Dick Morris: Hillary's 'Paltry' Senate Record
New York Sen. Hillary Clinton has been a great Senator for New York - at least according to her fans in the media, who regularly note how hard she works while insisting she's done much for adopted home state.
Baloney, says Dick Morris and Eileen McGann. In their new book "Condi vs Hillary," they blow the lid off Hillary's pathetic Senate performance - a list of accomplishments that are so meager her supporters ought to be embarrassed.
Morris and McGann note: "Hillary has had a total of twenty bills passed since she entered the Senate. Of those, fifteen have been purely symbolic in nature."
Lest they be dismissed as Hillary-haters who don't want to give the former first lady the credit she deserves, "Condi vs Hillary" itemizes Mrs. Clinton's legislative "achievements" (such as they are).
In five years as the most influential Democrat in the Senate, Hillary has managed to get the following laws and resolutions enacted:
??? Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site
??? Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month
??? Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor
??? Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall
??? Name courthouse after James L. Watson
??? Name post office after John A. O'Shea
??? Designate August 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day
??? Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day
??? Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death
??? Congratulate the Syracuse University Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship.
??? Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship
??? Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program
??? Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda
??? Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death
??? Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty.
Only five of Clinton's bills are, according to Morris, "substantive":
??? Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11
??? Pay for city projects in response to 9/11
??? Assist landmine victims in other countries
??? Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care
??? Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the Wilderness Preservation System
Concludes Morris and McGann: "In the face of Hillary Clinton's reputation as an effective U.S. senator, this record of paltry accomplishment is sobering. As much as Alexander Hamilton, Harriet Tubman, and the American Revolution deserve our recognition, one thinks the voters of New York may have expected more of their junior senator."

Comment: As Ralph Nader states about the Clinton Administration and what is to come, "To justify his invasion of Iraq, Bush regularly referred in 2002-2003 to Clinton's bombing of Iraq and making "regime change" explicit U.S. policy.
But it was Clinton's insistence on UN-backed economic sanctions in contrast to just military embargos, against Iraq, during his term in office. These sanctions on civilians, a task force of leading American physicians estimated, took half a million Iraqi children's lives." The Clinton administration is hardly the perfect administration. This happened when HILLARY CLINTON was in office. I would like to think that this is not a Fascist country where we are told its a democracy, but all the while only a few families and a few small elite circles are ruling and will continue to control the masses. Prove them wrong and vote OBAMA in for president!
Have you ever read"The Irony of Democracy"? According to tthis book, the few elite control the masses in order to have a democracy.
Well...of course a "so called" democracy. Even deeper than that....search the term take a look at this website.....http://www.prolognet.qc.ca/clyde/illumin.htm EYEOPENER
The Clintons are a part of that same vein.
GO OBAMA
Comment: Feel free to check these records for yourself; better still, read a little more, and try and stay current before posting assinine comments: Clinton v. Obama on Legislative Experience: Senator Clinton, who has served only one full term (6yrs.), and another year campaigning, has managed to author and pass into law, (20) twenty pieces of legislation in her first six years. These bills can be found on the website of the Library of Congress (www.thomas.loc.gov), but to save you trouble, I'll post them here for you: 1. Establish the Kate Mullany National Historic Site. 2. Support the goals and ideals of Better Hearing and Speech Month. 3. Recognize the Ellis Island Medal of Honor. 4. Name courthouse after Thurgood Marshall. 5. Name courthouse after James L. Watson. 6. Name post office after Jonn A. O'Shea. 7. Designate Aug. 7, 2003, as National Purple Heart Recognition Day. 8. Support the goals and ideals of National Purple Heart Recognition Day. 9. Honor the life and legacy of Alexander Hamilton on the bicentennial of his death. 10. Congratulate the Syracuse Univ. Orange Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship. 11. Congratulate the Le Moyne College Dolphins Men's Lacrosse Team on winning the championship. 12. Establish the 225th Anniversary of the American Revolution Commemorative Program. 13. Name post office after Sergeant Riayan A. Tejeda. 14. Honor Shirley Chisholm for her service to the nation and express condolences on her death. 15. Honor John J. Downing, Brian Fahey, and Harry Ford, firefighters who lost their lives on duty. Only five of Clinton's bills are, more substantive. 16. Extend period of unemployment assistance to victims of 9/11. 17. Pay for city projects in response to 9/11 18. Assist landmine victims in other countries. 19. Assist family caregivers in accessing affordable respite care. 20. Designate part of the National Forest System in Puerto Rico as protected in the wilderness preservation system. There you have it, the fact's straight from the Senate
Dr. Lamont,
Why did you only print the first twenty, there are a lot more than this that she has done. Why do you print only a partial list, please be truthful and while you are at it let us look at some of your candidates facts:
1) Voted to extend NAFTA to South America
2) Voted to let credit card companies increase their fees to 30%
3) Voted to increase student loan rates & fees
4) Voted to give $13 billion to one of the industries he is trying to stop (nuclear)
5) Voted to suspend troop withdrawal
Please explain these to me?

"This is a homeland-security sort of bill that America urgently needs to become law."
-Martin Schramm, Scripps Howard News Service Columnist, 12/06/2005
Stopping Nuclear Terrorism
The greatest threat our nation faces is a nuclear weapon falling into terrorists' hands. The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed 650 cases of illicit trafficking in nuclear and radiological materials worldwide between 1993 and 2004. As little as four kilograms of plutonium - about the size of a soda can - can potentially be enough for a fissile nuclear bomb.
Senator Obama passed legislation with Senator Lugar to prevent weapons of mass destruction from being smuggled across the globe. Signed into law in January 2007, the Lugar-Obama initiative will help other nations detect and secure weapons of mass destruction before they ever leave their borders. Senator Obama also worked with Senator Lugar to successfully restore $8 million in budget cuts to the original Nunn-Lugar Initiative.
Project Vote Smart
I guess this goes to show you how two faced he is. Why then did he vote to give over $13 billion in subsidies and tax breaks to the oil, coal & nuclear industries. He wants them to grow even larger but then tries to stop anything nuclear from happening? Please explain this?
Jrmapu after reading your comments it is obvious you are not AMERICAN. The statements you make sound like you never lived here. ARE you CANADIAN? or perhaps pakistani or Bangladesh.
I wish to ask a question please, why is it that every time I switch to MSNBC all I here is how can Clinton STOP Obama, is this the stand that MSNBC has taken, or just the personal views of those on the air. Please respond.
Thank you, Herb Hall, Holton KS.
I've also seen it on PBS. They even ask what advice they would give H. Clinton.
Times columnist Andres writes. He adds that, "despite her reassuring rhetoric" that her health care proposal is not a "government takeover" and contains no "new bureaucracy," Clinton proposes to "use the heavy hand of government" to require all residents to obtain health insurance. Her "near-religious zeal to force universal coverage strikes some as odd," Andres writes, adding, "Why compel someone to buy something he or she can't afford?" According to Andres, the "financial penalties for those who fail to purchase insurance ... stirs significant opposition," and Clinton "opened a political can of worms" when she said that she might seek to garnish the wages of residents who can afford health insurance but do not obtain coverage. "Improving health care is a salient bread-and-butter election issue this year," Andres writes, adding, "Compelling everyone to buy a product, whether he wants it or not ... sounds more like a mandate for defeat than a promise of political success" (Andres, Washington Times, 2/14).

I wish voters would look deeper into the issues rather than being influenced by the promises without substance. There has been a cult like following behind Obama and I do not see any substance or reason as why. A comparison on the issues like healthcare and insurance clearly show Hilary's plan is way ahead.
When I compare the issues that are at stake, I do not see any reason as why to support Obama. Just momentum is not a reason enough for me.
Hillary MANDATES that all Americans buy into her ridiculous health care plan and if you oppose it, she plans to garnish the wages of otherwise healthy young adults. I see no reason to vote for a candidate who wants to take money out of the pockets of hard working Americans.
He smarty, the current healthcare system is the one taking money from hard-working Americans!!! Do you know how much money tax payers waste every year paying for un-insured people!!! Yeah, billions!!! She is the only one that cares enough to take an initiative and actually solve this problem!!! Obama and McCain will do nothing!!! So if you want another lame president that gets nothing done, I suggest that you vote for one of them!!!
I just hope Texas, Ohio, and Penn. dont let the media make their choice for them. I am so sick of hearing about the Obama Wave, the media is so backing him for what ever reason. These states need to make their own choices and not let other states or other people vote for them. I am tired of his same old speeches on yes we can, and with no back up on how he can. Hillary has the experience to get us out of the deep seeded hole the republican party has put us in, we cant take a four year chance of cans. It needs fixing right away with someone who knows the hows and whats. Please Texans, Ohio voters and Penn voters, use your judgement not the medias or the big wigs in Washington, vote for your choice!!
Apparently people are making their own choices. The crowds that come to hear him speak is much larger than Clinton's. After they hear what he has to say, they choose THEIR candidate of choice. Let people make their own decisions.
After people go to Obama's rally's they are energized just like the "lost" that go to a religious revival meeting. They are feeling the collective energy around them. It's not what Obama is projecting. Or saying for that matter. No differance between him and Benny Hinn. Just like a Benny Hinn revival these "lost souls" throw whatever money they have at them. These people are no different than the the "sheeple" that helped put Bush in office. Just that they are Democrats. Unbelievable!!! Is this how we will decide our next President at a time like this?

A Commentary by Dick Morris
Who was it that defined neurosis as repeating the same mistake again and again, and expecting a better outcome each time? That???s really what the Clinton campaign is doing in its post-Chesapeake primary strategy. Now Hillary defines Obama as the candidate who makes speeches, while she is the one who provides ???answers??? and ???solutions.???
Why is Hillary embracing this new line? It???s not that she has any great record of solutions or answers of which to boast, but rather that she wants to highlight Obama???s lack of a legislative record. Once again, she and her campaign geniuses are making the same mistake they made when they decided to use the experience as their defining difference with Obama. It???s not that she had much, but they sensed an opportunity to highlight that he had even less.
Of course experience not only didn???t work. It backfired massively. By co-opting the experience tag, Hillary bought into the status quo and left Obama to be the agent of change. A candidacy that could have excited tens of millions of women, the first serious prospect of a female president, became merely a boring part of the status quo, shorn of its novelty.
Hillary???s claim to be the solution-person won???t work either for the same simple reason: She hasn???t passed any...she hasn???t walked the walk so now she cannot talk the talk.
As a first lady, Hillary???s sole important legislative involvement came during the first two years of her husband???s presidency when she sought to pass her ill-conceived health care reform, an effort that failed so miserably that it cost her party control of the House of Representatives for the first time in 40 years. Between 1995 to 1997, she was largely absent from the White House, traveling the world, promoting her best selling book and helping to raise funds. She never attended strategy meetings and her only intervention in the singular legislative achievements of Bill???s administration ??? welfare reform and the balanced budget deal ??? was privately to urge a veto of the former and to oppose the latter because it provided for a cut in the capital gains tax. Hillary returned to the White House in 1998 to oversee the defense to the Lewinsky scandal and the impeachment attempt, but the Clinton administration essentially folded its legislative efforts during those years and hung on for dear life. No portfolio of accomplishments there...
Her only actual legislation included one bill to increase nurse recruitment, another to aid respite time for Alzheimer???s care givers and another to expand veterans??? health benefits, a paltry output for six years??? service.
In her second term, she has spent full-time campaigning for president and has the worst attendance record of the three senators now still in the presidential race.
Amen, brother. This is all beginning to scare me to death.

Many of us have never been to a rally. So, your comment makes no sense.
I totally agree. And the so called Movement. What movement, for change? Movement that we can? Lasttime I know, a movement is about equal justice, civil rights, civil liberties, its not about a person. A movement is about the cause. With millions following Obamas "movement" they are being duped into following a candidate. Poor souls, when the movement is out of office, so does the followers too.

OBAMA 2008!
Wow so much hate. Can you provide proof that she will garnish the wages of those who OPPOSE her? And also that she is a communist? So much hate here. If Obama reads your post he will be ashamed.
You need to think really hard what is is good for America. We are electing a president that will lead the EXECUTIVE (means action) branch of the government, not a foreign diplomat (rhetorics).
Obama is a great leader. I respect you for supporting him but he is not the right person to be the next president at this crucial time.

So Hill is unleashing her attack ads and touted her solution when she can't
even provide solution to her sagging campaign ! If that is all she can provide
to the voters, they will just turn their backs on her. Barack's strongest
weapon is his ability to connect with voters, and her attack ads won't matter
as they can be easily countered as product of a sinking campaign desperately
grasping for straws. Her vaunted experience have been noticeably her
incompetency to cherry pick her fights and exposed her empty promise of a 50
state campaign. Now that she is way off on her way to coronation, she is now
waging a battle on all remaining states. That may be too little, too late and
shows her incapacity to make good judgment as in her Iraq vote ! There goes her
"35 years experience", all in poor judgment.
ummm reality check: her sagging campaign??? She lost some small, republican states??? and she is ahead thus far in all of the remaining large ones??? Hopefully the upcoming voters have enough sense to actually watch and listen to the issues instead of buying into the Obama propaganda!!!

Jus heard Clinton camp claims to win by Super delegates votes despite Barack's lead in winning pledge delegate count. Bill is a well known mulligan of Presidential golf. Hill's attempt at rule
changes in the primary and making excuses for her series of defeat despite the
enthroned establishment support, makes her another mulligan. Thus I'm now
giving her a new name - Hillary Mulligan Clinton.
Texas may pose a potential problem for Hill's Latino support after Patti
was replaced by Maggie as some Latino officials here in NY have already come
out questioning it. I wonder if the timing of this move will have a significant
impact on that support. I also wonder if she have thought this revamp very
carefully as she is prune to act impulsively. Is this the result of a demand
from her financial backers ? Whatever, she has no leadership or managerial
experience at all. I can only certify her experience as an Enabler-In-Chief and
nothing more.

Funny how people are already handing the win to Obama, when he is BARELY ahead in the polls!!! Even though if you count Florida, Michigan, and the super delegates, he is LOSING!!! If he gets the nomination, I will not vote at all because I know that between him and McCain I am screwed either way, nothing beneficial will get done and our country will be just as bad if not worse then it is now. Too bad America is full of a bunch of sexist twits that don't know what's good for them, but I am sure that you will be the same one's crying, I didn't know and we had no good options in the general election??? All of you voting for Obama, all I have to say is, you deserve what you get!!!

One last point, it's really easy to pick apart someone that is speaking on the issues and has a long history of action whether you agree with everything they have done or not. It is much harder to tear apart a candidate with not a whole lot on his record that is not commenting in detail on ANY specific issue. I am much more weary and skeptical of the second and I think if you have half a brain, and are voting for some other reason besides you're black and/or Oprah told you so, you would be also!!!
If you had half a brain , you'd know his issues are clearly stated on his website. No candidate stands there and comment on every detail. You should not vote for someone because they are a woman or man either!
If you had half a brain, dear Time for Change. Obama's website misleads and factually lies. FACT: He rewrote his bill to mandate nuclear power companies of notifiying authorities to report nuclear wate. They do not have to. In fact Exxlon was the company that dumped nuclear waste in the river in illinos for years. Instead, he got money $200,000 worth to run for President. So much for the No Lobbiest campaign. He is a snake oil salesman, and you have bought it hook line and sinker. You are a fool!! Big Corporate media lead you down the path. Haaa Hasss

Hillary Clinton Goofs Again
Yet you cite no proof. Typical Hillary supoorter whining , again!
WE'LL SEE WHERE THIS COUNTRY ENDS UP
As Ralph Nader states about the Clinton Administration and what is to come, "To justify his invasion of Iraq, Bush regularly referred in 2002-2003 to Clinton's bombing of Iraq and making "regime change" explicit U.S.
Obama is like a cult he has young people following him like he's an idol they are idolizing him and that's not good. Why not give a debate to Hillary in Wisconsin Obama???? Because he is only for speeches that's what these followers like. Bill Clinton and Hillary and Chelsea are doing wonderful things for us and I believe Hillary will take over the White House and clean up Bush's mess that he made!!!! That will be horrifying to clean that up but she's the smartest woman I know and she'll do it. And also Obama I know I do not want a muslim in charge of the United States of America. Where's the United States flag when you hear Obama speak????? There is none, like Hillary when she speaks that is all you see behind her is the United States flag!!! Amen Gooooooooooo Hillary!!!!
Bill, Hillary and Chelsa are doing a wonderful thing for us? What would thank be? You sound just like one of their attack ads. Learn the facts and then try to debate.

OBama' Zip code reminds us of 666. He has 6 syllables in each of his 3 names, esp possibly in his vowel deficient Arabic version: making it a 666. He will bring middle east peace. May be he will be very good with UN and take over its leadership by his rhetoric as well. Let us vote in Obama..
Ok, time to call in the mental health professionals. The "666" people have arrived.
666? THAT NONSENSE BELONGS IN MYSPACE. GO POST IT ON THE BULLETIN MAYBE PEOPLE WOULD LIKE YOUR 666 THEORY THERE

Let's make some things clear here. It's already been established that Obama and Clinton have nearly identical plans for the prominent issues today. So constantly rambling about plans is both ineffective in drawing approval and meaningless in setting yourself apart as an "experienced" candidate. Clinton's constant babble is her way of hiding the fact that she is a polarizing partisan without inspirational oratory. (By the way, I think it's silly to bash Obama for his rhetoric ability after so many people have bashed W. for his lack of). As for being respected by Muslims worldwide, (HolyRoller), I see that as a great asset when peace is needed in the Middle East and around the world. So basically, everyone's criticism of Obama revolves around the fact that he is respected worldwide, is a great speaker, and has much needed diplomatic skills. Yeah, sounds like a terrible person to lead our nation..
LETS WORRY ABOUT OUR COUNTRY FIRST BEFORE WE START MEDDLING IN OTHER COUNTRIES AFFAIRS

After attending my first democrat caucus in WA. State I was disappointed. Confusion was the order of the day and there was no real debate just personal attack. Primaries would allow more people to vote with less pressure to alter what should be a private decision. I am a left leaning independent who would not have participated if I had to commit my vote. It is funny I was appointed and now listed as my caucus chair. Contrary to what Clinton said stumping in Seattle; you do not have to be a registered democrat here, merely a registered voter to caucus.
This allows for some less than honorable practices.
I heard some bragging about angering republicans in 2000 by attending their caucus to oppose and weaken Bush. After hearing that, I looked for republicans in the room. I can not prove anything, but I did notice some things, especially among those claiming to be uncommitted, that suggested payback. I may be off base to have questioned (in my mind) why a truly undecided would caucus, but these only wanted to hear/talk negatives about both candidates, avoided me like the plague and every one went for Obama.
Washington also has a primary on Feb.19 which will not count for delegates. I had to call our county auditor and a newspaper political desk to find out the primary would be meaningless yet cost the state $10 million. The newsman said it would be interesting if the primary had different results than the caucus.
I like and have always supported my state allowing for independent minded voters, I like to think that is me even though I lean left, but after this experience I will have to rethink. I probably would not have gone if I had to register as a democrat. Parties have the right, even the responsibility, to choose the most viable candidate to represent their issues and ideas.

Comment: I believe this. I know from a Republican who told me last year that they were gathering their base to vote for Obama because they wanted him on the ticket not Hillary. They were going to register as Democrats or Independents just so they could vote for Obama, only to vote for the Republican candidate in November. Please people wake up and smell the coffee!!!!! The Republicans are outsmarting the Democrats again!!!!
