I posted this on ABC but I think it will be sutable here. I am so disappointed that ABC becomes a part of Hillary???s political machine by focusing on a typical words barrowing from campaign members and interpreting it as plagiarism. I believe media can fall into the trap of victimization which Hillary uses all the time by accusing the media for not covering her enough and fairly. But the accusation of plagiarism is such a dirty trick for media to be used as a way to get the approval of Hillary???s political machine and lobbies. Even if Obama were not elected, history and people would not forget how some media fallow the dirty politics of lobbies to destroy their fragile hope for a real change. If this is plagiarism, all politicians??? speeches including Hillary???s are plagiarism since every politician use speech writer, spouse and friends??? input to their speech. Obama has shown a great and genuine ability in creating and delivering inspirational words as he showed in his books. It is a dirty trick to exaggerate the use of two or three sentences from your campaign with the same goal, especially where you need a tactic to shot off the mouth of dirty attacker on the importance of words and plausibility of the message. The attackers that use all dirty means including false and dirty emails video and messages to create doubt about a new figure in politics with strange name and brave message which is against the old and corrupted parties and lobbies

It is hard to keep track of what I have already said, so excuse me if this is old. I wrote this over a month ago and have edited in McCain's name to fit the times. I continue to see republican dreams come true as democrats steal their I hate Hillary rhetoric and make it fly where they could not. Even Jay Leno tried to use old, bad, Clinton jokes; I was pleased it fell flat!
I want a win in November and I want health care - Obama will deliver neither!
I think republicans are salivating at the prospect of Obama over Clinton, but are holding their cards close to the vest. Bashing Hillary serves two purposes: weakening her and diverting attention from the issue of Barak???s lack of experience and gravitas that McCain will exploit. I laugh at republicans on TV saying they will be energized against Hillary, as if we have not seen over a year apathy and dejection over the prospect. I visualize McCain holding his breath, fearing people will catch on that Obama is his best hope of winning. Nothing will motivate the right like the prospect of retaining the White House.
But, of course now is not the optimal time to reveal just how Barak will be diminished and made to look less than presidential. McCain would love democrats to get rid of the strongest candidate! Without Clinton universal health care as an issue will be minimal, she trounces McCain on economic issues and Hillary will not be tagged as weak and naive on international affairs and terrorism.
If health care is not mandated the legislation will fail. Republicans will argue a cost cutting alternative knowing partisan politics and compromise will gut any plan once the principle of universality is relinquished. They might just ignore the issue. Clinton is the only one who can drive it through.
Who is going to be swayed across party lines if UHC looks DOA, Obama is challenged on the economy and McCain takes the commander in chief mantle. Sen. Clinton is ready for McCain, no one can doubt that.
We could have had Al Gore instead of Bush if competency was not under-valued, let???s not make that mistake again. Imagine; inspectors instead of war in Iraq and our full might in Afghanistan and/or where the terrorists hide!

Excellent post, Cliff! I totally agree.
The analogy to the 2000 election if most relevant in this case. Also, I am dismayed that Democrats have bought into the character assasination of Hillary by the Republicans. I guess if you repeat something often enough, some people will start to believe it. Either that or they're just afraid to go toe to toe with the Republicans.

It seems American voters are treating the Democratic race as if it were an American idol contest. Come on people we are electing a President here! Get serious and look at the issues. Democratic candidates are not too far apart in substance. Let's focus on their issues and not on the media's coverage that seems to mimic the pre-shows for American Idol where the finalists are chosen.

I wish the media would quit treating the Democratic Race as if it were an American Idol contest.. Come on people we are electing a President here. The media coverage of Obama mimics the shows that precede the final 24 on Idol. How about some substance in your coverage and less "interpretaion by pundits" and more unadulterated news.

    Comment:
The media is completley bias towards Barak Obama. Never before in our history have we had a canidate with such a thin resume running for president. But lets face facts, Barak Obama is loved by the media because he would be the first African American president. If it were Secetery of State Rice or Collen Powell I could understand the great energy being developed. MSNBC has been the worst of any network to display this bias. The comment about pimping Chelsea Clinton proves this with out a doubt! That reporter should be fired.

    • Posted By: JakeNYC @ 02/19/2008 2:13:54 PM

I totally agree! I am an avid new junkie and was first turned off by Fox News by their unashamed conservative bias. I then stopped watching CNN because of their ultra PC bias in shows like "God's Warriors". I have since been watching MSNBC as I found it a model of fair journalism. I have been shocked over the last few months as MSNBC has purposefully pushed a pro-Obama or anti-Hillary agenda. When Obama won a primary, the headline was "Obama wins". When Hillary won a primary, it was "Obama does better than expected, keeps momentum". After Super Tuesday, EVERY SINGLE news organization had Hillary with more delegates than Obama; all except MSNBC. And lets not even talk about pundits like Chris Matthews, who I used to respect tremendously, but has now gone off the rails and forsaken any attempt at neutrality.
I fear this is what happens when news programs are built around personalities instead of a commitment to journalism.
Funny enough, the most balanced coverage on TV these days is Katie Couric and the CBS team. ABC does a good job as well.

Obama is an inspirational speak on the level of JFK and MLK. That makes good press.
Richardson, Todd and Biden are the ones hurt by lack of focus from the Media.
I am still surprised none of them broke through to be competitive.
Clinton has lost all of my respect looking to override voters with superdelegates and/or trying to get Florida/Michigan votes to count "as is" instead of having a fair contest in those states.

    • Posted By: yellow dog @ 02/18/2008 3:37:52 PM

There was a fair election in FL with record Dem turnout. All the candidates promised not to campaign in FL and they all stood by that except Obama. Oh, right. That was a national buy. It was just convenient that this "national buy" took place right before OUR primary--not super Tuesday. Hmmm. Not to mention the "news" stations ran at least on Obama ad as a "news item" every night running up to the primary.
We voted. Our delegates should be seated as elected. If Obama had won he'd be the one pushing to seat "his" delegates. BTW, I voted Edwards so I don't have a dog in this fight.

      • Posted By: librarygirl @ 02/19/2008 2:07:09 PM

When you refr to Florida, keep in mind that Floridians did not have a vote on when the election would be held. It was decided by our republican gov. and legislature. The canidates names were on the ballot theat is why there was a record turn-out. If this ruling gets overturned it will be because of the shady dealings of FL current govt and not because a canidate needs more votes.

      • Posted By: EruKhan @ 02/18/2008 4:05:09 PM

Clinton was actually IN Florida even though she promised not to campaign there. She was "Fundraising" and gave a victory speech, which is not "technically" campaigning according to the Hillary people. Barack did have a national AD out but he[and edwards] did not physically go to said state. What about the Edwards voters? Many of them didn't even vote. Michagan didn't even have Edwards or Obama on the ballot. If she gets those votes I will leave the democrat party.

After having read through these comments I find that these people do not flatter Hillary Clinton at all. This website will be banned in my household and labeled as filth. There's name-calling, bulling, racism, and character assasination to the highest level. Is this what Americans are deduced to because they want to support Hillary Clinton?

  • Posted By: Meri @ 02/19/2008 12:58:15 PM

She and Bill are not the only one. Women across the country are organizing a girlcott of MSNBC, Newsweek, and NBC, who have been the source of not news but Obama PRESS Releases from Day one. However, the story is not RACISM. IT"S SEXISM. and of course, I don't expect young males of any race to see it. They're just echoing the male-dominated media. And yes, I will leave the Democratic party if we can't elect in the 21st Century a more qualified and experienced woman over an empty, way underqualified younger male. It's ABOUT SEXISM, STUPID. And if you are such an Obama supporters referring to her as "old" right here as a matter of fact and using the b word, you might want to be aware that there are more women of voting age than men in this country. He may be younger, but one thing he is definitely not is smarter. Plagarizing is NOT OKAY and we are not talking about a few phrases. He used the WHOLE SPEECH uncredited. He's a liar, and if he gets the nomination, he will have split the party because women are so, so very sick and tired of men telling them what to do, including how to vote. BTW, MSNBC will eventually endorse McCain anyway. They're setting up Obama for a big fall and if his supporters don't know that then they don't know the white male dominated media AT ALL!

    • Posted By: cbaker31222 @ 02/19/2008 1:36:55 PM

I am a young male (relatively), and I totally, wholeheartedly agree with you. The real prejudice here is misogyny not racism, people are much more threatened by a woman than a bi-racial, half black man. I will join your girlcott and start the boycott. We didn't fall for the gross media nonsense in California though, despite what Maria Shriver's spoiled, uninformed children told her to say.

      • Posted By: sfrivera1 @ 02/19/2008 1:59:56 PM

I am so happy to find women and young men recognizing how the media minimalizes Hillary's words and accomplishments. Comments on her clothing and "tired" looks are not journalism. Sexism is alive and well, especially when you hear so-called "progressives" say they will vote for McCain before voting for the progressive candidate, Hillary Clinton. Men have been trying to keep us down for thousands of years and they are fighting back hard at the victories we have won in the last 50 years. Women, don't underestimate how many men want to keep us either in the bedroom or the kitchen. White men and black men have more in common than they want to admit publically - but Obama should acknowledge the gender-bias. He disappointed me by not informing me that the inspirational words he spoke were not his thoughts or his words. I've given public speeches, and not giving credit to a source is called plagerism. Obama is a great speaker, but is he a genuine speaker? At least at this point, whether you like her or not, Hillary seems to be the more honest progressive canditate.

I think Obama has divided the Democratic party which he will lose in November. I know of at least 10 Democrats tell me if Obama wins they will vote for Mccain and I'm 100% sure there are at least 25% of the Democratic party who feel this way.

All the people that are complaing about Obama on here better read their history as the Carl Rove presidency has been a nightmare for all of us and McCain will just continue the same - hugging and all. I am just a bistander but the I have been very upset by the media trashing the Clintons non-stop. MSNBC, CNN, Foxnews, everyone has done nothing but belittle them and trash them and put Obama up on a pedistal. Obama certainly has gotton a free ride from the press and if you all don't see that then maybe I should splice together a medley - that should make some news. I never watch much news so I couldn't believe how rotten the medica was. Hannity & combes & Morning Joe, Tim Russet, that dreaded Laura Ingram who hates everyone, absolutely everyone has trashed the Clintons and it has to stop. You say she has a rocky relationship with the press - I wonder why. You're even trying to make pot shots at their "innocent" daughter.

    • Posted By: sharbob @ 02/19/2008 8:54:57 AM

I agree with you I have never seen anything like this. I fear that Obama is not being scrutinized enough and if the wins the Democratic nomination, he will be chewed up and spat out by the Republicans and we will all suffer under 4 more years of Republican rule. My God! I can't figure this country out. I am a bistander like you.

      • Posted By: JakeNYC @ 02/19/2008 1:57:45 PM

Why do you think that Fox News is so "impressed" with Obama? They are pumping up his candidacy because they know that Hillary would be a much tougher candidate.

  • Posted By: OH.supportsHillary @ 02/19/2008 1:13:41 PM

The media seems to be so SAD about pointing out that Obama's (hype) words were not even his own words.. wonder how many other words are just repeated hype from someone else??? What's sad is that no matter what he does--the media tries to spin it back or play it down.

and NO one sent me anything to ask me to come on this site and stand up for Sen Clinton--I did it cause I believe in her .

    • Posted By: HelpPlease1 @ 02/19/2008 1:57:16 PM

Do you realize that everyone has used the words of all of the people Obama quoted?
These were not even Deval's words. How shallow can we go? When you say "Good Morning" whose words are you using? Think about it.
The people are waking up to all the ploys of the Clinton party who themselves not only stole the Solutions sign but oh, let's see....Change, Fired Up, and not to mention the sling dirt tactics of old. All of Hillary's campaign is stolen.

She could survive if she won fair and square, with the popular vote. However if she wins due to party insiders not only will she lose in November but the party will be in chaos.
Think how smug the Republicans would be then.

      • Posted By: JakeNYC @ 02/19/2008 1:53:29 PM

Jacob....those are the "rules of the party" Why would Obama ask that they respect the rules when it comes to Michigan and Florida but then ask that the rules be broken by forcing superdelegates to vote with their districts?
My point here is that Obama is just as hypocritical as any other politician.

  • Posted By: Disgusted by media @ 02/19/2008 1:53:06 PM

Unfortunately this goes to show the poor products that the American education system is producing. Before the system produce journalists, but now it is producing entertainers who pose as journalists. No wonder they are so obsessed with the rock star candidate. I am not a democrat, but seeing how the media treats Senator Clinton made me want to vote for her just to let them know that they only get one vote, just like the rest of us. They should not get to decide who is the next President.

  • Posted By: cleocat @ 02/19/2008 9:44:03 AM

The media has creamed themselves over Obama....and he has yet to be really tested on anything. I do not think he could hold up to the republican spin machine in a national election. We already know all the bad stuff about Clinton..I mean c'mon how many times are they gonna talk about Bill? But Obama ...from plagarism now, to rumors of gay sex and drugs on the internet....The republicans will have a field day.
The Obama supporters mean spiritedness towards Hillary has turned me off to him and I am sure others in the party as well. I would be hard pressed to vote for him in a national election.
    NOBAMA!

    • Posted By: JakeNYC @ 02/19/2008 1:51:17 PM

Just ask yourselves why the Republican pundits like Bill Cristal, Tucker Carlson, Bob Novak, etc. are simply gushing in praises for Obama? They all say that Hillary would be the easier candidate to beat in a general election. When was the last time Republicans broadcasted their weakness to the Democrats?
Why would they be arguing for the Democrats to nominate the weaker candidate?

    • Posted By: D. Affiliated @ 02/19/2008 9:54:25 AM

Actually, a lot of people aren't aware that the Clintons pardoned a group of Puerto Rican terrorists on their way out of office in 2000. The Republicans are going to have a field day with that one if she wins the nomination.

Hillary has run a dirty campaign, no doubt about it. Last week her camp expressed its willingness to use all means possible to derail Obama; including "incendiary tactics." My guess is most who read the word don't even know the definition.......... flammable, combustable, fire-starting, arson. Obviously a statement chosen by a campaign in a desperate situation. Who is she kidding? The majority of democrat voters are looking for an out from modern day politics; games she increasingly continues to play. Now, the latest, "plagiarism?" I don't believe that when the governor was reciting his speech I heard a reference or mention or thanks to FDR for his well know phrase "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." Clinton's camp continues show us how petty, how desperate and how poorly they are organized. It is a tell-tale sign exactly how she would run the country when the going gets tough. Let's put all of them out their misery now and get the vote out for Obama today. "Put the nail in the coffin" (using quotes, because it's not an original saying, you know) voters and rid us all of the misery that the Clinton camp continues to put us all through.

Thank you! That, I believe, is the greater point in all of this. The Clinton campaign's antics are really disheartening; they could care less about anything except winning. Hillary Clinton's camp dismissed the supposed "red state" delegates as "second class delegates", now she's trying to overturn the will of the voters by going after and trying to overturn those same pledged delegates in order to win. So you understand the magnitude of what she's doing?! She is trampling on the very idea of a free democracy and has no problem destroying the Democratic party in order to win. I am really getting sick of the Clintons' psyco-drama and their dirty and unscrupulous ways.

      • Posted By: JakeNYC @ 02/19/2008 1:45:18 PM

And you really think that Obama does not care about winning? Obama has not had to go negative because A) The media has been pumping up his campaign rhetoric, B) the idiotic electorate is buying his message without asking for specifics or looking at his voting record and C) because a large number of Republicans in states with open primaries are voting for Obama in large number; not because they believe in his message, but because they want to run against him in a general election. His record and experience is so thin that they know an electorate worried about huge economic problems and terrorism will not hand the country over to him.

  • Posted By: emcnicol @ 02/19/2008 1:44:30 PM

Duh, I guess you forgot to notice that the vast majority of Americans no longer trust the media to be unbiased. That's a real shame, too, considering that at one time not too distant, Americans actually believed what they heard on the nightly news broadcasts. It has become evident that power in the media is in the hands of fewer and fewer people, and as such, the media is becoming increasingly irrelevant. As we move further into the 21st Century, it is becoming increasingly impossible for anyone to 'control' information, even in places like North Korea. It is now possible for news of an event to travel across the entire world in seconds, without any help from the traditional media. My advice to all media and Networks is- You had better get back to FACT BASED REPORTING instead of Opinion Based Reporting, for once you lose the trust of the people, you WILL go the way of the dinosaur.

  • Posted By: drjunea @ 02/19/2008 11:07:28 AM

Hillary is the only intelligent choice. Obama's people are doing a good job of creating momemtum but voters should not vote for someone just because someone else is! Have you read that there are law-suits being filed against Obama and his campaign manager on very personal issues? Google it and inform yourself. Old politicians who want to run the puppet Obama are putting up alot of money and power to get their agendas legislated. Young voters are voting for Obama for the wrong reasons, It is the in thing? Perhaps when they can't get a job when they graduate, the seriousness of this election will hit them.

    • Posted By: JakeNYC @ 02/19/2008 1:40:51 PM

Even if you don't count personal issues, Obama was just voted the #1 most liberal senator. The most far left Senator CAN NOT win a general election. Leftie Democrats are so enamoured by their ideas that they cannot understand that the only way to win a general election is with a centrist platform. That is the only way to truly unify this country. Not by telling moderates and conservatives to "stop being stupid and follow us".

    • Posted By: D. Affiliated @ 02/19/2008 11:32:31 AM

I've read the complaint in that supposed law suit and it looks like nothing but a shoddy smear campaign. The complaint fails to even name a cause of action, it's just vague non-sense about how the guy's right to free speech is being violated because he's being ignored and how the fact that he's being investigated, in his mind is tantamount to "harassment", all of which is complete non-sense. He doesn't even state a statute under which he's claming damages because there is none (also, I've read that the guy gave specific dates for when he was in Chicago when the alleged incident occurred; he said that he was in Chicago for a relative's graduation, someone checked with the school and saw that the graduation for that school actually took place three weeks before the dates that he gave). I work for the Court system and I see outlandish complaints filed all the time that turn out to be completely untrue. If this is reviewed by a judge and it's decided that it has merit, then there will be something to report. But, that's never going to happen; the case will be thrown out because the guy doesn't assert any frickin legal claim whatsoever to begin with.
