I didn't like his comment either, but as an "intellectual" college-educated female...I feel that there is no way I can relate to Chelsea Clinton. She admits she had to set the table, but her table was set with the white house dishes and real silver. I would love to be able to take months off of my job to help my mom, but sadly I need to make money so I can support myself.

Let's see...your about 20 years old...may I point out that relating to Chelsea is really not important in this, your first, Presidential election. Please use you time and intellect to study the candidates and vote with your head as opposed to your heart. This will absolutely effect your future! Vote smart!

I do not know who will get my vote. It is impossible for me to tell yet. I was raised in the Veit Nam era and lost many friends but because McCain was a POW does that make him the man? Then I switch to the first ever black man to get this far with no experience. So far I think I like the no experience, cause where has experience gotten us? And no I am not black. Then comes the ex first lady to a gentleman that lied his way through the White House. She turned a shoulder as he enjoyed the under the desk kind of thing. But I will tell you that Hilliary loves our gov. here in MI and if you live in MI you would know that most of us would love to get rid of her and her blow you away statement. My problem is if anyone pushed Hilliary to the wall is she going to cry and fight for her daughter or is she going to try to become a person with commmentment for the people of the USA. What is strange to me is I am a woman and I do not think most woman are emotionally capable of handling that kind of situtaion.

Please don't repeat that last sentence to your daughter(s) or grandaughter(s), or anyone for that matter. I hope you will soon realize that women and men are of equal strength and intelligence.

I suggest that you research each candidate's platform issues and background to discover who's issues mostly line up with your values and how their campaign promises will benefit you on a daily basis to meet your needs, Please try and first put all the emotionalsim, excitement, inspiration generated by candidates while on the campiagn stump on hold while doing this process, and think critically and rationally about who you think makes the best case in being able to protect this country from terrorist attacks at home and abroad, advocate for world peace and unity nationally and Internationally, create more liveable wage jobs, lift people up from poverty, hunger, homelessness, advocate for affordable universial healthcare for children and adults, advocate for better Veteran's Healthcare, advocate to protect Social Security and keep it from being privitized, advocate for better educational opportunties for students grade school thru college, and balance the budget, next decide what candidate has the best qualifications and experience to make their campiagn issues a reality..try and look past the candidates personal quirks, quirms, and fallacies, because they are not or should not affect you personally or help you in anyway, but what you should base your voting decision on is what candidate after study their issues after taking office from" Day One" is able and prepared to meet your personal on-going needs, then vote for that candidate who you think best meets that criteria.

America desperately needs a President who is capable of making good divisions for the American people. The Clintons were in for (8) years. Bill was elected to be president. This is not her so called experience. He lied as Governor. As President he lied, cheated, harbored a married minister and is pregnant mistress in the White House. He also released hundreds of prisoners just before he left, found guilty of all charges he should have been impeached. A big disgrace over the world for America. Bad choice from Hillary, going to war with Iraq and at first denied it. Enough is enough from the Clintons. Which way is she going? She said she wants to be the 1st woman and always wears pants? Enough of the power struck Clintons.

"America desperately needs a President who is capable of making good divisions" ...little Freudian slip there! Who do YOU think will make those good DIVISIONS?

I WAS for Hilary until the day I went to the voting booth. I have seen her become more and more manipulitive,
negative and nasty toward her opponent. This reminds me of the same old same old since the fifties.Look at news reels and you will see what I am talking about. She has learned too many bad habits from the best of the best in the political arena. So on that day I thought of my grand children. In my lifetime it's been the same
political machine.Promises made and broken.Hillary gets most of her money from WHERE??? LOBBYISTS!!! Will she owe a few favors if she wins???? Once again the writing is on the wall. I feel it's time to let the whole world know that we are an intelligent, diversified, caring county that includes ALL of our people.
Bill Clinton.... He should be quiet... His record isn't that greatest especially his moral values. So I voted for Obama. The Clintons are just like EVERYONE before them. Watch how manipulative she will become as the race heats up and you will see what I have seen. Watch where her money comes from, watch Bill become ALL moral and back her on every issue. Remember he owes her and she is collecting..... She owes and THEY (Lobbyists) will be collecting if she becomes President . Again it will be the same old same old. I don't want that for my grand children. Do you???

They turn political news coverage into a sideshow circus, diverting attention from and distorting the real issues Americans face daily.??? The Democrats are lucky to have the 2 intelligent candidates running - as opposed to the GOP - which is a group comprising of more of the same or worse (yawn) - my hope is that Clinton/Obama will be elected President/VP of the United States. Our country will begin to heal from the horror that is Bush/GOP.

Your statement line up wiht so many gender biased American's doing this election season, the cloth's Hillary is wearing has nothing to do with how she would govern this country, by the same token, also I se people are still stuck in the past about his affair with Monica Lewinsky, If his wife and God has forgiven him for this affair, that's all that really count, his personal affairs should not have or still be affecting you personally one way or the otherSo it's best for you to move on on this subject, because that's teally God's and Hillary's business. Second point, Bill is not the first and only President who has or will parton prisoners at the end of there terms, that's pretty standard of them on there last day in office, Justified or unjustified, Thrid point, Bill had better political relationship other world leaders over the current President's while in office, since then, Bush has managed to squander those bonded realtionships due to his cowboy dipolmacy, but I agree with you on Hillary's vote to go to war with Iraq, that's a bad political decision, but now she's trying to overcome that bad decision by promising to start bringing our troops home within 60 days of taking over the Oval Office. Anyway, Hillary is now running for office, not Bill. Not trying in anyway to justify what Hillary did, but people are capable of making bad decisons frorm time to time, because we're human and subject to err, but she's aggresively trying to corrrect that err, which is the right , correct, and honorable thing to do. Go Hillary!

I will add that I am voting for Hilliary for the following reasons. 1. She has incredible fortitude. How many would have crumbled under the microscope that was her life during the lewinsky debacle. It's not that she didn't endure his infidelity prior to that, but she was prioritizing the stages of her life. I believe she used it to her advantage. Even though she was hurt and embarrassed beyond words, she was able to go to that "place" and essentially re-invent herself on the spot, without LOSING herself in the process. Out of all of the first ladies who had to endure infidelity, or their own demons, how many were put out there in the spotlight? They were all protected, or sheltered away from the media. 2. She knows that we cannot just "pull out" of Iraq with record speed. The consequences would be dire, to say the least. I believe she will, in the beginning, make it her priority to show herself to the powers of the other countries in a way that will evoke a belief that we are going to bring this war to an end, and with peaceful resolve. 3. She has enemies, yes. But, she also has the necessary political connections to get things done, actually on both sides. 4. Read between the lines when she says" From day one, I am ready to be Commander and Chief". She is the only one who can navigate through the quagmire with an efficient pace to stop the bleeding. 5. I believe HRC will get the nomination. I hope both HRC, and OB will be our leaders in to the future.

  • Posted By: suz4bear @ 02/12/2008 2:50:15 AM

Interesting posts. Question: Do any of you think that either would run on the ticket as a VP? I don't think HRC would, but I think BO would. I have to say that I haven't tuned in to the debates, so I can't comment on some of those topics. Sometimes I think that everything that has come down the pike with the economy was perpetrated by Bush because he knew that his invasion of Iraq(and the countless lies to the American public), would mar any chance of another GOP taking a seat in the Oval Office( at least for this election). But, maybe not. Things have shifted here as of late. I think that there are some democrats that will vote for McCain if their candidate doesn't get the nomination. However, even those "conservatives" who don't like McCain will vote the party, you can be sure of that. So, I think that McCain and the GOP are studying "The Art Of War", by Sun Tzu very closely these days. The strategy seems to be taking hold. I guess what I would really like to convey here is that we, as a country, have to make the change family by family. Take responsibility for our own health and welfare. It starts with prevention. This will be very hard, maybe impossible to actually have that occur. Prevention that moves in to all areas, health, finances, excess. People were ripe for the subprime, extension of credit, lulled in to that false sense of a "strong" economy. After all, how old were most of these people when the last crash happened? I'm sure some of our older population got sucked in, but I'm guessing that the ages ranged from 30-60. So now we are, make no mistake about it, in an escalating recession. Even though Bill Clinton took on a deficit that was left by the first Bush, it is all together different today. I am not sure a universal healthcare platform is doable, really. Yes, I believe that we should take care of our own first, no one in this country should be hungry or be without essentials, but that is a very broad statement to make. I think most people think that it will be a blanket coverage type of health care. But how can that be, really? Supply and demand factors in here. We need to begin to think differently here. Do whatever it takes to get out of debt. BKR isn't the end of the world. Start over. Make a conscious effort to be healthier. Strengthen your family from within, what happens nationally will not affect you as much. I do believe that the present administration is responsible for the hatred that is felt for us Americans. That can be turned around too. Some countries have always been jealous, that is different. The hatred was evoked in the last decade or so. So who might be the president that can stop the hatred? Who is viewed by other countries to have diplomacy, and can be trusted? Think about that when you cast your vote.

The Clintons are as corrupt as can be. What's more disheartening and hard to fathom, is the sheer number of gullible, entitlement minded supporters there are for them. Especially when the Clintons criminal history is still relatively fresh. I fear for the future of our country, when so many potential voters are more enamoured with gender politics and pop culture than the more important issue of character and adherance to the Constitution. The Clintons are not only power-mad, but they also promise a Socialist/Marxist style of government. Something their supporters either ignore, or actually support. The ignorance and rejection of the greatness of America by the Democrat electorate is stunning and sad. The ominous, looming danger of a Clinton or even an Obama Presidency is horrifying.

My daughter was involved in the D.A.R.E program during elementary school. He is not a role model i want my child to think that i approve of. How do teachers explain this to there students when asked the same question? I noticed at his pep rallys there were alot of very young students there.

If you did't know alcohol is not illegal and is considered to be a disability. Alcoholics can not be discriminated against. No one is perfect but I feel the presidential race should offer the people who have been law abideing citizens and be role models for our children. I'm sorry you feel differently.

What's ominous, looming or horrifying is the thought of another 8 years heading in the same direction Bush has taken us. I can only hope Hillary, or even Obama, can return this country to the prosperous years under the Bill Clinton administration, when this country was respected and financially strong.

When people make change, it is called flip-flopping. When they don't, they are ridgid. You can't have it both ways, guy! I would hope that a 27 year old woman is capable of making her own choices, independent of her parents. I started doing that at about fifteen. Your criticism is reminiscent of the fights we had on the play ground...just missing the nah nah nah! to go with it. If you don't like her stand on policy, could we hear some intelligent comments on that instead of "bashing"?

The GOP doesn't seem to mind if affairs are going on as long as it's male and female. When one of their own is doing that, it's ok. However, when a male congressman gets caught soliciting sex in a bathroom, they all desert him. Completel hypocrisy. But what's new? That party is full of lies and liars. They are anti choice, anti gay, and pro war, and prowealthy. Unite behind the Democrat and vote the liars out of office.

  • Posted By: jeanette713 @ 02/11/2008 10:09:05 AM

If Obama is so great, why not let him win the nomination on his own merits rather than bashing the Clintonsin order to suggest he is the better choice. This message is for the media as well.

    • Posted By: jaymiller @ 02/11/2008 10:24:02 AM

If the Clinton campaign was not so intent on controlling anything and everything related to Hillary's run, then maybe the media would stop being so negative. Having a "town hall" on the Hallmark Channel with open-ended softball questions is hardly the way to win people over. If Hillary wants to make any inroads and blunt any of Obama's momentum, she needs to start talking straighter (e.g. regarding her Iraq vote) and start talking to people who don't like her; I fail to see how she expects to make any progress preaching to her choir. Have a town hall on Spike TV next time.

Exactly! The majority was in favor at the time based on bad information... why is it an issue now? Doesn't it make sense that now based on better and more obviously correct information that someone's opinion would be changed? If Hillary didn't feel differently now I would be worried. but she is smarter than that!! Politicians are not the only ones that make mistakes... thank God we are allowed to change our minds and/or correct our mistakes.

  • Posted By: sean2002 @ 02/11/2008 10:42:38 AM

No politician is perfect. In order to counter the above Hillary hater's irrational scream, the following is from the syndicated columnist Bonnie Erbe:

"The "phenom" phase of Sen. Barack Obama's campaign may be ending. The shine may be starting to deflect off the star. Yes, it's still a tight race for the Democratic presidential nomination between the junior senator from Illinois and the junior senator from New York. But up to this point, Obama has had the distinct advantage (and disadvantage) of being less well known. That era will soon be behind him.

Most damaging to Obama so far is a New York Times article published several days ago showing that while in Iowa during a stump speech Obama claimed to have "passed" a bill regulating nuclear power plants.

Trouble is, that measure never was approved by the Senate. The bill was to have required nuclear power plants to alert citizens if even minor leaks of radioactive waste were discovered. Under current law, only significant leaks must be made public.

While Obama claimed to have "passed" a bill that never did pass, he also participated in negotiations that watered down the measure to the point of meaninglessness. That, however, didn't stop him from claiming the mantle of being pro-environment and anti-nuclear pollution while campaigning. Is this another case of "I invented the Internet"?

What's worse, he took campaign contributions worth hundreds of thousands of dollars from Exelon executives and employees. Exelon is the company that owned a plant that kept smaller leaks quiet. According to its own Web site, it is also the largest nuclear power provider in the nation.

We can all expect to see more of the same as reporters dig deeper into Obama's record. For example, are the young and/or upscale ultra-liberals who form the core of his voter base going to be thrilled by comments he made while in Idaho, trying to portray himself as pro-gun rights?

According to The Washington Post's Web site, the following happened while he made a visit to Boise State University's Taco Bell Arena before a roaring crowd of thousands:

"Obama was not shy about tailoring his stump speech for the setting, adding a line to rebut any fears that he is aggressively pro-gun control, an issue he almost never mentions on the trail. He urged the crowd not to listen to 'people who say, "He doesn't believe in the Second Amendment." We've got a lot of hunters in Southern Illinois and I've got no intention of taking away people's guns.' "

How are the ultra-liberals going to feel when they learn their shining star is hunter- and gun-friendly? Is this guy a friend of Mitt Romney -- liberal while campaigning in blue states and conservative while in red states?"

Should Newsweek explore Obama more deeply and not just join the other mainstream media doing the PR work for him?

    • Posted By: Massiel08 @ 02/11/2008 11:24:18 AM

Oh so we should want in a leader some one who votes like an average joe? Shouldnt we want someone who asks the tough questions before we headed into Iraq? i see your buying into President Clinton "fairytale" argument.....Well just to tell you the facts. Voting to fund the troops doesnt mean he supports the war, or voting on the patriot act after working on reforming civil liberties which Obama did doesnt mean he supports the bill as it is. Be practical and reasonable.

      • Posted By: Toby Wiseone @ 02/11/2008 11:11:35 PM

or.....................do we vote for a president who just votes present or doesn't show up for the vote? I think the answer is you vote for the person with the guts to VOTE. Obviously when you vote you have a record that's open for scrutiny.
