Freedom of religion is not freedom to hurt those who disagee with you. Freedom of religion does not give one the right to commit crimes. Freedom of religion does not give one group the right to take away the rights of others. As importent as Freedom of religion is its just as importent to have Freedom FROM religion. If you want to see what all the fuss is about check out xenu.net and xenutv.com

Furthermore, please have a look at this "confidential" video that was leaked. Tell me this is NOTHING short of a regime ONLY comperable to the Nazi's themselves. They wage war against psychiatry... why? I wonder... maybe because this is the only thing available to ATTEMPT to reverse the damage that has so been deeply ingrained in these people. Even scarier, see how deep their hand reaches. They clearly admit they are using their front groups as gimmicks to enroll new people. Ok, EVEN SCARIER. Who are they trying to enroll? "...targetting 12-18 year olds..." not to mention "NARCONON" for drug abusers seeking rehabilitation. This is DISGUSTING. This a PROLIFIC epidemic and I am shocked that it's taken the world over 50 years to finally figure out what they are all about. Thankfully there have been enough ex-Scientologists who have stepped forward to show the world their documents, videos, and taped speaches.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfu7Sr50N7U <- David Miscaviage, the LEADER of Scientologist proudly bragging to a huge group of Scientologists about how they're well on the way to "clearing the planet" - or in other words, removing anyone with any logical ability to think for themselves.

Defend that.. PLEASE. I am ALL ears.

Answer for Quantum_Idea: Anonymous are not bigots. We strongly believe in individualism and human rights, which includes the right to believe what one will. However, the exploitation of trusting followers is an act that cannot simply be overlooked. The members of the church of Scientology, and their sacred beliefs (many of which I personally hold to be good) are not under attack from "Anon," as the organization (or lack there of) is called for short, but instead the institution of the "Church" of Scientology. This means that the highly expensive religious texts, auditing sessions, and abusive practices (which includes but is not limited to there
of) is called for short, but instead the institution of the "Church" of Scientology. This means that the highly expensive religious texts, auditing sessions, and abusive practices (which includes but is not limited to the acts of Sea Org), and over-secrecy protected by ruthless litigation, must come to an end before Anonymous will be satisfied. As far as Anonymous is concerned, they can think they have alien ghosts infecting their souls if they really want; Anon doesn't really care about *that.*

    continued....

Now, they've gotten so big that they own property all over the country, and it is impossible to stop it. They infiltrated the FBI, they infiltrated the tax department... , the funny thing is, Ron Hubbard and I still occasionally communicate with each other. Every once in a while, a couple or three times a year, we exchange letters. And I write to him, you know, and I say, "Hey Ron, when is this ---- going to cease?
These cuckoos are really driving me crazy! They come around the house with pamphlets!" And he writes me back, and he says, "It's the good work, it's the good work."
It's all very funny stuff. He was going to write a new story for me for the last Dangerous Visions, but I guess he got too busy counting his money. I don't know.

Let's let author Harlan Ellison explain it. I'll spare you the swear words...

Let's let author Harlan Ellison explain it. I'll spare you the swear words...
Ellison: Scientology is bull----! Man, I was there the night L. Ron Hubbard invented it, for --- Sakes! I was sitting in a room with L. Ron Hubbard and a bunch of other science fiction writers. L. Ron Hubbard was famous among science fiction writers because he was the first one to have an electric typewriter.
Ellison: That's true. He wrote Dianetics in one weekend, and you know how he used to write? He used to take a roll of white paper, like paper you wrap fish in. He had it on the wall, and he would roll it into the typewriter and he would begin typing. When he was done, he would tear it off and leave it as one whole long novel.
We were sitting around one night... who else was there? Alfred Bester, and Cyril Kornbluth, and Lester Del Rey, and Ron Hubbard, who was making a penny a word, and had been for years. And he said "This bull---'s got to stop!" He says, "I gotta get money." He says, "I want to get rich".
Ellison: Right. And somebody said, "why don't you invent a new religion?
They're always big." We were clowning! You know, "Become Elmer Gantry!
You'll make a fortune!" He says, "I'm going to do it." Sat down, stole a little bit from Freud, stole a little bit from Jung, a little bit from Alder, a little bit of encounter therapy, pre-Janov Primal Screaming, took all that ----, threw it all together, invented a few new words, because he was a science fiction writer, you know, "engrams" and "regression", all that ----. And then he conned John Campbell, who was crazy as a thousand battlefields. I mean, he believed any god--- thing. He really believed blacks were inferior. I mean he really believed that. He was also very nervous when I was in his office because I was a Jew. You know, he was afraid maybe I would spring horns or something. Anyhow, the way he conned John was that he had J. A. Winter, who was a doctor, who was a close friend of John's, and he got him to run this article on Dianetics, the new science of mental health.
Wings: Dianometry was the first article, I believe.
Ellison: Right. And science fiction fans will go for any --- thing.
So science fiction fans picked it up, they began proselytizing, he started making money, when he had made enough money he was able to spread out a little more, then he got more cuckoos, you know, pre-Charlie Manson ---holes that had no place else to go, and he began talking to these loons as if Dianetics really meant something. Then he wanted to get tax-exempt status, so he called it "The Church of Scientology".

Perhaps it is a con, perhaps those involved truly believe it is a religion. Where is the differentiation between a religion and a cult? There are religions that still institute mandatory tithing, is there no profit there? A religion is defined by dictionary.com as 'a set of beliefs concerning the cause, nature, and purpose of the universe, esp. when considered as the creation of a superhuman agency or agencies, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs.'
Just because the church prescribes to a completely different set of beliefs from many conventional western religions, does that make them any less of a religion. If you attack a religious organization solely on the grounds that it is out to make money, consider the organization that holds the most real estate in the world as well as hordes the largest private art collection in the world. Those distinctions go to the Catholic Church.

Mr. Hubbard may have had a point about religion being where the money is, but in this land of opportunity and 'capitalistic expression' what is fundamentally wrong with starting a religion for the monetary gains?

To add to mitch's post, this is a similar quote he is referring to with a credible source: "Writing for a penny a word is ridiculous. If a man really wants to make a million dollars, the best way would be to start his own religion." - L. Ron Hubbard 1940's, re-published in Readers Digest - May 1980

    Need anonymous say anymore?

  • Posted By: respectful_anon @ 02/08/2008 8:29:32 PM

Quantum_Idea - Anonymous supports free speach and freedom of religion as well. We also support human rights, which this cult is grossly guilty of on several different levels (mental, physical, sexual, slave labor). There are no other secretive religions that do not share with you the basic beliefs the church is foundated upon nor does any religion in the world charge so much money in order to learn these beliefs that you don't even know if you will agree with. There needs to be a line drawn between a clear and distinct corporate-cult and an authentic religious organization. The reason they have been targetted in specific is because they are a billion dollar company with locations all over the globe. It is nothing short of an epidemic. It is WELL documented within their OWN literature that the overall bottom line goal is world domination. I strongly encourage you to do some independent research into their "classified" documents which are now widely available all over the internet. Furthermore, if you're curious at all, please see my post on alt.religion.scientology which exposes the blatant inconsistencies in their literature itself. L. Ron Hubbard literally TELLS you Scientology itself is a LIE "implanted in your brain by aliens". I *WISH* I could make this stuff up!! http://groups.google.com/group/alt.religion.scientology/browse_thread/thread/ffe0fb204263b9d4#6fbaea28f95022dd

I studied for a year within the church, introduced to the church by my "actor "boyfriend who i think was enventually told not to see me anymore as i was not participating enough in the studies of the church. I think maybe Nicole experienced the same thing. my experience is they do try to end relationships if one partner is not participating.

Scientology is not as simple because the desperate attempt by the "Church" is to shroud it in mystery that can only be unravelled through an immense amount of money and time. When they reach that level, they are either brainwashed or greedy enough to want to stay or they leave the church, only to be continually harassed by the church.

Maybe you should read the testimonies of former members? What do you know, you can find them ALL OVER THE INTERNET.

The days of "lulz" which is a stupid catchphrase anyway, are over. It is about bringing the very information to the public that the CoS is so desperately trying to surpress.

    Sorry Alex,

This has nothing to do with religion, it has to do with the evil action's of scientology. why not check out xenu.net to see the many court and public records about the actions of scientology. Then why not visit xenutv.com to see the many news programs and other tv shows about it.? You really can't defend what you beive in if you don't have all the facts.

  • Posted By: alexsingh @ 02/08/2008 8:04:08 PM

The new young activists have found a cause, bringing down scientology. The danger is in how much their passion is based on the easy characterizations found on the internet, where facts seem to be equated with the existence of a url containing an assertion. Scientology is not as simple as the stories make it seem, its followers not the dupes the anons would believe. The "lulz" that motivate the anons, (lulz coming from the internet abreviation lol for laugh out loud), is hardly the purest motivation in a matter religion.

Nice try, chewyandbert. For all the NON Scientologists reading this article, please please please do a little research on the unbelievable amount of atrocities are bubbling up that this corporation disguised as a religion commit.

How would you feel if you found out the Catholic Church was secretly run by Amway? Would you not want them to pay taxes first and uncover the truth second?

The saddest thing is that low-level Scientologists have no idea this stuff is going on. They are sheltered from information and are even told that if they learn too much about their religion before they reach the appropriate level it could KILL them. What does it take to get to the appropriate level?

Well expensive b.s. classes, volunteer work and abandoning your friends and family, supposedly "suppressive persons" of course? This evil empire needs to be exposed. It has already started and can't be stopped. Finally the internet works for a GOOD cause.

    Aww Chewyandbert,

scientology is about the last bunch who can cry out for freedom of speech. How many critics have they tried to destory over the years after they used their freedom of speech?
    google- scientology and fair game

How many lawsuits have they filed over the years, including lawsuits against the press which they have never won.
google - scientology and the cult of greed (Time)

Most critics disagee with any action taken against scientology websites. We want people to read the scientology.org site. Then they can visit xenu.net and xenutv.com and make up their own minds.

Anonymous has changed over the past two weeks. They are setting up protest for this Sunday, 10 Feb 2008 all over the world and are asking everyone to be peaceful and obey the laws. Freedom of speech is not just for those who are in scientology. But then scientology has writeings that say anyone who doesnt agree with them my be destoryed without sorrow.
Google- scientology and '" dispose of quiety and without sorrow"
    scientology and the tone scale

I hope you and others take the time to read not only the sites I agree with but also the scientology sites. I have faith people will see the truth

Gee chewyandbert comment sounds like they are describing the covert bully arm of the Church of Scientology, called OSA. Isn't that what OSA does? In the Church of Scientology one cannot think for themselves. If one disagrees with Hubbardian scripture they are asked to find out what word they misunderstood and look it up in a dictionary until they agree with Hubbard.

  • Posted By: Gnosis5 @ 02/08/2008 7:50:04 PM

Scientology separates children from their parents in the name of "Clearing the Planet". The worst thing about the Church of Scientology, in my opinion is that the church leaders are doing it solely for the money while the poor enslaved members work for $50 a week and pay up to $300k for "The Bridge to Total Freedom". There have also been allegations of pedophilia. Visit Ex-Scientologist Message Board for true stories.
