It doesn't matter if you neocons unite behind McCain or not. Nothing short of a miracle will keep the GOP in the White House come November anyway. National polls for months have shown that any Republicon matched against any Democrat loses the general election anyway. And with a recession, a never-ending war in Iraq (which will be 5 1/2 years old in Nov.), combined with our nation's desire for change after 8 years of total incompetence by Bush, there is NO WAY that you hold on to the White House. Be united as a party or be divided. The GOP will lose either way.

Under normal circumstances, I would agree with you. We had the same situation in 1972. We had an unpopular war. The economy was sliding big time. People were fed up. The voters were chanting " Anyone but Nixon". The Democrats could have walked into the White House with a landslde victory. But instead, they nominated a polarizing, far-left guy name George McGovern, and the landslde went the other way. I see history repeating itself. Obama and Hillary may do well with the Democrat base in the primaries, but they will get slaughtered in the general election. Like it or not, Americans are not ready to elect a black or a woman President. The Dems are blowing a golden opportunity, just as they did in 1972.

Dude, keep dreaming. Those polls are heavily distorted by the POLITICAL CORRECTNESS factor. Not even repubs are gonna admit racism when polled, not in large numbers anyway. But come election time, and they stand in that booth, they'll all pick the white guy anyway. First, they're waiting to see if the Dems self-destruct by either too nasty mudslinging or choosing Hillary, and then they'll let racism do it's ugly work. Helped by more than few race baitng ads of course. Expect a barrage of "I love Barack because he's so wellspoken" type of ads. They're gonna kill him with kindness, while they KEEP bringing it up that he's a BLACK man. They might have barrage of movies with negative black roles programmed around election day. Remember what they did to Harold Ford Jr. and that was even the RNC!! Remember what they did to even ... McCain himself! What will the swiftboaters of 2008 do to a black man then? It will be a very interesting day for mass manipulation, Political Science scholars are gonna have a field day.
Of course, the talkshow hosts are gonna be more explicit.
It's actually a nobrainer that mccains gonna win it.

The pendulum swings; Rush , Ann, Dr. Laura, and all the other irrelevent wingnuts will be left to twist in the wind. That whole bunch of windbags are just so pointless and so tired. It's kinda fun to watch them rant and rave and huff and puff. Take another pill, Rush. Slide on down into that peaceful comma of third rate celebrity. Nobody will even remember your name if a few more years.

And, you must be a New England Patriots fan. LOL

  • Posted By: Arjuna9 @ 02/14/2008 12:57:57 PM

Why you people in the media give disgusting personalities like Ann Coulter any media coverage from which to spew her venom is absolutely beyond my understanding. The woman is a vile and poisonous wart on the face of America. And so is Rush. I will be voting for Obama, but the one great thing I do see about McCain is that perhaps he is helping to pull the Republican party out of the hands of the right wing hypocrite lunatics.

It's people like you who are killing McCain's chances for the White House. Maybe that is your intent. You, the New York Times, Bill Press and every liberal in the world are endorsing McCain. It wouldn't look very good for Obama or Hillary if Pat Robertson had endorsed them, would it? Bill Press? Are you kidding me? One must be an ultra lib to gain the support of a Bill Press.

if the situation was reverse, some rightwing gun nut would've already gunned a theoretical leftwing coulter down like a dog. Good thing liberals are more civilised than that ...

      • Posted By: Tracker500 @ 02/15/2008 9:07:16 AM

I believe Cho was a liberal. Did you listen to his words in his pre-massacre video? It was all about the snoopy, bad rich people, your typical liberal class envy mantra.. So much for civilized liberals.

  • Posted By: QuillMoreTeKKsans @ 02/14/2008 9:45:01 PM

i bet coulter isn't really that succesful, it's prolly some rich rightwing nut buying up all her books so as to make her SEEM succesful, But yes, Republicans have allowed themselves to be hijacked by these politics of hate and selfrighteousness. cause they are like hamburgers, you know they're not good for you.but they taste nice so you eat more and more.

Before anyone calls me a ditto head, I have been way ahead of Limbaugh on this matter. I have sworn a long time ago that I would never ever support McCain for any national office. He has been one against simple civil liberties such as his attempts at wiping out smoking. I don't smoke, but is it really the function of government to tell someone they can't or try to destroy the tobacco companies, which makes a legal product? Then, there's the steroid thing. More importantly, his legislative agenda has been one with the Democrats. Rarely, was he an ally of the conservatives. He is anti-second Amendment. He helped the Democrats in blocking Bush judicial nominees. He voted against tax cuts, saying it favors the rich, words normally spoken by liberal Democrats. And finally, the top issue where he told conservatives to go to hell was the illegal immigration amnesty bill that he co-sponsored with none other than Ted Kennedy. Yeah, I'll vote Obama or Hillary before I'll ever vote for this guy.

My challenge to Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter is can either of you openly state what kind of America you would like to live in? And what kind of President do you believe displays the principals that most reflect who you are as an American citizen and a citizen of the world.

Can either of you try to look into the Mirror of Dr. Ron Paul a true constitutionalist and Republican to see if he upholds the values and principals you seem to be searching for.

RUSH LIMBALLS IS A CRAKHEAD WITH A RADIO SHOW. HE IS NOT THE RIGHT.
THE RIGHT IS THE pARTY OF BUSH. CApITALISTS WHO ARE ALIGHNED WITH THE saudi'S AND OTHER FAMILIES AROUND THE WORLD.. THEY OWN THE WORLD CApITAL AND INVEST HEAILY IN INSURANCE AND DRUG COMpANIES. THIS IS A FACT.

BUSH SUppORTS McCain and so does his brother JEB
IT IS OVER FOR RUSH LIMBALLS ANND COULTIER AND THE OTHER SUICIDE VOTERS FROM THE RIGHT WING. THESE RADIO HOSTS ARE DEALING WITH AN INTELLIGENT ELECTORATE THIS TIME AROUND. THEY ARE OF NO USE TO THE RIGHT WING ESTABLISMENTS AND HAVE BEEN DISMISSED AS DRUG ADDICTS IN REHAB.
CONSERVATIVE RADIO HAS REACHED IT"S peak. NO ONE WANTS TO SACRIFICE ANYMORE AMERICAN LIVES IN IRAQ. THEY NEED TO SEND RUSH AND ANN TO IRAQ. BECAUSE THEY ARE A BIG REASON OBAMA IS DOING SO WELL.
EVERY STATISTIC AND poll INDICATE THAT OBAMA MIGHT TAKE twenty five per cent of the REpublican vote.
AND McCAIN WILL gain fifteen per cent of the HILLARY VOTE.
OBAMA IS ON HIS WAY TO VICTORY.

A few months ago she declared on TV that Jews need "to be perfected," and suggested that America would be better off if it were all Christian. Ann Coulter

Could someone on the right side of the political spectrum, explain what this means. She can't be the only one who believes that. Does it sound a bit like Hitler? Compassionate Conservative? Hootarama

  • Posted By: peace and love @ 02/15/2008 5:37:02 AM

Will the dittoheads follow his lead? This is a rhetorical question as the ditto heads don't THINK, they are lemmings and will do whatever this drug addict tells them to do. We on the Democrat side welcome the support of all the big babies of the GOP. And please, continue the public tantrum. It's very entertaining.

No tough minded American, who are the fighters and builders of the epic American Dream - a work in progress from our Declaration of Independence to the current struggle, can ever take seriously the shrill catterwailing of Coulter, the hog calling McCartheysque grunts and squeals of Limbaugh. The assortment of lemmings that take their opinions seriously, in a year of hope and glory, with our first women and first black breaking centuries old taboos to rise against the very neanderthal thinking,-- surging forth with positive and heroic messages of hope, that all Americans can aspire to the mountaintop, not wallowing in the right wing swamp , but bursting forth with epic vigor, leaving the knuckledraggers beaten and breathing the last ugly gasps of intolerance .There is no time to waste with these hyenas and their rotten stinking message and vile gossip, as their defense of the horrific waste of life and treasure in the Iraq War, is hideous , and they are rapidly seeing the end of their time, and the beginning of the fresh clean and invigorating era of progressive American values again. Honor, respect and dedication to the original stirring values, that has inspired the earth to look to us, as an eternal beacon of fairness and truth - the majestic greatness will return by years end, and the squalid and dishonest will crawl back into their swamps, as the light of truth is shining and the years of ugly darkness are finished. We see now what happens if you don't fall in to lock-step with the Far Right. They try to destroy you. They just will not accept that MOST Americans are not idealogues. America is NOT Red or Blue. America is Purple. You CAN be for lower taxes and stem-cell research. I laugh at the notion that conservatives "represent most of America." They don't even represent most Republicans.

    Hillary/Obama positions:
    1. Surrender Iraq to the terrorists,
    2. Raise taxes,
    3. Keep the borders open to illegal immigrants (including possible terrorists),
    4. Force people to use government-run healthcare, and 5. Prevent people under 35 from ever getting Social Security benefits (even though they pay for it)

    McCain/Huckabee positions:
    1. Win in Iraq,
    2. Lower taxes,
    3. Protect Americans by securing the border,
    4. Allow people to choose their healthcare provider,
    5. Guarantee that people who pay into Social Security will one day be eligible for benefits

There is a clear difference here. Vote with these facts in mind.

    • Posted By: psalinas @ 02/14/2008 11:34:03 AM

I have not heard that McCain is going to secure the border, When did he change his position.

    • Posted By: griffin1 @ 02/13/2008 10:25:29 PM

jack3213 your assessment is way off let me educate you a lil bit- Bringing our troops home is not surrending to terrorists they were there before we invading and will be there when we leave. How much longer will we allow our soilders to die. We can still protect our country if we end this war. secondly the democrats dont want to raise taxes you are all wrong, the republicans are in office now look at our economy can you see what's going on. Third I have heard all candiates state that they will protect our borders and they have voted for this bill to back this up. The borders are barely protected now and who is in office yeah Bush. Fourth, Democrats are trying to get alll children health care- maybe your rich and can care less about the lower and middle class sounds like the republican way to me. and last the way we are going now there will be no social security available dont put this on the democratic candidates I believe change is coming and I will stand strong with my voice until you people get some common sense

    • Posted By: piinalu @ 02/12/2008 9:55:51 AM

This is a compelling and concise post, but its flaws are not with what was said but what was left unsaid. (With the one exception of the use of the word "surrender" - it over simplifies the situation - which is an unfortunate trait of spokespeople for both sides in this discussion).

What about out-of-control spending? The Republicans can no longer claim the mantle of fiscal responsibility after the last seven years. No one can for that matter.

What about the corporate give-way that is the prescription drug benefit? That's going to bankrupt us before Social Security will.

What about Iraq? The military element was supposed to give "breathing room" to develop a political solution. While we have to take responsibility for breaking a country, don't we deserve leadership that gets that this isn't only about the military element anymore. It's about the civilian rule of law. The question isn't about winning the war. We already did that. We have elect leaders that can win the peace and create a functioning government. The troublesome point here is a false choice between surrender and victory when defined only in military terms. Unfortunately, in this case both sides are wrong. No one wants to "lose" but no one in their right mind wants to turn this mess into an ongoing occupation, either.

One more thing McCain is a cancer to the Republican party.

    • Posted By: Ayndee @ 02/13/2008 6:00:59 PM

No, actually the cancer has been long diagonsed..It is the unbending, "My way, or the highway" hardcore far right. It's time to cut the cancer out of the Republican Party. We are NOT better off than we were 8 years ago. Far-righties, in the words of DiNiro, "you had your chance, but YOU BLEW IT"

      • Posted By: psalinas @ 02/14/2008 11:13:11 AM

I think I remember the Democrats giving us all this pie in the sky last election "when we get control of the Senate and House we will make change" What exactly have they done except stand in the way and let America fall further in the red so as to win the Presidental election. Yea, that is realing making me want to vote Democrat.

They are about to fall off that bandwagon they jumped on because the UberConservative is a thing of the past. They're clinging as hard as they can by yelling as loudly as possible and making grotesquely off base remarks to incite people's ire. In other words, it's business as usual but not it's so much louder because they know they're losing their influence on a large number of people. No one listening means no power & no money.

Republican conservatives just can???t seem to accept the will of the American voter. Talk radio hosts and Fox News commentators seem to be in shell shock about McCain???s success. What they fail to see is that they are the problem and we can see through them. While their theatrics are good entertainment, we are tired of their hate-filled rhetoric, tirades, and lies. The traditional heart of the Republican Party is returning to its roots because we see through these neocons. We know of their Iran-Contra propaganda and untruths about Whitewater and the Clintons.

Two examples of their favorite rantings come to mind: homosexuals and abortion. In 2008, most Americans have a gay family member, coworker, neighbor, or friend. We realize that gays don???t want ???special rights,??? just the rights afforded them under the U.S. Constitution. I???m not even going to discuss gay marriage here, because straight people have done enough to make a joke of this sacred institution. No person I know would ever be in favor of abortion, but it is legal and the right of the mother. Why must the right-wingers decide that we are not intelligent and need them to decide our opinions on these issues?

Limbaugh, Coulter, Ingraham, and Hannity and their like have enjoyed a ride, but now we see though their vile. Their opinions are yesterday???s news and we are tired of them. Perhaps they should form their own party, because they are no longer welcome in the GOP. The Republican voters decided that at the polls.
