Why would a reputable publication like this be pursuing negatively a failing candidate? Could it be that his message is true and it lives on? The article by Joe Miller is filled with inaccurate statements and very poor quotation of sources. Very amateurish and refutable. The SPP and the NAU are proven facts. It is also a fact that Ronald Reagan supported Ron Paul and that Ron Paul supported Ronald Reagan.

This publication has no credibility whatsoever. While they ignore positive aspects of Ron Paul's campaign, they only mention his name whenever they can say something negative (as dumb as the negative comments may be). First of all, the North American Union is a fact. It has been proven to be a fact by so many sources, that Joe Miller cannot even plead ignorance if he was to defend his silly diatribe.

Its easy to see through your efforts to minimize the drain on our society that global corporate interests impose by manipulating our government to serve its profit motivated "empire" expansion. Supporters of Paul recognize the need to change our direction in foreign policy. Supporters of Paul recognize that the established government in power is taking away rights and taxing its citizens and an accelerating pace. There needs to be balance. The wishes of the people should be reflected by Government which we elect. We see this reflection distorted, twisted, ignored at an accelerating rate. You personally have played your hand to use your position to mis-direct your readers from the real reason Ron Paul is supported with such enthusiasm. This is a republic. The president sets the direction. If the constitution is followed the powers are kept in check. Ron Pauls DIRECTION makes him popular with his supporters. Please do your part to encourage those who will lead us in a direction that will stop the lies, deception and secrecy present in OUR elected government leaders. Remove the deceptions from our government and the conspiracy theories will cease. Encourage the vote for beliefs and integrity. Voting for the "winner" is in my impression what the media typically encourages.

Tell us what Ron Paul stands for. You will find that Liberty, Truth, Freedom, will lead us. These ideals are what make Ron Supporters enthusiastic. Ron Paul is offering to work to bring these ideals to the presidency. He is not saying them, his life demonstates them. Look a little deeper and you will see what his supporters see. He is not a candidate of the lesser evil you would have us vote for. When something is broken .... fix it!

So...:"mid-level bureaucrats" like President Bush, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexico's President Felipe Calderon, all who attended the SPP summit in Montebello, are involved in the SPP? Those mid-level bureaucrats?

Why don't you count how many times your article has been debunked in these comments, and count the number of positive responses, and see who the frontrunner is? Ron Paul Grand Rally in D.C. coming soon!

Shame on Newsweek for allowing something so unevenly thought out and poorly done put for all to see with their name on it.

The media tries to pretend that Ron Paul does not exist. The media should not choose our next president. Ron Paul has a lot more support then everyone wants to admit. I live in AZ and was not able to vote for him in our Primary because of our state rules (that???s right I can???t vote for who I want). There have also been stories of his name being "accidentally left off the ballot" and people making up statements that he has dropped out of the campaign. THE GOVERNMENT IS AFRAID OF A CANDIDATE LIKE RON PAUL. HE SUPPORTS THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY AND OUR RIGHTS. How could anyone really vote for someone who thinks that we should be in Iraq for the next 100 years? Then on to Iran? How many more people have to die for special interests? If we actually needed our troops in the U.S. we wouldn???t even have any available to protect us. They are all in other countries where they should not be. Bring our troops home and protect our borders. Why even waste anymore time? We do not have the right to be the police of the world nor should we. We our destroying our own economy by fighting wars that we can't win.

Our Government prints money out of thin air and borrows more from other countries then we can ever pay back which is killing us and the value of our dollar is rapidly dropping. Do you really think that the government brainwashed zombies and liars have done a good job with our country so far? Bush has been one of the worst presidents in history. You all fell for his BS. He used the emotions of our country after 9/11 to put us in a war that benefits him, his friends, and his family members. Why allow them to throw us further down? Fighting wars that can never be won and wasting our hard earned money on their special interests. The companies that get bids to do jobs in countries where we are at war, they get over paid, and the money trail always comes back to people in the Government that are in some way affiliated with that company.

ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO RIGHT TO TAX US. THEY TAKE OUR MONEY AND USE IT FOR THEIR INTERESTS. THEY SPEND OUR TAX MONEY ON WHATEVER THEY WANT. Then they want to send us a small check to keep us quiet. Its time for us all to stand up for ourselves and fight this!!!

IT IS TIME FOR EVERY CITIZEN IN THIS COUNTRY TO COME TOGETHER AND STOP ALLOWING OUR GOVERNMENT TO TREAT US LIKE SLAVES. RON PAUL IS THE ONLY CANDIDATE THAT CARES ABOUT YOU.

Lie #1: The NAFTA super highway, it's even been covered by CNN, need I say more?

Lie #2: Simple math, the Boarder Patrol is a direct result of oue 'empire' greed and support of globalism, programs like NAFTA have driven down wages in Mexico. A mainstrem new article a year ago even boasted of how the biggest winner from NAFTA was Wal-Mart! Moreover, the interest on our debt is a debt mostly owned by foreigh nations, like China. This debt is a result of illegals, unConstitutional wars like the one in Iraq.

So, need I explain the dynamics anymore, Mr. Miller, of why Rep. Paul would not be able to cut these spendings?

Lie #3: Rep. Paul ran for president in 1988 on the Libetarian ticket, need I say more here, too? Moreover, the Reagan of 1982 was not the Reagan of 1988. Things had changed. Need an examlpe? OK, amnesty for illegals in 1986! WOW, it made a big difference didn't it? Just as Rep. Paul predicted back then, things would only get worse.

I'd like to take more time to point out what rubbish your 'story' is. But honestly, your mind is to closed, and small to bother. Go back to your controlers and tell them how stupid you/they look.

Please please keep attacking Dr. Paul. It only helps spread the truth. Thank you setting us straight.
    Just a few points:
    1. Denying something exists does not make it go away. Google NAFTA. There are many folks who think a North American Union is a good idea. Ron Paul does not. Lou Dobbs has TV and YouTube discussions about this quite a bit. And they are well watched. Some say this is why Bush 2 is weak on immigration.
    2. In your defense and foreign estimates of spending you are forgetting the midyear emergency supplementations (read mega deficit spending!). Are you really saying that if it is not $1 trillion that 700 foreign military bases are OK?! Where will the money come from?
    3. There is a world of difference between Reagan's words and his actions, i.e. between the man and his administration which included the neocon Bush I who brought in his cronies and took over. I have never been sure why Reagan allowed this.

Forgetting what they say they will do, would someone tell me what difference it will make in the real world actions of our next President, if Hillary or Obama are elected?....Or if McCain or Huckabee are elected? Then please tell me what it matters, if Obama or McCain are elected. What will they actually do differently?
I sincerely do not know. I know what they say. I just do not believe they will act differently. They are all hypocrites in my opinion, who could not consistently tell the truth if our lives depended on it! If any of the top 4 are elected, then we will stay in Iraq and Afghanistan, we will go broke with deficit spending, inflation is going to go through the roof, and the Patriot Act will NOT be repealed. So what difference does it really make if any of the top 4 are elected?
Why is it so hard for people to see why Ron Paul supporters will not give up?
We simply have no other rational choice. It is all really quite simple if you look at it logically.

Ron Paul has been saying the same message of uninflating this bloated government for over 30 years. He sounds like the founding fathers and seems to have their integrity and tenacity, What a breath of fresh air his message is. We are supposed to be republic (A Government built on Principal) Not a Democracy (A Government Built on Mob or Majority rule) He returns most of his Congressional pay and has NEVER voted for a Congressional pay increase or even a tax increase. He is known as Mr. NO on capital hill. I only pray that we had a few hundred more just like him!... PatrickMBS@gmail.com

Funny you call Ron Paul an "Insurgent". Might as well say, Ron 'alQaeda' Paul, or Dr. Ron Hezbollah.

Why you chose your lying words so, terroristic?

Are you a fundalmentalist terrorist as well as a lying, so called journalist, Joe 'factcheck jihad' Miller?

Kick rocks you loser. I bet when you wrote you high school paper you had to lie too. Just to have friends.

I am a Ron Paul supporter. And I have read some awesome comments here. There are a wealth of well educated people reading and commenting on this Newsweek article. Well use your bright mind for this one: Do you think this article would be published in the magazine, Newsweek? Probably not. Why because it wasn't meant for that. I will tell you what this article was meant for. Since I have been in these pages I have been attacked by at least 10 pop up ads. Those are just the ones I know about. (Later i will find them all on my HDD and remove them all) But here is the whole reason this article was written: Ron Paul articles pull in readers, responses, and traffic. When these articles written by un-educated losers are posted and Ron Paul supporters find them, they are subjecting themselves to a marketing frenzy. These internet marketers and media outlets get huge amounts of money (and information) from us browsing these pages.

Tell me this, would you have visited here today and speant time here fighting off all of the pop up ads if it wasn't for a smear article about the best person for the 2008 presidential election? Hell no.

These Newsweeks folks just got wind through their corperate grapevines that the Ron Paul name pays off in $$$ when the Paulites get mad and defend the good Dr.'s name. Their just corporate pigs. Thats all.

There are more comments on this post than the author has ever had in readers. Does anybody actually buy Newsweek magazine and its yellow dog journo. These scumbag online journos bait the supporters of Dr. Paul. The more comments they get, the more their pop-up advertising rates soar. Turn off your pop ups. Dont buy anything they advertise. Cancel your VISA card or at least call them and tell them not to advertise on Newseek.

Wow. A Trans Texas Corridor. A highway, several football field's wide, privately owned and operated by a multinational corporation.

DUH!!! The NAFTA superhighway is not owned or operated by state or federal govt.

It is a privately owned highway stretching from the border of Mexico to half way into Texas. Its use is to circumvent state and federal transportation laws.

Mr. Miller - Fantastic column. The closing section, with its lesson on basic logic, was especially good. Bravo.
mrmarler: As wikipedia can be edited by anyone, it is not considered a creditable source. So you'll have to learn to use the internet to find a useful source and prove your claim of intelligence.

11] After these disruptions, the National Post reported on a Conservative party manual to, among other things, usurp Parliamentary committees and cause chaos in unfavorable committees. [12] [13] The New Democratic Party has also criticized SPP for being undemocratic, not open to Parliament, and opaque [14]; New Democratic Party leader Jack Layton described the process as not simply unconstitutional, but "non-constitutional," held completely outside the usual mechanisms of oversight. The Trans-Texas Corridor was first proposed by Texas Governor Rick Perry in 2002. It consists of a 1,200 foot wide highway that also carries utilities such as electricity, petroleum and water as well as railway track and fiber-optic cables.[1] In July 2007, U.S. Representative and 2008 presidential candidate Duncan Hunter successfully offered an amendment to House Resolution 3074, the FY2008 Transportation Appropriations Act, prohibiting the use of federal funds for Department of Transportation participation in the actvities of the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP). Hunter stated that: "Unfortunately, very little is known about the NAFTA Super Highway. This amendment will provide Congress the opportunity to exercise oversight of the highway, which remains a subject of question and uncertainty, and ensure that our safety and security will not be compromised in order to promote the business interests of our neighbors."[14] Fellow Republican Congressman and presidential candidate Ron Paul brought the issue to mainstream prominence during the December 2007 CNN-YouTube GOP debate, where he also called it "the NAFTA Superhighway" and, like Hunter, framed it within "the ultimate goal" of creating a North American Union.[1]

The Government of Alberta, Canada displays a diagram on their website that labels I-29 and I-35 as the "NAFTA Superhighway".[15]

NASCO has received $2.5 million in earmarks from the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) for the development of a technology and tracking tools. NASCO hopes the deployment of a modern information system will reduce the cost, improve the efficiency, reduce trade-related congestion, and enhance security of cross-border and corridor information, trade, and traffic. According to the NASCO website, the Federal Government has funded more than $234 million [1] towards the NASCO Corridor since 1999.
