I like it when people talk about not judging. I suppose you would never teach your child not to judge whether the stove top burner hot is not even though it is glowing red. We have to exercise good judgement in all aspects of life. Open condemnation without basing your decisions on knowledge maybe what hoopes_az is referring to. As for Ska Himself, what are we to believe? Stop exercising our right of free speech based on your knowledge of senators, is that a threat? Sounds like one to me. Come on you are taking all of this way too serious. I mean what are those comments supposed to imply?

This is a fight that the "almighty" IRS totally lost; removing Scientology's 501(c)3 tax-exempt status. The IRS had the "church" on the ropes...and then suddenly lost the fight with a TKO from L. Ron Hubbard's ghost! How they lost the court case I simply do not know. But it is apparent that the "church" has political friends in very high places, not too mention powerful celebrities. Although America is overmedicated for the most part, there are legitimate ailments that only meds can address. Maybe the FBI can use the RICO act to go after the "Church of Scientology". Too bad Eliot Ness isn't around anymore; he would have no fear of them!

My point is that Americans too often have their priorities way out of line.

What a bunch of judging fools there are here. Folks tied to the desk chair ready to enlighten the rest of the world. Don't hide behind the claim that Scientology "destroys families"....I don't agree with scientology one tiny bit, but folks who do are entitled to worship how they may.

Get over yourselves already. If it is personally affecting your family, that's one thing, but the arguments I'm seeing are folks claiming that it is a danger to the public at large. Give people some credit and some leeway to make their own decisions in life.

As for the cult title, it's just a derogatory term used by self proclaimed "christians" to brand anything that doesn't match their beliefs exactly. So know that when you use the term cult, it has no bearing on reality. If it makes you feel better to call them a cult, then by all means feel free. But, it doesn't make it so.

Just a bunch of loud mouthed, biggoted, intolerant, ignorant, obnoxious...

lesbishop Somehow you classify your thought as free-thinking and sound and relegate all Scientologists to the garbage. How's that? You are right though. In your earlier post you lay out what a religion has to encompass. If you read the books Hubbard wrote you would find to your shock that Scientology meets all your criteria. Damn! You could be wrong!

    • Posted By: Ska Himself @ 02/09/2008 1:05:04 PM

You know what other books meet the criteria for religion? The Lord of the Rings series. The Lion, The Witch, and The Warddrobe series. Damn near every tale written by The Brothers Grimm. And so on and so forth.

Just because someone puts some thoughts, ideas, beliefs on paper and then a few people swallow them does not give those ideas any sort of validity whatsoever. Sure the author may gain a followin g BUT belief in fiction is still belief in fiction.

So lets say Scientology does meet ALL the criteria for a religion. Fantastic. That does not prove, in any way shape or form, that its beliefs or teachings have any sort of validity whatsoever.

In fact, if you give me a minute I can write my own pamphlet that includes a creation story, world view, ritualistic practices, and show how we donate to charity. Then BAM! I've got me a new religion. Where's my 501c?!?

Just because a pederast wrote a superinteresting alien story and you believe it doesn't make it true.

All hail Ska himself! Bow down to his infinite wisdom. Believe what he says for he speaks sooth.

Taunt us all you want peggers. Taunt us all you want.

The funny thing about a message board is it allows you too see someone for what they are.

For example, you alternate your time between baiting certain individuals on this board and then praising those whom you feel have defended you. Its not a wise move because it doesn't lend any strength to your position. Fight over here. Support over there. You only have a finite amount of energy. Do yourself a favor and stick with one tactic.

Furthermore, there are those of us who aren't the "script kiddie" goons that the internet is making us out to be. There are those of us who are lawyers, drs, professors, individuals of means. There are those of us who have the Justice Department and the IRS on speed dial on our phones. There are those of us who have the ears of current and former senators.

Don't take your enemy for granted. Do not underestimate us.

Oh Lord Xenu, smite and sue thy opponents; hide not on thy far away planets and by the way, could you lend me some money so I can have these itchy Thetans removed?

Attention! Attention! A new start up religion requesting tax exempt status. Based on the deep felt and religious minded doctine expressed in the diary written by a member of the "Psychic Network " entitled: UFO sifhtings.of the lost and forlorn. We believe in peace and love, just call our non-toll free number to learn more. Oh yes, we have a $4000.00 encylopedia set of our beliefs you can have with free shipping and handling. Remember, you must respect our right to express our religion and not be criticized by the blind and ignorant. Do you have young teenagers you have been having trouble with? We will house them for free while we use their labor to build our organization, how does that sound? Remember don''t hate me because I am religious. Hitler would have loved the Scientolgists.

Scientology is a cult, Xenu is a joke, and Tom Cruise is a frontman or a dupe for this set of nuts.

Being a Scientologist is a lot like being stuck in the Matrix. The whole time you are not aware of the fact that something is sucking the life force out of you while you live in a make believe world (the "matrix"). However, once you unplug yourself from the matrix, you will realize that you have been living in a lie all along! Mormons and Jehovah's Witnesses are cults, too...but minor in comparison to the L. Ron Hubbard cult!

@lesbishop: I find it insulting for you to harass and discriminate members of a religious minority for exercising their right of freedom of religion and conscience. That's just arrogant and blind. Face it, there are more people and viewpoints than just your own.

    • Posted By: Ska Himself @ 02/09/2008 1:14:25 PM

right of freedom of religion and conscience ...

Not every religious viewpoint is valid. Nor should everyone have free run of their "conscience". Hardline muslims interpret the Koran in such a way to promote violence towards women, suicide bombings, violence against homosexuals, and so on and so forth. Are we wrong to criticize these practices? Of course not.

Same with the bible. Some christians interpret it in such a way that leads to violence and hatred. Are we supposed to tolerate that? No.

Just because it comes under the guise of a religion, does not make the practices and acts of conscience of said members of said religion any sort of free reign to do what they want. You don't get a free pass in life just because "its what my religion teaches me or told me to do". You are accountable for all of your actions. So is every member of every church. So are the churches.

      And so is Scientology.

Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case - due to Scientology's tendancy to shut out "non-believers". But the problem is - there are problems. Missing people. Shady funding. Reports of abuse, murder, theft, vandalism, arson, suppression, stalking, coersion, and so on and so forth. They have to answer for these accusations.

If they are innocent. Fantastic. If not, they will pay.

    • Posted By: lesbishop @ 02/09/2008 12:47:18 PM

Arrogant and blind? From your point of view everyone could have the right to maim, abuse and steal based on their religious minority status. Well thought out retort!

  • Posted By: lesbishop @ 02/09/2008 12:09:16 PM

I find it insulting to my intelligence when mindless followers of a would-be religion (Church of Scientology) openly criticize my free thinking, highly educated, and well thought out reasonings about the faults of the Church of Scientology based on life experience.

    • Posted By: Peggo @ 02/09/2008 1:04:45 PM

Kind of hard to insult your intelligence, lesbishop, You have to HAVE some first.

  • Posted By: OhHai @ 02/09/2008 9:54:16 AM

Scientology denied the proper medical treatment to Lisa McPherson. Scientology kills and no amount of rhetoric will make that go away. http://www.whyaretheydead.net

    • Posted By: Peggo @ 02/09/2008 1:02:48 PM

OhHai You are so out of the loop on Lisa McPherson it's pathetic. The civil and criminal cases dumped when the courts found no evidence to pin any wrongdoing on the Scientologists. But of course you know better than the courts.

Anonymous/Internet is not attacking you, nor your beliefs. They are after the recruitment/control and management techniques of the leaders and foundation. You are free to believe whatever you wish.

Anonymous has actually called off all illegal and gray-area tactics (or at least TRIED, a group that doesn't exist within a known organizational chart is hard to control....score -1 for Scientology).

The group (or nanotech entity of individual freeminds known as the internet if you will) have taken to peaceful protest. Check out February 10th where worldwide protests and informational distribution will be held at a good majority of Scientology Orgs (aka Churches).

They are pretty well communicated in the tactics known to be used by Scientologist 'Handlers' * why try Bull-Baiting' * them into causing trouble, or infiltrating their ranks and starting dissent from the inside via 'Fair Game' *

In other words, come out, protest to help others, and don't let yourself be provoked into anything by the verbal abuse and taunting the 'handlers' * will dish out.

For those in the Church/Org, the best resource I can give you is this:

    http://www.exscn.net/

Decription: ???This message board is for ex Scientologists to freely discuss mutual experiences in Scientology. It covers such topics as L. Ron Hubbard, David Miscavige and current management, auditing and training, Ethics tech and it's application, OSA, fair game, Clear & OT levels, Freewinds, and recovering from a cult experience.???

Read from those that have been there, and had the strength to break free.
Also examine FREEZONE where people practice the methods and beliefs of Scientology without lining the pockets of its leaders.

Religious freedom is one thing, Extorting people for their money by dangling betterment in front of them like a carrot is something altogether different.

    * = Google these for clarification on definition in regard to the Church of Scientology

Guys, I wouldn't expect you to belive me when I say scientology is bad. This isn't about religion at all. Its about the very bad and evil actions of a group that uses religion to promote its evil acts. If you want to belive in scientology as a faith then I wish you the best and for peace in your life. However if you are going to use that faith to hurt and destory people and families then we have a problem. I have seen the members of scientology post all over the place here and in every case its attack and never defend the bad actions of scientology. Because there is no way to defend or take out of context " dispose of quietly and without sorrow" Don't belive me, don't belive anyone here. All I ask is that you check on your own and decide for yourself. Visit the scientology.org site and see what they have to say. Then check out xenu.net and xenutv.com and see the other side. Funny how not one member of scientology will ask you to look at both sides. I have faith you will agree with me after you have seen the thousands of court and public records proveing the evil acts of this group. Even more so when you see the hundreds of news video's on xenutv.com and the video's of the members of scientology in action. See for yourself, decide on your own.

    L. Ron Hubbard started "Scientology" to thwart the IRS. He wrote some crap about aliens and a few idiots on dope believed him. Now you have Hollywood idiots getting on the bandwagon and why? Because none of them have an original thought to express and can't think for themselves. It's OK Tommy, time to have your milk and cookies! Do't forget to brush your teeth before you go to bed. Do you have to pee? Better do that too...What? You don't know if you should wear the red Jammies or the pink ones?? Put your thinking cap on and ask Xenu to help you.

  • Posted By: drupus2 @ 02/09/2008 12:39:36 PM

ok...think you are all missing the big picture. ALL churches and religious organizations in the US should be stripped of their tax exempt status...period.
