Iran has a young pro-west populace. The intel services of the west should be doing everything it can to undermine the apocalyptic mullahs, and thier lackey A-jad. If the Iranian navy challenges the US, they will be annihilated. Then bombs will fall alll over the country, its nuke sites, IRGC bases, airfields, command centers and even a DECAP strike. The "islamic revolution" has stalled, its young people are stifled. Time for change-one way or another.

You can not change other cultures. The rest of the world does not want to be us! Please stop the idiocy! Bring home all of the troops now and let them hash it out for themselves! I f they become a threat to us, that's a different story. I guess in retrospect most Americans wish we had the money and lives we wasted in these useless excorcises in futility back.

I agree with Qumars. Just because there are things happening in the world that are less than ideal, does not give us the right to come in and try to show them how great we are. We can work with other countries to help with ideas, comments, examples and such but war is not the answer. On the whole, we have chosen the wrong side in these disputes throughout history in about 80% of the cases. Sadam was one of ours, Noreiga, Castro and how many more have we trained and backed and then watched in horror as they went down the wrong path.

What is the role of the United Nations, to have tea parties and look at how good Iceland is doing? Make it do what it is supposed to do, start acting like a body that has some influence in this world or start another organization that does.

Until the folks from within start to make a determined effort to get out from under the rule of a bunch of religious goofballs who think that we should not have progressed since the fourth century, then they are going to be suppressed and held back. Wake up, stand up, look around and start to act like you belong in the world community.

Some are still naive to think that people in Iran revolted in 1979 and chose so called "islamic republic" and here they are again, shouting at us that they want some sort of change within regime itself. it sounds to me, they suggest that current Islamic criminals to let some brand new Islamic criminals to get control of power!
Sir I am familiar with your approach and the same pattern that have been used in the world so far and it has not worked. "Biological solution" rings a bell? Some Cubans have asked for biological solution, why? Because they had almost same sort of reasons and fears. What happened then? Nothing! Dictatorship transferred to a new one! in Iran's case, some of you in IRGC have thought about "biological solution" during Khomeini era but it didn't help either and now here we come again, the same approach that Cuban spies have injected the poisons idea of "waiting for within democracy" in dissident's society. It???s same game that Fidel Castro has played to stay in power for almost half a century. What can we expect from mullahs with communist background?! Nothing but Castro???s game plan!

One more thing; Democracy without world support is the beginning of a new dictatorship and that support should be there at the beginning. and for those who still think they made "Islamic Republic", just I should say think again.

Those Iranians who seek the US for help to restore democracy in Iran are traitors. They are selfsh, self-centered, short-sighted, dumb, have no dignity and double headed snakes. The world's history has shown that it was and still are the traitors who played the crucial role in the downfall of any country through foreign interventions. These kind of people residing in the US are also detrimental to the US security and should be marked as dangerous.

People often misunderstand and read more into Ganji. What part of "the best thing Americans could do for us would be to prevent their own government from launching another war in the Middle East" is ambiguous? Intervention does not help at all, military or economic. No War, no sanctions!

NO Mr. Ganji, Iranians need Americans and the world helping hand to overthrow Islamic mullah fascism in Iran. Without world help it's impossible to do anything anymore, we are living in a connected world and we need to help each other to bring peace, justice and liberty instead of terrorism, hostility and oppression. Also Iranian people won't acquire freedom until they worship these mullahs and see them as "prophet" or some sort of sacred thing. The religious disobedience is the first step of our freedom and liberty in Iran.

I have come here from a link from Hossein Derakhshan???s blog (http://hoder.com/weblog/) who calls Mr Ganji a traitor. He also calls anyone who believes that Iranian regime should be accountable to the population a traitor. But he is the traitorous one and I wish someone would sue this turncoat agent of the Islamic republic and stop him from slandering every decent brave Iranian alive. The saddest thing is the Derakhshan has merely sold his soul in return for his expenses and university fees. Very sad.

If the US was interested in a democratic Iran, they could achieve it very easily. All they would have to do is lift all the sanctions that have enslaved the Iranian people since 1979. These sanctions are illegal anyway. Mr Ganji's time- who has now become a recognised dissenter- could be more fruitfully spent in lobbying for them to be lifted. Iran is an enormously wealthy country that is very badly managed.and could become prosperous very quickly having a young and educated populace. A modern Iran would be a free Iran. There are those that suspect that the US is not interested as it is influenced by Israel who would be the likely loser in such a scenario. Witness the overture by Iran after the US invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq, having participated as an ally, Iran was willing to stop its support of Hizbullah and Hamas and even recognise Israel. A Grand Bargain- resoundly rebuffed.

Mr. Ganji has explained clearly and in details that Iranian people yearn for democracy, peace and freedom. It is the right of Iranian to elect their own and desired political system by means of free election. Behaving stubborn, the fanatic fundamentalist regime in Tehran doesn't want to listen to the cry and demand of Iranian for democracy and freedom.
When Mr. Ganji says explicitly that he was afraid of discrimination against religious minority, he worries at same time about Bahhai minority in Iran too, who are the victim of religious persecution. Mr Ganji is not traitor. The real traitors are the Mullahs who mislead the Iranian revolution from its original goals, i. e. independence, freedom and democracy.
The Iranian people have not deserved such a Stone Age terror regime. 100 years ago Iranian people revolted against the dictatorial monarchy and for a constitutional monarchy. At that time they demand for democracy, freedom and an elected government. Unfortunately there were some reasons or factors which caused the miscarriage of that constitutional revolution. Among other things were the incompliance of revolution???s goal (democracy and freedom) with the interest of those world powers whose economical profits prevailed over human rights and democracy in the Middle East. But today is the spreading and establishment of democracy a prevailing motto all around the world and the duty of all countries being members of UNO. Because today the demand for democracy of Iranian people is in line with interest of world powers, Iranian people rely on and hope for protection and support of global community, which should not let them alone in their struggle and campaign against dictator and for democracy. To support freedom movement in Iran the global community should undertake as follow:
??? Free world should avoid accepting the regime in Tehran as representative of Iranian folk. Instead the free world should try to support the establishment and recognition of a community of Iranian democratic opposition as legal political representative of Iran.
??? Free world should impose a free election on the Mullah regime in Tehran which would be observed by UNO in order to give Iranian people the chance to elect their desirable political system.
??? The Mullah regime in Tehran is depended 100 % on oil revenues. Without this income this regime is not able to keep itself on the power. Only one week oil blockade is sufficient to bring the Mullah regime to its senses or to sweep them from the power.
??? The terror regime in Tehran will always be an incalculable danger and threatens to the peace in the world, with or without atom bomb. That is in interest of USA and free world to support Iranian people to replace this terror regime by a democratic elected government. A democratic elected government in Iran, which free world trust in, will certainly settle the atom conflict peacefully.

Ganji is a confused person. He doesn't know what he really want for himself and for Iran. So stop being ambigous and clearly write down your statement. Do you want Iran to return back to monarchy? Do you want Iran to be a state of the US where the Iranian president is just a US deputy? Do you want chaos in Iran just like Iraq. Do you want Iran to be politically unstable like Pakistan? Do you want Iran to be like the Africans who can't govern themselves? In times of trouble Ganji should give his full support to help Iran and not become a traitor!

Mr. Ganji, speaks and writes very eloquently, but refuses to mention the persecution of religious minorities specifically the Bahai???s as to not alienate any support from the fundamentalists, He refuses have meetings with monarchists for fear of similar loss of support from other sectors that he sees as his base, and in general with hopeful intentions, wants to prolong the agony of the Iranian people by continuing to do the same thing that has been done in the past 30 years. Which really has been nothing. The Iranians need leadership in their fight for freedom and liberation. Mr. Ganji as a child of this revolution, supporter of this regime in its early years and limited by his credibility having worked for this regime lacks the appeal needed to lead or be credible. His words do not have the necessary credibility to bring Iranian people together.
