Before you 'highly-educated, high-income' break an arm patting yourself on the
back for supporting BO just keep in mind that the HE/HI's have
not voted for the right candidate the past two elections. Guess we
    can thank you for Bush.

I am so sick of hearing about the Lewinski crap I could throw up! That was a personal issue between husband and wife. Get over it! Old News! But Bush(wacker) could lie and get us into a war and that's ok!?! Wake up and smell the coffee people! This guy acts more like a dictator than a president of the FREE WORLD! Let's get to the issues of Today and not 8 10 years ago! We need Hillary in there to clean up the mess all these Men? have made!

Monicagate was no longer "personal" when the commander in chief committed perjury, for an offense the military fires fighter pilots (after having spent millions on their training). THe Rich pardons (and fortuitous gifts by the happy spouse) are relevant, as the Clinton library donations are still not explained and again in the spotlight by Pres. Cintons dealings with autocrats in Dubai, Saudi and Kazakjstan - getting $11.3 MILLION for "just happening to be in the plane" with a buddy who deals with an autocrat on the state dep. list for his human rights violations... And ROn Burkle's deals can come back to haunt us, too. "Monica-like eruptions, plus the entire record of the past 7 years the secret service under Chertoff is sitting on can become relevant in one second, too... I really do not want that circus back in town. Let's not forget the % of that era that was spent on these distractions while Al Queda was building up. We really do not need this...

      • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 02/18/2008 2:46:25 PM

He didn't commit perjury. That's a tired, debunked right-wing platitude. That being said. Go Obama!

        • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 02/18/2008 10:58:29 PM

If he didn't commit perjury, then what in the hell do you call it? He LIED UNDER OATH. End of story

    • Posted By: Calvin67 @ 02/18/2008 11:06:25 AM

Okay, we won't talk about Lewinsky.... Instead we can talk about Whitewater, Travelgate, Day Trading, military members not allowed to wear uniforms in the White House by Hillary's say so, then there was Trooper Gate, Impeachment.......should I continue or were you referring to Hillary cleaning up the mess from their previous stint in the White House.
Or we can go back to woman and talk about Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, rape accusations.......oh my gosh I'm a little dizzy at the ridiculousness of it all and of people like you who gush over these two who are a pock on our society and who escalated dirty politics to the art form it is today. The favors and paybacks she would have to make if she got into office would make her administration the most corrupt in history. Sadly, after her time we might even look back on Bush in the same way we do Bill CLinton Today!!! How would that be for Irony. Get off your woman for President Horse and your anti-man issues! Men would be fine with a Woman President, we just don't want a "Corrupt Woman President"

I will vote Mccaine over obama as a hillary supporter and here is why. Florda and Michigan are being disenfrancised. (sounds familiar) the media is thwarting this election...oh an wait the replublicans are telling their conservatives to pimp their vote and vote obama. (Is this maybe because the republicans know they have a better chance of beating obama)--check out rush Limb... website --Open your eyes democrates or are you just too blinded by obama mania. If you REALLY think about it you would know Clinton is the better canidate; Clinton can beat McCain and Clinton (if florda and michigan are counted as they should be) would be the democratic nomination.

It seems there are alot of people rallying around Obama. It must be the charisma! Lets all vote for "likeability,"and of course "electability",empty promises and NO experience. He'lllearn soon enough from Ted Kennedy and Co.He can take the oath of office on the Koran and smile for four years in the White House.
The press will certainly help him along and get rid of anyone who speaks out against him like they did with Dan Rather. Too bad noone got upset about Bush---they gave him four more years to get it Wrong. While Obama is learning the ropes we can support another war in Kenya--so what if Americans are out of work and losing their jobs at an alarming rate, dying because they have no health insurance and having to choose between medicine and food ? The politicians have none of these problems. No sacrifices have to be made by them.
The only one who cares and can straighten out Americas mess is Hillary---but Oh My GOD !!! She's a woman and doesn't dare act like one or use the gender card. It's ok though to use the race card however. It sure has been used alot lately !!!
Women in this country have never been able to come out from under the thumb of oppression.Ask anyone of them who have been raped or strip searched for no reason--today in 2008 She was the victim and was treated like the criminal.
But why am I getting so upset ? It seems the "super delegates" will override the our votes along with the DNC (florida and Michigan )for whoever they can get the most favors from.It has worked in the past two elections. Maybe the Supreme Court should step in again and appoint the presidency instead of sticking to judicial business.
Are men so afraid of a woman being smarter than they are that they will go to any lengths to keep them fromhaving a political position ? Come out of the dark ages and cave man tactics guys. We are smarter than some of you who think brawn is mighty. Men have really screwed up this government and sold America down the toilet. It will take Hillary Clinton to get us out of the garbage land fill and make amends with the other countries around the world. It won't happen overnight since so much damage was done over a four year period. Obama won't do it at all. HE doesn't know how !!!
Think about it,almost eight years, nine trillion in debt wasting a surplus formed by Bill Clinton, borrowing money from China to pay for tax cuts, and oil.We have enemies all over the world, not to mentionforeclosures, nothing made in America, toxic toys food and illegal immigrants etc.And all of it a BIG secret.
Wake up America--Obama will be just another political pawn to do the bidding of the male dominated government we have right now.We need a change alright--- a female called Hillary Clinton.

    • Posted By: EruKhan @ 02/18/2008 1:08:33 PM

Wow its like you know a bunch of facts but put them in a way that sounds bias, laughable, and childish. Reading your comment shows the truth. they say Barack's supporters like him because of speeches or because he is black. It shows here that Hillary supporters really support her because she has a vag.

      • Posted By: Dixiechick @ 02/18/2008 2:29:10 PM

        To EruKhan
You sir are a pig putting it mildly. You are correct at least you admit I have a bunch of FACTS. I have been voting long before you were even born. I have witnessed alot of elections and never saw such crap flow out of the mouths of such as you.
What gives anyone the right to use filthy phrases such as "was thrown at Chelsea Clinton. You hit it right on the head --it was because she is a female and a Clinton. As much as I may like or dislike any candidate I would never use their children as a target. Your mouth should be washed out with soap. Perhaps you hate all women and if that is the case you need a shrink.
Laughable and childish? Lying about taking us on a witch hunt for oil and lying to the American people about it doesn't deserve impeachment ??? I don't condone Nancy Pelosi for taking impeachment off the table and giving Bush a blank check either. I don't think I am bias. I think you are.
I don't care what color Obama is he is not the person for the job !!

        • Posted By: EruKhan @ 02/18/2008 3:09:19 PM

And as a woman, people like you and Hillary Clinton have done more to hurt women and america than you have helped.

          • Posted By: Dixiechick @ 02/18/2008 10:50:20 PM

Hurt America ? It must be my imagination. I could have sworn that it was women who were kept from voting. women who are raped, women who are murded by serial killers (excuse me there was one serial killer that was a woman who did kill men). It is always women who are left without proper income due to the low pay rate compared to men doing identical jobs. It is women who are stalked and treated like second and third class citizens. Sometime they are ranked behind the family dog. Women were treated as chattles with nowhere to turn for help until recent years (it was ok to rape your wife ).
I am not a feminest as you discribe the word,I am just looking for so called American justice without prejudice because we are women. If you are indeed a woman you would understand that.
Hillary is being discriminated for that very reason ---being a woman.
The word "pimp" may have a new meaning to you but the true implication was there. This election is in dire need of respect for all parties not just a select few like Obama simply because he is a good orator.Speaches made by someone other than himself doesn't make him smart or experienced.

You'd vote in Brittany Spears if you thought it would get a woman in the White House. The tone of this article is a once again condescending in its treatment of the Clintons. I don't care if there is a love affair or a hate affair between the media and the Clintons, the news should be about events - not opinions and it certainly should not be about the various media representative's egos. I think the gender bias, the Clinton bias, and the overt love fest surrounding Obama has been disgraceful and has left me wanting for a real news source in this country.

    • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 02/18/2008 10:35:29 PM

Do you 'high-educated, high-income' individuals that are straining yourself patting your own back really think that the Right Wing media is favoring their coverage toward BO because they think he is the most qualified!! You HE/HI's are the same ones that put Bush in office, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_states_and_blue_states.
    Some additional thoughts:
    - how many of those 'thousands' attending his 'inspiration' rallies(can we vote for a speechwriter?) are Republicans?
    - how many attending those primaries/caucuses are Republicans voting for who they want McCain to run against? In some states you don't have to follow party lines when you vote in the primary!
    - who actually is represented at a caucus where you have 1/2 hour to vote, starting at 7 pm, on a snowy night with Obama folks running every facet of the vote?

We all remember Whitewater, but no one knows about Obama's Rezko a guy that helped him purchased a home and land he couldn't get/afford to expand that home, now presently indicted (poor judgment for a next president to say the least). Or how about his flip flop on Yucca Mnt (I'm sure the donations from Exelon had nothing to do with it). Or the fact that his words are as authentic, as Monopoly money. But I guess I missed all of those stories that tell the real truth about this guy, from reading about the many dissertations about Change, Change, Change, and more Change.

Well for what its worth, today I signed up to support the Obama camp. Of course I don???t agree with everything he says but I feel he is the best choice for America. I was an Edwards supporter even though I didn???t agree with his Iraq policy because of a pullout that was so fast it was dangerous. If Clinton does get the nomination I will end up backing her. For the most part their policies are very similar but when I hear of people who wont join McCains staff because they like Obama and wont go negative on him it speaks volumns about Obamas character. When Colin Powell says great things about Obama I listen. I don???t want to take anything away from Hillary, I admire her for her command of the facts. She is extremely intelligent and is capable being the President. I like how Obama has energized the youth. I realize that when I was young I knew everything just like they do now, but its good for America that they are involved. Heck I remember going to hear Mcgovern and never understood why he lost.. But I regress. I really liked McCain, a hero that put America first even if it went against his party, a person that would do the right thing.. BUT he has sold his soul to the right wing trying to get votes. He is doing the same thing the first Bush did. The first G Bush is an honorable man but was unable to cope with the problems of the economy because his hands were tied by his promises to the same group.
So anyway lets get to Obama??? I consider the biggest threat to Americans is the national debt, looking at his policies he agrees. The only way we can fix this is with spending cuts and tax increases. I don???t like tax increases but right now every man woman and child owe over $30000 each for our almost $10 trillion debt. Everyone should look at this http://zfacts.com/p/318.html to see what the extreme right wing does to this country. I did like Edwards health care plan better but Obamas is a step in the right direction. I do not like Obama saying that McCain wants us fighting a war for 100 years.. I think this may backfire on him. Having bases in Iraq for 100 years would be a fantastic diplomatic tool, but the problem is I don???t see it happening. The people of Iraq will not let it happen. Just say why that is not realistic. The same goes for the surge, it is working but the truth is we cant continue it indefinitely. A trillion dollars has been spent so far on the war and we cannot continue since we have a war against the terrorists to fight.

It has been very evident for the last several months of the press influence in helping Obama and negatitive toward Hillary. I applaud her in this and as we all know the press is very influential in politics and few organizations maintain independent these days. If Obama is elected it will be proof the press dictate whom becomes President.

In his healthcare plan, Senator Obama proposes to dramatically lower health insurance costs in order to make it affordable, and to PROVIDE FINANCIAL SUPPORT to those who may have financial issues.

On the other hand, Senator Clinton proposes to dramatically lower health insurance costs in order to make it affordable, and to PUNISH those who would fail to pay (see universal mandate).

Nevertheless, Senator Clinton insinuates that Senator Obama's plan discards some Americans!
SHE WILL SAY ANYTHING, .. SHE WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET ELECTED.

While it is not true that the press has "gone easy" on Obama???his slender record has been and will be scrubbed???the press helped fuel his momentum with mostly positive coverage.

A Clinton aide, speaking anonymously to hide his bitterness, predicted that Obama would get his comeuppance if he wins the nomination. "The one person the press corps likes more than Obama is John McCain," the aide says. Maybe so, but it doesn't really matter, because the press is almost certain to turn on both men. Digging through the personal record, searching for human flaws, is what reporters do when they cover presidential campaigns, and the critical skepticism only deepens when the winner occupies the Oval Office.

This piece of your article misses the most important point of what the Clinton's arew complaining about -- she is a known entity -- Obama is not. Once he has the nomination in hand it is a little too late to go over him with a fine toothed comb. Why not just admit your first goal is to be rid of her?

  • Posted By: binnimac @ 02/18/2008 5:02:59 PM

Its not that the press is giving Obama a free ride, its that finally there is someone NEW in this race. Like she claims over and over and over again, she's already been in the white house. This country needs a new leader, how worse can we get with Obama, we already know what the Bushs' can do and also the Clintons, lets see what Obama does. I truly don't believe our country will keep the respect we have if she's elected.

    • Posted By: barbinPa @ 02/18/2008 8:57:12 PM

Keep what respect? My god read a newspaper, watch the news. Get your head out of the sand. It is uninformed people like you who have given a man that is full of hot air(at best) the lead in this race.

  • Posted By: tyvol @ 02/18/2008 8:55:58 PM

    Good post, Mick!

What seems to be happening, is that the press (with all its faults) is holding up the mirror to the candidates and asking us if we see what's in the mirror.

We each see and remember different things to some extent (this is called confirmation bias - where we look and interpret reality's evidence, whatever it is, as proof for what we already believe), but what we seem to be seeing coming from the Clintons, is frustration about the current reality, to the point of routinely overeacting.

A sure sign that things are not going as they believed it would, so there must be reasons (and notice that taking responsibility for their own words and deeds is not among them).

The press is not letting Bill and Hillary forget their sleaziness anymore, even though, early on they once did.

Hillary and Bill have had 8 years in Washington and between them they cannot link their actions or accomplishment to the aspirations of a united America.

Their claimed but scarce accomplishments were opportunistic, temporal and many were not created by them but by others (but they were there to demand and accept applause, weren't they).

And then there is the long standing Clinton sell-out factor. They got wealthy from this. On a senators pay, there is no way Hillary could afford to donate $5 million to her campaign, from her own money. No wonder she will not divulge her finances.

    Sad really...

In my humble opinion, I'm happy that the press is holding up the mirror to their kind.

    It's about time.

The media is falling all over Mr. Obama, swooned by his charm?Mr. Obama wanted pretend that he???s Mr. Clean but he???s not. Even though he???s a baby-boomer (1944-1964) he was born in 1960, but tries hard to appear that he belongs to a younger generation. In three years he can get his AARP card. He says that he???s original, but his speeches are full of borrowed material from MLK, JFK and FDR, not to mention his plagiarizing of Gov. Patrick???s speech. He says he???s against the establishment, but his major support comes from Hollywood and from Washington media establishment; we all know how corrupt Hollywood is and we all know that Washington media gave us George Bush and Iraq war! Mr. Obama says that he???s not accepting money from special interests groups, but he accepted campaign contributions from lobbyists and special interests groups, for example Mr. Obama received $261,784 from pharmaceuticals/Health Products Industry. (Source: opensecrets.org) Until very recently, Mr. Obama also had habit of accepting private jet travel from America???s large corporations. His long friend and backer Tony Resko, the slum lord from Chicago who contributed about $140,000.00 to Obama presidential campaign, who is now in jail awaiting trial, Mr. Obama donated the money back to charities when the story broke out in Chicago newspapers. ???When Sen. Barack Obama decided to buy a stately $1.65 million home last year on Chicago's South Side, Antoin "Tony" Rezko and his wife wasted no time. The same day the Obamas closed on the house, the Rezkos closed on the purchase of the adjoining vacant lot, which once was the estate's lush side yard.??? Chicago Tribune said. I think lots of interesting information is going come out about Mr. Obama during his buddy Mr. Rezko???s trial. Mr. Obama is a constitutional lawyer, right, he should have known better. Mr. Obama bought his house for more than quarter of a million dollars less than the market price. Mr. Obama has been a chronic smoker for long years, before he cleaned up his act for the nomination bid, including losing all his appointment schedules as a state senator. As a long time smoker Mr. Obama carries a health risk greater than of John McCain???s age factor.

In 1970 Les Aspin was running for Congress in the Democratic primary in Wisconsin's First Congressional District against a man named Doug LaFollette.

LaFollette had produced a slick tabloid brochure, chock full of quotes from common people about him and playing to his supposed family ties to Fighting Bob LaFollette.

The Kenosha News broke a story that showed the quotes were liberally copied from the campaign literature of Massachusetts Democrat Michael Harrington.

It also found that LaFollette was a only a shirttail relation of Fighting Bob and his family--progressive icons even in the '60s and '70s.

As I recall it, the headline was "LaFollette Family tree just doesn't dig a Doug."

What was never reported was that the Aspin campaign was behind the "revelations"--Aspin was well connected with the Harrington organization--and in good measure due to this, Les went on to a slender victory.

He later became Bill Clinton's secretary of defense. (And LaFollette later became Wisconsin Secretary of State.)

Jason Linkins, writing in the Huffington Post, is today reporting that "Obama, Patrick Collaboration Noted Specifically By Globe Back In April 2007."

Thus the Obama "revelation" seems to have been well cooked in the smarmy ovens of Clinton Oppo-land.

Of course, no one ever lost money betting on the sleeziness of a Clinton campaign.

Let's just hope the country doesn't lose because of it.
