I think Obama should find some new friends to surround himself with. Oprah is a talk show host -- not a political analyst - he needs people around him that care about the issues of the people in this country -- help our poor and our neglected (there are plenty of them) Ted Kennedy is "old school" Washington and NOT the best example of morality. Lastly, I'm sure if and when Senator Obama becomes the Dem Nominee the Republican attack dogs will find plenty of dirt under the rug to "swift boat" him just like they did John Kerry in 2004. The question is -- does he have the strength and stamina to stand up against it like Hillary has for over 20 years. I just have to wonder. All I know is we must elect a Dem presdient this fall and if he falls apart at the seams against the pressure of the attack dogs -- Lord Help US!!!!! We will be doomed to spend at least the next 4 years fighting a war that we have already won.

I have to agree with Cecilpau and Massie. I have a daughter too. She, at 17, if a remark was made against her I would perhaps comment but I would expect her to fight her battle. The Schuster thing was handled so very incorrectly. How much better would it have been for Chelsea to call an interview with Shuster, on air and explain what she was doing and who she is.

I see the Clintons time and time again using the "I am above all that" philosophy. I see Hillarys campaign as something to fulfill HER dreams. I picture Hillary during her stay at the White House sitting in the Oval Office late at night thinking Bill is such a jerk I would be so much better at this. I sense a rage in Hillary that is frightening.

We are in a unique historical election and I wonder why these 3 and 1/2 people left to choose from are even there. We have on one side an undeniably aged POW that holds war on his offering plate like a prized turkey at Thanksgiving. A preacher that reminds me of the days children were made to kneel on rice to show their respect for the lord. A woman surrounded by so much negative controversy and has ruthlessly waded and twisted through it to meet her objective. A man that holds peoples hearts and promises change and hope. If this is the best they can offer us then I want change and hope.

To me our president first and foremost should have one very important quality. Class. Where is the class in not allowing Chelsea to respond to Shusters remark? I want someone who is well spoken and level headed after the last 16 years of embarrassment. We are a country of many issues, discrepancy and fears. All of the candidates address the issues, some address the discrepancy BUT with the exception of Obama, all create fear.

I could go over everything, every maneuver every sentence every statement made by our candidates point by point but why? We have all been watching and listening. My opinion isn't worth more then yours. I have the same one vote you do. My vote is going for class, for hope and for change.

    ATTENTION HILLARY SUPPORTERS!!!!

Just because Sen.Obama does not walk around like a "know it all" or "encyclopedia brown" does not mean he doesnt have meat or substance or that he is not informed about the issues. I think too many Clinton supporters are buying into this hype of experience. If we want experience lets just give the election to McCain or Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld or HEY how about a 3rd term for Bush!!! these campaigns and their slogans of experience v. change suck. Because Obama's does have experience he has longer public office experience, he has experience actually taking on national important issues such as immigration, nuclear proliferation, ethics reform and he has experience actually passing bills. What about his experience outside of washington I mean sure he wasnt on the board for Wal-Mart or didnt have a cabinet job through his spouse but he was a constititutional professor, civil rights attorney and a community organizer where he made 13,000 dollars a year. He has made a name for himself (a funny name) doesnt take lobbyist or PAC money his message of transparency and pragmatism is powerful. While cynics want to pass cynicism as wisdom anyone who has checked both candidates thoroughyl will notice their is not much differences on the issues BUT there is a huge difference on the politic style.

The Obama campaign has not used the Clinton's past to further their campaign, much to his credit. If she is the nominee, the republicans will not be as kind. They had better get used to it! All the backroom deals, pragmatic moves, dishonest tricks, ect. Remember slick Willy?

Since the goal of the majority is to rid the USA of the GOP leadership as they have ruined my country - I will vote for whichever Democrat is running against McCain. Those of you who feel the same should stop tearing apart the 2 Democrats that we have vying for office and tear down McCain. Either one of the fine Democrat nominees will lead us back from the ruin that is Bush. Stop tearing down the Democrat nominees. Leave that to the GOP. We must get together for that common goal - vote the bums out!.

I agree completely. This nastiness is ridulous and embarrassing! Thank you!

  • Posted By: Eddie deRoulet @ 02/11/2008 10:41:21 AM

If she doesn't want to give interviews, that is her right..............as no one has to give an interview. I don't much concern myself with who is stumping for who, goes in one ear and out the other.

    • Posted By: Strongmann @ 02/11/2008 11:30:48 AM

I read that Chelsea is currenly available for interviews since she started campiagning for her mother, I'm very glad of that, because she's like her mom who can take the heart as long as iit's not personnally mean spirited and abusive.

  • Posted By: noamnesty @ 02/11/2008 11:00:29 AM

You better start looking at obama a little closer he has already is making deal as if he's in the white house. The obama & opreh africa deal to save the african people not the american kids.

    • Posted By: Massiel08 @ 02/11/2008 11:29:59 AM

Omg if he trys to help african children he should be impeached. I mean Bush would never do such an awful thing. He is probably going to forget about american children and take their food and homes and ship them ALL to Africa. What nerve..This man needs to be stopped!! doing charity or helping around the world in not acceptable we should continue to bomb everyone and make a name for ourselves. YEAH!

This story is about Chelsea Clinton, not Barack Obama. Yet, Hillary supporters always feel the need to denigrate Obama, to make her look good. The constant narrative of a biased media, sexism, misogyny, and plain hatred of the Clintons' is beginning to sound a lot like a perpetual whine, signifying nothing. If Chelsea is going to advocate on behalf of her mother around the country, then she should be able to effectively communicate with the press. The fact that Hillary is demanding that he be fired, doesn't speak well of her belief in the first amendment. The more this campaign continues, the more it begins to remind me of the 90's with the perpetual scandals and cries of unfairness. She is supposed to be the tough candidate who is able to withstand the fury of the Republican attack, yet here she is again on the eve of a primary "crying" about something else. If Shuster's comments can throw her campaign into such a tailspin, then what in the world will she do when the Republicans come after her and her family.

    • Posted By: timmcgivern @ 02/11/2008 3:06:23 AM

belle12: "Perpetual whine?" I think you have it backwards. The Obama camp has constantly attacked the Clintons for so-called negative campaigning when all that was happening was the Obamites were distorting benign and truthful statements made by Hillary & Bill. Hil says that LBJ was instrumental in passing the Civil Rights Act (true) and the Obamites whine that she is insulting MLK's legacy; Bill says that Obama is exaggerating his "consistent" opposition to the war (again true) and the Obamites cry that Bill has belittled Barack's entire campaign as a "fairy tale;" Bill notes that it was expected that Barack would carry the black vote and win SC as did Jesse Jackson (yet again true--even Jackson didn't find anything wrong with the statement) and the Obamites huff that Bill is ("gasp!") injecting race into the election. And what "tailspin?" Hillary responded as any responsible woman--no--any responsible PERSON should in decrying Schuster's appalling, demeaning and disgusting sexist remarks. Don't think for a minute that the Obama campaign wouldn't respond similarly, as well they should, if similar comments were directed toward Michelle or the Obama's daughters. There is no place for such vulgar discourse in civilized society or even cable news. I would hope that the Republican candidates would be equally outraged if their wives or daughters were targeted with that kind of remark.

        timmcgivern,

I don't know what campaign you've been following but the Clinton's did attack Obama's camp. Their slogan is even a bite off of his Experience V. Change. Hillary couldn't come up with something on her own? The media is a big part of this whole "fued" and bid for votes. It's not the job of the media to bring you "accurate news" their job is to sell and get your money. Based on your comments, you know very little about either candidate. Please do your research before you espouse anything about either candidate, especially if you're trying to prove a point.

In response, Obama in a book he wrote, admiited that he was an ex drug user, that was made public knowledge when he published the book. this does not equate to what The Gender biased statements made towards the lady Clintons, by supposed to be fair and balanced, non-biased. MSNBC new anchors, who are in the position of influencing public opinion, one way or the other. In my opinion thye should be fired. If that was Obama's wife being attacked in the manner, the public would demand these news casters be terminated. People are only voting for Obama because he have dazzled and mesmerized hthem with has preaching style speeches, not really on substance, because it's very much lacking in his messages. Royalty is not the issues here, but who has a stronger grasp on the issues and the most experience and qualfications to make change, unity and stirr this country in the right direction, Hillary should not be denied the right of becoming Presidnet just because her husband was, that would be fair to her either.

  • Posted By: wwooten @ 02/11/2008 10:54:32 AM

I vote for Hillary is a vote for the past. It's for a vote that makes US look like some third world country. 35 years of experience? As what? First Lady? A leader who followed Bush's war drums to Iraq?
Hillary's supporters are delusional to think anything is going to change is she is elected. We're talking about a former board member for Wal-Mart here. She's going to do whatever her big money donors tell her to.

  • Posted By: maxwellinformed @ 02/11/2008 10:47:15 AM

Looks like the "Super Delegates" are going to steal the election for Hillary anyway, so what's the point?

  • Posted By: can'tfoolme @ 02/11/2008 8:13:09 AM

A month ago I was totally undecided on who to vote for. After hearing so many negatives about Hillary and seeing for myself just how classy she and her daughter really are, to put up with all this crap it became very obvious that she really is the right person for this job. Having handled the press the way she has she can no doubt handle everything and everyone one else. Go Hillary!!! Go Chelsea!!!

    • Posted By: Time for Change @ 02/11/2008 9:13:25 AM

The way she handled the press? She seems to cry when the cameras are rolling! She's making women look weak! Some of us aren't fooled easily. You notice she never denies the fact that she takes money from lobbyist?

      • Posted By: hoffmanlb @ 02/11/2008 9:39:54 AM

Hillary is anything but weak. Only a strong person could take on the attacks so gracefully; exactly what's needed to run this country. I am also glad she has shown a bit of her softer, human side. All this negative fuss about Chelsea is also ridiculous - any smart candidate would encourage a bright, poised and willing adult daughter (or son) to campaign for them. I too was originally undecided. But after seeing everything, I vote for experience - not because I'm a woman or black - because this country needs an experienced leader.

        • Posted By: Massiel08 @ 02/11/2008 10:43:56 AM

I agree this country needs an experienced leader, We should encourage Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld or even request George Bush for a 3rd term..yeah experience that's what counts. PLEASE first of all Clintonians dont even know how little experience Mrs.Clinton has. They buy into this "I know it all" but she has less public office experience than Barack. He has bills signed into law as an "unexperienced leader" that is more than Mrs. Clinton. His work in his few years in the senate are outstanding, while Mrs.Clinton just sat around and didnt take on any issues like immigration, nuclear proliferation, ethics reform which obama did. All she has really done is passing extended healthcare for veterans Like passing healthcare for reserved military men and women is a tough bill. Hillary is a very capable woman and I dont mean to come on as rude but we as voters need to look beyond their slogan. Experience V. Change what does that mean exactly? the experience is having been in Washington longer , fighting the republicans, and being part of the Clinton brand name for decades. The change is Not taking lobbyist or PAC money, enlisting the american people, bringing positivity to politics, demanding trasparency from goverment and most importantly reaching across the isle and forgeting about ideology and work on common ground.

  • Posted By: Strongmann @ 02/11/2008 10:39:51 AM

I'm so glad Chelsea is making such a positive impact on her mother's Presidentilal bid to the White House, she's a breath of fresh air as well, because recntly their has been negative comments made towards her and her parents by MSNBC new Anchors that was very gender-biased and down right mean, but Chelsea is a champion and workhorse with thhick skin , she is able to take the heat just like her mom and dad she takes a licking and keeps on ticking, She has substance to her messages, as oppose to Obama who just speaks chants, one-liners and poetic phrases like an Holiness or Baptist Preacher, getting people all emotional and excited to vote for him on Inspiration, Hope, and Change, but not discussing his related experiences, indepth knowledge and describtion of the issues that negatively affect this country. He's also failing to fully explain in laymen's terms how he's going to tackle and fix America's ills starting on Day One of his Presidency, Hillary is; with Chelisa's and Bill 's assistance.

  • Posted By: lmcchesn @ 02/11/2008 9:43:55 AM

You must be joking. Obama can't preach without some other well known supporter next to him, like kennedy (LOL) or get the big oprah ticket mouth out there when you need a punch. HUSSEIN you cant get oprah to buy this office for you, sorry. Meanwhile, Hillary has the strength and wisdom to actally answer the tough questions herself, holding discussions and meetings all by herself, imagine that. I'd much rather have my husband and daughter in my corner, rather than some big fat liar of a senator or celeb that flashes all her money - please. The turth will prevail , America will see through the dream, hope and change rheutoric and vote HILLARY - you can bank on that.

    • Posted By: jaymiller @ 02/11/2008 10:33:07 AM

Answering tough questions? How about her vote on the war in Iraq? Hillary's biggest problem is that she is so concerned about the perception of weakness (rightfully or not) that she can't admit that she made a mistake.

    • Posted By: Massiel08 @ 02/11/2008 10:26:53 AM

just because obama doesnt walk around like Hillary "encyclopedia brown" or a "know it all" does that makeObama less informed than Clinton? I think you are buying into the Clinton hype or the Clinton brand name. Obama and Clinton dont disagree on the issues but Obama is a strong self made man. For all the experience in the world and knowledge Mrs.Clinton could not ask any real tough question on Iraq and up until New Hampshire she found her voice. what is that about?

  • Posted By: 013150chris @ 02/11/2008 9:48:29 AM

I'd like to ask Shaesmith if Obama's wife is campaigning for him; it is not unheard of for family members to campaign --do you have anything else intelligent to comment on regarding Hillary Clinton or is that all you could think of. milw.chris

    • Posted By: jaymiller @ 02/11/2008 10:27:00 AM

If Chelsea is stumping for her mother, she should be taking interviews as well, as Michelle does. The issue is not that she is campaigning for her mother, the issue is that the Clinton campaign wants to have it both ways - reap all the benefits of her stumping for her mother while at the same time avoiding all the difficult scenarios. She's 27 years old - if she's calling superdelegates on behalf of her mother, the press has every right to ask her questions regarding that activity.

  • Posted By: LLibby @ 02/11/2008 9:18:57 AM

chelsea is campaigning for a white house wedding. What ever happen to free speech, the reporter voice his opinion and he get's suspended. It's not like she is a kid she is 27 years old.

    • Posted By: kiki1001 @ 02/11/2008 10:20:06 AM

The point is that he used the words "pimped out." I'd suspend him no matter who he was talking about for bringing down the quality of the discussion and using such crass and, frankly, misogynistic language. Seems MSNBC could use a few more "intellectuals" speaking for them.

  • Posted By: peace and love @ 02/11/2008 9:47:01 AM

I agree that HIllary is the way to go. However, the primary goal for our party is to get into The White House and rid of the GOP who has lied and chipped away freedoms during the past - not to mention invading a country. I will vote for the Democrat who is running against McCain. He is just another Bush lemming who will continue this country on the wrong path - the Bush Path. Vote Democrat.
