Please don't do it...Microsoft owns three fourths of the world.
Yahoo would be taking away our choices to choose who we(the public)
want as our carrier. By the looks of it, Yahoo needs to stay out of the courts.
While Microsoft has camped out there.

Great!!! I had just made a two paragraph comment about this and just because I forgot to log in, my comment can nowhere to be found now. Just Great, well anyway, I'm a proMicrosoft and to yahoo: c'mon, accep the offer, 'YahMic' sounds good.

For me, the best desicion Yahoo could possibly do is to accept Microsoft's offer. It would be better because if this merger will be pushed through it will post a great competitive environment to Google. I just sense it will become a big hit for 'YahMic'. :-)

Why doesn't government face the real law breakers and anti-trust problems......the oil companies. I also recently had dealings in Tempe, AZ where a company was blatantly committing fraud and all the detectives could say was they wouldn't pusue it. Effectively telling me how to commit fraud in Arizona and not worry about prosecution. The PD's main gripe? Consumer fraud is handled by the AZ Attorney General's Office. The only problem was the AZ Attorney General let's consumer fraud run rampant. However you can bet that the AZ Attorney General will be one of the first to go after Microsoft.

with all of the MS hating going round i find it hard to consider any antitrust here, if MS can aquire yahoo they and google would be in healthy competition not a google landslide win simular to obama over clinton this week

No way should we give Microsoft that kind of credit. The existence of Apple alone is enough to disprove the typewrite/white out statement. Yes, consumers have benefited to some extent by the emergence of a dominant operating system and productivity suite platform. But they have also been harmed by the destruction of many innovative firms that would have stuck around had it not been for Microsoft's illegal conduct. A lot of them never had a chance to get off the ground because VC's wouldn't fund them if there was any chance that Microsoft would perceive them as a threat and therefore destroy them with the same kind of tactics it used to destroy Netscape. Why would we as consumers have wanted Netscape to work directly with Microsoft? Should all potential MS rivals have to face a choice of either working with MS or dying? Does anyone want a Microsoft-branded internet? Not me. MS is not an innovative company. They let others do the thinking and then they either buy them out or just rip off their ideas. And their products -- including Windows -- are usually mediocre, not great.

Microsoft has taken a lot of flake. But if not for them, we would still be typing on a typewriter with white out. I trust Microsoft. Their management style made them successful -- the outside world being their enemy and a goal to defeat them. Isn't that what Mrs. Clinton is doing now? Did Microsoft destroy companies by being anti-competitive or did they really provide the consumer a big benefit? I believe the consumer benefited. Yes, it was sad to see Netscape go but what if they had tried to work directly with Microsoft? Pick your battles wisely, manage well and the company will survive.
