: does the missing Florida employment card or finger print card have a sign off line to show that a criminal background check has been compleated ? i was informed (from an insider) that in oregon dhs only 1-3 out of every 9 applicants are fully prosessed because of costs. and in oregon those records kept by CHILD SERVICES are kept from any outsiders veiw. So perhaps they are not missing,the but just missplaced 4 now.------------

This guy worked at Bay News 9 as a reporter in Tampa before the DCF job. Are they searching his work computers there to see what's on them? Are they checking his old stories to see if he had contact with teen boys on the job?

I am totally outraged and disgusted by this report. Not blame the agency for hiring Zimmerman? There is no excuse for the sloppy handling of his background check, application, identification, etc. They have stricter guidelines than that to be hired at a gas station! Total outrage!

Look at the laws in Florida. Most sexual predators commit against MULTIPLE children before they do any time at all. Then they do less time than a marijuana dealer. Tougher prison is not the answer. Prison in Florida is some of the hardest time in the US. I should know, I worked at a Florida prison for 3 1/2 years, but if you don't want to believe me, look it up on Amnesty Int'l website. Tampa, of the quadriplegic being dumped out of his chair, is typical of the mindset of the correctional staff in Florida. The problem is the courts are sending the wrong people to do hard time, making crimes of this nature "sex crimes," which carry much less punishmnet than the violent crimes they are.

Coming from a family who's mother and sister were abused as children, this guy needs to hang with the rest of them. I don't mean hang as in hang out and play cards. I mean HANG. People like this have ruined lives of innocent children. They have a hard time trusting, loving themselves or others, seeing the truth and having confidence. It doesn't matter if he's republican, democrat, blonde hair and blue eyes, the point is that he is sick and there is no rehabilitation for these sickos. And that is coming from my families experience, because the two different men who harmed my mother and then my sister went on to do it to others. And now we have in our tiny little town of a little over 1,000 people, pedifiles driving through our town trying to pick up teen age girls by having them sniff perfume and trying to pick up a grade school boy while he walks home from school. These two incidents happened within 2 weeks of eachother just here recently. So these sick jerks need to be taken out to the good ole country boys house and be put down like a lame horse!

My son was raped by a phedophile in his mothers home , Yet D.C.F. told the judge on the case that it was a safe home and enviroment for him to live in ? Mind the fact that it happened several times to my son and another child living in the home. Honestly almost 30 times !! So what should florida residents expect from d.c.f. ? Hopefully better hiring practices with more serious background checks ? Maybe evaluate the homes of the caseworkers as well ? The lady on my childs case was college educated with many degrees , though she lacked common sense ! Pretty much the same goes for the organization itself!

What's the problem? Teen boys do that on their own.He simply shouldn't have offered money,that's where the immorality lies,the boys should have done it for free,out of sexual charity.

All I have to say is whatever happens to him he deserves all of it. How do you work for children that are abused and endanger then you turn around and do the same things to them that you are suppose to be helping stop.

All I can say is sad, said and sad. Yes I think the old prison system needs to be broguth back. Spend the money to reopen Alcatraz if you are going to spend the states money to pay these pervs in a ligitimate job since no one bothered to properly do an extensive background check. This guy is not the only one that should be held accountable for his actions. The people who put him in this postion should be held accoutable as well. He could not have gotten this far if someone had been doing their job.
