Comment: This section of DiscoverTheNetworks examines Barack Obama's connections to a number of key individuals and organizations. In some cases, these affiliates are notable for the leftist views and objectives they share with Obama. In other cases, they are notable for their collaboration with Obama in controversial or unethical activities. In all cases, they offer a window into Barack Obama's values and priorities. Taken as a whole, they verify Thomas Sowell's observation that Obama has "spent decades aiding and abetting people who hate America."

Comment: KOOL-AID??????..From the kitchen of the obama sheeple!! take one heaping spoonful of an inexperienced elitist white male seeking self validation through exploitation of his african-american genetics. Combine two parts black liberation theology clerics spewing intolerance! With two parts of unrepentant intellectuals committed to the destruction of America. Stir in one cup of militant black wife harboring the overwhelming desire to stick it to whitey and one spoonful of typical white person grandmother mix well. Pour a gallon of anti-patriotism into tall glasses and sprinkle with naïve foreign policy ideations. Serve on a platter of meaningless oratorical hyperbole with a generous dollop of wealth re-distribution. Sprinkle liberally with zest of white guilt flip it and flop it till it tastes right. Serve large portions to the undiscerning and spellbound masses convinced that the Second Coming is upon America and now you have a complete recipe for disaster!

They're minds are obviously messed up since they supported that old ugly evil witch Hillary and mentally incapacitated John McCain. It because of them that they're still allowed to drive and causing tons of manslaughter accidents. We really should go back to our ancestor's ways and ship old useless senior citizens to the middle of the sea so there will be less burden on our society.

Comment: The young voters have yet to deliver. Remember "Rock the Vote" and "Vote or Die"? Kerry still lost to Bush by 3 million votes. I can see how they would fall for Obama's rhetoric. They're rather naive and base decisions on emotions rather then solutions. (I fell into this category at one point) Once you're out in the real world working full time, paying a mortgage raising children, etc... you mature and viewpoints change. It's a neverending process which will happen over your lifetime. Those who don't "grow out" of it usually become college professors.

With ALL of the FACTS showing EVERYBODY Obama is NOT "Muslim", after months of hearing about his 20yr involvement with a CHRISTIAN church and it's angry pastor, you 13% still hate him for being "Muslim" (we know why you really hate him).
Funny, but that's the only thing that makes sense, I mean do you still think the world is flat?

when you are younger, naive and idealistic you tend to be a liberal as you think that the world owes it to you to please you. it soon becomes apparent that the ways of the world are there for a reason and some things just are not going to change no matter who promised it to be so.

right leaning centrists such as myself will never vote for this man not due to his race/color/religious orientation etc. but his stand on issues.

he has shown himself to be naive in the areas of foreign policy and negotiation. he is also not well versed fiscally as he promises without a method of paying for his promises just the tired "tax the rich " slow down the economy even more(duh). I hate to tell you folks but we live in a free market democracy not a socialist state and his liberal policies have a distinct socialist bent(universal health care, the utopian dream) . Go live in Canada or the UK if this isyour desire. that kind of change to a socialist liberal state is contrary to everything this country stands for so if you don't like it emigrate.

Comment: I don't think people are supporting Obama because he is a black man. Sure , he is smart ,charismatic and a bright politician but sorry to disappoint, it's not because of his pigment. Maybe he gets a good number of votes due to it, but that wasn't the crushing reason for his upset of Hillary. Like him or not, the guy is very very impressive. His delivery has been remarkable over the past year. But all of those reasons still would not (out of no where) sling shotted him beyond one of the most powerful politically machines we have ever witness- the Clintons.

No way folks , this was much larger. The reason Obama was successful in overthrowing "Clinton" was clearly due to something else. In 2004, after the Kerry lost, Move on .com and the radical loony left vowed they would own the Democratic party in 08 !They made true on their goal! Today, they are one of Obama's strongest financial and political supporters. "Move on" also support many other radical groups that are also pro-Obama. It intrigues me ,as well, that Obama strongest support appears to be those who hold "quiet hatred" towards their own country. (A country ,mind you, that gives them freedom like no other.)

It's clear Obama supporters know that he is the best candidate that can make the U.S. A . weaker in the eyes of the world. That's what his supporters want! Call it guilt or misguided views that are based on MTV, Hollywood and foreigners (quietly and politely) who would love to see another 911 in America. In the last 7 years ,after 911, it has become a transparent phenomenon. What ever is the cause, higher minds must prevail . Lastly before I leave you, The the top 10 groups supporting Obama:

    1. White guilt
2.Yong white followers of idiotic rap music.
    3. Bush Haters
    4. American Haters
    5. Elitist Hollywood Loons
    6. 60 years old who want to relive their radical 60s years.
    7. people who ignore the fact that political correctness has gone a muck.
    8. People who think Obama may give them something for free.
    9. David Lettermen and his entire audience!
    10 Americans who hate America!

Take that David letterman! You America hater!!!

Comment: My comments were a bit tongue in cheek! I'm sure there are plenty of bright kids today now that we have home schooling. But on a more serious note, what exactly is the attraction of Obama for the young (non-home schooled) exactly? He is a charismatic person, I'll grant him that and he is a bit of A David slaying Ms Goliath. I clearly thank him for that one!

It bothers me though that the young seem to be jumping on the "change" wagon in terms of their support for Obama. What exactly does he want to change? From what I can gather of his program, he is a typical liberal.
More liberal than Hillary but less liberal than her on health insurance. They seem on the same note when it comes to Iraq basically.

I guess I'd like to see the young focused more on issues than touchy feely kind of things. What do they think about judicial activism for example? What do they think about the free market? What do they think about the role of government, liberty etc. Would they like to see an end to the US fighting wars for nation building like we are doing in Iraq? Would they like to see us secure our borders? Are they more concerned with diversity than individual achievement?

And do they really think that a guy with two years in the Senate has the most experience of all the candidiates including Miss Hillary who ran for the Democratic nomination?

Comment: Dear One, I agree with you about the horrible social conditions in Iran. I have two things to say about that. One is, Americans need to be VERY CAREFUL not to let the religious right wing take over the Supreme Court, considering that Iran shows you what it really looks like when a nation fails to separate church and state. The second point is that WE, the USA, put those nut jobs in power by placing the Shah in power then controlling his government as a puppet, which infuriated the Iranian people. The Iranian people rebelled against such imperialism, and in the middle of this secular political rebellion, the Ayatollahs seized power. Not to mention the very cogent fact that WE, the USA, gave Iran their first nuclear reactor. Oh, yeah. We forgot all about that. Now we are threatening to bomb them for possessing technology that WE gave them?

And what is all this nonsense about Iran attacking Israel? Iran has been at war with Iraq for decades, and never succeeded in even taking over a neighboring province. How are they going to fight a long distance war with Israel? Iran does NOT have significant military force to back up a nuclear strike, even if it were stupid enough to indulge in one, even if it already had the warheads, which it does not.

And ask yourself, who has strengthened the religious fanatics that control Iran? The USA. First, we give them nuclear power, then we set up conditions for the Ayatollahs to seize power, then we plunge Iraq into civil war and destroy Iraq's infrastructure, which effectively disables Iran's greatest enemy. Furthermore, Bush refuses to have diplomatic relations, only worsening the situation. And McCain threatens to bomb Iran, which is even stupider (and much more real) than Iran threatening to bomb Israel. We have no one but ourselves to blame for the horrible situation in the middle east.

VOTE FOR OBAMA to end all this needless drama.

    • Posted By: the-commish @ 06/16/2008 19:16:38

Comment: A couple of other things I forgot to mention, Nins:

      1) Even if Iran had a nuclear weapon and an adequate delivery system, attacking Israel would presumably also kill loads of Palestinians.

      2) Those facilities in the Negev are there for a reason. Any attack by Iran will be met by swift retaliation from Israel, and Iran would cease to exist as a viable country. The Iranians know this.

It is more likely that the Israelis would launch a preemptive strike against Iran, although since the Iranian facilities are widely dsipersed and strike-hardened, it would be very difficult to take out their retaliatory cababilities with a single strike.

    • Posted By: the-commish @ 06/16/2008 19:10:02

      Comment: Nins,

Extremely well said. Those who think Obama does not have a plan have either not read his plans on his website (why learn when it is easier just to oppose without reason) or have decided that they do not agree with his plans. The latter I can respect. The former... NOT!

Clearly, you do not know many intelligent 'kids.' That, or you have a poor sense of what counts as intelligent. Supporting Obama does not mean that you have decided against voting on ideology and have joined the "cult of personality" you speak of.

It's not too far a stretch to say that not every "bright" person agrees with the same ideology you hold.

The cult of personality is not a good thing. You only have to look at the popularity of JPII among Catholic youth as an example. What is the point unless it made them more likely to follow the teachings of their Church?

Same with Obama, what is the point unless they are more likely to follow his Liberal philosophy. Do these kids have a clue as to what Liberalism is all about? Well, I'll give them a hint, the First Liberal was Lucifer! And now that he has caught their attention will he be able to keep it until November? I doubt it! Their attention span is not that focused.

Comment: Younger voters will resonate with Obama because we can identify with him, and in some way he understand that the major part of the problem in this country is Older folks. They are to be blamed for taking us down the road we are presently on. They lack vision and so they are now dampening our dream of a brighter future and a more unified America.
They fail to understand that if our future continues to be as bleak as they lay it out for us, then, their social security will be limited in scope and we will force them back into the stone age. Let's see how they like bread and water. As young people we will take back this country and prove to the rest of the world that we can unite and become masters of our own destiny.
Those old folks who are championing for the Clintons can forever continue to hold on to fading dreams. All this garbage about black and white is but a stench in a drifting wind that will eventually fade away. Obama gives hope to both Black and white, in that the presidency is now open to any child regardless of his family background. If we should look at Hilary we can see that everyone cannot identify with her, however every child, black white or brown can identify with Obama.
The future is ours to take and decide what direction we so choose to follow. Young people wake up and follow your dream, a dream for a better future, if the old fargies fail to see vision then I guarantee you it will be their loss.
Where there is no vision the people perish.
These are the days when young men will dream dreams and old men will see visions.

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, Oct. 6, 2007: The children's health program wouldn't be in existence today if we didn't have Hillary pushing for it from the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Comment: Kennedy "worked with" Hillary Clinton to get White House support for a Senate measure to grant $24 billion for the new program, rather than the $16 billion approved by the House. "With strong administration support, the $24 billion stayed in," he wrote. Then, when the bill finally passed, Kennedy "credited the President, the First Lady, [Senate Democratic Leader Tom] Daschle, Marian Wright Edelman, head of the Children's Defense Fun, and Hatch. ..."

Clymer, in an exchange of e-mails, told FactCheck.org:

Adam Clymer: On balance, I would say of course Kennedy and Hatch deserve most of the credit, but Hillary helped by making sure the Administration stuck with the $24 billion in [the Senate-House] conference. She didn't write the legislation but she played a significant role in getting it passed.

He has run ads reinforcing the right's bamboozlement that Social Security is running out of money! Comment: I completely agree with you, ElectionMaven. It's utterly ridiculous to try to pretend that Obama is part of the Millenial Generation. Like you, I feel very strongly that Barack is clearly a part of Generation Jones. When I read his two books, I was very struck by how much he personifies Generation Jones, he really is a classic example of the GenJones archetype. I love the fact that I keep seeing articles in the mainstream media lately which are saying that Obama is a GenJoneser. Finally, they are getting it! Finally, Generation Jones is being recognized for what it is--a large heretofore ignored generation which is in a unique position to lead our country out of the mess created primarily by Baby Boomers. And to think that for so many years, Jonesers were ludicrously lumped in with Boomers!!

  • Posted By: ElectionMaven @ 03/02/2008 5:19:04 PM

Comment: Frankly, Andrew, you should be embarrassed to write such a wholly uninformed article. I've seen misinformation and confusion about Obama's generational identity, but this article certainly takes the cake for complete inaccuracy.

There is no generations expert anywhere that believes that the Millenial Generation would include Obama. While there is some disagreement among experts about the exact starting point for this generation, everybody sees it starting sometime after the birth year 1975, while most people start it around 1979/1980. Obama, born in 1961, is a Millenial??!! Do you even have any idea what the word generation means? How about doing a little research before writing an article, so that you'd have at least a tiny idea about it.

Generations are defined by birth years, not mind sets. A 75 year old guy's personality may be very Generation X, but that doesn't make him a member of Generation X!! He would be a Silent Generation member who happens to have many GenX-like traits. Otherwise, the concept of generations would basically have no meaning, if it were determined by subjective determinations of personality traits. For starters, who would make these determinations? Cultural generations have always been, and always will, be determined by birth years.

In case you have any interest in the truth on this topic: Obama is a part of Generation Jones. One could make a plausible argument that Obama is a Boomer, and a plausible argument that he is a GenXer (the reason these other arguments would be plausible is because someone born in 1961, like Obama, is in an ambiguous generational territory). As the New York Times pointed out last week, someone born in 1961 has three "choices" generationally: Baby Boom Generation, Generation Jones, or Generation X.

Those who study this topic professionally have generally decided that Obama is a GenJoneser. His bio, his political worldview, his political stances...it all pretty much shouts Generation Jones. Which isn't surprising, given that Obama was born in the middle of the GenJones 1954-1965 birth years, and those born toward the middle of generations tend to most personify their generation. If one concluded that Obama was a Boomer, he would be at the end of the Boom, or concluded he's an Xer, he'd be at the very beginning of X--in both cases, he'd be less likely to be "of" those generations. I heard a panel of generations experts recently spend an hour on radio discussing this specific topic, and their conclusion was overwhelmingly that Obama is of Generation Jones.

So next time you attempt to write an article, Andrew, how about doing a little research first? You could have started doing research on this article by simply reading the issue of Newsweek that came out just one week before this issue, in which Jonathan Alter argued that Obama is part of Generation Jones. You could learn a lot from Alter; he researches his articles, and writes about topics he actuall

  • Posted By: tejneckyc @ 02/27/2008 9:34:21 PM

Comment: Refer to the Generation X file on Wikipedia and decide for yourself if Obama counts as a Boomer or GenX. It's basically a toss-up depending on whether you want to start Gen X as early as 1958 or as late as 1965. End date could be as early as 1975 or as late as 1981. The 13th Generation (one pseudonym for GenX) is attributed as 1961-1981. At very least, those born from 1960-1965 have generally thought themselves disassociated from the values of the traditional boomer-age generation that came of age in the 60s.

Lastly -- can we try to stay on topic folks? This article had nothing to do with Obama's religion or Hillary's anything. If you're going to smear a candidate, at least do it in a way that relates to the article you're commenting on. There are a lot of them out there, so I'm sure you can find one that actually relates to whatever bee you've got in your bonnet.

Comment: The "Global Poverty Act," (S.2433) sponsored by Senator Barack Obama, was quickly passed through the Senate Foreign Relations Committee without hearings by a voice vote on 13Feb08. The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 % of gross national product on foreign aid. This amounts to a total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends over a 13 year period. Presently, it is being held up by conservative Senators, in order to prevent it from being rushed to the floor for a full Senate vote.
The House version (H.R. 1302) was passed by a voice vote on 25Sep07. This bill complies with the U.N. Millennium Goals and will result in a global tax that will force American taxpayers to provide the money.
Is this the change that he wants to force on the American people? Poverty for all except the privileged elite? IMO this is a prime example of what the golal econemy is going to result in, socialism and lowering of the quality of life for the common person.

Comment: I am all for the youth vote. However, a recent independent poll at my daughter's university showed that the youth voters had not even tuned in to Hillary Clinton-well at least 62% of them anyway. The students admitted to summarily discarding Senator Clinton for reasons that varied from "the name Barack is cool" to "everyone is voting for Barack." He is perceived as young, hip, and one of them. Unfortunately, when pressed for the reason why they liked him as a candidate, only 12% had a factual reason--most were entirely the likeability factor. My daughter tried to have a conversation with her dorm mates about the merits of both candidates and found them entirely disinterested in the idea of discussion. In her words, "This is like the Beanie Baby craze. Everyone went crazy about them and were hypnotized--infatuated--and this is what appears to be happening here." Hillary has her supporters, no doubt. One student commented that he was afraid of reverse discrimination after reading Barack's website about how "African American's have received the short end of the stick." (Yes, words to that effect are on his site). Many of us boomers remember when a white male could not get a job due to reverse discrimination or charges of it. Should college students be afraid of Barack's strong commitment to African American's and his belief that they have been unfairly treated? Hey, I didn't bring it up, it was on Barack's site under civil rights. As a boomer I must admit in the most deepest darkest place in my soul that the concerns raised by Obama about treatment of African Americans raises concerns about how the average Joe will be treated. Will his civil rights practice continue into the White House? Kudos to him for mobilizing an army of ready, willing and able volunteers. All I ask is that we teach our kids to make rational decision based upon a review of all the facts. In the interim, I hope Obama clarifies his comments about his perception of the mistreatment of the African American. Why has no one asked about that glaring comment on his site? It appears that the press truly has given him a free ride in many cases. Time to ask the hard questions.

Caroline Kennedy, in recently announcing her support for Obama, said that he makes her feel the way that people tell her that her father used to make them feel. That's the solemn truth. I was a teenager when John Kennedy was elected. All of life was ahead of me, and JFK inspired and challenged us to greater acccaccomplishments

However; (1) He ran for president on an impressive record of achievement . (2) Based on experience he had an amazing grasp of the workings of the federal government. (3) He stressed that Americans had to sacrifice, struggle, and fight for a better world, NOT simply to believe in him.

Comment: Don't think of an elephant is a tried and true Republican technique of dis-information. The funny thing about trying to "smear" him by using his middle name makes me realize just how much we need change in this country. Obama was pretty much an agnostic most of his life and his father is Muslim but that makes him more attractive not less.. Indonesia is the 3rd largest county in the world and the largest Muslim country and we need a President who can reach out to the middle east. This country was founded on religious freedom so even if he was Muslim it wouldn't matter.

Hussein can most likely recite the Koran in its Arabic origins, is revered in Indonesia. Now, before you think this is complimenting Hussein, consider this. He supposedly "converted" to Christianity. A fatah should have been issued for his immediate execution, as this made him aspotate an an infidel. Instead he is revered. Don't think for one minute that this is because of moderate views. It is because he is a MOHAMMED, and they want you, and your family dead.

And you support these devils!! SHAME ON YOU!!

Comment: Obama is a used car salesman and I hope voters will realize it in time to safe this country from the harm his presidency will be. His message of " change we can believe in' is a focus group pick for the presidential bit and no more then that. I've researched into his past records in the senate and the IL legislature and there are none, zero, nothing that points to any drastic incredible changes that people can believe in. Yes, he is different but the difference is that he has the audacity to play the voters stupid by selling empty words over experience and counting on the idea that voters are juste densed enough to buy the car without looking under the hood. His plan has worked in many ways but I think at the end of the day, people will realized that the woman running against him 'HIllary Clinton' is the real deal and it does indeed take hard work, persistent, experience to captain this great nation. I would not hir an amatuer mechanic to fix my car...even if he can sweet talk the heck out of me....so why should I hire an amatuer politician to run my country? even if he can sweet talk the heck out of me. I urge all voters to dig deeper and look at the candidates records....and once you do, you'll see what i've seen....Obama has gotten zero changes that you can point to as 'changes we can believe in'. As for him being against the Iraq war? he back-tracked one year later when public sentiment was pro-ware then flipped back when public sentiment was anti-war.....Obama is a fraud and a mediocre politician at best. Any comparison with JFK or MLK is an insult to those two great men.

Comment: The reason for Obama's appeal to millenials seems obvious to me. We have raised (and rightfully so) an entire generation to beleive that race doesn't matter. So now the millenials see and are attracted to a viable presidential candidate who, by his very existance, is the liveing embodiment of "race doesn't matter". The millenials are doing exactly what we, their parrents, taught them to do. That is to be color blind. He is young (in fact he seems like he might know gen-x/millenial stuff such as his way around a soccer ball and a skate board without getting to freaked out) a great orator and has different ideas. Also when Obama stood in Springfield, Illinois in a long black coat to announce he was running last winter one only had to
squint to evoke Lincoln. Maybe that's the other major factor. A lot of Americans are not happy about who and what they are and want someone who, like Lincoln, can wash away all our sins in one fell swoop. The WWII-ers and Baby Boomers were about desegration and integration. Gen-xers were about black and white playing on the same, level playing field. Millenials are about black and white doesn't matter. I am a gen-xer and tend to vote Repulican but I see the appeal of Obama. And at some point dynamic, inspirational leadership trumps even policy. P.S. Obama is probably a more devout Christian than 90% of the Archie Bunker types who try to smear him as being something else.

Obama belongs to a church that, like it or not, puts mother Africa above the USA-He himself sees things as black and white! And if he doesn't, why is he such a staunch supporter of a church that's whole theme is centered around being black? I don't support the KKK but I sure as heck don't condone reverse racism either!

Also....I watched part of Obama's speech last night in Wisconsin and I can't over the part where he said it was time to put TAXES back in the pockets of the workers! Gee Obama last time I checked, if you didn't work, you didn't pay taxes-DUH.....And furthermore I'm sick of getting taxed to death for the benefit of many whose biggest goal is to hang out and do nothing! :( (This includes people in every race!)

I'm not really concerned about this video, I'm more concerned with his heritage, Islamic upbringing, his "church", his name and his goals of creating a wide open bloodbath accross the Middle East. The man is a MOHAMMED. This conclusion will be unavoidable to our citizens before America's birthday. That is when I fear there will be real fireworks in our cities. Not the verbal kind either.

You keep saying that Obama is not a Muslim and you've listed many so called facts. But, can you prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that Obama did not (qoute from freedomsenemies website) "According to Tine Hahiyary, one of Obama's teachers and the principal from 1971 through 1989, Barry (Obama)actively took part in the Islamic religious lessons during his time at the school. And can you disprove the fact that Obama studied 'mengaji'- the study of learning to recite the Quran in the Arabic language rather than the native tongue. "Mengagi" is a word and a term that is accorded the highest value and status in the mindset of fundamentalist societies here in Southeast Asia. To put it quite simply, 'mengaji classes' are not something that a non practicing or so-called moderate Muslim family would ever send their child to. To put this in a Christian context, this is something above and beyond simply enrolling your child in Sunday school classes."
Chew on these awhile and see what you come up with.

AND P.S. It is a HUGE deal that he didn't put his hand over his heart and shame on you for believing that it doesn't matter :(

Comment: Are you kidding me? You want ME to prove something when you're quoting a RIDICULOUS work of fiction that some idiot posted on a website? And you quote this as a LEGITIMATE source? I'll bet you know plenty of people that went to a Catholic school and aren't Catholic or even practicing Christians now. So what's your point? The fact has been established that Obama went to a PUBLIC school with a large Muslim population as a child. You realize he also went to CATHOLIC school when he was a child? Between the ages of 6 and 10, he attended Fransiskus Assisi, a CATHOLIC school, and SDN Menteng 1, a PUBLIC school open to people of ALL FAITHS with a large Muslim population. Here's the link from FOXNEWS, which I'm sure your fiance loves: http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2007Jan24/0,4670,Obama2008,00.html.

Have you even bothered looking into this ridiculous "cover your heart" rumor? Here's the link to the whole flap on Snopes: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/anthem.asp. Notice all the pictures of Obama with his hand over his heart? Notice the VIDEO of Obama covering his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance?

Look Tiffany, I'm sure you are a fine person but your fiance has been running around Newsweek forums spreading all kinds of lies. I encourage you to be open minded and do your own homework on what is being said about Obama. I'm pretty sure you will be very surprised.

Comment: Hey Jay-Thanks for the response. I was beginning to think you didn't see me as debate-worthy.
In answer to your comments, there is a LOT of stuff on the web about Obama. And let's face it, who honestly knows what to believe based on the media coverage, etc? Some things in this life require us to go by our "GUT" instinct. And my instinct about Obama is that he's a dangerous man. I'm sorry if this offends you. But I, like you, am entitled to my opinion. I've learned, as I've gotten older, to rely on my "GUT" when it comes to emotional issues. (Such as politics) Especially when we are so bombarded with everyone elses "versions" of the truth.
P.S. I'll keep researching Obama and see what I come up with

Comment: Hey Jay-Found this on the web. Thought you'd be interested.
Quote from An American Expat in Southest Asia.
"A government primary school in Indonesia is not quite as secular as one in the west might imagine. In fact Islam plays a very important role in Indonesian schools and a foreigner might be surprised to find out that religious classes are compulsory for all Indonesian students.

All Indonesian students are required to study religion at school and a young "Barry Soetoro" being a Muslim would have been required to study Islam daily in school. He would have been taught to read and write Arabic, to recite his prayers properly, to read and recite from the Quran and to study the laws of Islam."

Comment: Another little tidbit from Wikipedia-Link at bottom- : )
When Indonesia declared independence in 1945, it became the largest Muslim-majority nation in the world. Today it has about 88% of the population of 245 million people following Islam.

Comment: HR/Tif - Thanks for the info. I will not dispute the fact that Indonesia is the largest Muslim nation by percentage and that Islam is taught in schools. However, I am not willing to make a leap from there to say that Obama is a RADICAL Muslim intent on doing us harm. I posted this earlier, but here is a link to a video on YouTube of a reporter that actually WENT to Obama's school in Indonesia so that you can see for your own eyes what it looks like:

Comment: Jay-Regardless of the you tube video, it's extremely difficult for me to not ask myself "What if"?
I mean seriously, have you given point to ponder "What if"? He lived there during the most important years-developmentally speaking. Can you at least agree with me that children's personalities and moral base is not established during the early years? I can't help but to have some serious reservations about Obama. Some might call me close-minded or a bigot-that's their opinion and their intitled to it. I, on the other hand, consider myself a realist. Think about it - "What if"?

Comment: Of course I agree with you that formative years are significant. But you also have to admit that he was far from the age of reason when he attended school there. He went to school in Hawaii from fifth grade until the time he graduated high school. He went to Occidental College in LA and Columbia University in New York as a teenager and young man. He went to Harvard Law School.

The "what if" scenario is non-existent for me because I am from Obama's home town of Chicago and we've been following his political career for a while now, so he didn't just drop in out of nowhere as it seems like he did for a lot of people. But for the sake of argument, I will entertain the idea. We have three branches of government with checks and balances over each other. All legislation that is authored comes from the legislative, not executive branch; he couldn't advance an insidious agenda even if he wanted to. To play along even further, a president can always be impeached. In short, in the very unlikely (and to me non-existent) possibility that Obama is some sort of wolf in sheep's
