    Apparently, runnning as a CEO wouldn't have gotten him very far either;

    "If Bain Capital was going to invest in the auto industry, what segment would it invest in, and how would that help Michigan?" Salon's Mike Madden actually got that in, but it elicited a non-answer: "I've been out of the private sector too long to advise people on that kind of thing." In other words, his experience in the private sector is relevant, until he's called upon to use it."

    Dear Illinois Voter, I'm sorry, but you have been mis-informed about the vote you are referring to. At issue was a bill to mandate care to "pre-viable fetuses born alive." The first thing to note is "pre-viable." Fetuses below 26 weeks of age never survive, even with the best ICU care. Fetuses older than 26 weeks already have a law that mandates they be given medical care to save their lives. The bill you are referring to was promoted by the pro-Life camp and it was really quite clever. Had that bill passed it would have overturned Roe v. Wade, but only in the State of Illinois. It would have immediately been legally challenged by the pro-Choice groups and immediately struck down, since the Supreme Court has already ruled on that issue. Even though I am pro-Life, I could see how this bill was just a political ploy. It was designed to be used to smear the reputations of any politician who voted against it. It was not designed to protect the unborn, because the people who wrote it knew that the pre-viable fetuses in question would all die anyway.

    This kind of thing is one of the reasons why Republicans like me are becoming disenfranchised from the GOP. Politics is not just some clever shell game that insiders play while we the taxpayers foot the bill for their power plays. We want our real issues heard and legislated for in effective ways.

    Believe it or not, as a pro-Choice Christian I think I have gotten better legislature out of Barack Obama than out of my own interest group. Obama has taken the time to listen to the religious voice and made some modest compromises with us, like voting against late term abortion and against partial birth abortion, even though he still has supported a woman's right to reproductive freedom by voting in favor of early abortions. To me, this is a good compromise. I know he's liberal at heart, but he listens to the other side, and that is important to me. It's a brave new world for conservative Republicans when we look to liberal Democrats to help us with our issues. But I'm a pragmatist. I go with what works.

    Mitt Romney failed in his run for the GOP nomination for the Presidency of the United States of America because he ran as a clone of George W Bush, the most hated man in America. On top of that consider, just what did Romney stand for? That all depends on who he was talking to at the time. America has had 7 years of a liar in the White House, Mitt demonstrated with his "flip-flopping" htat he stood for another 4.

    Major fact problem. I am from iowa and 60% of the voters are not evangelicval christians....not even close. Romney lost support not because of his religion. He lost support, as Jon Stewart said this week, because he's a douch bag

      Wow, both of you have a real grasp on the mature part huh? He lost and he's moved on,maybe you and Jon can now too.

    Romney's problem was his accomplishments. Republicans like to vote for a likable, mildly religious, incompetent (see Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II). Someone with actual accomplishments and deep convictions give Republicans the fear that that individual may actually try to do something other than protect their guns and cut their taxes. Romney was doomed from the start.

    iI too, am from Iowa and maybe 15 to 20% of the electorate call themselves evangelical christians. Romeny lost support because, as Jon Stewart said so well this week, he's a douch bag

    I wouldn't worry too much about Romney. He didn't lose much. He can now go home to his perfect family, mope for a month or two, then go out and make another few million dollars and get ready for the next campaign. It's the American people who are the losers. In the most important 1 question multiple choice test of our lives, we chose the wrong answer and lost. This is the downside of a democracy, when the majority doesn't have a clue what is good for them and the rest of us have to live with the consequences.

    We need a fact check. I'm an Iowa resident, and "Some 60 percent of Iowa's electorate is evangelical Christian," seems awfully high to me.

    Mitt was never a Bush clone. It's true Bush had an MBA and some business background, but no one would say that Bush excelled at either point in his life. Mitt's success in dramatically cutting healthcare costs in MA, and taking down spending and wiping out a massive state deficit came because he was a hard working genuius who was able to absorb vast amounts of information and see the critical opportunities that others missed.

    Likewise, on the war, he had a comprehensive understanding of what was going on in the world that was created by his endless thirst for knowledge and constant engagement with experts, leaders, and other people with helpful perspectives on the threats and opportunities around the world.

      It doesnt matter how much he accomplished if he lacks credibility. He wavered too much. He kept making statements that are not consistent. Yet he tried too hard trying to make them consistent. Flexiblity comes at the cost of Credibility.

    The Romney advisors are not being honest with themselves. They are in denial. Their problem was that they panick too much. They kept advising Romney one thing and than another. They blame everything on everyone else but themselves.

    If they want to really get to the core of their problems, they should compare their campaign with Obamas campaign. Its not the religious thing, because Obama got over the black thing. Obama plays the media better than Romney. Obama did not change course in light of polls, because polls are not everything. Moreover, polls do not mean much in the long term.

    The Romney people took their eyes off of the ball. Romney obviously pays them too much and listens to them too much. The Romney people looked outward, rather than within, They never had controll of themselves, rather they were controlled.

    Its a shame because Romney was a great candidate.
