Comment: Read the article you posted. The Patrick Hamm and Lena Chen scandal isn't the first to hit Harvard and won't be the last. There are allegations surrounding Katherine Shaw MBA 2008/G, and her admittance to HBS.

Comment: Why are people surprised by the dropping numbers or teens having sex? When your very own, personally tailored, fantasy of the moment is available online in a few clicks? Combined with that, think of how teens talk to each other these days. I have been that body shy, rejection averse, late teen or early twentysomething that goes out looking for sex, but I grew up when people used to actually talk to each other. This generation prefers to text and IM rather than talk face to face. Intimacy and emotional connections are harder for them to make much less develop when communication is most often faceless and impersonal.

Comment: "The only times I regret writing the column," says Bromberg, "is when I have to look my dad in the eye."
Cool. Bromberg still respect he's dad, in a way. I think... i'm not sure how to put this. But i think even before the internet times, college sex have been common in western countries, but now it's on papers and other medias. It might be giving negative effects to Asian countries that culture is often againts pre-marital sex., for instance, pre-marital sex getting more common amongst youth in asia/ S.E asia and most think the mass media in partially the reason. But as for westerners, since sex marriage has existed for years, i don't think college sex magazine won't really tempt the students to have pre-marital sex. And after all, they ARE elites and academician. So they should be quite sure of what they want and not change their stance just because of some ero. magazines.

Comment: I'm glad to see that I'm not the only college (male) virgin (I'll be graduating in 2 months). Besides not believing in premarital sex, I want my first time to be with a woman I love. I would prefer to marry a woman who also values her virginity, but that isn't very likely to happen in the future. Most of my friends (girls) are not virgins.

Comment: i understand people's varying reasons for abstinence. for some, it's religious. for others it's fear of illness, physical pain, or pregnancy. and for others, it's not by choice but it just wound up that they were never intimate with someone due to lack of available options.

but who in this day and age wants to marry a virgin? the older you are, the more difficult it becomes to develop relationships if you haven't had sex yet (the best example of this is Steve Carell's portrayal of "The 40 Year Old Virgin"). this is not true of everyone obviously. many people prefer those who've had fewer sexual partners because it means they're less at risk for contracting STD's (pending they've been tested and all is well). but countless women and men who are in their 20's and 30's and are still virgins often feel intimidated and awkward around their more sexually experienced peers, and often have fewer relationships as a result of it. they fear being taunted or that they won't know what to do or say when intercourse arises. that can really damage a person's psyche.

Comment: Comment: American girls have sex as early as junior high. Almost all American girls in college are not virgin. Most American gilrs have many sex partners before and after marriage and very experienced in sexual intercouse.

When you marry an American girl, good luck finding a virgin,

Huh? I am assuming you are a foreigner, acting on bias, or just plain lack the ability to read. Did you not get to the part in the article explaining the CDC statistics show that young American men and women are actually having less sex and waiting longer to do it? Did you get to that part or did you stumble over the article until you found soundbites to bolster your idiotic views?

Keep your mind and your thoughts to your country's population of pure, chaste, wholesome virgins. You worthless bigot.

Comment: Without resorting to needless bickering and name-calling...

The commen about "good luck finding a virgin" does seem ridiculous and dated. I'm sorry, but let's all remember our first sexual experiences...were the mind-blowing/ saw god/ so-in-love...with that one special person you want to be with forever...if so, good for you - you're living American Cinema's dream. But for most people - it was awkward and strange and scary. Who on earth would want to marry a virgin? Someone hampered by their inexperience and insecurities.

The idea that virgins are somehow more desirable and make better mates is a ridiculous falacy perpetrated by chauvanestic, sexist societies that are unconfortable with female sexuality. It is possible to sexually liberated, STD-free and morally virtuous...the more we preach that - the better we'll all be. Sexual drive will NEVER go away in teenagers and college students...we should just teach them to channel it constructively.

Comment: These kids are LYING if they tell you that they are having fewer than 2 partners per year...that's what they tell the researchers...follow the "uncommitted" (no boyfriend or girlfriend) around on a weekend...they drink to excess and sleep with anyone willing.

Girls Gone Wild is a multi-million dollar enterprise - and that's just the stuff they taped....are these kids for real wanting us to believe they don't treat sex as a contact sport where everybody plays.

    • Posted By: summer4077 @ 02/20/2008 08:13:07

Comment: Oh yeah, that's right. All uncommitted people are vile, reprehensible creatues that foam at the mouth and live only to root out vodka and sex. Please. Not one person I know acts like that. Yes, there are people who go crazy and do stupid stuff, but the majority of college age people are NOT like that. We work part or full time, go to school, study, hang out with friends, see our families, etc. Just because a few nasty people with no respect for themselves are willing to bare it all on video, don't lump us all into one category.

      • Posted By: DKE010 @ 02/20/2008 13:22:14

Comment: A common source of biased information is putting a lot of weight on the things that one experiences directly without giving any weight to other points or view or information. Just how many girls/women are involved in "Girls Gone Wild" compared to the total number who go on spring breaks each year. Watching a lot of porno and acceptable porno distortions ones views about who does what, for what reasons, etc.

      • Posted By: mlmiller83 @ 02/20/2008 10:10:43

Comment: I think people need to realize that sex SHOULD NOT BE TABOO. It should be treated as a normal, healthy part of any adult life - and anything that helps to educate and promote healthy sexuality in GROWN ADULTS - which college students are - is a good thing. A puritanical view of sexuality, confused and twisted by a perpostereous sense of "sexual morality", hurts our nation's children and adults. We need to teach teenagers and college students that sexual experimentation is NOT a bad thing - it just needs to be handled safely and maturely.

There will always be people wanting to parade their sex lives around, and take strange pleasure in the attention - and that is their choice and they will have to face the consequences. But I think overall - magazines like this, that celebrate sexuality rather than trying to bury it in needless shame are a good thing. Kudos to those with the courage to publish them.

          Comment: mlmiller83,

While I agree that sex is part of a normal, healthy adult life, it's hard for me to agree that kids need to be taught it's OK to experiment.

I don't know about you, but I will never look my sons and daughters in the face and say, "Yeah, go sleep around a bit, just be safe!" That's crazy!!

          • Posted By: books4me22 @ 02/22/2008 22:52:12

Comment: Based on my experience as a college junior most of my friend are not sleeping around. All the people that I know who are having sex are in committed relationships (lasting greater than 6 months). Sure I know one or two people who sleep around and hook-up, but in my experience that is not the norm.
