    Fact Check:

1st - Ron Paul clearly explain in one of the debates that globalism (North American Union, etc.) isn't some secret devilish conspiracy, but just a political ideology that some people in the world are pushing for and that he is fiercely against. It must exist, the European Union happened, didn't it? Why not North America? Are you going to tell me that no politicians are seriously thinking that for the future? That's all he's saying.

2nd - Your quote, and NOTHING I've heard from Ron Paul makes the claim that we spend $1 trillion PER YEAR. What he was saying is that we've spent nearly $1 trillion on the war since it's inception 5 years ago (which is true.) Do you have a quote where he says per year? I haven't heard one.

3rd - Politicians distance themselves or get close to known persons all the time to communicate their views. Most people remember what Reagan talked about (smaller government, etc), where as in 1988, it was clear he hadn't acheived that, so Ron Paul couldn't very well claim he did then. But he stands to this day as a conservative icon, if only in the minds of Republicans. So, Paul talks about Reagan's IDEAS to help communicate those principles.

4th - Are you seriously writing this article? If this is the worst you can dig up on Ron Paul, he must be pretty sqeaky clean compared to blatant lies by other candidates.

I can't believe I just wasted the time to read and post about this article... ugh...

Then why have 43 members of Congress introduced or cosponsored H.C.R. 40, "Expressing the sense of Congress that the United States should not engage in the construction of a North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) Superhighway System or enter into a North American Union with Mexico and Canada."

Ok, so you're being paid to write this article dissing Ron Paul. Maybe if you did some research, you would find out that the North American Union IS REAL. But...since your paper is full of ignorant sell outs who would rather line their pockets with cash and lie to the American public, than report truth, well.....I hope there's mercy for you when the Revolution comes.

Unreal, this article is yet another expample of the irrisponcabilty on the part of the "main stream" to distort the news rather than to report it. Firstly, the N.A.S.C.C.O. superhighway has been reported on by plenty in the media, including C.N.N. 's Lou Dobbs, and has been put on hold, but only because of thinking Americans, who do not subscribe to propganda by the press. Second, the Trillion a year in overseas expendatures has been checked out by others in the press to be accurate within a few hundred thousand dollars, namely Glen Beck, who is a harsh critic of Paul, and lastly, no one denies the 1988 disassociation from Reagan's bad policies around that time, but the Reagan doctrain of true conservatism and a serious look at returning to the gold standard, was something Dr. Paul embrasses, as we all do. Dr. Paul is an intellegent man with a passion for his country and not because his constituancy wants it, but because he does, and he should not be judeged by some half wit writter.

I think its funny that anyone would look to a Newsweek magazine for "facts." This is perhaps one of the least accurate magazines in America, and has a long history of misrepresentations (remember the drug craze of the 1980s when Newsweek printed false and misleading charts on the covers of its magazines?) Little seems to have changed, and I would avoid it and not worry too much about what it says about Ron Paul, or quite frankly what it says about anything. I knew clicking on the link to this article would be a waste of time (and look, I am not even someone who voted for Paul). I think for a "fact checking" institution to use "Wrong Paul" is hilarious. Who is factcheck.org anyway? Makes sense that Newsweek would latch onto their story. Its perfect, a Weekly World News style headline and poorly thought through facts (how about actually crunching some numbers there fact check?) I couldn't even make it through more than a couple pages.

Clearly the Revolutionary movement Ron Paul has inspired is not inconsequential... else you wouldn't be spending any time trying to smear him.

What the American people need to understand is WHY Ron Paul has been marginalized and/or smeared since the beginning of his campaign. And when America understands *that*, America will also understand WHY WE SO CRITICALLY NEED RON PAUL IN THE WHITE HOUSE!

Thanks, but no thanks, for this garbage "reporting". I'll keep this in mind next time I'm ever tempted to waste another dime on purchasing a copy of Newsweek.

wow, your ignorance is startling. I won't attempt to list all your incorrect statements, but here's one for your correction reprint:

The SPP (which you seem to think is a figment of someone's imagination) is included in Section 413 of the well-known amnesty bill by Kennedy-McCain last summer. Look it up...

I suggest you check your sources before printing irresponsible articles like this. You give journalism a bad name. Very unprofessional.

There is a growing segment of the American population that will no longer be spoon-fed by the media. Anyone truly interested in our future is doing their own homework and thinking for themselves.

You're an idiot. You are just another distraction from the real issues, like those presented for discussion by Dr. Paul. If it wasn't for him our eyes would still be drawn away by you in the MSM. Like today, with that retarted Roger Clemens on every news channel while the House debates giving amnesty to the telephone companies that helped Bush spy on citizens with warrantless wiretaps and brush aside the FISA court. And they want to extend that power... we need to stop them. Write your congress-persion.
