What a strange contest. We have a Senator from NY who was born in Illinois, and a Senator from Ilinois who was born in a manger.

They tried to make me like Obama, and I said NO NO NO.

    NOBAMA! NOBAMA!! NOBAMA! NOBAMA!
Let's all chant! NOBAMA. I see a t-shirt saying NOBAMA in the future.

If Obama is the symbol of a new generation of leadership, I want no part of it. They said the same thing about Bush Jr. he was going to change things. He was going to be different. A unifier. A gentle conservatism. Blah blah blah. Guess where his "new generation of leadership" took us. Obama can take his leadership and shove it. I am weary of wolves in sheep's clothing. Very weary.

    Children don't choose their names.
    Children don't choose their religion.
    Children don't choose their color.
    Children don't choose their gender.
    Children don't choose their parents.
Children don't choose where they're born.

When I was a child, I was afraid of the "Boogie-man" too. As I got older, I saw how people used my fears to manipulate me. Too often, they were people that I trusted.

After I was sworn in the military and pledged to give my life in defense of this country, I quit being afraid.

Blacks have fought alongside whites in every war, since the founding on this country. Our ancestors' blood ran in the very soil of this country.

I've served under white and black generals in our military. They are the best leaders in the world!

If you're still scared of the "Boogie-man" bubba, see your local recruiter.

Obama's political positions are listed in GREAT detail on his website. He has started t to include more of those details in his speeches. So I don't understand the acceptance of the Clinton's argument that Obama lacks specifics. I, for one, find it refreshing to read about a Democratic presidential nominee who is not mired in scandal and cover-ups. Perhaps that's why the Clintons receive negative press coverage--a negative lifestyle does not make for positive headlines. Nor does trying to steal an election or injecting race into the 2008 presidential campaign.

Surprise....yet another pro-Obama piece. It is really amazing how the media will never say one negative thing about Obama. Who is the guy? He is a media sensation and therefore he is qualified to be president. How come his extreme liberal stance is not an issue. How come he lacks specifics about his platform and the media looks the other way? It is really sickening that Oprah, Hollywood, and the media have enough power to pick a president.

Barack Obama is not what everyone perceives. The FIRST TERM Senator considers himself the Messiah. He said it himself. Also, his background is very questionable considering his father was a Muslim and his paternal grandfather a DEVOTE MUSLIM. His middle name is Hussein. His first name, Barack, is an arabic name for "blessed". Considering the fact that Mr. Obama wants to open a dialog with Iran makes him a catalyst, what with his Islamic background, for the prophecies of Nostradamus. We should start calling him 'Obama-geddon'. 2012 is not too far away.

How about this . Check out his Zip code something like 0606 015 or something really reminded me of 666. Then his name each one of his three name has 6 syllables, and consider his name is actually from another language. I am sure in vowel less semitic languages this can be seen a 666.

HolyRoller, its exactly the kind of slash and burn politics exemplified by your comment, and perfected by Rove and Bush, that is propelling Obama's candidacy to such heights. People are sick and tired of this kind of division. Obama will be the next President, but bridging gaps and bringing people together is made more difficult with bigots like yourself out there.

The hand of GOD has not been lifted from this nation as of yet. The American public will not elect an Islamic sympathizer. There is ample documentaion to prove his position on Muslim issues. There is also considerable evidence to strongly suggest Marxist views. There is also ample evidence to suggest questionable campaign funding issues. This is the tip of the iceberg. Heck ya'll are crowning him the progressive messiah and he hasn't beaten Hillary yet. Good possibility he won't either.

      • Posted By: telluride @ 02/16/2008 7:36:44 PM

Is Obama a sympathizer because he has said he will talk to leaders in the Muslim world? Please enlighten me on the evidence. But let me say that the struggle against fanatical Islamism cannot be won by military means alone. The use of the military should be a last resort in this type of ideological battle- that is where Obama is coming from. Unfortunately, the use of the military to go after terrorists invariably kills innocent civilians since terrorists tend to hide amongst the civilian population. These enraged civilians form a fertile breeding ground for additional terrorists, so we need to be smart about how and where we use our great military.

There is a time and a place for military action ??? like Afghanistan after 9/11, but it has to be done wisely. We all know Bush took his eye off the ball when he lied America into Iraq. But its not commonly appreciated that Bush missed the ball in Afghanistan too. His delay in going into Afghanistan allowed Bin Laden to slip away. Obama understands this. In Iraq, Bush ignored the Army's pleas for more troops prior to the war and allowed poor planning of the post-war occupation to sow the seeds for this multi-year mess we're in (check out the documentary film "No End in Sight" - it is not a Michael Moore left-wing rant - the producer/director actually worked for conservative think tanks - its the best expose to date of what really happened). Bush callously placed our troops in harm's way, didn't provide them with adequate equipment and supplies (in part because he assumed it would be a cakewalk). I am former military and currently work in a position that allows me to know a lot of this first hand. But the bozos running our foreign policy since 9/11 don???t get it.

So the real irony in all of this is that the Republican leadership of this nation has made us much less safe today than we would have been had we approached the problem with some of the intelligence that this country used to exhibit.

        • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/16/2008 7:57:16 PM

I know it upsets you to no end-WE ARE WINNING THE WAR IN IRAQ. Tens of thousands of former Iraqi's initially against the US presence are now trusted allies. They have had the first taste of freedom of any sort and like what it tastes like. The rest of the Islamic world is scared that Democracy will spread. Good. Your candidate wants to cast aside these hard fought victories and let thousands if not millions be slaughter, he wants to further de-stabilize nuclear Pakistan, he wants reduced Western influence in the region. Sounds like Bin Laden to me. Sympathizer? At best.

          • Posted By: telluride @ 02/16/2008 8:41:25 PM

No, it upsets me that we went into Iraq at all, especially under the false pretenses put forward by the Bush Administration. Read the neocon literature written in the 1990s. They were itching for the opportunity to go in there, and convinced a weak and supplicant President that this kind of intervention was desirable. 9/11 was simply used as a pretext. The supposed connections between the Iraqi leadership and Al Queda were manufactured by Cheney and Bush in a cynical propaganda campaign that, one year after 9/11, had a large majority of Americans believing that Sadam was responsible for the whole thing, I fear for our republic, because we have been so easily manipulated by these charlatans. We could have finished the job in Afghanistan - what a tragedy this whole thing has been.

            • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/16/2008 9:28:28 PM

You and I have some common ground. I too, believe we should have finished the job in Afghanistan first. I agree the strategy was terribly flawed, I have been shaken at the loss of lives of among the finest of our American men. That being said, I DO believe that Saddam Hussein should have been eliminated from earth. You have to agree to that. Believe it or not , but I have not voted in the last two general elections, because I could not endorse a Bush Presidency. But the fact remains we are where we are, and with the current trend, Bush may be seen as being right on his call. WE ARE WINNING. JohnMcCain '08

BarakStar getting a lot of positive press. If Hillary thinks she can sttop this runaway train she only has two options (1)put in a call for Superman, or(2)play Clinton hardball, quit trying to appear to be politically correct and do what you do best. Go back to basics. The target is very easy to quickly discredit. He is not what he presents himself to be. Expose this young inexperienced, black, white, muslim, black seperatist, recovering drug addict, Islamic sympathizer, etc. etc. If not, bye bye Hillary. The GOP will not flinch. The swiftboats will look like rubber duckies.
