Comment: The leaders of both the Republican and Democratic Parties are moving us closer and closer to Socialism, away from our Constitution (the true Test of American Patriotism). Both major parties pushed through the Patriot Act (a direct violation of our civil liberties) allowing the Federal government (and the lawmakers) greater access in to our personal lives. We have welfare, medicare, and medicaid, all basically federal government subsidies for Americans as a socialist distribution of wealth and commodities. Then, we have the continuation of undeclared War (a direct violation of our Constitution), allowing the President (or socialist leader) the ability to unilaterally decide whether our country (our Americans) go fight in another country using military resources and costing volunteer military lives.
The very core values of America that the founding fathers of our country laid out for us are being destroyed, and our nation is moving in a perilous direction. The American people need to Wake up from their Slumber, and start helping educate their fellow Americans that we are not Socialists, but in fact we are a Nation of Patriots (people who live by and die for civil liberty as well as individual rights).
Our country sorely needs a third party that will rejuvinate and unify the 40% of Americans that usually don't vote, to overcome the two party system of the Socialist Democrats and Socialist Republicans. Individuals always care for other individuals through charity and good deeds, the Federal government steals from individuals to line the pockets of the Corporations and maintain power for itself, leaving whatever remains recycled back to the American people.
Stop sleep walking into Socialism --- Wake up and fight for our Founding Fathers core values of freedom and equality for all! Freedom from the Federal government intervention! Freedom from excessive taxation!

Comment: "There's only "a dime's worth of difference" between the Republican and Democratic parties, and they're fighting over that dime! "
    Obama, Clinton, McCain, Huckabee --
    1. All voted to continue funding the Iraq War.
    2. All support "comprehensive immigration reform" -- Washington speak for Amnesty for illegal aliens. They want their big corporation buddies to be happy now don't they with their cheap labor. Meanwhile we pay higher taxes to offset the burden that would put on Social security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare. If you subsidize something you get more of it, the more we subsidize illegal immigration the more we will get of it, and the more illegal alien families will be affected and hurt.
    3. All wish to enact some socialist program or another for the "greater good" -- Translation, we want you to pay higher taxes so we (the federal government) can spend it in the way that benefits our special interest group. Obama (Health care insurance companies), Clinton ( Pharmaceuticals), McCain (Military industrial complex including all military corporations), Huckabee (Military industrial complex).
    4. All are for reforming Washington and ridding it of government and lobbyist control (well so they say).
    5. All support the Patriot Act (a direct violation of our civil liberties)

Comment: Why would any one who is in the race for President not give people the choice to pick who they want as their President, and listen to them who say drop out? Great men don't listen to selfcenterness, or downright (ignorance)!! You have every right to stay in the race!! You go Mike Huckabee!!!

Comment: I guess we'll have to wait to see what kind of grade he got whilst majoring in miracles. My guess is he's going to fail miserably. It's not a miracle until he wins the nomination. If he does, I have no doubt it's a miracle. God must want him to take the blame for the fall of the Republicans in November. And if he goes on to become president, well then I think God just wants to punish us!

Comment: Huckabee or no Huckabee, John McCain still has to earn his presumptive front-runner status with the GOP. Huck's insurgence in the red base states only demonstrates how many conservatives still feel unrepresented by his candidacy. It is not fair to call him a "spoiler;" it is more correct to say McCain has to work a lot harder to make his case. "Brokered convention" may not just be a term for the Dems this year...

Comment: I'm for Huckabee and his stand. I hope to see a miracle in this because of the moral issues. I think this country is going to be judged acording to our deeds from God. Look at history for the last 4000 yrs and the people that honor God. God blesses those that find out what is right & wrong and do what is right. We see that today in people that live in countries side by side so I think Huckabee has the credentials to lead us a lot better than any of the rest who are in the race.

Comment: The many pathetic comments made by liberals in this thread prove that most liberals are intolerant, elitist bigots! Apparently your litmus test for presidential candidates is that a person running should have no core beliefs. You are so insecure about your own beliefs that your only defense is to tear down people who are banning gay marriage and having secure in their own. So what if Huckabee is a Christian!? So are most Americans. So what if Romney is a Mormon!? So are many Americans. Do you only tolerate atheists?

Please provide examples of how Huckabee imposed his beliefs and created a theocracy in Arkansas as governor or how Romney turned the governor's mansion into a Mormon Temple. Please give me proof that all of Huckabee's staff and Romney's staff were Christian and Mormons. Please provide proof of either of them trying to convert the people they have represented while they have been politicians. Please provide proof of them conducting sermons from their podiums. Don't bother because you won't be able to find any. The very fact that I am even writing this now is proof of how intolerant the left has become or has always been. During your job interview, did your interviewer ask you anything about your religious beliefs? Of course not because they would be sued. Did you ask the interviewer what the religious beliefs were of the CEO of the company and the employees working there? Of course not. Then why do you spend so much time worrying about the beliefs of Huckabee and Romney? The impression you give me is that you are an intolerant bigot.

Twister52 - Romney is okay but he is a flip flopper and seems to have positions when they are politically convenient. I am not labeling him but the proof is in the pudding. How can Romney say that he will do more for gays than Ted Kennedy in 94 and protect a woman's right to choose as late as 2002 and just 5 years later talk about banning gay marriage and pro-life credentials? http://youtube.com/watch?v=a9IJUkYUbvI&feature=related
http://youtube.com/watch?v=P_w9pquznG4 The reason Romney didn't get the nomination has nothing to do with his Mormon beliefs or Huckabee or anything else. People did not trust his principles or his character or believe someone that says one thing one day and another the next. I would think some Mormons are upset he is the current face of their faith. If Romney continues to hold his current beliefs over the next many years and publicly fights for them he may be convincing but he isn't right now. Romney really withdrew for the good of himself and his reputation, not for the good of the Republican party.

Comment: I think it's quite entertaining now to watch Huckabee scare McCain. Romney got out at just the right time. Now Huckabee has just enough of a chance to raise McCain's blood pressure but no chance of winning. The closer he gets the more everyone will start to villify him for staying in the race and fracturing Republicans plus McCain is bound to start directing some of his nastiness towards Huckabee when he really feels pushed in a corner. With the only good candidate out of the running now, all that's left is to watch the soap opera unfold.

Comment: Mike Huckabee's remark that "he does not major in math, he majors in miracle" is scary. George W. Bush believes in miracle. During the Iraq war, we see crushing math numbers in humanity, economices, and American leadership without any miracles. For those who were killed or handicaped during the war, no miracle could heal their wound. Huckabee is more radical than Bush in Church over State and he is getting more and more influential in American politics. Are Americans suffering from a neurodegenerative disease from coast to coast?

Comment: If you think the Republicans have no enthusiasm for their candidates, visit Mike's wedsite www.mikehuckabe.com. He generates the kind of enthusiasm that drives people to the polls and is lacking with John McCain. McCain is a fine man, but let's face it, if it weren't for Huckabee right now running against him, he wouldn't even be in the news at all. Hillary and Obama dominate the news. Huckabee is keeping the Republicans front and foremost in the news. He is a brilliant man, has run the most fiscally conservative campaign, has fresh ideas (Fair tax, economy stimulus, health care plan, etc.) and can go up against Obama or Hillary in debates and "smear" them. If we don't have someone that can invoke the passion you'll see at Huckabee's website, we don't have a chance in November.

  • Posted By: goldch @ 02/10/2008 8:05:21 AM

Comment: Hey, Huckelberry, here's a clue for you - if you want to win over Romney supporters, don't accuse them of not being true to their convictions. This kind of back handed insult is just the kind of B.S. we have come to expect from the Huskster and why Romney supporters will never go to this Gomer. Besides, Romney all but endorsed McCain by dropping out in order to clear the way for a national convention. Like McCain's own mother said, we're just going to have to plug our collective noses and pull the lever for Juan McAmnesty as a way of respecting Romney, the only candidate who actually deserves to be president.

Next to an actual contender like John McCain he comes off like Pee Wee Herman if he decided to totally lose his mind and become an evangelical idiot savant. And next to Hilary and Obama, he comes off as presidential as SpongeBob Squarepants!

He could win or come close in Washington state who for some reason quit counting their small number of caucus goers. Was Paul winning? Anwyay, I like Mike and hope he keeps enjoying himself. Paul and Huck give voters an option besides Mac and until Mac sews it up there is nothing wrong with pushing on.

Comment: So how exactly is Huckabee a "died-in-the-wool conservative" if he raised taxes and commuted sentences of criminals who later went out and committed more atrocius crimes?

And how in the world does he REALLY think he's going to win this thing when every single victory he's had (7 total including today's, which BTW is still four less than Romney had and he bowed out even BEFORE today's contests......) has been in the South? Get real. Romney won victories that were literally coast to coast (Maine and Massechusetts all the way to Alaska and states in between) AND had more people vote for him on Super Tuesday than Huckabee. Try as Huckabee might it ain't gonna happen. And he knows it. Shoot, everyone knows it. Absolutely comical that McCain says that Huckabee is still a "realistic threat". That's called "reaching out to the right", folks.

So why is Huckabee still in it? Because he wants the VP slot, plain and simple. Did you notice the "of course I'd support McCain over the Democrat candidates"statement? Nice plug. If McCain gives it to him I'm gonna' puke. Scream "foul!" all you want but if Huckabee hadn't have been so selfish as to stay in the race covertly fighting for the VP slot, if you check the "popular vote" statistics from Super Tuesday, Romney, even without all the votes from Huckabee's supporters, would likely have emerged from Super Tuesday as the front-runner. I say that because with McCain's liberal record, like refusing to get on board to amend the Constitutional amendment train defining marriage as between a man and a woman (I've lived in the South for 9 years.....they don't like Mormons but they HATE gays!), certainly a HUGE chunk of Southern voters would have pulled the lever for Romney since they're too smart to think that Ron Paul would win.

Too bad that the very best candidate on both sides of the fence bowed out because people just couldn't believe that a good man with integrity, ability and intelligence actually exists.

    Enjoy the fight, ya'll!

    Romney 2012!

Also the fact that he's refuses to say the Pledge of Allegiance, or salute Our flag is appalling!!!! This point alone makes him unfit for the office of President, or for that matter to even be called a "Citizen" of this great nation!! But does the media say anything about this ,NOOOOO!!! They some how forgot that LOYALTY&RESPECT work hand in hand to reveal the true "CHARACTER" of an individual as Obama. As for "Billary" HEAVAN HELP US !!!!!

Unless you want a female Hitler in office you might want to keep that in mind. McCain is a Democrat running under the Republican

Comment: Fineman, you dumb ass, another probing interview. You are the ultimate Media whore..You never asked him any questions on his outrageous religious bigotry. Dahhhhh Maybe you could have asked him what he meant when he said "the bible in more important than the constitution" and when he ran his adds with a hugh cross behind him (more than once) He is a religious bigot. You are a second rate thinker and a third rate journalist...RIP Newsweek, buy a better political writer before you loose all credibility
