Please God Let This Happen Before some other idiot comes on a campus and decideds to kill some people. Put it like this would you like to be armed with a gun or a telephone in this event because yes the police will get there, but they will take photos of your dead body. If i have to i will carry my gun on campus, because id rather face 12 than be carried by 6.

I have a CCW permit. Just to obtain that permit I was "properly qualified, trained and tested, to act as protectors and deterrents" as spiritguide suggested. Why can't I carry my pistol on my college campus when I can everywhere else? I mean, the grocery store is OK, but across the street in a building I have a right to be in is suddenly illegal? Myself and a few more like me could stop these mass shootings on college campuses REAL quick. I'm carrying anyway - why not allow me to also carry somewhere where I could make a difference and save lives? Just being "afraid of guns" isn't a rational excuse anymore people.

Here's an idea... How about passing legislation which allows active duty or honorably discharged military personnel to carry concealed weapons on campus and public funding for their higher education? This will thank many of those who risk the ultimate sacrifice, providing them future opportunity, while enabling them to continue their endeavor to protect the people. Oh, and it may protect other students by deterrent or reduce casualties using their past military training and experience.

As a resident of killeen who lived about 4 blocks fromLubys I would like to point out a downside to conceal carry guns.. My neighbor carred a 25 cal pistol in purse and unfortunately her son took it and blew a hole through her other 2 year old's neck. The child was saved to be a heart donor. All this within 5 blocks of the Luby's tragedy! So much for conceal carry.

that lady ,,bless her broken heart was stupid ,,sorry ,,,you never carry in your purse,,ladies hear this ,,never ,,you keep on your person ,in pocket or concealed holster ,too easyto lose a purse ,get one snatched and not handy if you need it beside the risk that cause dthis tradgety,i realize its hard to keep one on your person wearing a thong -bikini,,it would then have to go in the box ,(,the lockable one ) myself and lady have one on us at all times ,never step outside with out it . and we live i n a relative safe rural area..we refuse to be a victim. conceal carry is the answer ,,but must be proper conceal carry.

The issue is not should guns be allowed or not, the issue is the perpetuation of notoriety for this individual or any individual that commits a similar repulsive act. Notoriety provides others the idea that they can also make up for what they must consider a failed life. The public does not need to know this person's name or his motivation. The only result gained from this type of exposure is to supply the next person (and there will be one) some crazy idea that by doing this type of despicable act will make up for all their inadequacies and failures.

I am all for law enforcement agencies and other institutions creating contingency plans and developing possible deterrents from any knowledge gained however, again the only thing gained from releasing the killer???s name is the assurance of future similar events.

I think that the basic requirement for all college students in America seems to be be that they can shoot first and think later. This after all, is a part of the proud tradition and constitution of the United States. It is impressive to see the surge of sympathy and pathos that follows the monthly massacres on America's campuses. . Medication misfits rule! What a sick society you have built for yourselves. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy and commiserations. Your sharp-shooting vengeance- seeking "students'" are exemplary to the scholars of the world ,and explain more than anything the regard in which your society is now held by the rest of us.

Hi in response to the Luby's shooting.. My home was about 4 blockls from Luby's and my neighbor had a pistol in her purse.. The 5 yo got to it and shot her 2 year old thru the neck. A real safe house that was! thank god the baby didn't die (right away anyway) but its life was saved long enough to make it a heart donor. So much for concealed carry!

As a college student myself, I find it particularly offensive to suggest that I could not stop a madman. I feel that every public state funded college should allow its students who wish to get concealed weapons licenses to be able to do so and carry the gun to, yes, the university campus. If this guy had opened fire at my school, and I was allowed to carry a weapon, I would have stopped him. The answer is not more security guards. The gentleman interviewed is correct, law enforcement cannot be everywhere at all times. For those of you who are gun shy, don't carry one. For those of you who don't like it that a licensed and law abiding citizen could carry a gun, write your politicians or move to a place where you can "feel safe." Trust me, some madman would hesitate to open fire if he knew that the students might be able to defend themselves. They are LOOKING for places where they know they can go a shooting spree. Its that simple.
