There???s an important reason why the Constitution states that our Armies are to be funded only for two years at a time. According to Attorney John Whitehead: Those who drafted the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights had an enormous distrust of standing armies. They knew that despotic governments have always used standing armies to control the people and impose tyranny. As James Madison, the Father of the Constitution, wrote, ???A standing military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty. The means of defense against foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home.??? These ???instruments of tyranny??? are now in place. Thus, it may very well be that we are already living in a police state ??? and that it???s all over but the shouting. But still we have to shout.???
Don???t believe the hype! The border walls are needed to keep you in, not keep them out. By the way, the Great Wall of China didn???t work, the French Maginot Line didn???t work. Castle walls from Ireland to Bangalore, India have not worked. Stop dancing lion!

Our government is killing those people, our troops are protecting those pipelines, and multinational companies are taking their oil because nobody???s willing to stop it. While you???re shopping at Wal-Mart, Iran may be next, then Venezuela, then Nigeria, unless YOU do something about this!

Don't trust a word I have to say. Do your own research...start below.

WTF does this have to do with tattoos?

      • Posted By: SgtPetesWife @ 02/09/2008 7:04:09 AM

Oh Please just shut up. My husband, brother and many friends are in the military and I can promise none of them have come home from the war stating that they saw much less protected a pipe line, they were much to bust dodging IEDs and bullets.

When I see a woman with a visible tattoo, especially on the ankle, I think ???slut.??? On the hands I think trash, and dumb. It seems most hand tats are a stupid idea that???s usually poorly done by a friend high on something during teen years. I can see it now; the last row in the ???Florida Park in Style??? trailer park (or as the tenants call it; Park n Rot). A faded rust stained single-wide with a black primered ???73 Camero decomposing on blocks out front next to the tattered mis-matched lawn chairs. An address number hanging upside down next to the torn screen door dangling from its rusty hinges. A mangy dog staggering about, looking vainly for a place to die???
Inside a teen girl and her male ???friend??? suck down a 6-pack and a joint while truant and watching daytime TV. They dig up a sewing needle, thread, and a ballpoint pen out of moms junk drawer, and over the next 20 minutes he marks her for life leaving her with what would be best described as a very small Rorschach blot between her middle and index fingers. From that point on, everyone she meets; every perspective employer, potential boyfriend, etc will see, and judge her by that little mark. That little mark draws a picture in a persons mind like this one I just put into words.
My apologies to all whose lives I???ve just described. My advice; get that thing removed!
I have yet to see a woman who looked better, or sexier with a tattoo. Most tattoos I see are horrible, and the ???artist??? should be sued, or at least not be allowed to monkey paint on a real person again. Of the few, very few truly talented works I???ve seen, it is impressive, but sexy? No. Put the art on the wall, not on your body. That way when it is no longer cool, or you???re sick of it, you simply take it down.
The only effect I???ve seen a tattoo make is a negative one. If you want to look like trash, or want to look scary or tougher, then a tat is a great way to achieve that look. If you???re a weak little man inside, and don???t or can???t become a cop, then do some steroids, get a bunch of tats and an old Harley. If you???re a woman, well, I have no idea why you would do that to you body, even sluts don???t like to be thought of as sluts. And like a perm, it will NEVER make you look better than you did before.

The three replies I will most likely get:
    Normal people: I agree.
Liberals: Let people do what they want with their bodies.
Those with tats: You???re a Troll, fu@# you, etc etc.

The reality is: It???s the truth, hopefully preventing some girl from getting a tat, and I???m bored at work???.

WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE....GOD? ONLY HE CAN JUDGE ME NOT A NARROW MINDED TOAD LIKE YOU. I AM A FEMALE, 41 YEARS OLD, MARRIED W/2 TEENAGE BOYS AND HAVE 9 TATTOOS AND I CAN ASSURE YOU THAT I AM NOT AS YOU PUT IT A SLUT!!! ALL OF MY TATTOOS HAVE SPIRITUAL MEANING AND ARE NOT TRASHY OR HOMEMADE! OH AND IF YOUR BORED AT WORK FIND ANOTHER JOB!

    • Posted By: Heaven&Hell @ 02/08/2008 4:04:51 PM

So, you're bored at work... I have a tattoo of a cross and a rose on my lower back, do you think I'm trashy? You think I live in a trailer park? You think sit there with some stupid jack*** drinking beer so he can beat me later. Or is it that I love God and I want people to know I do? I think it's the last one. I'm successful. I'm a teacher. I love my life, I have a good house, a great family, and a wonderful relationship with God. If people would stop making assumptions there would be a lot less violence in this word. Now as a well educated and well mannered person to respectable people. Shut the F*** up and do your job!

And the visual you typed about, yeah, I can just picture you in that scene, all bare chested with cutoff jeans, rotted teeth and a cig in your mouth, is that how you have such an understanding?

I am 49, and just got my first tattoo, and I love it. It is on my ankle, and yes it hurt!!! It's a shame that people base there impression on someone because of a tattoo. It is an expression of ones self, no different then the way someone dresses to express themselves.

I have a small tatoo on my Achilles Tendon area of my ankle... and I am not a Slut as you have stated that's what you think women with tatoos on there ankles are sluts!what did you mean??? all women with tats on there ankles are sluts????

PatriciaB; yeah sounds like Knucklesandwich called you a slut! What a jerk...
Actually read it again, he's on your side... I'm the bad guy. It's just what naturally comes to mind when I see an ankle tat on a woman. You see, it's ok for you and others here to express their opinions, but if I express mine I'm a azzhole. No I don't think you're a slut, I don't know well enough. Feisty maybe ;)

i have a total of 5 tattoos (a frog on the top of my foot, my lil brother's combat action badge with his initials on my calf, a butterfly on my ankle, and a 'kanji' on both of my forearms right above my wrists). i was 23 before i got my first tattoo and i have thought long and hard about each and everyone of them and they all have a deep meaning for me. now about the pain-i have a high pain threshold so i know for a fact that the amount of pain felt by each person no matter where the tattoo is, is a completely personal thing. out of all the tattoos i have my foot was the most painful and i would never tell someone that it was nothing but if thats where u want ur tattoo then be prepared for the possibility of major amounts of pain. the rest of my tattoos were nothing to me pain wise and besides my forearms they are all colored or shaded in some way (i have heard from some people that solid black is less painful than colored but others have said the opposite so who knows). i think the amount of pain u feel in any place that u get a tattoo is based on ur personal ability to handle pain and the sensitivity of the nerve endings for you in that area. there should never be a black and white standard for where to get the least painful tattoo. no one should ever be able to write an article that says that this spot is more painful that this spot because just like areas of the body that are more sensitive to pleasure it all depends on the person.

Much like the ???in crowds??? of the fine art and modern art world???s brag about their newest acquisitions, tattoo aficionados often brag about their newest work. Dismissing the talent of a tattoo artist because of their choice of medium is ludicrous. It is not the 1940???s and tattoo artists are not scary bikers with jailhouse needles tattooing in back rooms. Many of today???s tattoo shops are more sterile than hospital emergency rooms and many artists have graduated from celebrated art schools.

Tattoos are not addictive in the same sense that drugs are addictive. It is more so in the way of coin collecting and collecting comic books. Serious artists and ardent collectors are often the only ones that see or understand the true value of the final product. Take a gander through a tattoo magazine or pop into a convention and you will see art the likes of which will amaze you. To liken tattooing and smoking pot is laughable and, pardon my saying, quite silly.

For those that do not like tattoos, that opinion is your own and I wouldn???t dare think less of you for it. I don???t expect you to understand my affinity for ink any more than I understand someone else???s affinity for wearing make up or working out. A tattoo is a life choice, a deeper more personal commitment than even marriage. Laser surgery aside you will always be marked in some way by your tattoo. Many people regret the decision made often when they were young. Don???t blame the tattoo or the artist. Blame yourself for rash choices.

I am a mom and I have eight tattoos. I have been getting them since I was 21 and I have never regretted any of them. I realize that my choice to have visible tattoos often colors other people???s perceptions of me both as a mother and a business woman. I have learned to overcome or ignore these perceptions and hopefully maybe I have even changed a few. My favorite question about my work is, ???What are you going to do when you are old???? Well???I am going to be old with tattoos. Duh.

Time has and will continue to do things to my body that are far more offensive than a tattoo could ever be. Appendectomy scars, stretch marks, freckles. At least tattoos were my choice. And boy are they pretty!

First off, and before the chicken hawks swarm me. I'm successful in my field of Data Encryption and software development. I am also a graduate of MIT with a Doctorate in Computer Sciences. In other words I'll compare degrees and bankbooks with just about anyone that's writing here.
That said, I also have a few (5) tattoos. My first one is my Army Service number and it???s under my right arm on my ribs. It was done before shipping out to Viet Nam. I had it done so I could be identified if needed. It brought tears and was easily the most painful to get. Part of that might have been my thinking about why I was getting it. There were eight of us that got them that day and we all agreed we might try getting them somewhere else in the future.
My next one is over most of my back and right shoulder then down the upper part of my arm. It???s in memorial of three friends that didn't make it home. A good friend designed it and there are five of us that wear them proudly. They do have differences, but are all based on the same design. They have three of our fallen comrades faces and the day they were killed, our unit patch (101st Airborne), and our dates in country. Both mine and one other from the group have the Ranger tab that we earned.
I had a dragon done on my right shoulder that my daughter came up with about seven years ago while we were living overseas. I recently got my daughter???s birthday, her anniversary, my grandson???s birthday, her husband???s service dates, and the day he died in Iraq with a memorial to him across my lower back.
If any of these offend you; I strongly recommend you get a life.

Cannot stop laughing at Juice's comment to Jewel. Sorry, Jewel, I'm sure you're a nice person, tattoo or clean canvas like myself. But that was just funny.

  • Posted By: Juiceman0909 @ 02/08/2008 4:08:35 PM

    Jewel:

Let's be honest here...you would probably do a lot better with me than the partner you currently have. I take it by your comment that even though you think you hate me, I did get you to smile at my comment. that is good. What a mouth you have though...do you talk like that around guys? they can't find that very endearing and when you get out of the joint, if you have any hope of snagging me, you are going to have to clean your act up somewhat.

    • Posted By: meetinthemiddle @ 02/08/2008 6:17:09 PM

I'm trying to remain respectful to both sides here, but this reply to Jewel is just plain funny. Super snappy comeback. P.S. I'm pretty sure "titties"is a cuss word too. Sure would wash my kids mouth with soap for saying it.

I don???t think that getting a tattoo is against the Lords will. It is not a sin to put something on your body that is in significance to him. I have an alpha and omega, a cross and a torn wreath and the word STRONGER on my back. How is it against God's will that I have that? It is showing my dedication to my Lord and Savior who died on the cross to save me, to save my soul. It is the way I express how I feel about him and how much I love him. So you think that only people who look "normal" would be accepted into Christ's arms? Now you are being totally shallow. You are not being loving and accepting, as Christ wants us to be. I know my lord loves me for who I am inside, not what I look like on the outside, if I had dreads and didn???t shower, guess what?!? My Lord would still love me!!!! I don???t care what you say about how I look, but when you bring my Lord into it, that offends me, you CANNOT tell me that Christ doesn???t love me, because guess what YOU DONT DESIDE THAT!!!! Please consider this opinion, and don???t go around hurting people who look different, because you already figure that Christ doesn???t love us.

Leviticus 19:28 in the New Living Translation says: "DO NOT CUT YOUR BODIES FOR THE DEAD, AND DO NOT MARK YOUR SKIN WITH TATTOOS. I AM THE LORD.
The King James version reads: YE SHALL NOT MAKE ANY CUTTINGS IN YOUR FLESH FOR THE DEAD, NOR PRINT ANY MARKS UPON YOU: I AM THE LORD.

      • Posted By: timjpearson @ 02/08/2008 6:06:24 PM

Legalists love to quote the verse from Levitcus out of context. When reading the Bible, context matters. That same chapter says 'Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material.' and 'Do not cut the hair at the sides of your head or clip off the edges of your beard.' This is descriptive text, not prescritive text. It's descriptive of the laws during a place and time. It's not prescriptive of how to live today. Jesus' death and resurection lifted these laws.

    • Posted By: nugget @ 02/08/2008 5:03:30 PM

I'm sure your LORD is so proud that you're so full of Christ's love that you've become some holier-than-thou, ranting idiot. Love God as much as you want, don't use God as a soapbox to make you feel better about yourself.

Well the truth comes out juice. Seeing as though you like to bring up people's ages that leads me to believe you are a baby boomer or pretty close. I guess back then tattoo's were considered trashy, especially on women. A tweety, on your wifes ass juice. Maybe you are just lashing out for all injustice you suffered due to your trailer park wife. newflash juice.... Im 38, successfull and oh my god I have tattoos. Times have changed and as far as bashing the 18 year olds, they are old enough to die for this country so I think they can get some ink if so inclined. Besides, I got my first one at 18 when I was in the military and it is still my favorite. It has not held me back nor do I regret it in any way.

    • Posted By: Cyanotica66 @ 02/08/2008 5:40:37 PM

One thing that us prior military members should note for the civilian population: We have a code of appearance standards that we have to conform to, which states that we may not have tattoos on our hands below the wrist, nor on the face, neck or visible through hair, on the head. These types of tattoos are much more prevalent with civilians. I admit, at 41 years of age, I may seem more conservative than you, but I forgot to mention what I had as a tattoo and where and how much it hurt! It reads "Abandon hope, all ye that enter" in modified gothic script, located on the inside of my upper thigh, right by my, well, you guess! I cried the whole time I was getting it done! That skin is thin and VERRRRY sensitive!

Right on! My fiance in a Marine who served time in Iraq. Most of his tattoos are based around the Marine Corps and he couldn't be prouder. And why not? That's something to be proud about. People like juice just don't get it and will never get it. They're just pissed there is nothing important in their life to remember forever whether it be kids, military service or whatever. He's probably still living at home in his mothers basement playing Halo and writing his ridiculous comments. And it is highly doubtful that this guy has a wife much less a wife w/ a tweety tat on her ass. That was a priceless comment though! :)

A tattoo is an expression of one's self. Just because I have a tattoo doesn't mean I'm a sl*ut, live in a trailer park, etc. In fact, quite the opposite. I'm a full-time professional and own my own business. I have 3 kids (and yes, a husband) and just finished building our $.5 million house. HA!! to all of those that judge. I hope GOD is watching over you!

Jesus has a tattoo and so do I. In Revelations 10:16 it says "...on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.". Are you going to tell me that's not a tattoo, come on!

  • Posted By: sacredhrt114 @ 02/08/2008 5:18:40 PM

The only thing I'll really say is not to do the foot unless you live somewhere that you can wear flip flops or open shoes most of the time. No matter how great they're done and how great they heal if you have to wear shoes and socks 6+ mos out of the year they'll fade and spot and look like crap in a few years and most places will charge you for a touch up because of this (whereas other areas usually they offer a free touch up as long as you have the tattoo!). The skin on your hands and feet regenerate much faster than the skin on other parts of your body... Just another thing to think about when getting a new tattoo!

    • Posted By: redness8 @ 02/08/2008 5:25:21 PM

Thanks for the info on the foot tattoo. I have been wanting one for awhile and never thought about it fading. I live in a southern state where we only wear shoes a couple of months out of the year so maybe this will be ok for me. Thanks again :-)

WOW... I dont even know where to begin. first off, tattoos give no indication of what a person is like. To stereotype or pass judgement upon another person based on the color of thier skin, whether it be natural or ink, is just another form of prejudice / racism. So what if I want to get a couple of tattoos? Am i hurting you in any way....NO. Besides, my tattoos are covered up while I am at work. Most of my colleages have no clue that I have them. I am a manager in a hospital, a gulf war Veteran and a father of three. I do not smoke pot, drink or put anything else in by body to alter who I am. I am completely happy with myself and I am not trying to be something that I am not. That being said, the complete ingnorance displayed in this post is astounding! Some of you should not be allowed to reproduce. Yes I mean you "AlostThought". I am sure you are a good human been, or is it bean.... no its being you jackass. Either way you are entitled to your opinion, just a little forethought next time could save you some grief.... or maybe you could just repeat the third grade and pass this time. All in all tattos may not be for you, but just let everyone else make up their own minds. whatever thier reasons: religion, self expression, body beautification or just the ol' standby "everyone else is doing it". Its thier choice, thier bodies and really none of your damn business!

I have 9 tattoos, one on the back of my neck, ankle, calf, thigh, lower back, right shoulder and left shoulder. They all hurt to some extent but the one that hurt the least was the first one I got on my neck. It did not hurt what so ever so I decided to have something added to it, the added on part hurt pretty bad. My ankle tat only hurt when it got right on the boney part. The one that hurt the most was the lower back tattoo, it about killed me. I know some females that got lower back tats and didn't flinch and I know some that you could hear screaming down the street. I guess it just depends on how much pain you can handle. The pain hasn't stopped me, I am getting more in the near future, I really want one on the top of my foot :-)

Hmm, Tattoos, blood, Hep C,HIV? Perhaps you would like to know what I do for a living. That's all I am going to say

    • Posted By: sacredhrt114 @ 02/08/2008 5:05:16 PM

If that's the correlation you make, then I'm going to guess that what you do for a living doesn't require you to use your brain! Do any research and you will understand that most tattoo artists actually working in a tattoo shop, parlor or studio actually go through rigorous training, are required to take classes every year for certification (bloodborne pathogens) to understand their environment, how diseases are spread and to prevent such a thing from occuring. If cared for properly and discretion used in selecting a tattoo artist you stand more of a chance catching a communicable disease from a door handle than getting a tattoo!

  • Posted By: lafoley @ 02/08/2008 1:50:20 PM

To Maria Garcia on the blood donation question: No it is NOT true. You CAN donate blood if you have been tattooed. The only exception is if you get a tat outside the USA. My fiance got one in Mexico and had to wait a year before he could donate. I have nine tattoos and have never been denied giving blood. I've gotten them all done by an accredited WI parlor. No worries. :)

Are you messing with me? If you're serious: I've only gotten my tattoos in Wisconsin. I've never gotten a tattoo in another country. Whether or not it hurts depends on what kind of tolerance you have and where you get it. It's pretty subjective. What hurts me might not hurt you and vice versa. Hope that helps. :)

I work in an office as a computer programmer/analyst and make very good money. It doesn't matter that I have tattoos. All of my bosses and my coworkers know that I have tattoos. Many of our customers know that I have tattoos. I got my last one just before our annual conference where all of our customers came into town. I purposely showed them my newest one that's the tribute to my son since they all know that I have a disabled son. So whoever said that people with tattoos can only get jobs in the entertainment business does not know what they are talking about.
