Someone should tell this writer to stick to things he knows about. No respectful race journalist would call Rick Hendricks, "The King of Nascar" Nothing he'll say has any credibility with me. Rick Clayton Orlando, Florida

When "stick and ball" sports writers try to do an article about NASCAR, those of us who have been fans for years can only shake our heads and laugh. No NASCAR writer or fan would ever refer to anyone but Richard Petty as the "King of NNASCAR". And no one who has been around the sport for any length of time would refer to Jr as being "rebelious and profane". NASCAR drivers, almost to a man, are the most sportsmanlike athletes in the world today. They are not on drugs or steroids and they are not "acting out" like many of the athletes in the news today. It's a shame that the media thinks they must invent some type of controversy in order to interest the public. The true NASCAR fan is proud of our drivers and is happy with the good clean competition. We don't need any "bad boys". We are thrilled to have a sport where we can take our entire family without embarassment due to the athletes actions.

I want to start off my saying that everyone has their favorite driver. So everyone's opinion is going to be different from the one before. I personally am a Jeff Gordon fan. One thing Is true though...Gordon, Jr, and Johnson all have big heads and huge ego's but they have every right to think that their S*%t don't stink...THEY ARE ALL DAMN GOOD DRIVERS! Hendrick has this season made no matter what he will have a champion...Do you really think he cares about how big a drivers ego is? Of course not because those egos are going to get him yet another championship.

i dont givva a sh*t what anyone says they need to worry about jimmies crew chief f*cking cheating and not be concerned about Jr's ego. So what if he knows he is good, he dont think he is God!!

If you want to bad mouth a driver why don't you talk about Tony Stewart who doesn't seem to know how to control himself. I believe June Bug will do just fine with Hendreicks company. I think he showed that at the Bud Shootout. Sadly Dale Jr ended to make the break from DEI to show the Racing world the driver and man he truely is, and that he isn't just using his family name to be someone.

I don't see Hendrick investing any money on a driver that isnt going to produce victories. Newsweek ought too stick with the buisness they are good at. Scaring Americans with made up statistics of terrorism. Why would these people even think we would listen too someone with a five thousand dollar suit. NASCAR isnt politics. Dont make it that way just becouse there is money too be had in this sport. The money made is well deserved by all the drivers, owners and promoters. Most of these people were never spoon fed tie wearing pricks when they popped out. They earned their money. Write about something else in the news! Don't tarnish someone's reputation to make news.

Please Actually watch a NASCAR race before writing an article about it!!!!!JR. is one of the most well respected drivers in the garage, Im sure you find out by the comments made here that you are barking up the wrong tree, by trying to make controvesry were its not!!!!!!!!!If i were the Editor of the Web Page and magazine i would pull THIS ARTICLE...Go back to writing about Politics!!!

ok...seriously?? Junior...rebelious and profane? Junior, the one who told fans NOT to throw beer bottles on the track if Gordon were to beat Sr.'s career wins on his birthday?? The one who commends his team every race, win or not. So what does that make Gordon...who decides to throw his helmet at other drivers' window and says "i'll get you on the track"?????? This writer knows NOTHING about Junior or his sportsmanship. If you ask me, a good portion of other NASCAR drivers could learn a lesson or two from Junior and learn how to be a good sportsman. This author needs to get his facts straight before he dares to say such negative words about NASCAR's most popular driver (voted 5 times in a row, thank you). There's a reason he's held that title for 5 years....and not cry babies like Gordon, who whines every race he loses and puts the blame on every one else but himself. I say, GOOD LUCK to Jr. and I can't wait for him to get more checkered flags this season!

WHEN YOU READ THE TITLE OF THE ARTICLE YOU KNOW THE AUTHOR KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT NASCAR RICHARD PETTY IS THE KING OF NASCAR!

  • Posted By: blissrobinson @ 02/11/2008 7:57:59 PM

Jr. "profane and rebellious"??? I don't think so! I think it was Jeff Gordon that got into a shoving match recently on pit row? Jr. is Jr. and if they want to see him be productive they will let him and Tony Jr. do what they have to. I think that is one reason Jr. left DEI because he didn't have the flexibility to be who he is one hell of a driver!

I was also disgusted by the author referring to Jr as "profane and rebellious." Apparently this man has NEVER had anything to do with nascar. Jr is the popular driver that he is BECAUSE of who he is as a person. He is an honest, resectful, stand up guy. The type that any man would want as a son. Get your facts straight before you start bashing on the drivers in NASCAR. That article was aweful.

Where did the author of that story ( fictional !!!!!!!!!!) get the ridiculous idea that Dale Jr is anything but respectful and a true team player ? I think the author needs to watch a few races and PAY ATTENTION !!!!!!, before he makes such stupid remarks . Dale Jr has always had a deep respect for Rick Hendrick and I am sure that Rick need not worry about dealing with a prima donna attitude from Dale Jr. The writer must have hime mixed up with some OTHER drivers who cant seem to race without acting like little kids fighting !

This post might be a double.
Great article. Jr. will change. Rick Hendrick is very strict like Coach K of Duke. Rick expect his drivers to always be dressed up in no jeans! He expect them to be clean shaven, neat in appearance and prompt. Rick also has the final say so in all media. So Jr. more than likely will not be in any more music video's or club promtions. Basically Jr. will be Rick puppet for the next 5 years.
