Comment: To the retired Marine....retired marine means you are enjoying the socialized medicine given to you by your government in exchange for your services, yes? The same socialized medicine that is working WELL in most civilized nations. I do not understand how you, the beneficiary of socialized medicine called Tricare, Triwest whatever, how you would not want your fellow Americans have the same benefit. Shame.... The Clintons are connected to meoney and Wall Street, yes, but something went wrong in the last seven years of Republican Rule with VEEPEE Emperor Cheney...

Comment: Got thinking about your post. First off, if you work and receive compensation.... that is far from socialism. Sounds more like capitalism doesn't it? Whether it is money, goods or services, you performed work and are being paid. Granted I would much rather have a better retirement income instead of lower cost medical insurance, but really didn't have the choice. I would venture to say that retirees from most companies get much better retirement than military personnel do. My retirement is so weak I have to have another job just to "TRY" to make ends meet. Next, have you left the US at all? Socialised medicine DOES NOT WORK in other countries. Which explains in part why people come to America for medical treatment. Yes it is expensive here, but when hurt... you will be seen. I have experienced "Socialised medicine" with my injured children. Here they were in pain, but I'm sorry, you have to set an appointment, we might be able to see the child in a week. So you have the lower QUALITY and a long wait. I would hope that you would do a little research before trying to make me sound jaded in my opinions. Socialism does not work. Don't try to twist "EARNED benefits" into handouts. Pretty pathetic but understandable... liberals always twist the truth to try to force their point of view.

Comment: Retired does not mean you are receiving handouts for free as your post suggests. Tricare isn't free. Delta Dental is FAR from free...

Comment: No, I am paying for this coverage. In addition to my premiums, I spent 20+ yrs serving in subhuman conditions "earning" what few benefits I have. Nothing was handed to me. Maybe you should sacrifice time, energy, sweat, tears, Blood first before asking for handouts

Comment: I have a problem with Mrs. Clinton, why didn't you run in 2004 when Bush was ruining America and ruing the world??

I always thought the Clintons are a good fried of the Bushs more than any of us willing to admit.

Mrs.Clinton did not run in 2004 because (1) she cared more about herself than the country or the Democratic party; and (2) Mrs.Clinton did not want to ruing Bush's friendship by running against the Bushes.

Did anybody think WHY in the world she is running only now, not in 2004???

Comment: If you know anything about Hillary, you would know that your first answer says it all. Hillary doesn't give a rats ass about the country. For her it is all about the power. She may come off one way while politicking for the vote, but as Secret Service and those in the military that have been around her can attest, she is a ***. This woman treats everyone like *** and as though they are beneath her. As for firends with Bush, have you been under a rock? She is the biggest Bush hater around. Hillary would do more to send our country into socialism and ruin than any other person out there.

Comment: if republican have the sense to elect a presidentail candidate who can get the real job done in this country, maybe we donot have sekect men who have not clearedup important issue in its previous state. How can he run the country if he have bad issue in his past effecting his home state. handle those problem first before you tactical problem ona large scale here and abroad. example; i cannot get the executive level job I trained for and was educated to do, nor can i make a workable income to live on, the degree level which i am accustomed. therefore, let get a president who can do the job not hiden the real problem of its state.

Comment: WOW, it's working....I am a life long Republican and it's truly entertaining to see how
easily manipulate the clueless democratic party is. We'v had an underground move
ment for months to have Obama nominated to represent the Demo's in November.
That way, we sail into the White House in November..I am a Texan, so next week,
we, the Republican majority, having settled OUR Republican candidate, will show up
in droves at the polls to vote for Obama...We know that WHITE Americans will swarm
the polls in November to stop the election of Obama. We do not have the time or
luxury to afford to allow Obama cut his teeth in the White House. BY all means
VOTE OBAMA, that way we'll have 4 more years...

Comment: Now we hear that Hillary will not release her tax returns until after she is the Democratic nominee--if that actually happens.

Why does she want to withhold such information from her fellow Democrats?

It seems pretty risky for the Democratic Party to nominate someone who will not level with it.

Why should we trust her? The Clintons don't exactly have reputations as truth tellers.

Diogenes would have given both a wide berth.

Comment: Hillary Clinton says that if she passes her health care plan, it will include provisions to garnish workers' wages.

Such confiscatory language shows she has not learned anything from the fight during the 1990s on health care, and how the Democrats will again lose the battle and probably the White House if she is leading the Party.

Experience is all well and good, but one should learn from it.

    Clearly Sen. Clinton has not.

Comment: Ha Ha... what kind of dope thinks the Democrats fear McCain? HE IS ONE OF THEM!

He's an angry, nasty old man... and Huckadumbell is a lying hypocrit... Televangelist style.

  • Posted By: irvinef @ 02/09/2008 5:25:06 PM

Comment: McCain has benefitted greatly in that Hucklebee and Romney split the conservative vote with all the moderates voting for McCain; most of his wins have been with less than 50%of the voters. Now the establishment and liberal press will not even point out the differences between McCain and Hucklebee on issues...and these are real...and matter to voters, especially conservatives. Lets have another debate where these differences are explored and then see what the voters say.

Comment: Give them hell John!! The debt building, earmark cowards are scared to death of Mr. McCain. Look out special interest! I love seeing all the Hollywood elite, only able to donate $2300 each, instead of the $100,000's!! The lobbiest is washington know that John is going to be hard to push over on spending, why do you think the Washington establishment both Democrat and Republican alike don't like John McCain. It is all about Money!! God Bless John McCain.

  • Posted By: Stop PC Crowd @ 02/09/2008 1:12:46 PM

Comment: John MCCain scares the Democrats! They know he was the only Republican candidate that can and will beat them. Shame on Rush Limbaugh and the Republican establishment for there attacks of such a high integrity man as John McCain. He is the real deal, a fiscal conservative that even out does Barry Goldwater. The politicians in Washington both Democrat and Republican are scared to death of John because they know he will not be a big spender and that all their earmarks and special interest money will be gone!! God Bless John McCain!!

Comment: Though I appreciate the coverage of Mike Huckabee, I really wish the media would stop endorsing John McCain and presenting him as the choice of the Republican party! He is not the winner, and he is not the choice of the conservatives in the Republican party! If Romney had dropped out sooner, we would see who the real choice for America is! I really resent the media continually calling the winners in a race that is still open. I resent the fact that they try to sway votes toward one or two candidates (McCain and Romney). When will the American public realize that it is their responsibility to research and review the candidates positions and not be pushed into a vote for candidates the liberal media chooses. The reason McCain is being pushed on us is because he is the closest person in the Republican party that resembles a Democrat. Get over it. There is still a man in this race who is a true conservative, and that man is HUCKABEE. The only choice for America!

    Comment: RE: Dems

The Feburary 4, 2008 issue of Newsweek is the biggest piece of hype masquerading as journalism that Newsweek may have to date produced. It is clearly an organized endorsement of Obama over Clinton, the only thing the magazine didn't do was to come out and clearly state the same. The negatives that can be inferred about the Clintons are implicit, while Obama is clearly given a pass even when his position on issues is questioned. Magazines, like Newsweek, that have the money and power to reach the public enmass clearly understand the effect they can and do have on the development of public opinion and use it to levitate their positions. There was little attempt to portray the Clintons in an objective light hence one can only conclude that objectivity is not a hallmark of your magazine.

I have supported most positions Obama takes and will probably cast my vote for him as President. Though I am not a Clinton fan, when I see a magazine take a position that is as biased as the political articles in this issue are it makes me sad. The public trust is not served well by such antics and I do not want to participate further in supporting a magazine that undermines it. Please cancel my subscription.

Comment: you are wrong below, McCain is a traitor and should be bared from the election, he is a senator on a bordering state but didnt address illegal imigration until it was popular in the media, where was his thinking of Americans before his so called popularity, millions must have come accross his border and we herd nothing he is just like the bushes a lier and we are doomed.

Comment: he's a great courageous man, with an unbelievable strength of character. he is the best candidate out there, it's a shame he lost to Bush, this country would be in a completely different place now if McCain was the president for the past 7 years. i used to always vote Democrat, but i am sad to say that neither one of them has what i takes, and i will vote for McCain!

Comment: The most capable candidate and the most honest candidate is on top forthe Republicans, a man who spent considerable care to writing a book that models character virtues for younger people to learn from, "Character is Destiny." How fortunate Americans are that a complete phoney carpetbagger had to quit (Romney), while such a man of warm goodness remains. That's not to take anything away from the Democrats either - maybe its their turn, and either Hillary or Obama would, like McCain, take the country away from the last 8 years of increasing dishonesty (and Romney would have continued that) and erosion of democratic Liberty. Torture made the last 8 years Administration one that was un-American; McCain will stop torture and so will the Democrats. Romney was in favor of using torture. He was a nightmare of a candidate, and when Patrick J. Fitzgerald gets ahold of Romney's Bain Capital business practices, he won't, and shouldn't be able to, be elected as dog catcher. Operating it tax free from the Cayman Islands, he just gutted scores of decent companies, stripped their assets, and laid everybody off - pocketting the cash back in the Cayman's, tax free. This was all relayed by a respected LA Times Reporter, interviewed by Amy Goodman. This man was a baaaad date folks, a wolf in sheep's clothing. But McCain is a real American hero who loves his country, loves his sons who have volunteered to serve in Iraq, and be a good example to others. Winston Churchill has a successor - and his name is John McCain.

Comment: Democratic liberty??? don't you mean France part 2? Lets look at what democrats want to do.... give up sovereingty to the UN.... boy that sounds downright American now doesn't it? Oh, lets bring universal health care (a system that hasn't worked well in other countries) and actually skim the paychecks from Americans... yep... just love big government taking my money.... Yep, Democrats sure are faithful Americans... NOT. Guess we just haven't learned much from the revolutionary war. Dems have it their way, we will once again be slaves to a foreign power..... Yep, lets vote away our freedom...
