Nice try, Eleanor Clift! The country is sick and tired of the Clintons and the Bush's. It is time to cut a fresh path to the future. The American people deserve better. We are not all imbeciles, resigned to what the elite party operatives hand - down to us. The youth of this country have overwhelmingly supported Barak Obama. The Clintons have too much baggage, coming-in. Obama will carry all those states that Hilary carried in the
November elections. America can do better than retreating into the past. The world is a different place than what Bill and Hilary left behind. The world expects America to grow past the politics of race and name-recognition. An Obama administration will breath a fresh "breathe of life" into the nostrils of ALL OF HUMANITY" Let us not suffocate that dream

No, I'm sorry, but B.O. will not carry the bluestates that Hillary took.. I can understand youthful enthusiam - I passionately supported McGovern, and we were so sure he'd win, and it broke our hearts when the older and more establisment Dems did not vote for him. But now I understand why, and as a lifelong hard core democrat, I won't be voting for B.O. in the fall either.
Some baggage is good -- if that baggage is social security, medicaid and medicare, health care, housing, worker protection, jobs.--- the things that define people's lives more than the "fresh air" of hope or change. If B.O. spends a few years as vp or enough terms in the Senate to acquire some good baggage of him own, then maybe we can trust him with our lives. But, as I see it, America gave a "nice guy" with no experience 7 years to play with the country and the world, and he broke them both, badly. It's just not very smart to risk that again.. Many of us get our inspiration in church and our fresh air mowing the yard. From our president, we want to know what she's done in the past and that she's qualified to do the job.

I agree totally! I will not support BO because of his arrogance. I too voted for McGovern and saw him emplode. Other HRC supporters I have talked to are thinking of voting for McCain before BO. The media wants BO--let them have him and the Republicans will have a hay day

AMEN! Great points. effijay's comment, I hope 'heard,' - "the world is a different place..." w/o referece to people, we must move forward in this rapidly changing world and demand the highest integrity, and greatest experience from our leaders. Money can't 'hack' it. For those who have wealth often have little understanding of the lives of our world siblings on the "street" exists. Only knowlege we can prove about a candidate merits our vote.
Those who care about our children and our elders must be elected, if they have experience in the one place in the US that "bozzles the mind (Ann Richards)" - Washington, DC. Its time we elected true, courageous leaders to the House and Senate (not the wealthy), also - so they'll put an immediate stop to any president who so much as indicates shaping our nation to suit his/her perception of "Executive Privilege."

VERY WELL SAID. KEEp in my mind that if HILLARY LOSES TEXAS AND OHIO SHE WILL EXpERIENCE A MUTINY OF SUpER DELEGATES. AT HAS ALREADY STARTED IN WISCONSIN. ONE OF HER STAUNCHES supporters in MILWAKEE and also a super delegate has decided to endorse OBAMA.
IF OBAMA WINS TEXAS AND OHIO THE RACE WILL NO LONGER BE CLOSE ENOUGH FOR HILLARY TO BRING FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN INTO play.
WE WOULD SEE A REpEAT OF NINEETEEN SIXTY EIGHT where riots broke out in CHICAGO at the democratic convention. IF THAT WERE TO HAppen McCain would have a clear path to the presidency and attract many independent voters.
IF FLORIDA AND MICHIGAN WERE TO BE CONSIDERED AGAIN, then they would have to hold the contests again and allow OBAMA AND HILLARY TO campaign in those states. HOWEVER, IT WILL NOT COME TO THAT. IF EITHER CANDIDATE WINS BOTH TEXAS AND OHIO THEN THEY WILL BE THE EVENTUAL NOMINEE.

OBAMA HAS TO push the WAR ISSUE IN TEXAS AN OHIO. HE HAS TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT HIS plan will save BILLIONS for taxpayers. THIS MONEY IS NEEDED QUICKLY IN OHIO in order to get individuals back to work. Many of them lost their jobs as a result of the FREE TRADE AGREEMENT HILLARY VOTED FOR.

AS A RESULT 93,000 people in the state are living WITHOUT unemployment benefits, God and guns can't compete with economic issues. THIS IS WHY ALL THE UNIONS ARE supporting OBAMA
OBAMA VOTED AGAINST THE AGREEMENT AND HAS BEEN AN ADVOCATE FOR KEEpING JOBS HERE AT HOME.

REMEMBER KARL ROVE CLEVERLY SLIppED IN GAY MARRIAGE ON THE OHIO BALLOT in 2004. AS a

RESULT BUSH WON NARROWLY OVER KERRY. THIS TIME ECONOMICS WILL BE THE NUMBER ONE ISSUE IN OHIO AND TEXAS.
THE WAR AND THE ECONOMY ARE DIRECTLY LINKED.

THERE IS NO WAY ONE CAN FUND THE WAR AND HEALTH CARE. OBAMA's HEALTH plan has a BETTER chance to pass CONGRESS AND THE SENATE. HILLARY IS TO DIVISIVE AND the REpUBLICANS WILL BLOCK HER "big" AGENDA ISSUES as they did in ninety four.
WILL TEXAS AND OHIO SHOW THE WORLD THAT CALIFORNIA AND NEW YORK NO LONGER DECIDE WHO THE NOMINEE WILL BE.

CAN IT BE THAT DEMOCRACY STILL WORKS? IF OBAMA WINS IT WILL show the world that the majority of the AMERICAN people of all STATES, big and small, DECIDE WHO WILL BE THE NOMINEE OF THE DEMOCRATIC party.
THIS ALSO SETS A GOOD EXAMple for THE WORLD and a BIG REASON HILLARY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE A COMEBACK IF SHE LOSES THESE STATES.

    HILLARY'S LAST STAND
    in OHIO and TEXAS

THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT HILLARY"S CAMpaign in TEXAS AND OHIO WILL BE DESperate. THE MESSAGE HAS BEEN SENT THAT SHE MUST WIN THESE STATES. IT is her LAST STAND.
JUST like the famous battle of thermopylae in 480 BC HILLARY IS MAKING HER LAST STAND.
HILLARY AND HER ARMY OF LATINO'S HOpe to SWEEp TEXAS AND OHIO.
OBAMA CANNOT COMpete with her desperate grass roots campaign.
SO HE HAS TO WIN THE BATTLE IN THE MEDIA.
HE HAS TO BLITZ TEXAS WITH COMMERICIALS AND HUGE STATIUM LIKE RALLY's.
OBAMA HAS TO WELL in THESE STATES and at least win one.
WILL TEXAS AND OHIO SEND A MESSAGE TO THE WORLD THAT CALIFORNIA AND NEW YORK NO LONGER DECIDE WHO THE NOMINEE WILL BE.
THIS WILL BE VERY HISTORIC AND is a SIGN OF THAT EVERY STATE COUNTS.
HILLARY MADE A BIG MISTAKE NOT FIGHTING IN WISCONSIN.

Obama has been clear, consistent and honest from the beginning....His concrete policy proposals are a far cry from Hill's "abstract" universal health care plan which was already demonstrated to be unaffordable even back in 1992.....compared to Obama's affordable health care plan covering children first then phasing in the rest of Americans with a common-sense approach.....

Seems like his "activism" is more realistic than hill's pie-in-the-sky fantasies and rhetoric.....combine that with her divisive personality, insulting voters, and the fact that she barely won in NY State, despite the fact that we have a closed primary, meaning all us "independents" and "activisits" were disenfranchised.....and not even allowed to participate and she wouldn't even stll be in the race....

Once you get beyond the name-calling, rhetoric, and bill's histrionics, the choice is clear!!

I switched to Obama after the Clinton's went negative in South Carolina. I don't think they actually started it but boy did they run with it once it got going. Obama represents a real break from the past and doesn't bring along 40%+ negatives and a long history of questionable business dealings. With Hillary in the White House what we get from day one is what had last time. Endless bickering and demonization of the opposition.

  • Posted By: Ganpat @ 02/12/2008 6:38:22 AM

I agree with those who believe Obam is an infallible god - with this small difference, that I will agree with them when, a few months after the god's inauguration, his worshippers are bitterly disillusioned.

I think if it comes down to Obama having more "pledged" delegates, and more states - and Hillary winning more votes - the edge goes to Obama. As we saw in 2000, Electoral college wins count over popular vote wins. If Hillary racks up more votes in states like NJ and NY, but loses more states and delegates to Obama, I think it shows that he would be the stronger candidate in the fall. Does ANYONE seriously think Obama will lose NY, NJ, MA, and CA to John McCAin? Of course not. And with the enthusiasm factor in this Primary Season favoring the Democrats by almost two to one in most contests compared to the GOP, it is highly likely that many "Purple" states like Missouri and Iowa could be won by Obama. He has shown he can appeal to Independent and GOP cross-over voters. He could even win some "Red" states like Kansas and Nebraska! He has won in ALL parts of the country. Washington, Idaho, Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Illinois, Maine, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, etc., etc.!! 19 states and counting! The key, I think, is that he has shown that Pat Buchanan is way-off in his insisting that Obama wins mainly in heavily Black populated states. Nebraska? Kansas? Maine? And in Maine, Obama broke through that "blue-collar white voter wall" that Pat has also talked about. Pat is funny. I call it the "Buchanan Barometer!" The more it "points" toward Hillary, the better Obama is doing! Pat is salivating at the prospect of having Hillary as the GOP's opponent. But - he SAYS Hillary would be much more formidable! But you can see even he has trouble keeping a straight face when he says Hillary would be the better nominee. Back to the main point! I think Obama would be the better nominee as he has broader appeal - both geographically and among Independents and GOP voters. He will win all of the states that Hillary has won - and so many more!!

"vague generalities " I feel the same way - how are empty slogans going to push us to a better place and time. i ask please Senator Obama please let us know where you are coming from because when you say we are all sick of the current way things are i think someone forgot to ask me, my friends and my family because sir we are enjoying freedom and wealth unparalled in history i look around in this country and i say i could live here forever but if you want to CHANGE that i am scared. Please let me know what is going to change, i want things better but overall i really like my country. thank you.

I am counting Clinton out as of now.

But Obama will be slaughtered by McCain.

Obama is merely a three-year Eenator who talks in vague generalities and is good at organising caucuses. McCain is a war hero with decades of pilitical experience and a moderate stance on the economy and social issues.

It will bea landslide McCain win. White women and Hispanics will back McCain.

"OBAMA HAS THE POTOMAC STATES ON LOCK MD/VA/DC.
THE OBAMA WAVE IS SWEEPING THE NATION."

    Congratulations Senator Obama.

OBAMA HAS THE POTOMAC STATES ON LOCK MD/VA/DC.
THE OBAMA WAVE IS SWEEPING THE NATION. IT IS A MOVEMENT. IF OBAMA WINS TEXAS, OHIO AND PENNSYLVANIA HILLARY WILL EXPERIENCE A MUTINY OF SUPER DELEGATES.
ONCE AGAIN, ITS UP TO THE LATINO'S TO BAIL HILLARY OUT

AMERICAN CORPORATIONS HAVE SOLD THEIR SOULS TO THE CHEAPEST LABORER EDDIEWHERE 2008. THIS IS A FACT.

" George W. Bush and his entire Cabinet of Adviosrs are wanted for treason. This is no secret and it can be stated so safely, knowing full well that the US Congress has failed to serve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

i hope you are not correct because if so then we are all going to jail because we all voted our President and all of the other members of congress (the real big $ ballers) in and it becomes GUILTY BY ASSOCIATION. we am not commenting from Africa or India or some Antarctic wasteland where we can distant ourselves from what has been going on - we are all guilty - united we STAND AND FALL.

  • Posted By: kcarizona @ 02/11/2008 12:36:27 AM

Get George W. Bush out of office and in jail and then have an election.

You can put him in jail over my dead body!!

"If anyone has reason to smile, it's McCain..."

What? He was booed at CPAC, he has people running away from him (the bad ones -mercifully for him). I think at this point he is better off than democrats, but only at this point. However, that's hardly reason to celebrate.
McCain will doubtless gain more support as November approaches but he has already turned-off too many independents, including me. If he was the man he was eight years ago he'd doubtless win but McCain sold his soul.

Is it possible that the "smoke rooms" could turn up another name for president.?

  • Posted By: baileymrz3 @ 02/10/2008 3:09:36 PM

Democracy is an interesting word right now. With all the talk of superdelegates it adds another weird twist to this already whacky political season. It is the Dems who want every vote to count beckoning back to the Florida recount fiasco. However, the Democratic party has created the anti-democractic superdelegate concept to keep "unworthy" candidates from getting the party nomination. In a true deocracy, nobody should be afraid of letting the people speak and be heard. Superdelegates may take control of the process and mute the voice of the everday citizen in the political process. When you break it down to a simplistic level, why would the superdelegate concept make sense and be embraced in a democratic system. We the people should mean just that instead of we the elite and elected hierarchy of the democratic party will have the final word. Superdelegates sound like a way to rig elections in third world countries.

I know only a couple Muslims but i must say that they are some very fine people. i see the Muslims and their work ethic, family values and so much beauty that it hurts me to see people rail hate against someone because they call God a different name. As a christian i personally don't care if he is Muslim or Hindu or Jew or whatever, i care what kind of leader he is when the bombs start to drop, markets fall and the s### hits the fan. Since when does God need you to be right to use you. He uses us whether we like it not just like He created us and we came into this world a screaming bloody mess - too bad He is in control and not you or me. Glory to God!! Obama has been shining alot lately so maybe he could teach us all something about another culture or way of doing things better. Let's be real, we all hate to see someone sitting back in smug arrogance promoting their religion and ideology as the only way and not able to look past the ignorance to the BIG PICTURE. Go Hillary - who will protect groups such as homosexuals who even though i am not one of am not against either - if God is than i am going to let him take care of that and he doesn't need my help.

Kudos, kcarizona! Right on. Each one of us has a right to our personal beliefs. I, too, know many Muslims and admire their knowlege, faithfulness, and global concerns for others, starting in the home. We must move beyond "religion," sexual "orientation," race, gender, et al, in politics in America--it does not serve us well. We are moving so rapidly in this changing world, those who perpetuate lagging will be left behind.

More studies in the humanities (vs. sports) must prevail before we can return to our pre-emminence in education, the flag ship of American successs in the world.

  • Posted By: Survivor-mi50 @ 02/10/2008 2:20:43 PM

Firstly, BO did not refuse to pledge allegiance to our flag! It wasn't the Pledge to which he did not raise his hand...the others did so inappropriately. Let's get off innendo and hearsay.

The problem with Obama is his strange rapid rise to visiibity. Such is anametha to American politics; any politics. Look what we got now because of the "American Political Machine." He is not yet prepared to be president of the finest nation in the world. The only aspect of support he may rely on if he is elected, is the consistency of American form of government - albeit, the greatest asset our nation still possesses.

Americans must wake up, and delve into what is best for our nation--only then may we continue to help the rest of the world--after we heal ourselves, first. The last 7+ years have been one horror after another, making the electorate highly vulnerable to "quick fixes." We must have someone in office who'll hit the ground running, in coattails, or heels!
