny little fibers standing up on the surface. These fibers will measure about 1 millimeter, although in places not dusted for a very long time you'll find ones much longer. Your first response will be, well, it looks like lint. Folks, it's not lint. Do this for me. Now take a spray bottle with just water in it and mist the surface. Now, with a magnifying glass, take a look at these fibers. Make sure there is little air current in the room. Tell me what you see. Then, if you have a black light, in the dark, shine the black light on this same surface. I suspect it's something like self replicating hybrid nano fungus or some other hybrid organism in conjuction with nanotech. I could be wrong. SO why. I suspect it has to do with some form of infrared, acoustic, or over the horizon 3-d imaging technology. Also, these fibers may be some sort of bio arrays or sensors. Clearly, there are different fibers for different applications. Some are in our environment, some are in our skins, and I suspect some are in our organs and nervous systems. One could speculate in soooo many directions. One thing is for sure, it's not just lint from your clothes. It also stands to reason here that the very clothes you wear have such capabilities, as there is some suggestion that cotton has been manipulated on the genetic level to share these same characteristics. Welcome to NWO and the age of disaster capitalism and protein economics. Gotta love that snow in Bagdad. By the way, all this stuff is passe' and part of the Master Plan, whatever that plan is. It is a Brave New World - don't be fooled. The freak show has begun, watch the skies. My sense is you'll find the roots of this in the late 1800''s and early 1900's; with the Rockfellers, J.P. Morgan, Tesla, George Scherf, Allen Dulles, Stanley Gottlieb, etc; it's such a convoluted story. Is that a bluebird I just saw out my window. Read about Otto Skorzeny for a mind trip. There's a place on the end of Long Island where, well let's not get into that here.
There's a hole in your aluminum hat. Fix that, hang two red ribboms from each ear, and you will be safe from the nanos. Also, don't go out in the light.
I don't see what everyone is getting bent out of shape about. A half million dollars is nothing. We are spending more than that per day fighting in Iraq. More than a billion dollars a month. WHATS THE BIG DEAL, put the money towards research, new diseases are poping up all over the place.

Comment: I'm interested to see all the "open-minded" folks posting here who have based their opinions of Dr. Meffert on a few lines in an article. Editors do a great job of taking things out of context for the right "sound bite."
Many have posted that his attitude (or what they think his attitude is after seeing a few sentences) is what is wrong with the medical profession. Doctors are too dismissive, too quick to judge, too close-minded, etc.
But if we're ripping on a guy we don't like because he disagrees with us, then that's ok. We're not closed-off, are we? I am sure we didnt get Meffert's entire comment! BUT, when you are charged with treating people you do not dismiss EVERYONE of the patients that has come forward as loons because your Physician's Desk Reference doesnt have a title for it!
If it were up to doctors like Meffert, AIDS would still be known as the GAY CANCER, because they said so!!
BTW...I dont believe in aliens or even ghosts!

There was a time in this country when not all was known. In the grand scheme of things, a half a million dollars does not seem like an outrageous amount of money to spend on a possibly REAL disease. I certainly hope that all of you who have voiced such dismissive and flat-out mean comments never experience what these people have gone through. You all must be lucky to have NEVER gone to a doctor and complain about a symptom just to have a doctor dismiss you as "crazy." Good luck to the CDC and whatever results they find.
For years FM was thought just to be a myth and yet hundreds of thousands suffer with it. its easy to discount something if you are not afflicted with it. Hope they find out what this is.
Most possibly indifference and sarcasm from the doctor cause patiaent's mistrust and that's why they don't
go back to their doctors even if they believe what they say. Doctors like other scientists must accept they are not almighty and majority of peolpe are not stupid. A good doctor has to listen and learn from patient specially in the cases involving new diseases. Our medical science is much behind than other sciences; who knows may be genetically modified foods causing it.
Any Doctor whom remains close minded on this subject is a quack. These so called professionals are legends in their own minds and see themselves as almost diety like. It's just that simple. Oh, and right-on Waldo_Fazoosa.
I've read about this in journals and seen this alleged disease firsthand, and it's really unfortunate that some doctors tend to dismiss it as fantasy. My own personal theory is that ""Morgellons" is in fact an Allergic or Immune reaction to either some environmental condition such as ongoing Bacterial, Chemical, or Fungal exposure. In essence i'm thinking that "AT LEAST SOME" of the people claiming Morgellens, are in fact experiencing a common and definable reaction to a general cause, It's just that its borderline undefinable so Most Heath Professionals jump to an easy answer instead. When I was a Kid between age 5 and age 15, I suffered chronic Sinus and Ear Infections (eventually stopped by a sinus a surgery to remove cartilage)
But Also i was very allergic to Mosquito Bites, Every Mosquito bite i recieved would go through the same cycle, First several days of pain and swelling, then the swelling would decrease a the skin would rupture into lesions that would never quite heal and would randomely be damp or dry, Also these sores or lesions would develop tiny tiny fibers sort of a cross between spider web and cotton, usually semi transparant and if I tries to remove then they would fall off or brush away but would return by the next day. My thought at the time as a kid was that SOMETHING either fungal or bacterial was trying to grow on the lesions but that my immuns esystem was keeping it at bay so that all that ever appeared was the barest hint of the initial growth in a chronic condition until the skin managed to heal which would take up to 3 months, This only happened with mosquito bites, any other cuts or scrape i had would be healed shut in 1 or 2 days.
Sounds like you were brushing away the fibrin clot in healing wounds.
Well enucki I certainly hope you never come down with some unexplained illness....all of the diseases you mentioned were once unexplained. So do some research before you criticize.
I cannot believe that something is finally being done about this condition. A few years ago I discovered these strange fibers after picking at an ingrown hair (or so I thought it was) after looking more closely I could not identify it. I called my sister who is a nurse and she was freaked out. She told me to call the doctor. I told her there was no way I was goingto the doctor and explaining that I have wierd fibers in my body, surely they would think I was nuts. So I started looking on the internet. Sure enough there were other people who were going to the doctor and guess what, BECAUSE THE MEDICAL FIELD DID NOT HAVE ANSWERS they said these people were crazy, neurotic, depressed, mentally ill, fill in the blank. Just like they said about people who have fibromyalgia. They did not know what that wasw so they said people were crazy. Now they diagnose it all the time. For all of you that think we are crazy because we have a real symptom of Morgellons, think again, one day you may find something wrong with you and the doctor could say your crazy. Just because the doctors cannot explain it, does not mean it does not exist. With all the new enviornmental hazards we are exposed to you never know what new disease one is apt to get.
This disease in San Antonio was in the news three months ago--it was tracked to illegal Mexicans bringing it in from Mexico--Morgellons is common in countries with poor general hygiene--these Texas citizens particularly and all of us generally can thank our federal politicians for not upholding the immigration laws which mandates health screening so that U.S. citizens don't have to suffer . This is the perfect example of how little our politicians care about us citizens and would rather endanger us and get votes to stay in office. On the same day there was an article confirming that illegal Mexicans had just reached the 1,000,000 mark in commiting rape and child molestations against the U.S. female population. You see immigration laws protect the citizens and anyone who supports illegal immigration, allowing them to remain, granting amesty, etc. should be charged with subverting the laws of the United States and neglect of the ir constitutional duties of office in allowing such dangers in the first place!
