Really? The Nafta highway doesn't exist? Maybe someone should tell my local newstation when they ran this story. http://www.click2houston.com/news/15288988/detail.html ...oh and maybe tell the landowners who are about to lose their property.

You should really do your homework better.

Thank you all patriots who have enlightened Joe Miller to the truth of Dr. Ron Paul's message of freedom and liberty through these comments! This is a poor ... poor article which distorts the entire campaign.

This article is a swing, and a miss. It is totally devoid of any meaningful or realistic discussion of our country's ridiculous foreign and economic policies, which are the centerpieces of Paul's campaign. You can nit pick the guy to death on the highway and spending amounts but in the process you completely ignore the merits of his proposals to promote freedom, a sound economy, defense and less government intervention.

You fail to mention any of Ron Paul's statements that DO check out.

Did you find ANYTHING that was accurate?

I do find it disturbing (as a Ron Paul convert) that Dr. Paul's dollar figures are shown here to be highly exaggeated. I also find it disturbing to hear that the NAFTA Superhighway story seems to be a little paranoia. In these instances, he seems to be acting just like most other politicians, eh? So I guess you are saying that's BAD, right?

I read nothing else inyour article that discredits the vast majority of Paul's statements or his congressional voting record. Furthermore, I have not heard ANY other candidate dispute his statements about money, economics, or that NAFTA issue, or really much else. NOBODY addresses most of his statements. They just like to get all riled up when they hear their favorite wars being insulted. Since none of them has anything intelligent to counter his statements about the economy and other things, they just laugh and mock him. And the media goes right along with it, showering attention on less-educated, less-principled, slogannering windbags whose egos enter the room before them.

Sure there are some nuts among RP supporters. There are more than a few nuts supporting W and most other politicians. However, some of us are actually sane and intelligent, and have been woken up by RP's statements WHICH HE BACKS UP, unlike most politicians. Dr. Paul has said so much that makes perfect sense, and he is so well-educated on so many issues, and NO ONE has disputed that all of his voting reflcts Constitutional principles, and NO ONE h as disputed the allegation that Dr. Paul himself does not go on lobbyist-financed junkets, does not participate in the Congressional pension plan, does not avail himself of LOTS of "free" taxpayer money., nd so on. Maybe because none of them can make those claims themselves????????

I was a Democrat forever. Several election cycles ago I decided that ALL Democrats and ALL Republicans were crooked and corrupt, and could not have survived in politics otherwise. Suddenly, Dr. Paul made me believe there might be one honest one left on earth. I think THAT is what has got so many of us so fired up.

I appreciate that Newsweek made the effort, sort of, to give Dr. Paul a little attention, however, this article is very obviously biased against him. And mostly, it is not the whole story.

PLEASE tell us about the areas in which Dr. Paul is RIGHT.

Is that too much to ask?

You suck Newsweek!!! 1984 HERE WE COME

First of all, let it be known that I'm not an extreme Paul-ite. However:
    1. If we spend 1 trillion on overseas defense, then we have an empire
    2. We aren't spending 1 trillion
    3. Therefore: we are not building an empire......... Kettle/Pot

Truly, the best thing coming from the fantasy, fallacy and factual fumbles of Joe Miller are the comments of the readers. I've been thoroughly entertained and have learned a lot so I thank these patriots for contributing when Joe has clearly done a dis-service to the public.

I own several beauty salons where your rag is on our shelves for customers to read. I will cancel those subscriptions today!! This crap is so far from the truth about what Ron Paul stands for that it makes me sick.I know so many people that are behind Ron's message but didn't want to see McCain in the office so they voted for Romney or Huckabee because they felt they were wasting a vote to vote for Ron and that was because of the lack of attention given to Ron by the media since the start. His following is much bigger than anyone realizes.

The topics you chose are EASY to debate and dismiss. Why don't you explore something more intellectually challenging like Ron Paul's views on our monetary policy/fiat money, Mises economics, the country's deficit spending, etc.? Why not take on these issues? Is it because you don't understand it your yourself? Are all journalists in MSM that ignorant and lazy??

How many copies of Newsweek have been sold that cover US wars since Viet Nam? Newsweek profits need to be included in the 'trillion' dollar estimate as just another profiteer of the neocon agenda. Newsweek was always a rag of yellow journalism and their writers are of surly character.

Yes, and I also plan to email this article to loads of people, to show them exactly how biased our media really us - including my friends and business colleagues in Europe. For the readers, you should check out Ron Paul: Who owns you - George Carlin on youtube. It says it all.

"We've given his statements little attention until now" -

And you call this respectable journalism? You even admit you gave little attention to Dr. Paul. You've given absolutely no attention to one of the remaining 3 Republican presidential candidates; one who has received the most donations from active military personnel than anyone (more than all the other Republican candidates combined). Maybe the military is trying to say something! How many other presidential candidates have you trashed in a 6-page article? I would presume none. I haven't read Newsweek in a long time and remember now why. I only returned to read this article because I couldn't believe what I had heard about this. You ARE the perfect example of the direction America is heading. I'll be sure to tell at least 20 people how disgusting and biased your reporting is. Hopefully they will tell 20 more.

    Legalize the Constitution.

More corporate-owned, corporate controlled media crap. Fact is, most people haven't heard about Dr. Paul because the media have been ordered to blacklist him. Unfortunately, you don't have the courage to admit it. Would probably lose your job. When did it happen? When did our reporters sell their souls to their owners rather than having the courage to tell the truth? I can say this much. There are no patriots in our media today.

  • Posted By: Goobs @ 02/13/2008 10:28:07 AM

Let's see......the corporate-owned, corporate-controlled media blacklists Dr. Paul and then tries to reason that he is failing because of policy. That's bull and you know it. Most people I know haven't heard of Dr. Paul. That's because the 'powers that be' have flipped the American public the bird and have told us that THEY will choose who we can choose. The media sucks, the powers that be suck and I'm moving back to Europe because my country has been sold to big business.

Why do you insist on talking about conspiracy theories, and not the overall message of freedom? We want small government at home and abroad. That is the old Republican platform. Ron Paul has been so smeared that he has no chance. The message, however, will continue. Instead of arguing about the manutia of tactics in Iraq, you need to look at the crux of the matter: What should be the role of our government in foreign countries and policy? Forget the little stuff and focus on the big picture. In 10 years, you will falling all over yourselves to challenge the Fed reserve and fiat system. I will be saying, "I told you so. And so will Ron Paul."

The lamestream media has lost all credibility and they know it. It's the beginning of the end for the MSM and NewsWeak

  • Posted By: Brian213 @ 02/13/2008 10:26:36 AM

Some really crack journalism there, your mom must be really proud. "The NAFTA Superhighway doesn't exist because the people who are planning it told me it doesn't exist." Really just breathtaking stuff. If you count the amount of money we've been spending over the past 25 years building our empire overseas, $1 trillion is a conservative number. This is just pure intellectual dishonesty. Keep mocking and marginalizing Paul, you're going to be on the wrong side of history.

  • Posted By: wendylady @ 02/13/2008 10:26:15 AM

Does Newsweek have ANY non-biased reporters? Shame on you for responding to your readers request for more information about Ron Paul with this trash. Why does the media hate Ron Paul so much? Could it be that Ron Paul is a whistle blower (so to speak) and he poses a threat? The media is owned, people! Ron Paul tells the truth. Do your own reserch and if you subscribe to this trash, I'm sorry you wasted your money.
