Obama is a neophyte, a novice and is not ready to become president of the United States. He may be smart and charismatic and a good talker, but presidential material he is not. Maybe in eight years. He is filled with selfimportance and pride and ought to go home to Illinois to mature a few years. I would NEVER vote for him. He has not been vetted properly either. What about his Muslim background? Scary!

    • Posted By: THE RAVEN @ 02/12/2008 9:08:05 AM

You are ignorant, tommyboy. WHO is ready to be president? No ONE person runs the country, and that's why our presidents are surrounded by advisers and cabinet members. Where can you learn to be a president except by BEING a president? Liar Bush had eight years, and look where we are: Hated around the world, our economy is in the toilet, trillions will be spent on a war we should not have started (which Bush and some of his friends are profiting from), and maybe tens of thousands of American lives will be lost thousands of miles away--and for what?

So many of the comments here are hateful and so untrue. If I were Hillary I would not want those kinds of people on my side. That said does everyone forget the immoral and illegal way the Whitehouse was run under the Clinton regime. Hillary herself answered over 57 questions with "I don't recall" or "I don't remember". If she can't handle and control her marriage/husband how in the world do we think she can handle America. But you all might want to stop and think of the skeletons that can crawl out of the Clinton closet with McCain opening the door.

The only reason she kept that dog around is because she feeds off of POWER

  • Posted By: Jack3213 @ 02/09/2008 10:16:35 PM

The Clintons are as corrupt as can be. What's more disheartening and hard to fathom, is the sheer number of gullible, entitlement minded supporters there are for them. Especially when the Clintons criminal history is still relatively fresh. I fear for the future of our country, when so many potential voters are more enamoured with gender politics and pop culture than the more important issue of character and adherance to the Constitution. The Clintons are not only power-mad, but they also promise a Socialist/Marxist style of government. Something their supporters either ignore, or actually support. The ignorance and rejection of the greatness of America by the Democrat electorate is stunning and sad. The ominous, looming danger of a Clinton or even an Obama Presidency is horrifying.

    • Posted By: frankenstone @ 02/11/2008 3:14:31 AM

Corporate responsibility, health care that is accessible by all, invest in the middle class, keep jobs at home, provide funds for corporations to invest in alternative energy (solar, wind, hydrogen, etc), stop corporations from controlling our government.... those are so horrifying. Our country is the furthest thing from Marxism/Socialism. The extreme rhetoric is tired and old.

      • Posted By: THE RAVEN @ 02/12/2008 8:47:48 AM

I agree with your comments 100%, frankenstone--but the unfortunate problem we have in this country is that too many politicians have their hands in the pockets of those who run these big corporations. Also, health care is simply another form of corporate IRRESPONSIBILITY, and it seems to me that our government is making it easier for our jobs to leave the country.
I like Hillary and Obama, for different reasons. But every politician says the same thing about taking corporations out of the government. I hope one of the candidates can--who ever becomes President.

I have a sneaking suspicion that "Holyroller" is just another foot-soldier in the Clinton war machine...don't forget, these are the people who have had people killed to protect their interests.

    • Posted By: coulterfan @ 02/12/2008 8:26:15 AM

I think Holyroller is a troll and probably a Bush supporter. It's going to be hard for him/her to vote for any of the remaining candidates, since Clinton, McCain and Obama have all been smeared by Bush's propaganda machine. There are already smear sites up against McCain (who Rove smeared spectacularly in 2000), Clinton, and Obama.

Small-minded, bigoted folks will not vote for any of the candidates if they are gullable enough to believe the lies and innuendo.

  • Posted By: educated0525 @ 02/11/2008 10:37:09 AM

Newsweek: PLEASE REMOVE HOLY ROLLER FROM POSTING. The vitrol that is being spewed from the posts are offensive, hateful and ignorant. I think they are not conducive to civil debate and conversation that your website should provide.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/11/2008 10:44:29 AM

So now a candidates heritage and values are not up for discussion? This is the USA not Iran, the politial correctness that has been shoved down peoples throats is being spewed back out. HE IS AN ISLAMIC SYMPATHIZER!!!

      • Posted By: Flanders @ 02/11/2008 11:34:33 AM

I'm not sure what an Islamic Sympathizer is, but lets says he does care for or sympathize with Muslims somehow. We probably shouldn't stand for that in the land of the free, should we?

        • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/11/2008 1:30:09 PM

You are naive. The Islamist's want nothing more than to kill as many Westerners, preferably Americans as possible. They have little regard for human life and only want to spread their "faith" with a head tax. Convert or lose your head. I think I speak for millions and millions of Americans with this statement-let's see how many virgins Allah has available, I bet he is going to have a shortage. Hussein Obama has no qualifications for Commander-In-Chief.

          • Posted By: Flanders @ 02/11/2008 2:08:07 PM

You are painting a broad sweeping picture of Muslims and grouping them with those who have missued their faith, just as 600 years ago (the approximate age difference of the two faiths) Christians did and for many centuries before that in many of the same ways that are being done today by the minority. Ripping on God, no matter what his name, will not help our relations and understanding. I don't believe Obama goes by his middle name either, most people I know do not.

            • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/11/2008 5:42:56 PM

Thank GOD for the crusaders, without them we would each have our own prayer mat, bowing to Mecca.

    • Posted By: GetAmericaBackOnTrack @ 02/11/2008 4:32:57 PM

I agree. I also think that Holy Roller's posts are a clear example of the kind of fear and hate mongering that is infecting this country. Do I seek to CHANGE this? You bet. This is of great concern to those of us that understand that we are at our best when we seek our common ground. To demonize members of any group in our country is dangerous and wrong. Peace be with you.

      • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/11/2008 5:41:20 PM

Devils do not need demonizing, thats just what they are. Watch the news, Hussein is about to have to answer some real questions.

  • Posted By: honest-to-pete @ 02/11/2008 4:50:08 PM

Democracy not oligarchy. Billary put the crown down

  • Posted By: vlaken @ 02/11/2008 4:20:30 PM

Interesting article, but with one big gaffe: Quoting yourSELF (comparing a Clinton campaign event to a Joe Biden event) is sketchy enough, but then responding to the quote ("Joe Biden? Ouch.") as if it were someone else's insult doesn't even make sense. Your writing has a bit of growing up to do, Andrew.

  • Posted By: tiredofDEMSandREPUBS @ 02/11/2008 2:38:33 PM

I love Obama and wish him the best. I'm just glad that the only Republican that has the possibility of becoming our next president is McCain.

  • Posted By: sean2002 @ 02/11/2008 10:49:16 AM

For the sake of fair and balance, I suggest Newsweek also write an article entitled:

SHE IS ONE OF US NOW.

I would gladly read such an article.

    • Posted By: Flanders @ 02/11/2008 2:16:25 PM

While I am in favor of Obama over Clinton, I have to agree with you that the media coverage has been biased, but then again, isn't it always? Its all about ratings and what makes for the best story.

  • Posted By: BrooklineMike617 @ 02/11/2008 10:17:36 AM

To HolyRoller inquiring wheter Obama is "a Shiite or a Sunni" -

On the cotnrary, yours is not an 'enquiring mind'. I suppose it would be more Christian of me to forgive your ignorance and turn the other cheek but I must set the record straight. Barack is not a Muslim; that being said, why do you ask as if it were a crime to be Muslim?

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/11/2008 10:53:44 AM

A Christian? He is an Islamic sympathizer at best, possibly much worse. His goal is to destabilize hard fought victories in Iraq, reduce Western influence int the Middle East, help flame unrest in Pakistan, and attends a "church" where his own children award the likes of Louis Farakahn awards. His Iman has been quoted that 9/11 was the fault of the U.S.A. Members pledge allegiance to Afrika. Sounds mohammed to me.

      • Posted By: Flanders @ 02/11/2008 11:30:26 AM

Your unbased, uneducated rhetoric is silly. Lets pretend he did care or sympathized with Muslims for a moment though. That would be horrible, and I'm sure Jesus would not stand for caring about someone different from us, right?

        • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/11/2008 1:31:09 PM

Not when they want us dead.

  • Posted By: Tommypie @ 02/11/2008 1:06:17 PM

I am so pleased that Obama is winning all over the place. Althjough I do not like him, anyone is bettr than Bill and Hillary in the White House again. The had their turn, let somone else take the reins and let them go home to Arkansas. It will be difficult to stop the Clinton political machine, but it can and must be done. Soon we will see their campaign begin to unravel; in fact we are already seeing some of it. It is the beginning of the end for them. Good riddance and farewell!

  • Posted By: christianslayer1955 @ 02/10/2008 10:26:33 PM

As a Black Man,I always used to say that a Black man would never become president of this country until it's stupid citizens had brought it close to the point of destruction...We are at the point right now and my prediction is at hand.I am waiting to see how fast they will turn against this black man.....I do not give him 1 year before the same white folks who will vote for him in November to show their true colors.

    • Posted By: Saltydog_0 @ 02/11/2008 12:04:52 PM

It's too bad that your tunnel vision only allows you to see the world through a pessimistic fearful lense. America has made progress towards Dr. King's dream. We will continue to make progress towards equality. If your not willing to open your mind to the possibility of change, you won't recognize it when it happens.

  • Posted By: orionspop @ 02/10/2008 10:06:47 PM

ii is too bad that we have to savage each other in a campaign for the nomination. I like Obama and I also like Hillary, John McCain is a good person. But for the record I will take either Hillary or Obama, notice how every one says hillary (first name and for the men we use the last name) Sexist, yes!!! The irony is that it will take a miracle worker to save the nation and the economy. And God is not running

    • Posted By: Saltydog_0 @ 02/11/2008 11:55:59 AM

Could it be that people refer to her as Hillary to distinguish her from Bill? I call her Hillary. I'm not sexist.
I guess everyone sees what they want to see.

A lady can never be too polite especially in the face of the young voters that this article is focusing in on. While the youth are easily caught up in fun and fluff they are the best detectors of cons and fakes and i would be careful to be a leader courting them lest you hear from the mouth of babes "sir you have no clothes on" because someone sold you a magic suit. Not Hillary - look at her daughter - she shines as bright as the noonday sun (without cosmetication) and is a role model for all good and polite women she is one of them and she loves her mom and you can tell. She also would not let anyone sell her mom a suit of fine magic thread for she has red the Emporers fabel not long ago and she has her back and hopefully will help her get those votes that her mom deserves.

    • Posted By: vince.stewart @ 02/11/2008 10:33:24 AM

Big Money lobbyists have already sold her the 'magic suit'.....

  • Posted By: Chief8 @ 02/11/2008 10:19:33 AM

Holy Roller - Obama is not Muslim and you know it. Stop trying to fan flames of intolerance.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/11/2008 10:32:00 AM

Are you ignorant or maybe you wear a burqa. He is an Islamic sympathizer at best. He would give away hard fought victories in Iraq, he wants to negotiate with terrorist states, he wants to encourage a civil war in Pakistan. His "church" requires allegiance to Africa, his own daughters presented the great Louis Farrakahn his award. Where was Hussein's anti-war retoric when Christians are being slaughtered. I guess he just votes present on these type of issues. He is an Islamic sympathizer at best.

In the past seven days Barack Obama has won primaries or caucuses in eighteen states and with projected wins this week in Virginia and Maryland he will have won twenty States in eight days. He was won all over the country and in States with less than 10% African American population such as Nebraska, Maine, and North Dakota, and States such as Washington and Minnesota with very few African Americans. His appeal to all Americans of all colors and religions and all parts of the coutnry is vast - and is growing. The Clinton's win-at-all costs mean spirited campaign of the politics of personal destruction and tearing down your opponent with rumors, lies, innunendos, and race baiting is wearing on the public. Clinton may be holding her base but the more the voters get to know Barack Obama he is expanding his. The Clintons will stop at nothing to destroy this man even of it means destroying the Democratic party's chances of regaining the White House. Obama is running a campaign of hope, change, inspiration and working together to solve our nations problems while the Clinton's are running a campaign of tearing their opponents apart. The American people are smarter than the Clinton's think and all their mud slingling and dirty campaigning is not going to stop Obama. The American voters see thru what the Clinton's are doing and are responding in kind with their most powerful weapon - their votes!

  • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/11/2008 10:00:18 AM

To all you Obama supporters-I have a serious question. Is he Shiite or Sunni? Enquiring minds want to know.

  • Posted By: Ganpat @ 02/11/2008 8:40:56 AM

The trouble with Hillary is that she is too low-key, too polite.

To win an election against an arrogant opponent like Obama, one has to be outspoken, fast with punchy one-liners. That's not Hillary.

She is too much of a policy-wonk politician for such tough-guy sock-it -to -them campaigning.

Harry Truman is a good model for Hillary, though it is too late now. When you are under pressure, you don't "tear up" and staret talk self-pityingly about the voters letting you down. No, you grin twice as hard, throw your hat in the air, whoop, and come out fighting. The public will; love you for such a show of fire.

This is a test of leadership mettle, and Hillary, so far from being despondent, ought to revel in it. She should tell people: I'm having the time of my life !

Alas, she has adopted a despirited, gloom-soaked, fire-the-manager approach, and that spells certain defeat.

McCain will slaughter Obama. Hillary's faithful women, Latinos and working-class supporters will back him against the rip-off artist Obama.

    Well done, Mr. Romano.

  • Posted By: Ganpat @ 02/11/2008 7:09:04 AM

John McCain will deal with your generation, Romano. He will wipe the floor with Obama.
