WOW you just show how close minded people are these days. I have a very good job and 10 tattoo's. Think before you write something that makes you sound like a fool.

If you're thinking about getting a tattoo, the pain should be the least of your worries. You should be more concerned about looking incredibly stupid when you're 50, and what McDonald's you'll be spending your life working at. Losers.

I have two tattoo's and the one that hurt the most was the one located on my lower back, near the spine was almost pain free but as the needle went out onto my sides -fatty area, It felt slightly painful. I have my other tattoo on the back of my neck and it didn't hurt a bit. =)

Newsweek, your research sucks. You lose points on the henna issue. And the pain issue. The most painful place I have tattoos is BOTH armpits and a large human eye on my thumb print. Full circle watch and band on my left arm did not hurt at all. Calf was not even felt. Back of upper arms felt some pain. But, I would do it all over again. I have 13 and do not regret it. I am looking forward to my next???

Wow, this whole post is pretty entertaining. I thought the purpose of it was just so people could find out what parts of the body hurt the most? I don't have any tattoos yet, but I'm planning on getting some. So far I think we've established that the ribs, lower back, knuckles, foot, inner arm, and stomach hurt the most, but then again there are other people who say that it doesn't hurt in those places. Hasn't anyone learned by now that everyone is different, and that just like snowflakes no 2 are the same? Come on people, it's not like this is anything new to know.

And for all of the people that are ridiculing other people just because they have tattoos, need to get a life. I don't think it's childish, because a child would never talk to an adult that way about a tattoo, because they don't understand it. And if it means something to someone or not, that is their business and theirs alone. Anything can be offensive to anyone. If you don't like them then deal with it. There are people who don't like our president, but they deal with him. I think people who smell bad and who chew loudly are offensive, but I don't go around posting nasty comments about people. Suck it up and deal with it. Seriously, no one asked anything about what anyone thought about tattoos, they only asked where it hurt to get them. And like a lot of them have said, if you want it bad enough, you'll sit through the pain. I think there are worse things in the world to worry about then tattoos. Like people's family members over seas who are defending your right to be able to get tattoos and dying for those who don't like them. How about worry about the children who are living on streets with no food, and who are dying of diseases. How about people who get randomly shot in cities and die for nothing. And some of these people are worried about other people with tattoos? My God. Go do something better with your life then make others unhappy.

Tattoos hurt, there is no way around it. This article focused on a couple of the spots that seem to be more painful. To me there is no way they can tell you whats going to be bad and what isn't. At least they said it all depends on the person. If they took the time to get more scientific and look at the nervous system they would have known all the points that would hurt. I had my calf done, which when he hit the nerves that run down the sides hurt like hell. I also had the front of my leg done, which wasn't nearly as bad. And I don't understand why they say above your ribcage hurts, because from everyone I have talked to, your actual rib cage hurts the most. All I'm saying is if you are going to write an article about tattoo's, talk to some people who have experience with them, the artists. In my opinion this article should not have even been published.

ive only gotten one so far (since i havent had the money to get any more yet, tho i will be getting a dragonfly on my left wrist soon i hope), a cute curly heart on my right breast, and before i got it done, i asked around to see how much it would hurt. everyone i asked said that because it would be on my breast it would hurt alot. but in reality it only hurt a little and it was a good pain. the only bad thing about it was the itching... im used to itching like mad and even picking at itchy spots, but you cant do anything but rub lots and lots of lotion into a fresh tattoo. as far as pain goes... i guess i dont know what to tell you except that all masochists will easily become addicted to getting tattoos lol ^_^

Getting a tatoo is one of the most memeriolable and beautiful experinces in a persons life, Watching and feeling your tatoo being created on your body is like giving birth to a child.

It's nice to see that most people realize you have to get through the pain to get the picture when it comes to tats. I have 4, and don't really understand where the writer came up with those time frames. All of mine measure app. 4x4 or bigger, and not one took over half an hour. The most painful is right where the leg of my underwear rides on the front of my leg. Least painful was in the middle of my upper back. Was thinking about a band around my upper arm, but no more after that comment from msmuscles! I think I will just even myself up by gettint another on the outside of my other calf. Addictive, aren't they!

I'm not sure if I agree or disagree. I have 4 tats, all larger than 4 inches long/wide, and the one on my upper leg ( just at the leg of my underwear) definitely hurt the most. Middle back didn't hurt much, and my upper arm was very mild. My leg (slide of calf) was bothersome only due to the position I had to hold for so long. But, not one of them took over half an hour, so how did this writer estimate that time? As for the pain, I see by the comments that most of us know you have to get through some pain to get the picture.

the most painful spot for me,was under the inside of my arm!!i didnt think i was going to complete my band around my arm ,but i made it thru. it made feel like some one was slicing my tricep open ouch!!

I had a tatoo put on my left calf last summer. The artst said there is some twitching in the leg but generally it stops after a short time. This was my concern since I have MS, and it affects my legs the worst. My leg never stopped twitching through out the entire two and a half hours. My friend laid over my thighs while my foot wrapped around the artists rib cage. Needless to say he had a new experience to share with everyone. I tipped him very well for the pain and suffering.

I personally think the tickiling is worse than the pain....who'd a thought! especially the one above my hip! my spine was hard though..tickle and pain! love em though! the itching durring the healing is almost unbearable for me!

I got a tat on the top of my foot. The vibration tickled me especially towards my toes. lol. Towards the ankle it hurt more and more though.

You'd think getting tattooed *anywhere* would hurt, but, depending on the person, it might hurt a little or a lot. I've never had tattoos???just the little temporary ones kids wear sometimes, and even those were many, many years ago. But would it hurt to get tattooed on your eyeball? Uh, DUH.

  • Posted By: FAIRYKYSS @ 02/12/2008 2:41:34 PM

Agreed! Silly Article....Any Tattoo artist can tell you where it is going to hurt, but personally I believe it depends on the individuals pain threshold. I have 3 tattoos. One on my ankle, my right shoulder, and one on the outside of my left arm. I would have to say the one on my shoulder hurt the most. I didn't even feel the tattoo on my arm...Pain and Tattoos are a right of passage. Recently my 60+ mommy got her first tattoo on her shoulder. She said it hurt, but she wouldn't have traded the experience of getting it for anything. Big warning though...You can't just get one!

Gee, what a genius. Who would have ever thought that getting a tatoo on your eyeball would hurt? Who writes this crap and do they get paid for it? I would love a job with no work required just writing articles stating the obvious.

Gee, what a genius. Who would have ever guessed that getting your eyeball tatooed would hurt? Who writes this stuff and do they get paid? I would absolutely love a job stating the obvious!
