Within the following repost I say only the popular vote will be acceptable, and then it will still be ugly (especially if Clinton wins). Forget delegates, forget big states vs small states, but do we count Florida's popular vote?
In all fairness the DNP should step up and admit signals were given before the nomination process even began that Florida and Michigan delegates would be seated no matter who won the state.. Especially Florida since it was republicans in control of moving their primary up and breaking the rules. The party can ill afford to have Florida feel alienated in the general election. Instead they let Clinton take the fall.
No one thought then these delegates could determine the nomination and I do not think they will or should now. But to bash Sen. Clinton for trying to do what is best for the party while giving Obama a pass for trying to change the super delegate rules put in place long ago is the height of hypocrisy!
Super delegates were put in place when the party decided to make the nomination so open to outside influences. They were created for exactly the situation we now face, when a movement threatens to co-opt the political party and/or the voters are swayed toward someone who may not be best for the party or country.
We are seeing the price to be paid for opening up the nomination to the general public. What is next; a general election for the democratic nominee, then another in November? In all likelihood this will be decided on popular vote, I only hope Florida's count does not have an impact. God help us if (shades of 2000) the overall popular vote is thwarted because of a technicality involving (not counting) Florida!
I blame the Democrat National Party for this fiasco and for not having the courage to defend their position(s). They should not fear being called bigoted if they are seen as questioning Baraks qualifications; it is their job (and ours), and the role of super delegates. Truth hurts? Grow up!

Duh, I guess you forgot to notice that the vast majority of Americans no longer trust the media to be unbiased. That's a real shame, too, considering that at one time not too distant, Americans actually believed what they heard on the nightly news broadcasts. It has become evident that power in the media is in the hands of fewer and fewer people, and as such, the media is becoming increasingly irrelevant. As we move further into the 21st Century, it is becoming impossible for anyone to 'control' information. It is now possible for news of an event to travel across the entire world in seconds, without any help from the traditional media. My advice to all media is- You had better get back to FACT BASED REPORTING instead of Opinion Based Reporting, or you WILL go the way of the dinosaur.

Guys and Gals we must speak out - The media cronies are not doing their jobs (especially those guys at NBC and MSNBC) at being impartial. They relish his warm attention, his touch, his smiles, ahh...his voice and his inspiratational speeches, and surface polish. He offers an illusion of change - one man cannot change everyone - one country alone can't rescue the world. Just because you change faces in the Presidency does not mean MASSIVE change will come. You still have to go through Congress; the States and local governements. You still have the Conservative Supreme Court. There are laws and policies in place that Obama will have to go through first. He is definitely not Christ and don't be blinded by the color bar. The quality of coverage that the media is giving this race is reflective of the stance that considers sexism to be more tolerable and to be more ''fashionable'' to Americans versus any comment on race. Obama is untouchable to them. Gosh, he is even untouchable to Rush Limbaugh and Jay Leno! The Media cronies have become ''United ObamaWhores.'' . Yes he pushed for the Ethics Bill but the rest of the tenure was spent on running for President -Check the White House Records.
Do you guys know that he has only voted eight times in the Senate since he had been elected. Three of the eight was meaningful. He was rendered absent -''not voting on the majoriority of issues. Yes he said ''no'' to the war in IRAQ, but it was his lucky guess. Excuse Hillary for caring about her constituents. Some decisions are lucky for his ambitious endeavors. You guys out there must understand that it was not his City that got attacked causing the deaths of 3000 people and injured countless others. Some of them I knew. Most of his time in the senate was spent on running for President - see the White House Records! Be fair and take off the blinders. Also I want to know why do men really and these ObamaWhores really, really, hate their own mothers, their daughters, their sisters their grandmothers, their aunts, their nieces, lovers, wives... and so much that they would not afford them the same respect as to men. Men would not be able to handle true pain like women - take PMS, the Period and giving birth to your next son as an example!

Next, Hillary is also taking flack from defending those principles America stands for - marriage, family, children; equal opportunity and universal healthcare. Yes Bill Clinton has sinned with Monica but despite being harrassed he took care of the country, he tried to do his job. The media cronies are all hyprocrites. Don't they know that there is there is separation of Church and State in the Constitution ( though many want to chage that). How many Senators and electred Officials cheated, lied and stole already from the American Public - guys remember what Christ once said - ''those who are without sin cast the first stone.'' It is a Dead Issue. - TheExcuisitor13

I think that Obama was very presumptious and ignorant when he said that he would get Hillary's supporters but that she would not get his. What a pompus ___. He is not getting my vote, over my dead body. He makes himself sound like he has all the answers no one does but his supporters are so blind and they are not even checking his record, what he has not done in the senate. He never voted for or against the war but he makes it sould like he did when he says "I did not support the war" hell I thought that he voted against it till I did some further checking how many more are thinking the same.

Hillary will comeback thanks to the Media attacks.
I do not believe we americans are so naive to vote somebody who makes empty promises with his histrionic rethoric.

I hope you're right! But remember...Bush got elected in 2000 based on empty promises and rhetoric of change.

Meri--that's what I meant by DOUBLE Standard....it sickens me to hear their negative remarks especially from the women commentators who obviously are too afraid to speak up for Sen Clinton-- You know some of them must support her?? Even the fact that Sen Clinton is almost always referred to as Hillary while --Sen Obama is Obama...what standards---she just smiles through it all---if she tries to call anyone on something like this--she's whinin' she's weak... she's on the Attack!--I think she needs to go on the attack---that's how you win a fight!

Did all you Clinton supporters get your email alert from the campaign to post comments on this article? Babies.

    • Posted By: JakeNYC @ 02/19/2008 1:34:44 PM

Just why is it that whenever people have something to say about Hillary's candidacy, inevitably an Obama supporter will assume it's an organized effort by the campaign? What? No intelligent person can disagree with Obama (or you)? No intelligent person can look at these two candidates and come to a different conclusion? That arrogance and self-rightiousness is what will ensure Obama will NOT be president. If he wins the nomination, McCain will cruise in the general election and the Democratic Party will be broken. Obama is pulling a Nader.

I voted for the Clinton's twice, but assumed that they would nurture new talent in the party. I never thought they'd eat their own young to hold on to power.
The Clinton's are to blame for G.W. Bush and now they'll be to blame for President McCain.

The press wants confusion, riots, any kind of trouble that all of this can cause after the convention when the delegates are counted. This gives them something to talk about all the time and to talk their bias. There was a guy on MSNBC with Abrams last night and the discussion was about the media bias. The guy said and i don't remember his name but he said that the media wants a Clinton to go down, fail more than they want to talk about the nomination. That the media is more interested in seeing Hillary collapse then the nomination. Now that is sick but makes perfect sense that is why they talk about their golden boy all the time.

  • Posted By: Jacob Davis @ 02/19/2008 1:29:27 PM

Why don't we Democrats brace ourselves for the humiliating defeat in November regardless of who gets the nomination. Most of the Hillary people will never vote for Obama, and if Hillary gets the nomination it will be due to dirty tricks, alienating much of the base.

    talent in the party,

The crediability of the media is at stake, particularly the utterings of the pundits. As a former political reporter, I have been surprised by the level of outright bias against Mrs. Clinton and the celebrity worship of Obama. Be even handed in your coverage. I wish you all would go back to Jornalism 101, you all need a refresher course. Your opinions should not count, facts are facts, stick to them. Isn't it time Obama got the same scrutiny as Mrs. Clinton?

I am glad the media recognizes their appeal to Senator Barak Obama. Much of the momentum that Senator Obama has enjoyed is through media coverage of his popularity with young people. And such media coverage is a powerful tool that can sway voters. But, it saddens me that reporters are more interested in making comparisons with Senator Obama and President Kennedy in their gift of rhetoric. There are key differences between Senators Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama's understanding of the issues that face this country, and how each will face these challenges. It's time for the media to wake up and cover these differences so the American people can make an educated vote. I hope the media does not shirk its duty to responsibly inform its viewers and readers.

So um, how come it is okay to refer to Hillary Clinton as old and wrinkled. then yes you are the typical Obama supporter, and that's exactly why women in Mass and NH thumbed their noses at the male media who portrayed Hillary the way you do, because women do not like being told to do by ugly sexist pigs like Chris Matthews and Tim Russert. Do you see that when those are the way you portray Obama's opponents AND their supporters, you're making more enemies for him, which is fine with Hillary supporters, except he really doesn't need the help. By referring to her meetings with world leaders as "having teas" and plagarizing, which is not okay in any college or university in this country, he turns women off pretty well on his own. But your hate comments all fall right in line with what Bill Clinton is saying. And no, the last president to win re-election as a Democrat is not going to support Obama, and by then MSNBC and the rest of the sexist media will be endorsing McCain.

I just can't believe my hears--MSNBC finally questioned Michelle Obama's comment of never being proud of her country till now----and the RIGHT to question this comment-- WOW oh WOW--Certainly we do have the right to ask about it--this type of comment should demand MAJOR attention--we'll see if it gets it. Sen Clinton--supporters need to stand FIRM... get your friends involved and out to vote... I'm from OH and am working hard for her... She can do it... despite the double standard she's had to deal with and the media's obvious bais to Obama. I agree with those who still feel Clinton experience is GOOD experience and it should count for something more than fancy speeches from good speech writers--surely --Americans are smart enough to see beyond the hype---facts are --Hillary Clinton is the best candidate to FIX this country!

  • Posted By: D. Affiliated @ 02/19/2008 12:47:56 PM

You wanna talk about media bias: I saw a commentator on CNN predict the outcome of the entire election state by state with Hillary Clinton emerging as the winner and I have yet to see anything that BLATANTLY biased in Obama's favor. I've seen stories over the past week with titles like "How Hillary Can Win", "A Strategy for Hillary to Win", "A Path to Victory for Hillary", etc--nearly every episode on Hardball last week focused on helping Hillary Clinton win. I think this bias works both ways. Obama didn't start getting so much positive press until he started winning, Hillary was spoken about as the presumptive nominee for ALL of last year, they didn't even give any of the other candidates a chance. The fact that she didn't even plan for a campaign that extended beyond super tuesday shows that she actually bought in to that type of hype (also shows what a poor job she does managing and planning).

The Clintons are a couple bereft of a sense of honor; as are many of her supporters. One only needs to review her resume of experience to see how qualified she is. That resume is filled with personnel appointments that were a total disaster. Please list one piece of major legislation she has forwarded. She was the first First Lady with an office in the West Wing, is that her experience? The dream of her life is to be the first woman President of the U.S., no matter how. Can you imagine having her as Vice-President, or could you imagine being her Vice-President? For the benefit of the Party and the Country, I sincerely hope the voters are wiser than these posters.

"Searching for human flaws is what reporters do...." Do you reporters actually believe that most Americans enjoy seeing you flaying our leaders, in your self appointed search for human flaws, instead of reporting substantively on issues? I was shocked to read this admission in a reputable publication. Get over yourselves. "Searching for human flaws" is better left for tabloid reports on celebrity cellulite.

    • Posted By: emtyn1 @ 02/17/2008 1:56:12 PM

I agree with jaya2j005 above. Americans don't want to know all the human flaws of their leaders unless they impact substantive decisions that effect the people. I don't care that Obama smokes and didn't care that Bill Clinton was unfaithful. It was more important (Bill's unfaithfulness) when he was so sloppy about it to get caught and attract the whole 'right-wing conspiracy' to distract him from doing his job. Obama's past drug use has been brought up and will surely be dissected before the nomination. That is relevant because illegal drug use, if continued, could impair his judgment. I think the media has shrunk to the Inquirer and People level by some of the stuff they write that we don't care about. I don't care if Hillary shows a bit of cleavage one day or if Barrack doesn't have his flag pin on. That is 'waste-of-time' journalism, IMHO.

TO SAY THAT THE MEDIA IS OBESSED WITH OBAMA IS IN JUSTICE
        JUST TURN ON TO MSNBC

Just looking at the above posts re: content and tone, I sense there is an extreme dislike of Mr. Obama that goes way beyond the resentment fhat 'the media is giving him a free ride'. Too much hate directed towards Mr. Obama. I sense some real anxiety that a black man may become the President. Hence the reason for the many comments: " I will vote republican if Mr. Obama is the Democrat nominee" . There is very little difference in ideology between Ms. Clinton and Mr.Obama and surly they are far closer in ideology than the Republican ideology. So the above statement implies very strongly that more than a little racism is involved.

Senator Obama kicked the smoking habit. Tough habit to kick - my dad never could and it took his life.

Of course the media is for Obama.....remember the Iowa night when Hillary came a close 3rd place? the media wrote her off with 49 states to go plus Puerto Rico.....I was saying helloooo!! this is only ONE a caucuse..................plus it was the media and the Obama camp playing the race card...Bill Clinton compared Obama to Jesse Jackson and the media, Obama camp and the Clinton's haters went nuts......if somebody compares Hillary to Ferraro I wouldn't see the media or the Clintons playing the gender card in protest.
Obama fanatics say that the Clintons want to change the rules on Michigan and Florida.....well those 2 states the democrats need to win to win the WH in the general....to just ignore those delegates complety is shooting yourself in the foot......The Clintons want to solve this within the part before it goes to court because the Florida and Michigan delegate can take this to court if they are not seated at the convention....and last time I heard the Courts and the laws outweight any stupid political party rules.

Then the Obama camp and media are complaining about the rules and don't want the Super Delegates voting for Hillary.....the party rules states that the Super Delegates can vote anyway they like regardless of who is more famous and who is leading in the polls.....the media who want Obama to win are already setting the caos scenario in case Hillary wins the most super delegates and she wins the nomination. They want to have it both ways....they dont want Michigan and Florida to be heard and counted because rules are rules but they want to change the rules in how Super Delegates have to vote when the party rules states they can vote how they wish.

You have Oprah and every hollywood star campaigning for Obama...but if Chelsea campaigns for her mom, the media call it the "CLINTONS ARE PIMPING HER DAUGHTER"......the bias of the media.

Hillary Clinton and her husband are old and wrinkled and will probably need a can of Ensure, a pair of Depends, and a nap after they inevitably lose to a younger, more charismatic, smarter candidate. The media coverage isn't fair, it's appropriate. No one wants their grandparents telling them what to do. Shame on anyone still supporting senior citizens for public office. Retire to Florida already! They like you there, especially when your opponents arn't allowed to campaign in the state but you decalre victory anyway.. After you lose Texas, Hillary, please do what's right and bow out of the race, buy an RV, and start knitting. Remember these are your Golden years!!!!
