I deeply resent this Limbo Taliban slowly poisoning the masses like Joseph Goebbels did in the thirties of Germany. They must be thoroughly disowned, their radio shows shunned and boycotted. They are NOT conservatives at all. they are fascists, that our fathers and tom grandfathers generation laid down their lives and souls at Omaha, spilling their life's blood so that we could have a society free from Naziism ever taking over here. McCain is like Winston Churchill, and instead of Hitler being way over there in Germany, he is now here in America. He is here in Romney and his pandering to these very fascists, after ripping off the people through leveraged buyouts by Bain Capital, tax free in the Cayman Islands. Hitler is right here in Ann Coulter, even the hair fits the Nazi look! Hitler is right here in the Neocons that conspired with Cheney that got us into this disastrous war that has bankrupted the country. Hitler is here in Hagee and all the intolerant bigots that call themselves Christians but are not, and who have linked up with the biggest legislative crooks in modern history - abramoff and tom delay andd ralph reed. And because we have a careeristr media, these crooks and liars and hypocrites are flattered instead of scorned, and America has become corrupted and odious to civilized people everywhere. We never say that we are fallen and sinful - that's the problem - everyone blames someone else, and its usually the ones who challenge the avarice of filthy lucre. Money.....that's right, follow the money as whole multitudes lose their everlasting souls through a bottomless covetousness.....if i were john mccain, i'd walk out of that damn party just as susan eisenhower did and gen powell is thinking about it....a new party should be formed that is centrist, and reasonable and civilized, welcoming the mccains, the hagels, the murtha's, the bloombergs, the nunns....and to hell with this wicked bunch of nazis on the far right - "the time has come the walrus said, to impeach dick cheney and george w. bush....and to rebuke the accomodating democrats...i invite all reasonable people with decency and honor tocy and honor to ask McCain to be himself and to NOT toady or give in to these Limbo Taliban - to cleanse and purge the party of these Neocon Zionists - to rebuke them for hijacking America for their own Likudnik ends.....those who have tortured must be prosecuted...and those who have set it up must come to be impeached....like susan eisenhower. this independent wants to be rid of the Republican RIght Taliban....Obama for President!

    Much Ado About Nothing.

That best describes the current right wing hizzy fit over John McCain???s inevitable nomination.

    So what????
McCain will merely make a deal with the conservatives. He???ll select Mike Huckabee as a running mate. He???ll shut down social security and medicare. He???ll send gays to concentration camps. He'll appoint some judges from the Federalist Society who will declare the voting rights Bill, the Civil rights Law and the 14th Amendment unconstitutional. He???ll bomb Iran and Syria a couple of times ??? and everything will be all right - except for this country.

Who believes the right wing nut jobs any way? According to a study conducted by the Center for Public Integrity, President Bush and Company lied to the American public 939 times. Now it seems like Bush & the Republican party are lying to the public 900 times a day.

In addition the study stated that "Some journalists - indeed, even some entire news organizations - have since acknowledged that their coverage during those prewar months was far too deferential and uncritical. These mea culpas notwithstanding, much of the wall-to-wall media coverage provided additional, 'independent' validation of the Bush administration's false statements about Iraq," That observation certainly applies to the entire right wing as well as almost all major TV news networks.

The current spat betwen McCain and the right wing over who is the true conservative reminds me of similar theological disputes that characterized the ruling elite of the late great USSR over who was a true Marxist-Lenninist. The result was a fossilized system incapable of change. The same applies to the GOP. McCain is the 21st Century equivalent of Leonid Brezhnev. None of what I???ve said bodes will for America.

How about we stop being angry all the time rightwingers. It's not our fault you're old and and no longer a viable part of our society.

Follow the money. Charlie Black gives a hint when he said he's known Limbaugh for 20 years. - Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, Hewitt, Beck, Malkin, Ingraham, Savage, et al serve at the pleasure of moneyed interests. PERIOD. They are paid shills and entertainers. Their programs are subsidized on hundreds of radio stations across the nation. Limbaugh's comment after the 06 elections that he was "tired of carrying water for the Republican Party" wasn't hyperbole.

  • Posted By: dukeitout @ 02/12/2008 9:17:31 PM

One thing you must admit. These right wing radio and TV pundits have a very loyal followers. Their audience is extremely loyal, angry, verbally challenged and knowledge deprived, and are greatly dependent on the likes of Limbaugh, Coulter, Dobson, Hannity, Ingraham, Malkin and Beck to communicate their hostilities. If a communcator has a following of say a million listeners/viewers, he or she can write a book and expect their sales to be about a million copies. Limbaugh and the rest are extremely good businesspersons and know how to tap into their audience.

Young twentysomethings boo and otherwise disrespect a true hero like John McCain? I trust these fine young men will join the military or serve their country just a fraction as well as Mr. McCain (sarcasm intended). Somehow, I believe they'll join the other me-first chickenhawks in the current administration, and on the airwaves. Look up "hypocrite" in your dictionary, fellas. You CAN read another book besides the Bible, can't you?

Rush Limbaugh is going to do everything he can to scuttle the McCain candidacy because a McCain presidency would be a disaster for the Sacred Cause that Rush Limbaugh holds so dear. I refer, of course, to the Sacred Cause of Rush Limbaugh. A Hillary Clinton administration would be great for the business of "Excellence in Broadcasting". What "America's Truth Detector" fears most is a Republican president who isn't going to reference him in his speeches, or send his Vice President over to the studio to kiss Rush's notoriously unfactchecked ass on the air. It's the same with all these right wing clowns. A John McCain presidency could actually save reasonable, civil Goldwater-style conservatism from the blunders and excesses of the past eight years, but these people don't really care about Conservatism as a political philosophy. "Conservatism" is a business for these people, and with McCain the nominee, they all know that a Democratic victory is their best chance to remain relevant and listened to.

You know what I love? Conservatives who inflicted this botched presidency on the rest of us, and who suddenly have discovered that Bush isn't "a real Conservative."!!! :o If I couldn't laugh, I'd cry.

John McCain Voted in favor of Social Security benefits to illegal aliens who commit identity fraud. In 2006. Mr. McCain joined with Mr. Kennedy in working to defeat an amendment by Sen. John Ensign, Nevada Republican, that would have barred Social Security credits for work being done prior to their receiving amnesty ??? in other words, while working under a false Social Security number. The Ensign Amendment, (Senate Amendment 3985) was defeated on a 50-49 vote.

  • Posted By: citizen123 @ 02/12/2008 11:29:09 AM

Let us look at Juan McCain???s conservative credentials:

-IMMIGRATION: he wrote the bill granting amnesty to illegal immigrants (co-sponsored by Ted Kennedy)

-SOCIAL SECURITY: he voted to give your social security money to illegal immigrants

-TAXES: he voted against the Bush tax cuts multiple times (he has since flip-flopped and has campaigned as a lifelong tax-cutter)

-RHETORIC: he routinely engages in Democratic class warfare against big companies in America, particularly the ???evil??? drug companies who research cures to debilitating diseases for a profit

-ECONOMY: as recently as December 2007 he admitted ???he does not know the economy very well??? and needed to get better at it

-1ST AMENDMENT: he wrote the McCain-Feingold campaign finance bill that was declared to be an unconstitutional infringement of the 1st Amendment (co-sponsored by ultra-liberal Democrat Russ Feingold)

-2ND AMENDMENT: he was called the ???worst 2nd amendment candidate??? by the president of the NRA

-ENERGY TAX: wrote a bill (co-sponsored by his buddy Lieberman) imposing a massive tax on energy which, according to the Department of Energy, would drastically raise the price of gasoline and put 300,000 Americans out of work

-GLOBAL WARMING: supports radical global warming legislation which involved him voting with every Democrat; think only America is responsible to take action, not other superpowers

-JUDGES: he joined forces with Democrats (Gang of 14) to block the Senate Republican???s attempt to confirm conservative, strict constructionist judges

-WAR ON TERROR: fought with Hillary Clinton to demand that terrorists be given a full American trial

-GAY MARRIAGE: he joined liberals to fight against a federal marriage amendment supporting the institution of traditional marriage

-CHRISTIANS: campaigning in 2000, he famously described Christian leaders as ???agents of intolerance???

-PRO-LIFE: he filed a brief against pro-life advocates in Wisconsin

-BI-PARTISANSHIP: he met with leading Democrats in 2004 to discuss the possibility of being John Kerry???s Vice-President

-PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: THE ring leader of the infamous Keating 5 ethical scandal which cost US tax payers $160 billion (Google it)

-PERSONAL ETHICS: McCain cheated on his first wife after she had a severe accident that left her partially disabled. He then divorced her and married his multi-millionaire mistress, whose daddy bought McCain a spot in the Congress

  • Posted By: citizen123 @ 02/12/2008 11:27:03 AM

John McCain has voted to give away our social security benefits it illegal aliens!

McCain voted to grant mass amnesty to illegal aliens; and he says he will do that still!
In 2006 McCain voted against the border fence and voted against interior enforcement of our federal immigration laws.

John McCain voted against adding conservatives Judges to our system.
John McCain voted to limit free speech.
    Etc...Etc...ect..
McCain is not who real Republicans can support. He is not willing to do what it takes to earn their support; so why should we support him?

  • Posted By: citizen123 @ 02/12/2008 11:17:52 AM

McCain is indeed a "traitor" to some of the MOST IMPORTANT ISSUES that conservative Republicans want fixed.
Those highly important issues, such as illegal immigration, are what keep???s McCain from being accepted.
McCain has defaulted on core principals.

  • Posted By: jpmachir @ 02/12/2008 9:42:19 AM

I am not an evangelical, and I could not vote for John McCain in a general election - even against Hillary Clinton. John McCain is a traitor to conservatism, and I do not believe that he has the ability to rally conservatives to his side. I know, because I am one of them and find that I am not in the minority. I will not sacrifice principle. I would rather deal with a devil that I know (Hillary) vs. a devil (McCain) that I do not.

    • Posted By: misterharban @ 02/12/2008 10:22:51 AM

It may be noble for you to be true to your conservative cause. By staying home, however, you are a traitor to the men and women your conservatives sent to fight in Iraq. The Dems are running on a promise to surrender and render all that we have spent in lives and dollars worthless. There is nothing more unprincipled than abandoning our military efffort. The one principle that your actions will remove from the conservative lexicon is that of victory with honor.

it seems some of you "republikins" can't wait to put me too mccain into the white house. wher you may be surprised to find he votes just like
'I can't wait to put my hand in your pocket and put prayer rugs in your schools' osama or
I'm gonna make you pay for health insurance for every person who wants to set on their can and push out babies , hillery.
maybe after this tainted election where most of the republicans stay home the party will realise they made a real mistake and actually find a representative of our beliefs to run for president. some times the best action is to bow your head and stay indoors for a short while and wait till the weather is better. jmc does not get my vote.

Isn???t it great that we don???t live in a country like Iran, where a bunch of unelected religious leaders and self-appointed moral authorities must approve any candidates who seek to become president!

To me it comes down to the question of whether clowns like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter actually do represent the soul of the Republican Party. The one thing for which I would fault Ronald Reagan was allowing the religious right to claim that it got him elected, like a rooster claiming credit for the sunrise. In fact, the votes that tipped the balance for Reagan came from people who were simply disgusted with the incompetence of the Carter Administration.

The Republican Party of Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Robert Taft, and Margaret Chase Smith is far better represented by John McCain than any of the sanctimonious blowhards attacking him.

    • Posted By: piinalu @ 02/12/2008 9:35:37 AM

It's an interesting point. Do the results of the primaries show, as some (including Republican strategists) have pointed out, that maybe the chattering class isn't quite as influential as they claim? It's hard to figure out, especially when you factor in last weekend's primary results. I think we've seen the *** in their armor and an electorate that has the remarkable ability to make up it's own mind. Thankfully.

The best thing that ever happened to the Republicans is John McCain. Finally they have a candidate who will stand up to the lunatics who have absorbed the once effective Republican party. McCain's currrent popularity is testament (give me an amen, brother) to the fact that the right-fringe of the Republican Party is a whacked-out as the Far Left of the Democrats. We should all be grateful that McCain is the Republican choice. perhaps now, the Evangelical Right will shuffle off to their caves and wring their hands. America has finally grown tired of them.

    • Posted By: thrasher32 @ 02/11/2008 12:43:44 PM

I think the best thing that ever happened to the Democrats was George W. Bush. Then McCain.

Thanks for making it so easy guys!! Too bad GWB had to murder 5000 of our kids to make it happen...

"Evangelical Right will shuffle off to their caves and wring their hands. America has finally grown tired of them."
This is what I don't get: don't Evangelicals believe that God controls everything? So maybe it's God's will that John McCain is the Republican candidate. Hey evangs, your arms are too short to box with God!

    • Posted By: Braes @ 02/10/2008 1:43:17 PM

Thank you. While I am a conservative Reagan Democrat and Veteran from the south, I will find it very difficult to vote against John. Blue Dogs will have a hard time come November.

      I could not agree more.

McCain does not need to kiss up to the crybaby conservative wing. He can just realize the values voters, (not the Romney crowd), will support him as "conservative enough" on the issues. Mac will win the middle when the time comes and cannot do well by appealing to the Limbaugh losers who forsook social conservatives to back Mitt.

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/10/2008 2:06:37 PM

I'm not one to complain about the strong influence of evangelicals and the far cultural right in the Republican party, but this news really bothers me. In their caustic attacks on McCain the groups I've named have indicated that they believe that they SHOULD have the final say on who the nominee of the Republican party is. McCain's great crossover appeal is a unique opportunity to show Limbaugh et al. that they do not own the party. Evangelicals and the far right need to know: we can do it without you, and come November I'll bet few of you have the sand to vote for someone other than McCain. You had an influential eight years. Time for some new blood.

    • Posted By: Cazador72 @ 02/10/2008 8:46:03 PM

Adam, my friend. That was an animal Republicans created, fed and then starved. One can't open the back door to the pigs and then complain that the house is filthy. I agree with you that some new blood is needed but first Republicans need to accept, come to grips and then excise that horrible influence they let into their party. Rush, Coulter and company are freaking out because they feed off the divisions of this country. A "united" America would be the end of their careers because where would they be without pissed-off conservatives. Good riddance to them, I say.

      • Posted By: maria_dee @ 02/12/2008 8:06:45 AM

And suppose McCain does win in November - without them. They no longer can claim they have any influence at all. So they're taking a gamble when they threaten to stay home. IMO McCain can easily win without them, especially against Obama.

    • Posted By: doctorfixit @ 02/10/2008 9:22:39 PM

The evangelicals are steadily drifting toward the marginally more socialist Democrat party, their current thinking being that the goverment should do God's work here on earth. Why didn't Jesus think of that? They'll be doing the cause of freedom a big favor when they join the other fascists.

  • Posted By: EscapeToday @ 02/10/2008 3:22:11 PM

Comment: Church and State should be combined as long as we are combining it with MY religion. I am a member of the largest Church in the United States. Do you know which Church is the largest in the U.S.?
Hint: We have been managing countries quite effectively since the Middle Ages. Since we want to be ruled by the Church, how will the evangelicals submit to the rules and hierarchy of the Church that I am referencing?
