John McCain was the only person who went to V.N and suffered? We have made him Senators, forgiven his scary fits of rage, ignored his Democratic Leanings while miling the Republican Party for honor and sympathy for his War Record. His second wife is rich, when he left his first family, the USA taxpayer took care of them, and now he gets to be Presidet because he was POW and his shoulder was broken? My love died when his Kidneys rotted away, and he had to endure long waits at VA hosptials to get care..would McCain care to swap his long life for his...and when have we paid McCain enough?

The GOP is not in chaos, we are simply holding those who don???t represent us accountable as much as possible.

We want corrupt individuals such as McCain out of the GOP. If this means we burn down our own house that that will be the case and we will rebuild it the way we want it.

It is high time we stop our representatives that don???t actually represent us by their actions.

    Good Reddens Juan McCook.

So typical. When the GOP "leadership" starts talking about the talk show hosts, their failure to get it right reveals that they truly don't know what they're talking about. Their conversations with Dr. Land result in Dr. Land making comments about Rush Limbaugh in which he refers to Rush as "the Great One". Dr. Land apparently doesn't know that "the Great One" is Mark Levin. (And I don't listen to Mark Levin). When the GOP leadership finally starts caring about what the conservative base thinks, they would do better to talk to (instead of "at" as someone snarkily characterizes Rush's program...) The present characteristics of their comments reminds me of the nasty attacks on the Bible by people who have, so obviously never actually read the Bible. Not very convincing. And, digressing, I have to acknowledge that I am SO glad that the term "snarky" has been developed! Wow! It covers a variety of things for which I simply cannot imagine pre-existing phrases working! Wonder where it started? Anyway....sign me as a conversative who really isn't available to be courted by anybody, whether it's the RNC or JMc. Anybody knows that platitudes and pleas AFTER the argument actually mean that I won the argument.....so why would I respond to courting now?

You people kill me. I wish you could see yourselves, but alias, this is the American way; to hold up the Devil in our ranks and call them Gods, then go in search of a replacement when they show their true colors. Bush
was a God with a ton of capital to spend. Now look at you. You'll never learn. That's so sad. (I hope my language is simple enough to understand, because the problem with right vs left politics is also simple. We pick the wrong Gods.

Here we go again, and again, and again. Our country needs radical changes, but what is the GOP doing - arguing about theology - who is and who is not. It reminds me of the ancient debates among Communists - namely who is and who is a "maverick" Marxist and who is a true Marxist-Leninist. Did it really matter? Both Marx and Lenin are dead, the world they lived in is gone. Yet every decision in the late great USSR revolved around the embalmed corpse in the glass case - an entire empire devoted to corpse worship. That form of necrophilia is what really destroyed the USSR - not Reagan's famous tear-down-the-wall speech. (By 1986, almost everyone in the USSR - except the truly brain dead - recognized that the jig was up.) The GOP is so blinded by its own self-righteousness that they cannot see parallels between themselves and the ideology they so love to hate. In fact, both Communism and Capitalism involved a godless worship of materialism; both involve rule by an insulated wealthy elite; and both slavishly follow dictates of the past in a world where the only constant is change. McCain is really a modern day Brezhnev and if we turn our country over to the GOP, we will suffer the same fate as the USSR

"We will suffer the same fate as the USSR."

And that would be a bad thing...why? We are as corrupt, as decadent, and as immoral as the old USSR ever hoped to be.

We have seen communism's excesses - sloth and envy. We have seen capitalism's excesses - greed and gluttony.

How about we just get back to good, old democracy - 3 balanced divisions of government, all folks created equal, and separation of church and state?

I believe that a part of the present hysteria of some right-wing leaders, is that they sense they are loosing relevance.
McCain is redefining what it means to be a conservative and a Republican. Afterall, who are all those folks that are voting for him? They had been there for a while, a silent majority of moderate conservatives, except they are not used to shouting through a loudspeaker, like some radio hosts do.

The angry right? Rush makes fun of liberals all the time, and they give him plenty of material. Angry would be wishing someone you disagree with politically DEAD, as Bill Maher did friday night on his HBO program, equating an issue Rush had in his personal life with painkillers to the rampant abuse of Heath Ledger, and saying it was too bad that Rush wasn"t the one who died. Wow, that is funny. What a comedian! Get your writers back, lame ass.I won't hold my breath waiting for your articles on the "angry left." Not that you are not aware of them, since all of your columnists work daily with the angry left on their low rated, pro Obama
network...MSNBC. Did Ann Coulter call Chelsea Clinton a whore?

    • Posted By: Braes @ 02/10/2008 3:31:22 AM

No, this level of filth began when John Gibson of Fox repeatedly mocked Ledgers death. That opened the rhetorical door, no matter how swiftly most wished it closed. Coulter? Wouldn't know nor possibly could count how many vile and offensive things she has said about whom. That is just an impossible errand.
Now, if a black kid in the 8th ward went script shopping lke Rush, my Jindal supporter, where in Angola would he be today? Don't tell me Rush didn't get a sweet deal from the corrupt Florida legal system.
Besides, I don't want Rush dead, the longer he spews, the more D's I register. Maher is just exasperated.

I don't need to read further the contents of this article to decide, after following every single debate and appearance by all candidates, that in my mind McCain doesn't even exist as a candidate because I find it difficult to believe that he is a uniter but rather a divider. His debate capability is as shallow as Hillary's, without substance and genuinity, and anyone voting for either of them would be hastening further the demise of the good ole USA - on solid footing and worldly its reputation was as positive as positive could be when Regan was in office - he made people feel important and they improved themselves as a result of it.

I visualize two upstanding candidates, who have the inteligence, wisdom and wherewithall to debate each other with substance, sincerity, resolutions, stamina and endurance - and with humor - to be candidates representing each party that will do, and accomplish, what they say they will do to improve and retain the greatness of this nation as it should should - never should have those attributes been infringed. I hope that the two un-mentioned candidates, Huckabee (R) and Obama (D) are the only two remaining candidates awaiting for us to cast our vote. McCain should drop out and let these two intelligent candidates be our choices. Don't miss this opportunity to vote, GET OUT AND VOTE - VOTE - VOTE! (JAC)

I for one am glad those on the fringes are losing influence and credibility, and their next generation clones like Jonah Goldberg diving into the same divisive stuff.

This article, especially the last paragraphs, drives to the core of politics: money, influence and raw power. Good!

Nut jobs like Coulter and Limbaugh make lots of money when they rant and rail against some like McCain. They have no inside track or divine right to declare who is really conservative as they talk only about issues related to money and taxes, never the core issues of Pro-Life, Pro-Second Amendment, Pro-National Security, Pro-Defense, Pro-Military, and Pro-Appointment of Constitutional Judges.

No, idiots like Coulter and Limbaugh are only stupid enough to choose 4 years of Democratic damage to our nation over victory.

The relevance of this article is difficult to defend because it authors understand neither the conservative movement nor what currently motivates conservatives to defend the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. It is framed from a liberal perspective attempting to understand conservative grass roots repulsion for the policies endorsed by John McCain.

Right wing radio does have its benefits to society because they make politics entertaining. It helps alleviate the rational ignorance problem. That is, people have little incentive to investigate politics. The entertainment element gets people involved.

To make it interesting, the talk show host often puts forth misleading facts and illogical logic. Thus, the danger is that unweary listeners may get mislead.

The important thing is for the publc to access the credibility of the talk radio host. Remember, many of the hosts have little formal higher education. They are also not experts in any field such as economics, foreign affairs, etc.

For a while, many people were giving the talk show host unwarranted credibility. Lately it appears that their credibility is lowered to an appropriate level. This is encoraging and shows that our public is sophisticated.

McCain comes across as old, irasicable and condescending. He has hated felt only contempt for the conservative wing of the Republican party, and has delighted in tweaking it at every opportunity. He will go right back to hating them as soon as the election is over - one way or another. If, when the Republicans wer in charge of the Senate he would essentally caucus on the Democratic side on half the issues, then what is he going to do as President with a Democratic congress? The Democrats will get less done with a Democrat president than they would have with McCain in charge.
