Evan knows damned well that the press honeymoon for Bill Clinton ended because he refused to attend a party thrown by Sally Quinn just after the election. Yeah, there were other problems but the press decided to sink him in order to abide by the tantrum thrown by mr and mrs quinn...

I know who her husband is/was but his book didn't even get the King assassination date right....way to go, fella.

    Please stop lying.

Evan knows damned well that the end of the press honeymoon for Bill Clinton was his refusal to attend a party given by Sally Quinn just after the election.

Yeah, there were other problems but mr. and mrs quinn decided to sink him out of personal pique.

The media is who is racist and so are blacks. I am sorry but the media keeps saying that Obama is winning areas that are predominately black to me that is a racist remark and they are all saying this. The blacks IMO are only voting for Obama because he is black, why else is he getting 90% of the votes. I remember when Obama first came out the blacks said he was not black enough not that they wanted to hear what he says before making a decision they but that he was not black enough. He has won some whites over good for him but the black voters that were for the Clintons have turn coated quick. Michelle Obama who is basically running for 1st lady of our country says she is now proud of this country. Why aren't the news media jumping on that. IMO she is only proud because her black husband is getting some of the white vote. Yes I am racist to a point. I don't believe that Obama should be getting the vote from blacks because he is black but this seems to be happening. As Jesse Jackson Jr told one of the superdelegates do you want you vote to be responsible for not getting the first black president. Now this statement that he says is nothing but racist and I was for his dad when he ran a while back.

So you mean to tell me the fact that Hillary Clinton has a 20 point plus lead among white women has nothing to do with her being a white woman? It's Clinton's own fault that blacks are voting for Obama in such large numbers; many blacks are pissed off about her campaign's race baiting in between New Hampshire and South Carolina. Some of her surrogates' comments aren't her fault directly but they are still responsible for alienating a great number of black voters. Blacks are still discrminated against in this country (recent studies have shown that a white man WITH a criminal record is more likely to be hired for a job than an equally qualified black man with NO criminal history), it's understandable that this election would seem so monumental to blacks.

Blacks are not the only people discriminated against in this county. Tell that to my female cousin who lost her promotion to a man, when she had more experience and a better resume.

I think that he is speaking, somewhat of the truth! Speaking truth that the majority of us are to afraid to admit! This presidential campaign for leader of the free world has turned into a race, gender issue and once again America is on a slippery slope to becoming a washed up has-been country! I am moving to Canada!

The press doesn't have to biased they just have to quote the Clinton's.

I watched ex president Clinton mention that if one believes Obama's rhetoric he (Clinton) has some land to sell them. White Water Land? Clinton can't possibly be this stupid, as to bring up one of his less than shinning moments, can he? The finger pointing which has become part of his para-language is reminiscent of another proud moment 'I did not have sex with that woman, Ms Lewinsky'. Is he so narcissistic and entitled that he believes he can say anything without censure? Or is he suffering from Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome or wet brain caused by years of alcohol abuse? As Clinton ages he looks more and more like W.C. Fields, red nose and all. He has either lost his memory or believes we have.

There is no way a democrat can with this year. Six months ago I felt they would carry the election and I predict that the republicans will win the presidency this year and also gain in the house and senate. It's a shame that we democrat's can't get our act together. I have voted democrat all my life, but this year I will vote for McCain before I will vote for Obama. What has he done to deserve it???????

    • Posted By: DeltaLady @ 02/19/2008 5:48:24 PM

"What has he done to deserve it"...so I would take it that you think Hillary DESERVES it...it's that type of ignorance that just burns me up. I'm so sick and tired of folk feeling that they're ENTITLED to something. This whole election is just magnifying the biggest problem in this country: IGNORANCE. We're so ignorant to the fact that in order for things to be different, we have to change our mindsets and make different decisions. And furthermore, why is it that when a Black person applies for a job or runs for an office, they have to be OVER qualified when history has PROVEN that EVERY sensible idea has come from a BLACK person and was STOLEN by a White person because at that time, Blacks were in no position financially or even socially (considering they weren't even recognized as citizens) to obtain patents, copyrights, etc. Yet and still White America thrives off of this "entitlement complex". In all fairness, you're not entitled to anything considering your ENTIRE history is based on corruption and deceit. Heck, the land this country is on is even stolen. So explain to me...what ENTITLEMENT do you have?

    • Posted By: Johnsonium @ 02/18/2008 6:04:21 PM

We don't want your vote. We only want articulate, passionate people. Go vote for McCain.

      • Posted By: RetiredMarine @ 02/18/2008 10:38:15 PM

no, you want weak minded, easily fooled individuals who hear the rhetoric and become hypnotized.

  • Posted By: Tigrrrl @ 02/19/2008 5:42:04 PM

"...the press is almost certain to turn on both men. Digging through the personal record, searching for human flaws, is what reporters do when they cover presidential campaigns, and the critical skepticism only deepens when the winner occupies the Oval Office." What a truckload of bull. Dubya got a free ride from the press throughout the 2000 campaign--and it continued right up to the Katrina debacle.

  • Posted By: lwta @ 02/19/2008 5:30:36 PM

Wow. insightful but rather depressing. It would have been nice for Evan Thomas to shed some light onto what might be done about this. Or is his point that this relationship is hopelessly hopeless?

One thing about Obama, though--I didn't observe a ton of particularly positive press until the Clintons began acting more snarky. In fact, I read more negative spin on him and his words than I read on HIllary. In fact, I can't say that her campaign is solely to blame for the whole coronation/incumbant image we bought into--wouldn't have have been partially the press' work?

  • Posted By: 1sprigg @ 02/18/2008 9:03:51 PM

it is really no point talking to these clinton supporters, being that they are traditionally the bottom rung of the social scale and have very little education. The Clintons are trash and always have been.

    • Posted By: DeltaLady @ 02/19/2008 5:25:02 PM

Exactly...the Clintons know what kind of supporters they have and that's how they determine what tactics to use. So you're exactly right...no sense in going over this with them b/c their level of understaning is not up to par. And before any of you EDUCATED Clinton supporters reply please not that EDUCATION does NOT = COMMON SENSE. The world is full of educated fools...just thought I'd make that note. Now if you wish to comment anyway, go ahead and prove my point...

  • Posted By: drjunea @ 02/19/2008 11:00:45 AM

Why do you think that Obama is going to bring something new to politics? He is a puppet of many old politicians that are backing him for promises he will have to keep. Wake up. I am a well educated practicing doctor that can see s wolf in sheeps clothing. Women it is up to us. Get out and vote.

    • Posted By: DeltaLady @ 02/19/2008 12:00:45 PM

Well, if you're so well educated and can see soooo much, then perhaps you also can see that Hillary Clinton will have to keep her promises as well. Do you HONESTLY believe that she's not making promises in an effort to gain and keep the support of the Superdelegates. If you're going to call a spade a spade, then be fair about it. And if you're going to call a crook a crook, call it a Clinton.

      • Posted By: Politicaladdict @ 02/19/2008 1:04:33 PM

May I ask what do you base your statement of the Clinton's being crooks on. There are many things they might be but I have never heard any such inuendo as this. Please stick to facts if you want to slander people.

        • Posted By: DeltaLady @ 02/19/2008 5:16:34 PM

Oh, I'm sorry, not being convicted of Watergate eliminates them from being crooks. I apologize (please not the sarcasm). I should have stated that they are rich crooks that can buy their way out of anything...does that make you feel better?

All reporters get paychecks. But who is signing those paychecks?

  • Posted By: kjb79 @ 02/19/2008 4:16:20 PM

I don't watch MSNBC anymore, not only because it is biased, but because I feel shows tend to be more interesting when at least one person disagrees with the others.

I think what this article proves is that Hillary can take it. That's just the kind of strength in the leader I want.
The media attacks the hell out of her and voters still vote for her. It must make all the reporters trying to elbow her out of the primary frustrated. But at the end of the day, it's the American way. It's OUR collective votes. Not your opinions that will decide who to nominate. I guess the media didn't learn their lesson after New Hampshire.

  • Posted By: sdoxas @ 02/19/2008 4:05:14 PM

Less scandals = Less criticism. Stop doing corrupt things and expect happier headlines, Hillary.

    • Posted By: JakeNYC @ 02/19/2008 4:10:56 PM

Can you name 1 example where Hillary has been convicted of corruption? And if the media is going to discuss "alleged" scandals, then why are we not hearing of all the alleged scandals involving Obama in Illinois? That's the point of this article.... you've heard of Hillary's alleged scandals, but not Obama's.

  • Posted By: D. Affiliated @ 02/19/2008 3:54:30 PM

MSNBC does have pretty much have a pro-Obama bias although I have seen it cut both ways: like I said earlier, every single episode of Hardball last week was dedicated to helping Hillary Clinton out with a plan and a strategy for winning the nomination. CNN on the other hand, clearly has a pro-Clinton bias. Like I said earlier, while watching the super tuesay coverage on CNN saw a guy go through and predict the ENTIRE ELECTION WITH HILLARY CLINTON MAINTAINING THE LEAD AND COMING OUT AS THE WINNER. He used this high-tech map to zero in on each state, showed how much of the vote each candidate would get and how many delegates they would get from each contest, and Clinton came out the winner in the end. I see that kind of overt pro-Hillary bias all the time, so all the bias in the media isn't just pro-Barrack.

    • Posted By: JakeNYC @ 02/19/2008 4:08:17 PM

You know D., in many cases the problem is that news organizations have gone from simply reporting the news to trying to predict outcomes or future events. That's where we get these projections. They should get out of the projection business and just report the facts.

The media, i have noticed has Obama walking on water. His shoe's will get wet, and sink soon!

  • Posted By: lafit @ 02/17/2008 1:27:03 PM

This is for all The Media reporters:

THIS IS RIDICULOUS, any comment that The Clintons said is negative.
PLEASE DO NOT BE IGNORANT. Everything that Obama said is ok? EVAN HIS USED OF DRUGS?
Because this: I???ll repeat Mr. Clinton???s words. GIVE ME A BRAKE.

IS THE MEDIA, PROUD AND HAPPY TO HAVE THIS MAN AS THEIR PRESIDENT?

IS THIS THE MODEL FOR YOUNG PEOPLE?

    • Posted By: Maizing @ 02/19/2008 3:42:59 PM

At least Obama never claimed that he "didn't inhale."

  • Posted By: madaalc @ 02/19/2008 3:24:28 PM

I'm glad that the truth is finally coming out. The press has been biased for Obama. I have nothing against Senator Obama, but the bias attacks of media against Hillary has been allowed to go on without consequences. I've already stopped watching MSNBC because they have been vicious and one-sided. I'm disappointed that Tucker is allowed to say "Isn't it fun to kick Hillary when she's down?", Chris Matthews insinueating that Hillary owes her po

    • Posted By: JakeNYC @ 02/19/2008 3:36:05 PM

I expect that from Tucker... the sad part is to see Democrats joining in the Hillary bashing and buying in on 16 years of Republican smears.

  • Posted By: madaalc @ 02/19/2008 3:34:55 PM

I have nothing against Sen. Obama but I'm disappointed at the biased media coverage he is getting. The media has gotten away with vicious attacks against Hillary. Comments from Tucker Carlson saying something like "isn't it fun to kick Hillary when she's down" or Chris Matthews implying the only reason HIllary has a political career is due to her husband's infidelity, are vicious and have no place in the press if it wants to be called objective.
