If HE is a DOG, what does that make HER?
hey can i train my wife like this? i mean, while we're at it.
seriously though, if an article about women came out like this, whoever wrote it would have their head taken off by a feminist with roid rage.
If a man write this abotu a slob of a wife, he woudl be considered controling and abusive. Personally, I'll still with "The Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" by Dr. Laura.

I'm with charlie on this. I'm a guy and if I wrote this article my email would be flooded with hate mail and "your sexist" comments. Get real people. Its common sense to do your part. People shouldn't be trained.
YEA!!!! What he said!!!!!!!

Whats next, a leash? GIve me a break. A marriage built on manipulation......Amy doesn't want a husband, she wants a dog.
This article is pure garbage, an insult to relationships in general and sexual politics in the worse way. I also suspect it is a clever marketing ploy to get attention.
first.................AS............IF??????????
If I said I had 5 ways to "train my wife like an animal" I would be called a sexist pig. I guess since a woman wrote this article that makes it ok. What happened to a realtionship being 50/50?
FIRST..............AS IF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
train us like a f***ing dog!!! and women say we are the insensitive pricks
This article is pure garbage and sexual politics in the worse way imaginable.
Excuse me, but I think I'm going to be sick. I'm 18 years old. I live with my boyfriend of 5 years. I work in a temp agency as a dispatcher. I make 9 dollars an hour. He, however, works at a restaurant making 7 dollars an hour. I get up every day at 6:30am to go to work for 8 hours. He gets up at 11 to go to work for maybe 3. I make more money and I do way more because when I'm done working, I'll go to the restaurant and help him close. I do the grocery shopping and cooking and cleaning. He takes care of the litter box. What is with the stigma that women do nothing but sit around and spend their husbands money? Frankly, I'm sick of it. After a typical day like that, I'll come home, fix dinner, shower, and go to bed. He's wonderful to me, but I think I deserve a break, too sometimes. Marly and realityhurts, eat it.
You will deserve a break when you gain enough maturity to realize that you are living with a lazy bum who is exploiting you. Until you figure that out, you will be that useless jerk's lapdog. Wake up honey and smell the puppy chow!
Your 18 years old. You are a little kid who has learned much about life yet. Don't act like you have been there and done that. You have a lot of growing up to do. And at 18 you shouldn't be llving with your boyfriend. You'll end up breaking up anyway. At 18 you should be going to school trying to better your young life. You shouldn't be living with a man at 18. You shouldn't even be thinking about things like this.
I hope you break up with your boyfriend because unless you are overexagerating about how much you do and how little he does, he sounds like a lazy worthless loser who totally takes advantage of you. When do you find time to enjoy life?
Actually, I disagree with the Newsweek article's editorial slant (turning it into "how to train a HUSBAND"), but I am commenting on the book, not the article. Even this article notes that the author "claims that animal-training techniques work on both genders". That has been my point in every comment I have made here. I am not at all a sexist. And I have said NOTHING sexist. All I have said is that positive reinforcement works on both men and women, at home and in the work place.
You are transposing positive reinforcement over the term animal training. You do not back-pedal in the MSN.Com article about you and your book. Your motive and intent is very transparent in that piece, and it is difficult for readers to post reactions on that site.
Me & my book? Didn't write it, just saying that people need to relax and not immediately turn this into a battle of the sexes. This was one person's experience! She is not male-bashing. She is not saying her husband is weak or a dog. She is simply saying that animal training works on animals (humans ARE animals after all!). The fact that she uses "animal training" to illustrate "positive reinforcement" is just a clever way to sell books.
"Humans are animals after all." I personally own three dogs, two cats and two little boys I bought in Haiti. Oh sorry! Does that upset anyone? I don't see why it should. What's wrong with owning dogs? They are just animals, after all. One of my little boys from Haiti is very sick though and he can't work as much as I would like. I will probably have him put down

tell this to Larry Summers. The fact is that people can tell when an insult is meant even when on try to do a few subtle things to corver thier but like mentioning in passting, oh it works for both gender. The fact is that tone could never have made it past the editorial board if you simply reverse the gender and kept to the stereotypes. Some poeple that tells us to chill think we don't understand when things are meant as an insult, but they forget that there is a great chance we once thought like them. 10 years ago I wouuld have said chill, but today I say enough is enough. Enough witht he male bashing, and no making it suble does not work, because it is obvious that these things can only be told if the man are put down and after years of if, I'm tired it
You hit the nail on the head, prisoner. It's an insult; you can infer from the tone, which wasn;t lost on the editors who wrote the synopsis of the book.
Why do people insist on viewing themselve as being so much higher than OTHER animals (yes, humans are animals too!) that they view the idea of utilizing the basic method of positive reinforcment as something degrading. Just because humans utilize this method on other creatures such as dogs or dolphins doesn't make it unworthy for use on other humans. I reward my dog when she sits on command and I thank my spouse for running the vacuum; both actions tend to be repeated more often with positive reinforcement. Animals are animals, and the results don't lie, regardless of the species.
So humans are just animals? Interesting concept. So this means that it is okay to own other human beings to do work for me? Or kill them if they prove to be a nuisance? Or eat them? Sorry, do those ideas upset you? We own animals, we kill them if they are causing us inconvenience, we eat them for food. If human beings are just another animal, then what is to prevent us from using other human beings in such ways? Morality? Animals have no morality. Note well that if human beings are animals, then you too are just another animal.
Sometimes my wife will not obey. She knows she will be restrained and taken from the rear repeatedly until she begs for mercy, if her attitude is not correct.
Once again subdued and properly submissive, I let her sleep in my bed, gently sucking my manhood throughout the night. In the morning, blindfolded and restrained, she kisses my feet before I leave for work, this after making me breakfast and servicing me underneath the table as I eat.
She makes an excellent Pet.
I train my wife this way. When I release her from her restraints in the morning (only after servicing me properly and thanking me for my semen), then she is allowed to eat briefly.
After that I take her back to her chamber and she is lightly flagellated before I take her from the rear. If she pleases me, I will let her taste me again. She is obedient and submissive, just like a woman should be.
