How to Train a Husband

I have been married for over 17-years...first-and-only marriage for us both. We are both educated professionals with our own identifications and personalities. This tripe would have stopped it short of the 1-year mark, if we had done this to each other...of course, if you marry someone with the IQ of fido, then I guess this is what it takes. Says a lot for her marriage...just don't do this to someone you qualify as an intelligent human being...the regret will cost more than the cover-price of this tabloid instruction manual.

This is pure, poppycock, bull sheet; foisted on males by the sexist, marginalized feminist. Get used to it. This is still a man's world. It always was and will remain that way until God's KIngdom comes.

I find this article offensive at so many different levels. I wounder how she would feel if someone wrote an article about how to train a wife, I am sure heads would role even for suggesting such a title. The truth is no body is trained to do any thing but one changes for the people you love. Its unbelievable the kind of things that get published these days.

well if every married woman felt the way she did then maybe instead of marring a man they should marry dogs. if in my 15 years of marriage i felt i needed to train my husband then i hope for his sake we seperate because to belittle him in such a way would draw questions to our marriage and how in time it has changed ...sorry i got to agree with the men on this one if you wanted a dog why did you marry a man ? it seems to me you really need to look closer at yourself to see if you as a woman need to change before treating any person ie:your husband as an animal .you make it seem as if all men should bow down to you and what your willing to allow them to have .please give me a break i would hope for your sake your husband grew balls and divorced your ass

My wife tried many times to "train' me and I just laughed in her face many times. I told her clear, "If my mother could not get me to do that, don't expect you or any other bratt to be able." Of course they keep trying but those books only work on wimps. It should be called "Marry a wimp so you can train him". I forsee a lawsuit that resulted a on wife lossing her man to another because of that book, later.

My Husband is neat freak and thinks his way is the right way, How do you train that?

Wow I wish my wife would treat me like the dog and give me chips and salsa everytime she wanted me off her azz for dinner not being ready till 8pm...... Clearly this chick is all about feminizing the american male... Actually, iI take it the fish means sex. Dr. Phil fielded complaints from men about not enough sex in their marriage. Dr Phil asked the women what it would take for them to 'be more interestd in sex'. If my husband helped me more around the house I would definitely feel more inclined was the general response. Follow-up found that it took about a month for the 'reward system' to develop.. It lasted for about 2 months and then the lackanukki redeveloped. Turns out if she isn't interested, she isn't. Period. Discovery Channel did a 4 part series on the same thing. Women admitted on camera that once the kids came along, they really 'had no use for men except to provide money and a place to live. Sex was farthest from their mind.
Now this woman comes along and tells you to treat your husband 'like a dog'. We're not stupid. We know when to play along, and when to blow it off. If it's coming up on a week or so for a roll in the hay, the socks get picked up, the dishwasher gets loaded. The day after, undies and socks are on the floor again....even more so if we think we're being manipulated.
As far as the 'chips and salsa' trick, we're wise. We know she's cooking something we probably won't like, so we're loading up on chips & beer.
As for the 'don't take it personally', women DO take it persoanlly. They think everything you do - or don't do - is a direct affront to your relationship! with them.
I agree with the other posts; she doesn't want a husband, she wants a dog.
Hey, even better, get a divorce and just hire a man when you want him!

This book is truly appalling. If a man wrote a book, "How to tame your wife" or "How to manipulate your wife to get her to do what you want" women all over America would be saying how the author is a manipulative pig.

However, when the shoe is on the other foot, American society is supposed to just chuckle it off as something written by a crazy author. The only problem is, that many women will follow this advice.

Smarter men will catch on & will resent being manipulated. In some cases, it will be at the cost of the marriage.

Amy, I hope your husband appreciates how you lovingly manipulate him to get him to do what you want. Men aren't stupid. He might take being manipulated out on you in other ways. Make sure your manipulation doens't lead you both to divorce court.

What ever happened to good ol' fashioned, "Hey hun, could ya pick your socks up please?" I mean seriously, why is it that society is hellbent on castrating men? Ladies, we will never have "real men" if you treat them like they are stupid animals, (no offence little critters). Get off your high horse Sutherland, I am sure your husband finds you just as annoying, guess what? He wishes you wore lingerie more often, had a bubbly fun personality and let him "do it" with the lights ON, and also probably wishes you would stop thinking of him as a dumb guy and notice when he does sexy, manly, guy, things. Men need to be men, there are so few things men get to call their own anymore, what the hell is wrong with that? Because of women like you, not only do men not know if they should open my door or pull my chair anymore but now they can't trust us either, way to go team!

This is absolutley dumb-founding. A guy does not need to be trained he needs a women to say what she means and not try to hint things out. And like Charlie said if we had a book it would be all kinds of controversy surrounding it. I mean come on ladies you have to understand that is just a sexist than if we had that book.
