I think Retired Marine makes some good points. I wouldn't want my doctor's wife to treat my wounds. I'm not being mysoginistic, I just don't think that being a wife of a pres makes you qualified. Plus, I find her sneaky and secretive too. She's an easy target to hate. I hope people riot if the superdelegates end up giving her the nomination if Obama gets more popular vote. It should mean the end of the democratic party as we know it, if that happens.

It was a non denominational school, so says Darkenight, I'm don't think it will meet the criteria of the Islamic law, if that is the case. This will all come out during the general election most likely. There seems to be a lot of confusion, and a lot of distortion of facts it seems to me on this subject.

You are beinf naive. There are no such school in Indonesia which is 88% muslin. The man is a Mohammed.

The worse thing Bill Clinton did was Cheat. Why should people Judge Hillary because of that. Who cares ?
I look at experience and what they are doing now and how that feel about this Country and how can they help make the changes. What experience does Obama have?

    • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 02/14/2008 5:52:29 PM

No, the worse thing Bill die was LIE UNDER OATH and find a way to have his and Hillary's financial records sealed. If I had lied even not under oath, I would have found myself reduced in grade, heavily fined and serving time in Leavenworth. But HE IS SOMEHOW ABOVE THE LAW? And you people have the hypocritical audacity to criticise Bush.

I am happy to be voting in an historic election. My choice is Hilary Clinton for several reasons. First, she has been in and around government for many years longer than Barrack Obama. I listen to Barrack Obama's talk about change and how if we keep the same people in office doing the same things over and over again, why should we expect anything to be different? However, he never goes on to say what he would do and how things would change if he were in office. Its scary to me that so many people would rally around someone with few political accomplishments to speak of, who always talks about change, but never about what the changes would be. Hilary's plans, whether one would agree with them or not, are clear and in most cases substantial. I don't agree with those who assert that Hilary is riding on Bill Clinton's coat tails. In my opinion, not only would we have the benefit of Hilary Clinton's political savvy but Bill Clinton's experience as well. The country during the Clinton administration was prosperous. Times have changed, but I for one would feel a lot safer with the Clinton equation than Obama. I have never voted Republican before, but if the election turns out to be between Obama and McCain I intend to vote for McCain.

Hillary is experienced? At what... screaming hysterically, crying on cue, bashing Bush? Wake up. Hillary is about Hillary. She doesn't care about you, me or anyone other than herself. She treats her secret service agents with contempt as though they are beneath her, she does the same with the military. Throws temper tantrums in the White House because Marines are in uniform instead of in suits... the list goes on and on. She is vindictive and hateful and uses the dirtiest of tactics imaginable in the name of winning. This is what you stand for??? Where is her substance? Where is her experience? Does being the wife of a president (no matter how inept he is) qualify her as experienced? She wants to garnish your wages to force her agenda upon you yet she won't release her information..... She is caught up in scandal and hides her financial information..... What other citizen could conveniently have their records sealed from investigations? You try hiding your financial information from the IRS and see where you end up. Yes, she is such a great candidate since she is obviously above the law and above the rest of us.....

AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR COMMENT IS THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY.(DOING THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS.) I AM PERSUADED TO BELIEVE MRS. CLINTON DOES EVERY THING EXCEPT HER JOB(I.E. MONICA LEWINSKY) AND THEN LET OTHERS TAKE THE BLAME. P.S. MRS. CLINTON VOTES FOR THE REPUBLICANS AS WELL

    @ lashelle
You are entitled to your opinion on Barack. But many of your facts are just wrong. He's never been a Muslim--he spent part of his childhood living in Indonesia, a generally Muslim country. But he's Christian. He's not hiding his faith in any way. And he was born in the United States--he was born in Hawaii, as was I. Despite the distance, Hawaii is part of the United States. And although Obama has admitted to trying cocaine in his youth, that's a far cry from being a "cocaine addict." At the very least, he's been very up front about his youthful foibles, which is very unusual in politics. Remember, Bill Clinton "didn't inhale."

You can check out all his various policies and positions on his website. They are extensive, and cover many of the areas you are concerned about.

Every candidate has a speechwriter, as does every president. And yes, they teach you how to speak and write well in law school. How is that a bad thing?

I'm struggling to understand how you believe Obama doesn't "understand what it is to be 'black'". How is he supposed to act, or be, and what exactly is he supposed to do in order to satisfy your idea of being "black"? I just don't get it.

I can understand when a voter takes a hard, critical and informed look at both Clinton and Obama, and chooses Clinton. But the kind of half-truths you use to justify your decision to vote for Clinton as, quite frankly, disappointing. And it's this type of thinking that is the biggest obstacle this country is facing in its struggle for growth and respect.

And where do you think the money will come from? You and I will be paying for it through higher taxes. It is very easy to come up with these high dollar plans using OPM (other people's money). There is no change going on. Every US election has had that same theme... CHANGE... yet it doesn't. We still over spend. There is no uplifting news here with these candidates

JUST BECAUSE HIS HAIR IS NOT BRAIDED NOR DOES HE HAVE BABY MAMA DRAMA DISQUALIFY HIS APPLICATION TO THE BLACK EXPERIENCE. THE BLACK MAN'S JOURNEY IN THIS COUNTRY IS PRACTICALLY THE SAME AS EVERY MAN: KEEP WIFE HAPPY, RAISE RUG RATS, AND TRY TO HELP AS MANY SCEPTICAL EGOMANIACS AS HE CAN. (I CAN'T RECALL THE BOOK, CHAPTER, AND VERSE)

So you must have a copy of the "OBAMA'S NOT MUSLIM101TEXTBOOK" also. You are really foolish if you believe it. He is most certainly muslim and his so called "conversion" was for political purpose. In addition his "church" is about as far removed from Christianity as possible.

      HUSSIEN OBAMA IS MUSLIM.

I afree that the only reason Bush hasn't been able to implement changes is because he is being stonewalled by democrats. I believe the same thing will happen to Hillary. (By republicans). They are hated that much by the other party. I'm for Obama, and then my second choice is McCain. Is that crossing the party lines enough for you? I agree wholeheartedly that this divisive party crap needs to stop!

I think repubicans are inflating Obama nomination, because he is more asy to efeat than Hillary, I think it's a good strategy... If young voters think with the brain than their hearts will see the what is the truth ad vote correctly... Just analyse the facts!!!!!!!!!

    • Posted By: DUKEDALLAS @ 02/13/2008 8:32:18 PM

THE FACTS ARE, THAT EVERY TIME THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION SENDS ANY THING TO THE SENATE FLOOR, MRS. CLINTON SAYS SURE LIL DADDY.

      • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 02/14/2008 5:31:21 PM

pull your head out from under that rather large rock. The only reason Bush hasn't been able to implement the majority of his plans is because from day one, instead of uniting, the democrats have fought against him (regardless of issue) and have run a campaign smearing him. I've been around a while and have made a few observations. Why is it that when a democrat is in office, he gets the support from both sides (there are small differences of course), but when a rebublican is president, the whole agenda from the democrat side is to stonewall and combat him from the beginning. Makes no sense. Whoever wins the election deserves the support regardless of ideology.... But that is a hard pill for democraats to swallow. Here we have been at war, and the democrats have done nothing from the beginning except take pot shots at Bush when they should be united in the cause. In earlier days this would have been considered treason, but in todays touchy feely political correctness mentality, they get away with it. I choose to exercise my vote for whomever I believe will be best for the country. I don't care what party he/she belongs to. We would be better off if everyone would do the same, but that is just a pipe dream because preach all the liberalism you want, it amounts to nothing because the underlying liberal agenda is "win the election at any cost and if we lose, cry about it and fight against it during the entier administration"

  • Posted By: geniepocket2 @ 02/14/2008 5:24:04 PM

Those who doubt Barack's ability to cross over lines should read Newsweek's article about Obamacans. There are countless others too. Also, for the conspiracy theorists out there who believe the independents are voting for Obama for dubious causes seem to be deluding themselves with their love for Hillary. But, that's just my opinion.

  • Posted By: dtokac @ 02/13/2008 7:53:30 PM

God, can we please stop the Anti-Hillary rhetoric. Why so much hatred for her? Are we so intimated with the possibility of a female president? We're all a bunch of fair-weather hippocrits. Obama is a a lightning rod who is benefactor to the Oprah Winfrey fortune. I can't believe that we 40-somethings, who carry the tax burden of this country, are leaving it up to the Youth vote to decide our future.

    • Posted By: concerned#1 @ 02/13/2008 8:01:47 PM

      • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 02/14/2008 5:23:15 PM

the youth haven't learned to think for themselves. College professors don't teach open mindedness or persuit of the truth. If you disagree with their political agenda you risk failing their class. The youth are only regergitating falacies they have heard over and over again. One day they will hopefully learn to think for themselves

8 years of Clinton experience is why the anti hillary campaign is going strong. She stands for nothing other than to have power unto herself. Obama has no substance but Hillary is nothing but deceit. I have nothing against a woman being president.... simply NOT THIS WOMAN.

It's not that she's female, it's that I don't think she's right for the job. Being an Obama supporter doesn't make me against a female president. One day I would love to have a female in office--just not Clinton.

  • Posted By: geniepocket2 @ 02/14/2008 5:21:46 PM

Oratorey as you put it, should not be underestimated. It can move politics in ways that "substance" from a non inspirational leader can not. I will most likely support Hillary if Obama loses, but I do not believe her experience is as advanced as she says it is, and I'm very worried about her divisive nature against Republicans. I hope I don't have to vote for her.

  • Posted By: rupa52 @ 02/14/2008 5:03:29 PM

As a strong Hillary supporter, i wonder how people can get carried away with oratorey and not substance. Regarding all the white upscale men who are voting for Obama-they are just being MCP, who think women should be at thier beck and call and cannot imagine that an advanced country like US can have a woman as CinC. What about all the third world countries who have had women as presidents and leaders.. Wake up

conservative media? There are only a small few conservative radio talk shows out there. The majority of the media is far left wing liberals, yet they want to silence the conservative shows????? Your main stream media has abandoned Hillary and has jumped on the Obama train.... poor hillary, maybe we should cry with her for more attention.....

    • Posted By: John20008 @ 02/13/2008 8:46:53 PM

Hillary has NEVER governed anything. 15 years of the 35 years of Hillary's so-called "experience" has been as a Corporate Lawyer for WalMart. 12 years of the 35 years of Hillary's so-called "experience" has as the WIFE of a politician. 8 years has been as a U.S. Senator. So, 23 of 35 years, she has not has to make any decisions that impacted people's lives, except when she worked on laying people off while representing corporations. Barack Obama has dedicated his life to public service as a community organizer to help economically devastated communities, civil rights attorney, and leader in the Illinois state Senate for 8 years. Obama now continues his fight for working families following his recent election to the United States Senate. Senator Obama also was a Law professor teaching civic and constitution law at UIC, the #2 Law school in the Nation... meaning He is a Scholar on the U.S. Constitution.

Senator Obama serves on the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, which oversees our nation???s health care, schools, employment, and retirement programs. He is a member of the Foreign Relations Committee, which plays a vital role in shaping American policy around the world, including our policy in Iraq. And Senator Obama serves on the Veterans??? Affairs Committee, which is focused on providing our brave veterans with the care and services they deserve. In 2005 and 2006, he served on the Environment and Public Works Committee, which safeguards our environment and provides funding for our highways.

During his eight years in the Illinois state Senate, Obama worked with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. Obama also pushed through an expansion of early childhood education, and after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama enlisted the support of law enforcement officials to draft legislation requiring the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.

Obama is especially proud of being a husband and father of two daughters, Malia, 9 and Sasha, 6. Obama and his wife, Michelle, married in 1992 and live on Chicago???s South Side where they attend Trinity United Church of Christ.

Barack Obama was born on August 4th, 1961, in Hawaii to Barack Obama, Sr. and Ann Dunham. Obama graduated from Columbia University in 1983, and moved to Chicago in 1985 to work for a church-based group seeking to improve living conditions in poor neighborhoods plagued with crime and high unemployment. In 1991, Obama graduated from Harvard Law School where he was the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review.

I think dems who say they might vote for McCain over Clinton say it simply because they feel that Hillary will be stonewalled by the republicans just as Bush is stonewalled now. It ends us being about domestic affairs not the war in Iraq. In my opinion Obama has the best chance in crossing over party lines, and McCain can most likley do it too. McCain and Obama want positive environmental changes, immigration changes and have good ideas for education too. My fear is that Hillary becomes president we will have 4 years of not being able to get things that are needed passed. That being said, I feel Irag is very important as well, as well as the economy. That's why I am for Obama

  • Posted By: darkeknight @ 02/14/2008 4:52:48 PM

Well, people don't have to worry about voting for McCain because the best democratic candidate will be on the ticket who opposed the war from the start. He will change the mentality that got us there in the first place. And Obama has won more primaries as well as caucuses.

  • Posted By: grav0120 @ 02/14/2008 3:09:40 PM

As a strong Hillary backer, i have heard too many Obama supports say "If she wins the nomination I'll vote for McCain"... Aren't a large majority of Obama supporters behind him becasue of his anti-war speech? Yet they would abandon their party to vote for a man who had publicly said he will stay in Iraq for the next 100 years? Wake up Obama supporters! When Hilary wins the nomination democrats need to unite against a common enemy, the Rupublicans. GO HILARY!! Also, I agree, caucuses are dumb. I caucused in Seattle and was an huge minorty. 17/68 for Hilary. With so many people on the Obama side, even if one wanted to switch they would have had to walk threw a sea of people to get to our small but more enthusiastic group. Without the hype and masses, in a straight up booth vote, I'm sure Hilary would have done much better. Sometimes peer pressure to follow the masses is to much for the weak minded.

    • Posted By: Cliff n WA @ 02/14/2008 3:43:57 PM

My point exactly! Can these people really say they are democrats? At the very least we must question what is going on. . Do people really believe politics can be changed by using the most crass political strategies.
It is obvious loyalty is in short supply

  • Posted By: Cliff n WA @ 02/14/2008 3:33:26 PM

I have always thought Clinton might chose Obama as a running mate but not the other way around. Notice how hard Hillary has tried not to say Barak is not qualified for POTUS. Even though this is her strongest argument. The major issue in choosing a VP is if they could take over in case of assassination. The one sure reason for an Obama win (or even the current competition) is 15 years of character assassination against both Clinton's has worked. The code word is baggage, which directs blame for this elsewhere, but let's be real: You can not have a slogan which implies Clinton is not to be trusted, then have her as a running mate.

  • Posted By: Cliff n WA @ 02/14/2008 2:28:32 PM

    !
After attending the democrat caucus in WA. State I think primaries, not a caucus, best serve the process. Confusion was the order of the day (I was appointed caucus chair) and there was no real debate just personal attacks. Primaries allow more people to vote with less pressure to alter what should be a private decision. Contrary to what Clinton said stumping in Seattle; you do not have to be a registered democrat here, merely a registered voter to caucus. This allows for some less than honorable practices. I heard some bragging about angering republicans in 2000 by attending their caucus to oppose and weaken Bush. After hearing that, I looked for republicans in the room. I can not prove anything, but I did notice some things, especially among those claiming to be uncommitted, that suggested payback. I may be off base to have questioned (in my mind) why a truly undecided would caucus, but these in my caucus only wanted to hear/talk negatives about both candidates, avoided me like the plague and every one went for Obama. Washington also has a primary on Feb.19 which will not count for delegates. I had to call our county auditor and a newspaper political desk to find out the primary would be meaningless yet cost the state $10 million. The newsman said it would be interesting if the primary had different results than the caucus. I like and have always supported my state allowing for independent minded voters, I like to think that is me even though I lean left, but after this experience I will have to rethink. Certainly, the open caucus must go! Parties have the right, even the responsibility, to choose the most viable candidate to represent their issues and ideas.

Comment: I believe this. I know from a Republican who told me last year that they were gathering their base to vote for Obama because they wanted him on the ticket not Hillary. They were going to register as Democrats or Independents just so they could vote for Obama, only to vote for the Republican candidate in November. Please people wake up and smell the coffee!!!!! The Republicans are outsmarting the Democrats again!!!!
