She chooses to enter the political arena, then she must be avaiable for interviews and criticism that are fair, objective and respectful. But the Clintons cannot have their cake and eat it.They complained bitterly against the remarks by Shuster of MSNBC and virtually demanded their pound of flesh. While the remarks were a bit harsh it did not warrant a suspension perhaps just the apology which he gave. They must remember that their campaign called Obama a drug pusher and all that was done by them was an apology and then a day after their campaign adviser Penn repeated the drug pusher remark on TV much to the disgust of Edwards and Obama's campaign people. The Clintons must know that we don't have Royalty in America and Chelsea by entering the arena must be treated like anu other political operative.
cecil.
And Penn was FIRED.
If she is going to send her daughter out to work for her benefit, HRC needs to step off her high horse when she gets called on the carpet for pimping her out. I'm not saying she shouldn't be upset about the comment, but once she put her kid in the spotlight, strictly for her own benefit, she opens her daughter up to that type of commentary.
When a daughter speaks out in support of her mother ~~~ why would it be called "pimping her out"?? Does George W. "Pimp out" his father and/or his mother when they speak on his bahalf?? Or better yet - when George H.W. Bush ran for President -- I'm sure his son George W. spoke to crowds on his behalf. Was it called "pimping him out" then?? The only reason it is an issue or it has been considered OK to do is because there are so many who consider themselves Clinton haters and they got away with these hateful remarks since Chelsea was a pre-teen in braces. Enough is Enough! It is wrong no matter what side you are on. NO one ... especially someones child should have to be subjected to this kind of talk just because they support their parent for a public office. Who among us whould not do the same for our own family??
The democratic party is very divided, obviously, about who should go to Washington and implement much needed change. As a mental health counselor, I am concerned about the numbers of people, especially children, who are not receiving the assistance they need. Without intervention early, America's brightest is decreased and become a burden to society instead of an asset. They never receive the message of hope and understanding, acceptance and support ,that most of us have gotten in our own homoes and without it they struggle to grow up without servious mental health diagnoses and personality disorders. We cut programs to help them, only to have to spend the money later to incarcerate a large number of them, after they have taken or ruined lives. I feel that Hillary will support the young in a way that other candidates cannot by creating a health reform program that will take care of our young people- the future of this great Country is at stake and she knows the odds. She has the blend of compassion and reason to see us through this particular, and most important crisis. My son is serving in Iraq, proudly, and I am proud of him and his committment to protect and follow the directorate of the Commander in Chief. He will be home, God willing, in April and I pray that other mother's will not have to hold their children to their breast, fearfully, before watching them walk off to fight dangerous enemies. War is not the answer, but improved policies at home are. If we are going to be in Iraq, why not seize the oil fields as we have been accused of anyway, and return them when everyone agrees to play nice. Otherwise, we blow up the oil fields and come home. Radical for a bleeding liberal, huh? We are tired of the cost in lives of this war, and what exactly are we getting? Safety as the Republicans suggest? Think again! Judy Gabehart.
Inspire inspire seems like that's all Obama has. I don't know you but been good is not enough.
Demontrated skills to manage this country is what I need, besides that's what inspire me.

The "pimp" comment about Chelsea was very inappropriate. However, it was nothing compared to the humiliation caused by Bill's Monica affair (and dozens of others affairs through the years) - which showed how llittle respect he really has for his wife, his daughter, and America. He should have been DUMPED!
The issue is, he got caught. Look at JFK, all the sneaking around to hotel rooms. Don't get me wrong, I liked JFK. The point is, there were many presidents that did the same thing...but didn't get caught, or should I say brought to everyones attention because of their dislike. And if you don't think there are Congressmen and Senators that have some skeletons, you are sadly mistaken.

What a great description of this phenomenon! Obama zombies. No matter what they are faced with, they ignore. Even the last debate where he stuttered and faltered, they thought he won. It is like being in LOVE, only seeing the positive. If the election were a couple of years away, the chemistry would disappear.
I agree we should no see positivity in our elected officials. We should tear them down and knee cap them! Yeah. those obama zombies are stupid voting for someone they believe in, what is this world coming to? We should vote based on experience like McCain or Cheney or even better some one who takes PAC money and Lobbyist money like Sen.Clinton. She has alot more negative points than Obama but we should ignore those negative points and still vote for her!! Because Clinton zombies know how crooked the system is but instead of wanting to change it with a candidate like Obama who argues for transparency we should just elect Sen.clinton who cant release any tax documents or white house documents. Clinton zombies are the real phenomenon if you ask me.
Massieo8 ~~ have you gone back and read any of your comments? You definitely have ANGER issues. Perhaps you need a friend to talk to. Everything you write is so attacking -- and lacks any substance. I don't know if you are a man or woman but your partner (if you have one) must have you very angry. Please seek some help before the November elections. If you are a dem -- we need your vote regardless of who our Nominee is. If you continue to be so angry you might not make it until November -- Chill out! It's good for your health.
Hillary should be denied the right of becoming President just because her husband was. It doesn't autmatically entitle her to it either. I can see the history books now: Bush...Clinton...Bush...Clinton. We were fooled one by Bush and It's about to happen again. Thank you Hillary supporters for another 8 years of the status quo.
I strongly disagree wit h your statement, Hillary is her own person with her own ideas, this is not about entitlement, but a passion for wanting to make her contributions in trying to tackle and fix the mess Bush will leave behind in 2009, Please remember that Change does not always equate to positive results, it could easily turn the opposite way where a candidate could make us worse off then we are now, God forbid, So be careful what you wish for, you may or may not like the results the of 360 degree Change you are trusting for Obama to bring. I guarentee to you it want be the status quo exhibited by either candidate if elected, because Change will happen whoever becomes President, but the question is; in which direction the change will ultimately end up in in 4 more years at the end of Hillary's or Obama's Presidency, but I believe Hillary has a little more experience and qualifications, of making a greater and longer lasting positive change that would mostly benefit the average working voters, not just the college educated professional voters like me who are mostly voting for Obama. This is why I choose to vote for Hillary.
I agree and you said it so nicely without attacking Senator Obama. There are others here that could learn from you.
I think Obama should find some new friends to surround himself with. Oprah is a talk show host -- not a political analyst - he needs people around him that care about the issues of the people in this country -- help our poor and our neglected (there are plenty of them) Ted Kennedy is "old school" Washington and NOT the best example of morality. Lastly, I'm sure if and when Senator Obama becomes the Dem Nominee the Republican attack dogs will find plenty of dirt under the rug to "swift boat" him just like they did John Kerry in 2004. The question is -- does he have the strength and stamina to stand up against it like Hillary has for over 20 years. I just have to wonder.
That is true Sen.Obama should not sorround himself with Oprah, what has she ever done for poor or neglected people? I mean running a charity organization or setting up schools for neglected and abused little girls..so what!! she is a billionaire. The way she has made her money is dirty but the way the Clintons have made their millions NOW that is american honor. Yeah I want somebody with strength and stamina like hillary because politics need more of the fighting and tearing each other down and FOR SURe if Clinton is the nominee we will get that!!!
First off -- I did not critize Oprah. I know full well what she has done and she should be commended for it. I never said she did anything dirty and your comment is very immature. She is very influential and is a millionaire -- but that doesn't necessarily mean that she knows everything there is to know about who would make the best president. Just the same she is very influential and people will make decisions on what she says rather than what they know. Your comment supports what I said ....."running a charity organizaiton or setting up schools for neglected and abused little girls -- but what about the neglected and abused little girls in this country??? I'm all for helping the outside world - but let's do MORE about our OWN. You know what I don't understand -- is why are so many of Obama supporters so mean spirited and ready to jump down someone's throat? I never said anything mean spirited and yet I'm still coughing from your mean spirited attack. You could have made your point just the same without the venom. Try it some time.
First off you need to do some research! Hillary Clinton has pushed through several bills in New York that have benefitted children. I firmly believe that we need a president right now that actually focuses on "Americans" WOW I know that is a radical thought.
I believe our country desperately needs change. We've had the same for the last 16 years and I feel that our country has only gone down. I can understand how some people feel comfortable with someone who has experience, but I feel that that helps Barack Obama. I think he inspires people, and we shouldn't underestimate the power of the people of our country when they are inspired to get involved and make a difference. Looking at how many people have come out to vote makes me proud and optimistic of the future of our great country. Having discussions at work about politics and issues that we're facing today, even when we disagree ,can only be healthy for us because at least we're showing interest in the topics of today. I've never experienced anything like this and it all makes me want to get even more involved and eager to help out anywhere I can to change the course of our country. I think that Hillary's experience works against her in that many of the decisions she makes may be a result of hidden agendas. She knows how to work this political game and honestly I tired of that. I'm sick of all the hidden politics that goes on. And though I'm not naive to think that Obama might not be a part of this I think its refreshing to hear his message of hope and change. I do believe he is and agent of hope and change and thats what I like so many people are desiring.
If you want a recession vote republican.....
How true that is!!!
Nice post liberalguy.......to bad none of it is the truth.......get serious please.
Bush has distoryed this country as far as I am concerned going to war, getting people's kids killed etc...so I really really hope Hilary, or Obama wins we need one of them to win, its a hard decision to choose one over the other so I really hope they both work together if one of them wins which I am sure can and will happen. I wish I could vote for them both but to me voting for one will be for both if they work together.
Comment: If you want to live in a more socialistic state - if you want handouts instead of working for a living- if you want higher taxes - then by all means vote for Clinton or Obama
The only jobs that have been created during this administration has been service jobs. People can not libe on those types of wages. Tax cuts went to the wealthy, not those who really needs it. What a mess! There has been no logic in this administration except to embarrass us.
Did you tell your daughter that we have a President who is an admitted alcoholic, has a dui and was rumored to pound back the cocaine? Wow..you must really be torn on how to explain that one.
You must be kidding wwooten. Either that, or you are entirely ignorant. You must be kidding as I do not know you.
Hillary did not run for presidency when Bill did. Bill ran for presidency... just as it is Hillary running now, and not Bill. Just because they chose partners/spouses who would support them politically AND be viable candidates individually, does not mean that one should have to sit it out. I think that kind of thinking is based out of fear. What are you so affraid of? That our country will balance its budget and a president might just ask for advice from a past president, whos opinion is respected among the world? Really, what is so wrong with that? You can be supportive of someone, bounce ideas off someone, and still let them do their job and make the final decisions.
so what..just because my husband ran for mayor, now I couldn't because I am married to him?
Amen! Thanks for the "make sense" comment!
With half truths and innuendos the smear campaign bus rolls on! Why do people who are inconsequenti exercise serious efforts to make themselves be seen/heard? I guess it is a sense of inadequacy and lack of fortitude!
Obama and Hillary are so similar, but I trust Hillary to get in the White House and fight to get things done.
Besides, I read on you tube today that voting for Obama will make your butt grow two sizes bigger.
I am a Hillary supporter -- but your joke was not funny in the least. This is a serious election and there is no room for Racism and Bigotry.
I am sure that janrose has never had an indiscretion in his/her entire life! Kudos to you Janrose, it proves that you are an innocent , pure, righteous and superbeing! The problem is that we are on earth and we will vote for someone who is human, honest and is not afraid to be one. I want my children to know that we all are one and that making a mistake doe not doom or disqualify them from living productively. The ones they should be afraid of are the ones who will cast the first stone even though they have graveyards of bones in their closets! And the beat goes on....
