It truly looks like Hillary will be defeated. So John McCain will get my vote and probably alot of crossovers. Will it be enough, maybe, maybe not. To quote a person of reason, Obama offers a freshness to all the madness. He is bringing hope to America. Lets see him deliver. I believe he is going to need all the help he can get. Because he is running on empty promises that he has no clue how to deliver. I guess I will have to vote for a person of color next time. Hopefully I can trust that person. And if anyone believes he has been disadvantaged, not even I could afford to go to Punahou School. Totally private, and cost alot of money. a couple questions for you Obama diehards, if he is so concerned as you seem to defend, when the shooting happened did he even go and pay respects to the families of the victims? Hey he went home and it happened in his own backyard (figure of speeceh) perfect photo op to prove he is this considerate human being whom loves his country. Or is his loyalties overseas?
Hey, I'm no fan of Barack Obama -- but one thing we don't need is another politician taking advantage of personal and community tragedies to score the sort of cheap photo-op you insist would prove his compassion. Have we gotten so used to such shoddy, crass, and self-serving behavior on the part of office-seekers that we now insist that they turn shootings into a personal circus to show us all how "caring" they are? Mr. Obama did everyone involved a favor by refusing to play that game -- and don't you ever forget it.

McCain reaches too hard and too transparently to turn everything into a contest about military service.
There is a strutting self-righteousness about McCain that goes hand-in-hand with a nitroglycerin temper. He flatters himself that his colleagues in the Senate dislike him because he stands up for principle, while they sell their souls for pork. Not exactly. He is disliked because on many, many occasions he has been disrespectful, belligerent, and vulgar to those who differ with him.
Bradley Smith, former commissioner of the Federal Election Commission and the leading legal scholar on campaign-finance issues, experienced the McCain treatment firsthand. Because Smith opposed limits on political speech, he was denounced as ???corrupt??? by the senator (as was Commissioner Ellen Weintraub). Smith, who lives modestly, jokes that his wife has complained about the absence of jewels and furs. Though he served on the commission for five years and made several attempts to meet with McCain to discuss the issues, Smith was rebuffed.
The two did accidentally meet outside a hearing room in 2004 when they were both scheduled to testify before the Senate rules committee. At first, McCain grasped Smith???s outstretched hand (Smith was in a wheelchair recovering from surgery), but when he recognized his campaign finance opponent he snatched his hand back, snarling ???I???m not going to shake your hand. You???re a bully. You have no regard for the Constitution. You???re corrupt.???
Smith, a soft-spoken scholar, ardent patriot, and lifelong conservative Republican, cannot pull the lever for McCain. He is far from alone, and that is the Republican Party???s heartbreak in 2008.

As soon as it's a contest between him and somebody with a (D) after their name, anything that appears in the media will savage him. I don't know about you, but when I heard Michelle Obama say that she is proud of her country for the first time in her adult life I knew I'd never vote for her husband Barack. If he doesn't win the Democratic nomination does that mean that they will leave the country? I certainly hope so. Up until this point, I was actually leaning in the Obama direction. Well, that's gone.
Hmmm, another WIDE OPEN area that the media is shying away from investigation but will certainly be dragged out by the Republican's in the General Election:
Where is Obama's sense of patriotism and pride in the Country he is about to lead??? So far, all I have seen is his refusal to salute the American flag, his distaste for the war, and now his wife's assertion that she is not proud to call herself an American?
I am not very patriotic myself, but I have family that is fighting in this war and have fought in past wars and I believe that this anti-patriotism is a direct insult on all of them!!! Even if he doesn't agree with the institution completely, don't disgrace our nation and then ask me to vote for you, forget it!!!
And all of you arguing that Obama will beat McCain, get real!!! If there is one thing that will unite American's quicker then any rock star, candidate for change, whatever, and that is PATRIOTISM which McCain is a symbol for!!!!
Black people their age were born during the age of segregation, extreme racial prejudice and lynchings. Not something to be proud of. Black people who remember the Civil Rights era have all struggled with a bit of a love-hate relationship with America. It's home, and home is the place you love. But what do you do when home does not love you?
You may not want to hear it, but Black people born in that time pretty much all feel the way she does. America has reached a point in her history where her citizens can finally vote for a Barack Obama, not because of or in spite of his race, but because we believe that he is the best person for the job, is something that we can truly be proud of. After generations of the "n" word, institutionalized racism and lynchings (remember, the victims were family and friends, not statistics), it's something to be truly proud of, and that's a new feeling for whole generations of Black people. It's a tremendous feeling of finally belonging to and being a meaningful part of this country. If you are not Black, you are probably not going to understand. But for a people who most of whom will never know who their ancestors are or where they came from, the support for this man signifies a change in the heart of America, and an acceptance that we have never felt before. We never truly thought we'd actually live to see the day when Dr. King's dream of being accepted not for the color of one's skin, but the content of one's character would ever come true.
Admit it: Though we might want to forget it ever happened, America has an excruciating racial history. I was born in a segregated hospital. We've always loved America, and we fought, bled and died for her in every one of her wars, even when America didn't love us back. Now look at us, as we all pull together to come to the rescue of our beloved country. There may always be racism, but even the KKK, the symbol of our own homegrown apartied, is throwing their endorsement to Obama. Who'd have thought we'd ever see that?!! But we all love America enough to grow past our differences and pull together, and that is something we can all be proud of. Try to understand that for Black people, patriotism has been something we've had to keep to ourselves. Too many Black servicemen came home from war only to be lynched in uniform. Now we're starting to come out of the closet at long last. Don't punish Michelle Obama for coming out. It's time we all did.

(There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release of those records.) - As the junior Senator from New York, Hillary has passed no major legislation. She has deferred to the senior Senator (Schumer) to tend to the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems of workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11. - Hillary's one notable vote; supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she has since disavowed. Comment: Record. Now, I would post those of Obama's, but the list is too substantive, so I'll mainly categorize. During the first (8) eight months of his elected service he sponsored over 820 bills. He introduced 233 regarding healthcare reform, 125 on poverty and public assistance, 112 crime fighting bills, 97 economic bills, 60 human rights and anti-discrimination bills, 21 ethics reform bills, 15 gun control, 6 veterans affairs and many others. His first year in the U.S. Senate, he authored 152 bills and co-sponsored another 427. These inculded **the Coburn-Obama Government Transparency Act of 2006 (became law), **The Lugar-Obama Nuclear Non-proliferation and Conventional Weapons Threat Reduction Act, (became law), **The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act, passed the Senate, **The 2007 Government Ethics Bill, (became law), **The Protection Against Excessive Executive Compensation Bill, (In committee), and many more. In all since he entered the U.S. Senate, Senator Obama has written 890 bills and co-sponsored another 1096. An impressive record, for someone who supposedly has no legislative record. . . . My last point: Obama needs name recognition, he needs to be among the people, so people feel like they have access to him. HRC's debate challenge is more about the fact that her campaign is running low on money and she gets free air-time without spending anything. Would you give up the chance to see 20,000 voters up close and personal to be on a televised debate? No way! Obama, stick to your guns. Debate on your terms, not Hillary's! Go Obama 2008!
Comment: Obama has WAY more experience in running government than Clinton does. Clinton was a spokesperson who acted as an ambassador during her husband's term and ran her household (of which she didn't do a good job of either). Even while on Clinton's watch as the senator of New York, terrorists attacked the World Trade Center AND Hillary Clinton sided with the worse president in the history of the United States to launch a FRUITLESS war that has cost us BILLIONS of dollars and THOUSANDS of lives and you would have the audacity to side with an individual whose husband, as the president, was having oral sex with some girl named Lewinsky, and this is who you want running your government? Obama has generations of experience of running policy and running a state. Every child in the State of Ilinois receives FREE health insurance and this is the FIRST state to have such a plan. OBAMA implemented this. OBAMA helped to build the resurgence of jobs in the state of Illinois after the factories and plants shut down. OBAMA implemented strategic plans to put those people who were in those factories back to work and OBAMA IS also working on plans to reform the damage that has come about from the mortgage and lending institututions that have caused so many to be in foreclosure. SO besides running a state, here is a person who has FAR greater experience running government than Hillary. I'm not going to argue with anyone who doesn't want to check the facts. Just know that you will be used by the strong "hand of government", to implement Hillary's plan to garnish and tax all the employees in America WHETHER they can afford it or not. My mention of the "heavy hand of government" was an answer that was PARTICULARlY given by CLINTON regarding how she would FORCE her "UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE" on ALL individuals, ( of which I left reference as to where to check in earlier comments). This was Clinton's DIRECT ANSWER AND WORDS regarding how she would enforce her "UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE PLAN".
