BTW Why does a presidential candidate need to have experience running a business? It is NOT the president's job to RUN the country. It is the president's job to enforce the principles of the constitution and make sure that congress doesn't pass things like national ID cards or an unbalanced budget. It's sad that Americans no longer understand how our own government is supposed to work.

    • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:24:32 PM

But it is ineffective leadership which lets dumb things be passed by Congress and the House. A businessman knows what it will cost to the business for certain expenditures. Apparently, you have never had your own business and had lazy employees suck the life out of your business.

  • Posted By: vilyn @ 02/15/2008 9:15:38 AM

Well I just lost whatever respect I had for Romney. Does anyone actually stand up for what they believe in any more? I will NEVER vote for McCain....... I'm a republican.

    • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 02/15/2008 9:56:43 AM

Then I guess you will vote for defeat. You sound just like the democrats. I didn't get my way so I'm going to fight against the nominee (just as they have been doing over the 8 years of the current administration and blaming Bush for problems created because they wouldn't unite.). I wanted Romney to win over McCain, but it didn't happen. Oh well. Now we have to look at the issues at hand. If we can't unite the cause then we are no better than the democrats. It isn't flip flopping for Romney to endorse, it is a practical businessman move. He is looking for what is best for the country. If you wish to vote for defeat of the US war on terrorism, then go ahead and flip flop to the democrat side and vote away your freedom.

      • Posted By: spongessuck @ 02/15/2008 10:35:10 AM

Except that it is because of the war on terror that we are already subject to unlawful searches at any time, surveillance of our communications, and the snatching up of our private property by the government when they deem it is "for the greater good." No oppressive government has come into power without changing the laws first.

        • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:22:37 PM

Has the government taken any or your private property??? They haven't bothered me at all, so this is just stupid talk. If you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to worry about (unless you let the Democrappers get in the White House (or for Obama to change it to the Black House, or Hillary to change it to the Red-Light House).

        • Posted By: Dan Maloy @ 02/15/2008 3:08:56 PM

Hey knucklhead! First, just what "unlawful searches" are you talking about? Anyone on this post had their home invaded without a search warrant lately? Second, if you don't communicate with terrorists, guess how much worry you'll have about the Gov't trying to catch the very guys that are trying to KILL YOU and YOUR FAMILY? None. Third, the government already could claim control of private property long before the war on terror started....it's called "eminent domain". Go look it up. However, let me guess, you think it's a new evil tactic started by George Bush, right?

      • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:20:51 PM

They also forget that Bush got handed the mess that Clinton caused for his 8 years because skirts were more important than security. He got blamed for the long-term effects of stupid Bill Clinton.

    • Posted By: zonakings @ 02/15/2008 11:24:56 AM

Vilyn, people with your attitude will hand this election to the democrats. Within 8 years we'll have much higher taxes to support the new socialist entitlements and will have 2-3 new liberal supreme court judges. Romney did the smart thing by trying to unite us behind the candidate that will be our nominee. I don't care for McCain, being a Romniac myself, but there was wisdom in his decision.

      • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:18:27 PM

I agree with you here, but stupid people like vilyn are just stubborn and stupid. We just have to hope there are more intelligent people than stupid ones out there. They are probably some of the same ones who are on Welfare and such things and want to make sure the Deomcrappers take good care of them.

  • Posted By: pappala @ 02/15/2008 9:23:07 AM

It is not a suprise for me. McCain and RoMoney have a secret understanding from the beginning. RoMoney has donned the mask of conservatism to split the conservative votes. He influenced the liberal media to project him as a conservative. All along he projected the real conservative Huckabee as a spoiler. But Phoney Romoney is the wolf in the sheep clothing all along. after he made sure McCain stole enough delegates, he dropped from the race. Bought out Media Pundits and psuedo Cons, proclaimed GOP should rally behind Mccain. Inspite the Heavy odds HUCK fought and has proved, McCain's hollowness.
So now the Liberal camp has come up with the Phoney Conman RoMoney endorsement. THIS IS HOW THE LIBERALS STEAL THE ELECTION. If they think the true conservatives were defeated, let them learn a lesson. the conservatives will fight on. They will rise again to lead the country.

    • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:16:24 PM

Sorry, but I can't argue with stupid and that is you....

    • Posted By: Dan Maloy @ 02/15/2008 3:13:51 PM

"Pappala" - I'm sorry, but that's the stupidest thing I've read in these posts. Romney influencing the liberal media? Hello!, the mainstream media generally HATED Romney. Words defy me right now.....

You can vote, too, can't you?

    • Posted By: zonakings @ 02/15/2008 11:21:19 AM

That is perhaps the most ridiculous thing I've read in a long time. Get real.

      • Posted By: pappala @ 02/15/2008 12:19:18 PM

        ZonaKings,
It is not me. You need to get real. I know you love Mitt a lot. But the fact is Romney is a Proven Flip-Flopper and Phoney Conservative. All along his camp accused HUCK as spoiler and ganging with McCain to stop Romney, but the fact is it is romney who has spoiled the chances of HUCK by splitting the conservative votes. Now Mitt&Mac camps are saying HUCK is still acting as spoiler to Mac. But in democracy PEOPLE should have choice to voice their opinion. HUCK stands for that and who ever is voting for HUCK are voicing their stance against the LIBERAL Mac.

        • Posted By: Futurama @ 02/15/2008 1:46:49 PM

TWO FLIP- FLOPERS TOGETHER... QUITE a VALANTINE gift to Hillary and Obama !!!!! ...to be opened during the General Election!!!!

  • Posted By: geromer @ 02/15/2008 9:30:30 AM

I for one am glad that the party is making an effort to unite. Does Huckabee have any other positions other than the desire to change the US Constitution to match his beliefs? Whenever he is asked a question he simply makes a joke and says something like "This good 'ole boy ain't smart enough to stay in the race to simply force a broker convention." Not the person I want to run this country.

    • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:13:58 PM

Let's see... add to that his comment about "no, but I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express" and "I didn't major in math, but miracles"... how stupid is this anyway??? I just don't understand the blind inbred idiots who have voted for him so far. If they wanted a Constitutionalist, they should have gone with Ron Paul.

  • Posted By: tcran001 @ 02/15/2008 9:33:03 AM

Wow, what great big spins people can put on a person's motives. The fact is that we must stand behind our nominee, even if we don't line up all the way. Until the election process changes, republicans must go with their nominee. Romney is smart, he knows when to cut his losses. Huckabee is not smart. He is wasting time, money etc, maybe he just wants to play some more guitar on tv. He is out of touch with America, he wants to make the bible the constitution, the bible as he understands it, which means not accepting people not of his faith, and demeaning people who have different values. Get a clue southerners, a president must is called to unite and strengthen, not to divide and ridicule. Goodbye Huck, wise up south!

    • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:11:09 PM

You put it very nicely. Thank you and I totally agree.

    • Posted By: zonakings @ 02/15/2008 11:20:01 AM

      AMEN!

  • Posted By: speedzzter @ 02/15/2008 9:34:32 AM

Stripped of all the spin, the bottom line for Romney's sudden endorsement was that Mitt hates Mike Huckabee and the true conservative wing of the GOP more than he disliked McCain.

Of course, for a career flip-flopper like Romney, such a sudden change in direction shouldn't surprise anyone.

    • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:10:00 PM

Huckabum supporters have to say something, don't they?? Romney is a true statesman and these so-called Christians are a bunch of hypocrits and self-righteous unintelligent inbred idiots.

  • Posted By: Dr. Dave @ 02/15/2008 10:06:24 AM

    How appropriate,
    Romney endorses McCain,
    One political whore supporting another.
Don???t worry folks, it???s only our country being sucked down the toilet.
Heck, We all have more than enough money to support a never ending war.
We all have more than enough money to support countries other than our own.
We all lack the intelligence to make our own decisions so we???ll let the media do it for us.
Sorry boys, and girls, I???m out of money. The country is out of money. Too many people have had their hands in the cookie jar, and there isn???t so much as a crumb left.
McCain was one of those with his hands in there. Now Romney is rewarding him.
I think the people that voted for Romney should have the right to rescind that vote and choose some one else. You???ve let the media tell you who to vote for now Mitt is selling your vote to McCain. I would be pretty mad if I was you. Demand to choose another.
Raise your voices and protest his choice. It wasn???t my choice to support McCain. I???m not going to start now by default.

    • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:08:23 PM

Hmmm... so you must disagree that he is a statesman. What a fool you are. I was sick and threw up, but then I wanted to understand what is going on, so I studied and listened. Romney is a true statesman and loves America and acted on behalf of the greater good, not for personal gain (like Huckabum, the guitar playing baptist Christian????? who is in it for himself, excuse me.....)

  • Posted By: Ruggercop @ 02/15/2008 2:54:22 PM

Good of what Party? Romney and McCain both show that it is not the Democrats who surrender to terrorism, but Republicans. Bush let bin Ladin escape (it doesn't matter if CLinton did too -- Bush had more reason to DO HIS JOB). BUsh refuses to condemn the Saudis whop funnel millions of dollars to al Qaeda. Bush refuses to demand that Pakistan stop the open border that allows al Qaeda and Taliban terrorists free passage. Oddly enough, Democrats have been voacl in stopping these lifelines to terrorists, only to be blocked by Republicans who prefer we spy on our own citizens instead of the terrorists. I'm a Republicans, and I would vote for the Republican candidate, except there isn't one in this field of liars and partisan hacks.

    • Posted By: Ummm... @ 02/15/2008 3:06:24 PM

I understand the frustration.. not sure you understand where Obama/Billary stand on the war compared to McCain. If you really belive that a democratic ticket would be beneficial for the fight against terrorism, you are influenced the the liberal media or really are a Democrat.

  • Posted By: capnmoroni @ 02/15/2008 10:16:43 AM

I for one applaud Romney's decision to endorse McCain. Personally, I would have liked to see it the other way around. I believe that Romney would have made an incredible president, whereas McCain will make a passable one at best. But it is obvious to me that Romney is willing to compromise for the greater good. What's more, he has sacrified what he wants personally for what he believes will help the United States the most. He is a true statesman and a gentleman in a time where such things are rare. I only hope that our country will be ready to accept a president like him in four years, and that he will still be willing to run.

    • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:05:08 PM

I am with you in the applause for Romney and agree that the other way around would have been better for the country, but Romney would have been bashed so badly because he is an honorable man. I think we have to trust his decision and watch the outcome. I so respect and honor him and hope the country as a "majority" will get some brains and discernment along the way.

  • Posted By: RJLigier @ 02/15/2008 10:29:45 AM

Mitt Romney is a Rockefeller (LGBT) Republican. By endorsing McCain, he has successfully marginalized himself for any further role within CPAC, but knowledgeable observers expected no less. The LBGT Republicans couldn't stack the three branches of government with neurotic legal professionals, but make no mistake about it......neurotic legal and medical professionals from both sided of the aisle are wiiling to collude to normalize neurotic behavior ("borderline caretaker environbments"') paraphilias via gay marriage and civil unions regardless of the well established statistical data pursuant to psychological harm to
children from the social experiments conducted in Scandanavia. Liberal fascism will not be far behind
    if they are successful.

    • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:02:57 PM

I pretty much agree. Democrappers are actually Socialists on the edge of Faciast/Communist.... read you history people if you think I am full of it.

  • Posted By: green eyed monster @ 02/15/2008 12:26:09 PM

Here is the deal. Do we want a full democrat or a half republican. Romany had to prove he is a team player and not just a rogue businessman only interested in personal ambition as Hucklephony is proving now. Hucklephony loves the limelight and loves Hollywood. He is on a total ego trip causing McCain to spend more time and money on the primary, which is sorely needed for the general..I do not like McCain, but the policies of bigger government, higher taxes and softness on immigration and national defense is what we will definitely have with either Democrat and possibly for eight years. We need to come together, suck it up, hold our noses and be part of the process. One a republican is better than a full democrat.

    • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 3:00:23 PM

I like you... keep after it because you are right (and correct).

  • Posted By: green eyed monster @ 02/15/2008 12:38:57 PM

All the same people who say Romney flipped again by supporting McCain are the same people who would say in two months "Romney sat on the sidelines, he took his toys (delegates) home because he was mad and could not play in the big leagues. A spoiled brat etc etc. He is paying his dues, he is supporting the republican party, and doing what is best for the country. Can you people just stop, take a breath and leave the guy alone. Hucklephony is the assh**e,, He creeps me out totally, and guess what I would still vote for him if he was the nominee. I would lay outside the voting booth barfing my brains out but I refuse to not have my vote counted because I am sooooo Madddddddd at everyone. GROW UP. Stand on principle everyone and get rolled over by the dems.

    • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 2:59:03 PM

I agree with you here... sick 'em ....

  • Posted By: Futurama @ 02/15/2008 1:28:16 PM

I think that Romney endorsed the WRONG candidate..he shuld have endorsed HUCKABEE instead of liberal flip flop McCain thus forcing him toward the consrvative right......or is Romney seeking the Vice Presidency?? Something really smells here by his endorsement of his ARCH-ENEMY....

    • Posted By: halftime @ 02/15/2008 1:34:24 PM

I think right wing conservatism is unfortunately on its way out, of course you can always move to Iran if you miss it to much.

      • Posted By: Futurama @ 02/15/2008 2:02:32 PM

Sorry Halftime...There are no conservatives in IRAN ...you go

        • Posted By: halftime @ 02/15/2008 2:14:33 PM

I don't have enough money, all the rich conservatives keep taking it and not trickling it down to me in spite of all the revenue I generate for them in my full time skilled trade. Maybe you can have a talk to hem for me?

          • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 2:54:15 PM

Comment: Hey, halftime... if you don't have enough money, you are not performing a good enough service for your fellow humans. This is America and anything is possible, but you have to "work" for it and be of service to others in order to have it come back to you. I raised 4 kids with no child support and no public assistance because I knew it was my responsibility and not anyone else's. Get off your entitlement mentality horse and get to work.

    • Posted By: NevadaRedhead @ 02/15/2008 2:53:01 PM

Huckabee cannot run a country by playing the stupid guitar. Get off the baptist preacher bit and get on to reality.

  • Posted By: Ruggercop @ 02/15/2008 2:49:23 PM

How funny! McCain was a threat, but the Democrats, who have repeatedly pointed out that Bush's war was encouraging, rather than discouraging, terrorist attacks are the ones to surrender to terrorism. Despite the fact Bush has repeatedly failed to condemn Saudi financing of terrorists, which Democrats have deon. With Bush refusing to criticize Musharaff for not doing enough to stop terrorists freely entering and exiting Pakistan, as Democrats have done. And Bush continues to refuse to devote the resources to tracking down and killing Osama Bin Ladin, as has Mr. McCain, but Mr. Romney, the hypocrite, continues to sell our Party and our Country out for political expediency. I'm a Republican, but I won't be voting, because there are no Republicans in this race. Only political opportunists.

  • Posted By: maries @ 02/15/2008 2:39:22 PM

No matter what Romney would have made a good president thats what the
Republicans were afraid of....He wouldnt accept the old politcs and would have had a more acccountability of congress and the Senate......They love spending and promising, but when its over were back to square one and what will the tell you when things cant get done well it was the fault of the other party...And guess what we will accept it as we always do.......So this is the year to make change...Lets see if the independents are as strong as i think......Change

  • Posted By: cyhunter @ 02/15/2008 2:33:30 PM

I am surprised that our preacher turned polititian Mike Huckabee cannot draw the biblical comparison between himself and Mitt Romney . Remember the story of King Soloman when two women were fighting over which was the mother of the baby and Soloman said he would have the child cut in half - one woman instantly said the child was not hers - and Soloman knew she was the true mother. Mitt Romney knows that the party must unite NOW if we are to be ready for our opponent in Nov. He has enough love for the party, the future of our country and the values we represent to step aside and let the "baby" live.. I was uncommitted before, and not really considering Romney. This has helped me to see both him and Huckabee in a different light. Romney is the true Republican, the true American - and so it seems, the candidate with true Christian values.

  • Posted By: akarmenia1 @ 02/15/2008 1:53:01 PM

Oh and by the way - right wing conservatism is NOT on its way out. If Huckabee has done anything right (and that is debatable), he has effectively communicated that the far right/evangelical voters will NOT be ingnored.

    • Posted By: halftime @ 02/15/2008 2:07:38 PM

I do believe it is on the way out, all you seem to be talking about is a minority who is valiantly trying to be heard but its old hat. Religion is a one trick pony that in the end { at least in the western world} succumbs to the desires of the more forward thinking general public, i.e. witch burning. You do have to respect the vehemance of that minority though, no matter how misguided.

  • Posted By: bethidee @ 02/15/2008 1:55:51 PM

Two weeks after declaring "Washington is broken and John McCain is part of the problem", Mitt secures a backroom deal and performs his greatest flip-flop of all. I guess it's not terribly surprising, but I wish the GOP brass understood that people are tired of politics as usual, and sickened by this type of insincerity. Romney is the most artificial politician seen in recent years, and he just proved it. I hope his delegates flock to support the ONE authentic Conservative- indeed, the one authentic PERSON- left in the race: Governor Mike Huckabee.

  • Posted By: akarmenia1 @ 02/15/2008 1:51:43 PM

Huckabee supporters say that Romney did something wrong by announcing his support of his arch-rival and that he should have supported Huckabee. But the forget that Romney's other arch-rival was Huckabee himself. Indeed, that is the only reason Romney lost - he had to fight both Huck and Cain.

Romney is the ONLY true stateman in the race.

    MITT 2012!!!!

  • Posted By: atonc @ 02/15/2008 1:25:29 PM

I wish and every one I talk to wishes Mitt Romney did not bow out . I think we are all in for a rude awakening.
