Joe Miller: Nice try on a hit piece, buddy. Thanks for giving ink to Ron Paul. He is selflessly trying to get the US back on track. ---- http://www.ronpaul2008.com/issues/debt-and-taxes/ --- Quotes from Thomas Jefferson: "I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them." ...."I sincerely believe that banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies, and that the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity, under the name of funding, is but swindling futurity on a large scale."

    You are a liar!
    1)
http://www.infratrans.gov.ab.ca/INFTRA_Content/docType56/Production/pol306.htm has mysteriously gone missing but luckly google has a cache

    2) He never said he would save trillions of dollars over seas, just hundreds of billions. it would cost an estimated 260 billion to defend this country and he plans on keeping that.
    3) He is touting what Ronald Reagan ran on, just like what Bush ran on.

    Mr. Miller,

You can acurrately reiterate Reagan's quote regarding Ron Paul, However, I would have liked to see the direct quote from Ron Paul's (Jan) statement....Quite frankly, who wouldn't see the following areas as covered by the term "NATIONAL DEFENSE SPENDING"???
    U.S. Border Patrol
US Military bases in the United States and staff
Background checks for new immigrants ( a.k.a. Immigration Policy Enforcement)
    Cargo Inspections
    Airport security
    U.S. passports
FBI's counter-terrorism unit (P.S. NeoCon term, but still applies)

You hear Dr. Paul, but might have mixed up the message a little. Paul states that "We are spending $1 trillion to maintain our empire and our country is going bankrupt", We can't afford it anymore, "we need to cut foreign spending, we don't need 700 military bases around the world", Reduce the size of government and end this unconstitutional war, "

Anyone with love for our country should worry about her condition!

YOU SAY: "92 percent of the interest payments on the national debt"

I SAY: $406 Billion in interest to China. Why not mention that, currently, we are borrowing $3 billion dollars per day from China...THEY ARE COMMUNISTS, might I remind you!! What are we doing????

Regarding the north American union, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but they do raise some interesting points....We do have a current neo-con president that was quoted as saying the Constitution is "just a piece of paper," We also have our border patrol agents removed from AZ, TX and NM serving Operation Jump Start in Iraq. AND It's interesting to YouTube, "Amero"... I wouldn't have expected to see so many Main Steam Media outlets/most popular talking heads reporting this "future currency". All these things do seem like logical steps to remove our borders with Mexico and Canada). In short, Ron Paul has shined a huge spotlight on government's dealings. For all he does for our Constitution, pay your respects, Sir.

There's the proof of the planned highway which is nothing more than a "conspiracy theory" to the so-called press of this dead nation.

The press/media used to have a very proud tradition of bringing public officials and institutions ACCOUNTABLE for their actions and/or inactions.
Like Dr. Paul said "They've Lost Their Way."
It's so yesterday, non-news and Paris Hilton that the MSM keep shoving it to our face.
They are censoring the GOOD messages of Dr. Paul!

Where did your PRIDE and Tradition go?
Bring back the "PRIDE in TRUE MEDIA and a PROUD Government." That we use to have.

Dr. Paul, a messenger, is the ONLY one with principals and sound solutions in MAJOR issues facing America...

    Mr. Miller:

A Congressman once said ???A billion here, a billion there, pretty soon we're talking about real money.??? How true, and how sad for we, the taxpayers.

How's that inflation and petrodollar plunge treating you? So you think this bankrupt nation can afford Obama's or Hillary's socialist domestic programs? Those programs already consume almost 2/3rds of our budget! Any end in sight?

The GAO said we'll be insolvent as to anything but interest payments to Medicare/Aid and SS by 2040! No more Federal programs of any kind. No military, highways, FEMA, air traffic controllers---nothing except interest payments. Not even the programs we're paying interest on; but please don't let reality get in the way of cold hard facts....WE ARE BROKE!

So, what's a few billion amongst friends? So what's 13% annual inflation to the retirees? Ahh... as long as we feel good that we "made a change" then, what the hay?!

If we don't cut spending, we're all screwed. The old are getting older and the young are getting screwed. China and Saudi Arabia are getting richer because they fund our $9.3 trillion Dollar debt.

Perhaps your head is so far up someone???s backside that you can't see that this nation MUST reverse course on spending and tighten ALL of our belts or anyone under 50 is screwed. --- But if you want to use a wheelbarrow to bring in your dollars to buy a loaf of bread (a la Germany post WWI) and be a slave to China and the Arab Gulf states.....be my guest.. Dr. Paul is our only hope.

Dr. Paul doesn't say the ???sexy and warm and fuzzy.??? He simply speaks the cold hard truthful facts to save the nation he loves.

He has not wavered. He has never compromised neither his convictions nor honor to special interest even when he stood alone in Congress. In his 20 years in congress, he has a guide, something that many have forgotten or have chosen to forget---The United Sates Constitution.

I and millions like me love and honor him for it!

    Sincerely,

    Abdo Rabadi

    1. I'm 99% sure that the NAFTA argument was proven true in December of 2007 when Newsweek wrote a hit piece and Paul responded. Your article also mentioned the NAU and did indeed try and depict Paul as a conspiracy theorist. My guess is, while Ron Paul seems down, the you think it'd be best to discredit him onece again. You know, that's definitely wrong. Here's what one INDEPENDANT, non-coroprate, news source had to say about Paul's response to your last embarrassing show of journalism, "WND worked with Newsweek for a week to provide sources and information, but most were ignored."
    - I suggest Newsweek educate itself with the other congressmen who have spoken out against NAFTA and, while they're at it, try to educate their readers more thoroughly. Ron Paul isn't trying to scare anyone, he's trying to help them. Read that here: http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=59060

    2. I'll let a very intellectual monkey tell you about how that trillion dollar statement is 100%. Once again, Newsweek, educate yourself and your readers. You'd suspect that'd be a responsibility you'd embrace fully, no? Watch this here: http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=2a6_1202596127 (it's sixish minutes, bud).

    3. If you did your digging right, you'd also see that Ron Paul has said that Reagan was a failure. Blasphemy! No. No, not really. In respect, Reagan was a failure because, though he ran on the same platform as Congressman Paul, he didn't accomplish what he set out to do. That amounts to failure. Also, if you also would have done your fact-checking as thoroughly as your readers delusionally think you do, you'd notice that Paul was one of few congressmen supporting Ronald Reagan before he became the "popular outcast", that Reagan eventually went on to endorse his pal (Really, really), and even said this about Mr. Paul, "As a former Air Force officer, he knows well the needs of our armed forces, and he always puts them first. We need to keep him fighting for our country." Now, understand, that a man can factually be a failure, but in reality be a hero. I believe that much like Paul is to me, Ronald Reagan is to Paul.

    4. In incinuating the lovely generalization that Ron Paul's supporters don't know how to work their brains, you clarified to me one thing: You can't write. I hope you get fired for your lies, for your blatant attempt at dethroning the honesty and integrity of Ron Paul, his campaign, and his choice to fight for the Constitution. Understand that he's fighting for the very America millions died for in our original revolution and for the very freedom that even more dreamt of years before the discovery of this nation took place. Newsweek, in having this man as a writer for you, I've decided to regard you as nothing more than a tabloid. Twist the facts all you want, but the truth will always come out for those searching for it instead of relying on, well, tabloids for their information.

Lie Lie Lie, I swear. If you want proof of the NAU, or the Nafta super-highway, look them up in quotes on Google. Its not a fantasy, and it is not some "conspiracy", it is HAPPENING! More importantly it is happening without the consent of the American people. Ever wonder why we have been so lax over the past few years on maintaining our southern border? Why the liberals have been demonizing large dogs and guns? It's because they know that most Americans will not go gently into that good night, and it is much easier to take over a country if they aren't the BEST ARMED "PUBLIC" ON THE PLANET!!!

Hate guns all you want, and call those of us who believe in the Constitution kooks and paranoids, but we'll be more than happy to fight for you to have a country to hate when they come to take it from you!

BTW Look up "Deep Integration" if you want to know another interesting euphemism for the covert process of making the Americas North to South one country!

Pro-Life, Anti-War. Ron Paul is the ONLY candidate who has this principled consistency. That is the real story. And yet you focus in on some rather obscure aspects of his candidacy in order to blow them out of proportion and character assasinate him with ad hominem attacks. Sorry, that's yellow jouralism, muckracking, and down right unethical. I hope you don't think you actually work for a real news magazine with a real editor, because its obvious to those of us with half a brain that you have an axe to grind and a big party frontrunner to support. Go back to journalism school please.

Much, if not all, of the budget for the Department of State and for international assistance programs ought to be classified as defense-related, too. In this case, the money serves to buy off potential enemies and to reward friendly governments who assist U.S. efforts to abate perceived threats. About $4.5 billion of annual U.S. foreign aid currently takes the form of ???foreign military financing,??? and even funds placed under the rubric of economic development may serve defense-related purposes indirectly. Money is fungible, and the receipt of foreign assistance for economic-development projects allows allied governments to divert other funds to police, intelligence, and military purposes.

Two big budget items represent the current cost of defense goods and services obtained in the past. The Department of Veterans Affairs, which is authorized to spend more than $72 billion in the current fiscal year, falls in this category. Likewise, a great deal of the government???s interest expense on publicly held debt represents the current cost of defense outlays financed in the past by borrowing from the public.
