For myself, I did not feel any pain at all when I got a tattoo covering my mons pubis. In fact, it tickled so much that I laughed the whole time and had a very hard time holding still. For the record, I am NOT overweight. My BMI has never been over 20. I am a female, and I got the tattoo at the age of 30. Finally, I was had not taken any alcohol or medication of any kind before getting the tattoo. I think that thresholds for pain tolerance can very greatly from person to person and from body part to body part.

this is to knuckleswich, my man loves my tattooes and we watch football, nascar races and we go fishing and hunting together. a man ages too and and yes they too wrinkle. women can have tattoes too. I have 5 and I want at least 3 more but mine are all in good taste. They are where nobody can see them unless I choose to show them. so please speak for yourself and not all men. Because I do know some men love to see them on women. Mine does.

To some degree it is all relative. Having said that though...the tattoo on my leg took about 4-5 hours and when he was working on my shin bone I thought I was going to cry like a little baby. Call me a pansy if you want, but I have a large surface area of my body covered with tats (i.e. my entire back, around my arm including the tender inside, etc.). I tell you...nothing hurts like extensive work on the shin. It felt like a tiny foot was kicking me really fast over and over on my shin. It wasn't just a moment either, my entire leg (knee to ankle) is done. From what I hear, the ribs are just about the worst place for pain. Mostly, just don't let it get infected. Good tatting to all!

I am currently persuing a degree in marketing and i have four tattoos. As a woman i find it extremely important to be able to cover them up because there are people out there that do find them offensive. When they are not covered, i find them to be good conversation starter and if people do find them offensive i feel that you should not look. I am also an Ordained Minister and fell that God is the only one who can truly judge me and for those who take the religious position against tattoos i feel that they have no real merrit. As long as in your heart you are with God then there is nothing to worry about. If a murder can get into heaven just by apologizing to and asking God for forgivness, then i highly doubt that you will be sent to hell for having a tatttoo. As for quoting the bible, the bible is open to interpretation so it does not clearly state that tatttoos are against god. if that is what you believe, than you are allowed to its your relationship with God not mine, i however do not feel that you should not hold them against people because you do not have the power to judge anyone. God does and you are not God nor will you ever be so come down off your high horse and pray for something worth praying for like forgivness for trying to be God-like in judging people.

I have one tattoo on my lower back (but I got it before this location became popular enough to earn the term "tramp stamp.") Two other good friends had theirs in the same place. One friend and I agreed that outlining hurt more than fill, and that it hurt more the further the design got from our spines. The other friend had totally the opposite experience -- she felt that the fill hurt more, and that the pain was more intense when the artist was working closer to her spine. Just goes to show you, it's all relative!

Also, when I went in, I asked my artist if the lower back was a more or less painful spot to get a tattoo. He just looked at me and said, "Have you ever had a tattoo before?" I said no, and his response was, "Then there's no such thing as more painful, since you don't have anything to compare it with." I thought that was a really good point!

I have 3 different tats in 3 different locations on my body. Each one felt completely different with the exception over all they all felt like a scratching/burning and much like a sunburn. The one on my left calf was probably the most painful. When it got further towards the bank of the calf is where it hurt more. My second tat on my middle upper back actually tickled when the guy was working on the middle part and up higher on my shoulders (it's a bat/vampire style design) that did sting a bit. My last tat was my arm band on my left bicep and I figured it would hurt like crazy but actually it wasn't any where near as bad as I thought it would be. While all of them had their moments none of it was bad enough that I'd never do it again and to be honest I kinda enjoy the pain in a strange way. lol (To an extent.)

I have two tatts. 1. a butterfly on my back. I started out as a shy kid. people took advantage of me, then I went to the Marine Corps! (OOH RAH) and all that changed. 2. I have the kanji symbol for courage between my shoulder blades int he middle of my back. I spent a lot of time in Japan. Went to Iraq. so I think Courage was a pretty fitting statement. to remind my self to have courage in all things.

If you don't like tatt's, don't get one! I would rather not here your small minded explainations of the devil, anger issues and such! I am a proud mother of a 5 year old who thinks mommy's tattoo is really cool and work for the federal government now. I am a professional, and you would never know that I had one.

Just like I think you may not look good in plaid, hey wear what you want! Doesn't effect me either way!

Semper-Fi! I got my first tat in the corps as well. Have added 5 more since. Yes, I am a lady just like yourself.

to respond to ALOSTTHOUGHT- what planet are you from honey?? People like you are scary to the rest of the human race. I have many tattoo's and have never smoked pot or done drugs in my life. I am upper middle class who lives in a $400,000. per -housing development and have a well paying career for Carrier Corporation. As you don't even have a tattoo and can't apparently spell no one really cares what you have to say. You apparently have never had feelings for anyone or anything that run so deep you want to keep them with you to warm your heart. As for prejudicial comment of tattoo artists "sucking" My artist doesnt' have a single tattoo or piercing and has a family and drives a Suburban. Its narrow minded anal, judgemental , bigoted people like you that create problems in this world. Remember Hitler- Yeah he thought people that didn't look like him "sucked" so why dont you keep your uninformed , narrow minded views to yourself! Self express away it thats what in you to do!

Comment: To: Knucklehead; I knew who quoted that line, I just didn't think you'd know who Jim Morrison was. HELLO?
Your comments and feelings are duly noted. Next time I see a biker or stripper with body-art, I'll think of you.
PEACE TO YOU & YOURS. TheWiZ.

Ditto. Next time I see a right-wing, preppie Carlton or a Palm Beach Barbie I'll throw my beer at them and think of you.

I have my arms and legs fully covered. Worst place hands down is the inner part of your arm where it bends. No bone, no fat, just skin and nerves. Wrist bone, shin bone, back of arms and back of legs are also not too fun. Everywhere else is pretty easy if you're dedicated.

Only Fools and Horses have tattoos. (But the horses can't say NO.

Oh we can say no, we just choose not to. :)

I have sleeves and I've found that it all hurts, it just hurts differently in different spots. My most painful area was in my arm pits (Level 10 out of 10 on the pain scale.), but the experience helped me cope when I had my appendix removed. (Level 8 out of 10 with no pain meds required.) I'm suprised that behind the ear is mentioned ... I would give my small heart behind my ear a pain rating of 2.

First of all tattooing is a form of expression.

Whether it is for a love one or the lost of a love one each tat that we have has a meaning that all you negative people will never understand which is fine by me and I believe fine with everyone that has been tattooed.

For the people who have gotten tattooed and regret it there is no one to blame but yourself for your stupidity of getting a tat or tats cause it with the in thing to do.

I am 42 yrs old and have 8 tats I am accountant, I have the finer things in life including my tats and if this makes me less then a person then you all who don't have tats so, be it!

Regarding to if a tat hurts thru my experience there are tender spots every tat has one you all know the one that makes you say "OMFG" that HURT! there is always one spot in the outlining that does that to me I feel no pain during the colouring(shading).

Comment: There is noting more unappealign than a woman with a tatoo, especially on her chest. I don't know when this whole trend started. It is another attempt by women to show men how much like men they can be like men.. Men don't want women to be men...they want them to be women. Here is a quick tip to women. No man would rather watch a game with you, play video games, go out for beers, a ball game, etc. They wold rather go with their regular friends. And no man takes any woman seriously who thinks they are a wild and crazy party animal. Oh sure, the man might want to have a one-nighter with them but for a serious relationship, no way. This tatoo trend will end and there will be alot of women going to the "un-tattoer" to have these things removed. I take back my original statement. A tatoo on a woman with wrinklined skin is even more unattractive. And yes, girls, believe it or not, you will age. And you all can compare your wrinklled tattos at the over 40 singles dances you all will be attending.

LOL.... what a joke. Tell ya what old timer! I'm 28 and married... Guess that means you won't be attending the know-it-all conference, huh?

My arms and legs are fully covered. Worst places are on the wrist bone, inner part of arm opposite your elbow (where your arm bends), shin bone, back of arms, back of legs. The rest isn't too bad if you're dedicated.
