But don't you see, that is no reason to vote for someone just because she is a woman. The question is, Is she the best candidate for the job? If you constantly separate women from men in the same light, there will always be this victim-type attitude you will feel just because you are a woman. Don't divide yourselves. Get out of that mentality, or it will always be there. Focus on unity rather than separation or we will always be separate.

apparently my comment got cut off.. As I was saying, sure there are those pockets. They need no emphasis or highlighting from the media though. Most of us really do not have racist, sexist, biast tendencies. We believe that a black persident (NOT african american, that is like calling white people "European American"), or a female president can, and would be perfectly competent.

I do not believe that all of the opinions regarding Blacks are racism. There are genuine concerns among whites, Latinos, and even Blacks regarding Black society. Statistics clearly point to lower education, earning power, family issues, and crime among Blacks. When these topics are discussed, Blacks hide behind racism. Many Americans have experienced racism who are not Black. They and their communities have assimilated and become contributors to American society. 125 years after the end of slavery is time enough for Blacks begin to move on and reject the stereotypes of Rap videos. They simply can not have it both ways ans it is NOT racisim to discuss this social issue in the light of day.

I believe we need to clear the air a little bit. We are NOT as divided as our politics and our media would make us out to be. This race issue? Are you kidding me? It seems to me that if you want to divide people, let's do so accurately. It seems to be the hang ups, and left over bias of the baby boom generation that cling to these labels. It surely isn't the "millenials" as we have been dubbed. Sure there are still pockects of ignorance and hatre

It is so shameful that many women are not willing to vote for Hillary, no because her position on issues, but for the simple reason that she is a women. It show how poor self image many of them have about themselves as women. How long do we have to wait until women can realize that they also can do the same work and many of them better than men? When is that women will wake up and stop this sexist attitude that the only thing bring to the table is limiting themselves for doing so many things that they can do.

I am a latino boy and I support Hillary because I think it is time that in the USA face the fact that women are not treated equally to men and yes, they have the capacity to be president and do anything, there is not such thing as ???work for men??? or ???work for women???

Take an honest look at any country, island, city, etc. that blacks control. Is life good there ? When a boat full of them loads up to try & escape; are they headed for another black country? There is a difference between predjudice & rational self preservation.

Barack Obama is very correct,in saying that we are NOT as divided as our politics Or our media would suggest! These labels and groupings seem to be a huge preoccupation with the baby boom generation. They however are not consistant with how what you label as the "millenial" generations look at the world. We were brought up differently, and we do not cling to these groupings. Our elders it seems still hold closely thcdlktheir snssns

When everyone is still referring to people by race, we will still have a racial problem, even unconsciously. Every time I fill out a card for my daughter, whether it be for school, medical, etc., I always write in the "Other" section "Human Being". That is what we all are. That is what we always will be. Until we start calling ourselves human beings rather than by color, there will be division, like it or not. So quit trying to make us a statistic. I voted for the human being I feel would become the best president.

Actually if a TV commentator makes a snide remark like "Hillary is crying because she is a woman" there is no outrage. If a commentator made a remark Of course Obama plays Basketball , he is black, the commentator would be fired.

Couldn't agree more! Why is it OK to shame some for playing the race card yet you RARELY -- if ever -- hear chiding for the conscous -- but mostly unconscious -- sexism at play in this contest? To be clear: sexist attitudes toward women are habored by BOTH men and women. Women in patriarchal cultures like ours have often internalized it and aren't even aware (see RescueYou's comment above...)

Sorry, I meant to write "inexperience with slogans"...

As long as the Media INSISTS on speaking of people as "white", "African American", "Evangelicals", "Young", Older", etc. WE will see yourselves as belonging to GROUPS. Like a tribal mentality!! And, of course, there are individuals (MANY individuals who do the same). We are all individuals, no matter what our skin color, age, or beliefs. I'm SICK TO DEATH of being told what "people group" I'm herding into. And I wish individuals, and those running for president would stop doing the same!! Ron Paul never did!! But people seem to gravitate towards medocrity, the status quo or inexpensive with slogans. We're a VERY sad nation...

Oh please. Newsweek's orthodox liberalism. Give me a break. Just vote for the brotha and don't worry about it.

We may be [unconcious] sexists too. How many news stories have we seen about racism -- but precious few about sexism? In a patriarchal culture, it's hard to recognize sexism because it's just part of the accepted air that we breathe. I believe Hillary has an even greater hurdle than Obama's race issue. After all. historical suffragists fought to abolish slavery and enact women's voting rights at the same time. In the end, the abolitionists told the women to sit down and be good daughters and wait their turn. They were abandonded and had to start the fight for their rights by themselves.

Ask youself this: What do you put down on questionnaire forms when asked what your race is? For my family, I always put "Human Being" under "Other." When your kids come home from school and say they made a new friend, do you ask what color they are? Until we all look at each other as human beings, not what color our skin is, there will always be a division. What difference does it make what our skin color is!!! We are all human beings, so get over trying to divide us already!!!! Quit trying to make us a statistic. I voted for the human being I feel would become the best president.

Racism is in our DNA, it will always be around. it doesnt suprise me one bit that people are secretly prejuice towards others. Infact without racism the world would be at peace.

To find the truth about covert racism, one only need read what is posted anonymously on message boards. Whether local, national, or international, message boards contain vitriolic comments meant to offend, demean and dehumanize. People express ideas anonymously that they would never express in polite company. Yes, racism is alive and well. Until people begin to look seriously at their own negative beliefs and make attempts at educating themselves, it will remain so.

Calling me crazy, for saying that Obama???s family is 100% Muslim, pointing to his white mother. Only one who has, often been called crazy, can utter those words, she chose to disregard, was he as vocal against the war launched against Christian Serbia? So obsessed, was she, not to realize that Obama???s family on his fathers side is 100% Muslim so he had an ulterior motive, to vote against the war. Yes I must spell it out, a Muslim nation. He new that otherwise he would not be able ever to face his father???s family! He is the second former Muslim trying to sneak into to the white house.

Breit: You sure seem to know alot about Obama's family history without having met or seen any of them in person. Additionally, you are judging him as a person based on his family ties?? Anyone ever wonder about Prescott Bush - patriarch of the Bush clan?? Dig into his history and see how they become a dynasty of a family.....But I digress, I have muslims and jews in my family (my father is a black jew (gasp!!)) but that by no means defines who I am. Perhaps he voted against the ware because he actually believed it was wrong....If claiming what you believe his faith to be helps you sleep at night so you don't have to admit that you are a racist, have at it.....I can take you lying to me but please don't lie to yourself.
