We are at a crucial point in the history of OUR country. We have neither the time, energy
nor luxury of electing Osama. We cannot faulter in the assault on terrorist, we must
persue them wherever they are. Even with OUR own country!!! The goal is to collapse
within and I can see it coming. Why in GOD's name would WE, THE PEOPLE vote for
some punk who's been a senator for THREE years. We cannot allow a President who
cuts his teeth at OUR expense. I hate Hillary, but, hell, she looks like an angel compared
to this couple. IF anyone wants to know the true Obama allegiance..I would suggest
that you go to www.tucc.org/about.htm..........Loyalty to AFRICA??? Smells like a RAT

Salute! And unlike Obama's wife who didn't have anything to be proud of until a few days ago, I'm proud of you and your service to our great country, and all the many brave men and women in the past and present who have/are served/serving. Salute!

how many deployments have you been on? how many friend and loved ones have you lost? Everyone knows that terrorism must be stopped but unless those that say they want freedom actually strap up, boot up and are willing to put themselves in harms way then all this rhetoric on this page is garbage. I say regardless of who is CIC then put you name on the dotted line and leave your family for sometime.

Comment: Re: BlessedOne's post - yes, yes, yes - for the fact that the racial barrier has been broken - YES - for that we all should be proud! Your post is so heartfelt and I am touched by it - however, that does not mean he is the leader we are looking for - black or yellow or white or red or immigrant or founding mother/father - right now, we need a plan and I think we are all so tired of deception and falsehoods that Obama's dream of hope maybe supplanted by our need for real solutions. It isn't his race that's the turnoff - it's his arrogance, his gamemanship, and what I perceive as his dishonesty. BTW - the racial bashing on this thread is embarrassing -

Good post! No one hates Obama. Some of us simply want to hear more than change, change, change, change coming from him. Hell, a third-grader running on the theme of change could win us over, because we do want change, but in a positive direction--not just in a campaugn slogan to drum up blind support.

ALL and all its just a bunch of PINKobamas that are posting empty scrawl. They will see the world thru rose colored glasses till next fall. If their fool gets in they will soon see the handwriting on the wall. He puts in the DRAFT...and I do not mean to the inaugural ball. They may raise a ruckus but Obumer will not let them stall. And that is the HOPE and CHANGE that will befall. all the UDOPIANS that can not see the handwriting on the wall. The founding fathers never mentioned hope and change nor did King Saul. They wrote a constitution and did things that were not very small; unlike OBUMER and the UDOPIANS who run their mouths and scrawl but never really said or did anything of substance at all.

    • Posted By: Obamaisagoodtalker @ 02/21/2008 8:49:45 PM

You're almost as smooth a talker as Obama himself.

    • Posted By: apollosdescendant @ 02/20/2008 2:57:28 AM

Still writing meaningless crap getzel? Get a life you two-bit old hack. You are a senseless bafoon, and simply can't understand the genius that is Barack Obama. He is the man that will lead America into greatness.

      • Posted By: getzel @ 02/20/2008 8:13:42 AM

You can fool some of the people all of the time and those are pretty good odds.

  • Posted By: Far Away @ 02/20/2008 6:13:09 AM

Let them talk!!!!!!!!!! The more they talk, the more people want to get to see and hear THIS MAN. Wasn't it the same way they treated Jesus, Mahatma Ghandi, and all the great men in history. Lives of great men all remind us, we must leave our paths sublime, and departing leave behind us footprints in the sands of time. THE URGENCY OF NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!That's the intangible force that propels Senator Obama and nothing can stop him now.

    • Posted By: Obamaisagoodtalker @ 02/21/2008 8:38:47 PM

Where I cannot speak for other great men in history, Jesus doesn't/nor did he lie--the good talker Obama with all his talk about change has lied as many times as he has used the word change.

There's no way Obama did drugs amid a homosexual party--Obama is ten times tougher than Clint Eastwood, so he's all man. Have to adnit he is a good talker too--nothing specific to say, but one great talker. Homosexual? No way, not a tough as nails man like Obama.

I never thought this day would come, not in my lifetime, a brother in the Whitehouse, it is so close I can smell it. I am not even an African American and yet I feel so proud, especially after bitter last seven years, and several years before marred by Clinton???s shameful sexual abuse of a young girl only few years younger than his own daughter. Hillary went on to demonise her like she had women her husband had sexually used before her. I can understand when Mrs. Obama said she is so proud, and it is so shameful of the Clintons to score political points by suggesting that she was somehow ungrateful. Only a demented mind will not see the purity in her. She is such a great lady and it will be a joy to see her in the Whitehouse.

I read an article about the Hawaii caucus, and if this is true, my hats off to the Obama people for doing thier job. Whose idea was it to post people outside the polls and making sure thier candidate is elected? That is ingenious. Just one silly question, is that like cheating? From what I understand, there was no Clinton people around. My thinking is special interest are not supposed to be within 100 feet of polling places. So how did the officials let this happen and how many other polling places has this occured? I do agree if Obama gets the nomination, Hillary will be the one to bail him out because she is the one with the experience and the solutions.

I am a man, but I have to say this.

I'm afraid Americans are showing themselves to be rather naive about women.

If they were an older, more mature people, they would know how formidable women rulers can be. They would not discount Hillary's potential so easily.

There have been few women rulers in history, true, but an astoundingly high proportion of such rulers have shown greatness: Elizabeth I, Catherine the Great, Golda Meir, Indira Gandhi, even, on a lower level, Mrs Thatcher.

Of Indira, a veteran Pakistan-watcher noted that she was the only Indian prime minister the Pakistanis held in fear and respect. No wonder: in 1971 she cut Pakistan in two.

    Grow up, Americans !

    Can't you see it?

Iran will fear America the day Hillary becomes President. Ahmedinejab will look round his cronies and say: "Time to get serious, gentlemen. A woman is in charge in Washington: no more fun and games with America."

    • Posted By: HolyRoller @ 02/21/2008 7:50:46 AM

I very much agree with your comments. Iran does fear a Hillary election. With an Obama, Ahmedinejab's only real worry is what to wear to Husseins' Inaguration ceremony. Those two would quickly become fast friends, if not already.

Shame on you Obama mohammeds. NOBAMA!

On page 10 you have a "dignity index" which states that Barack Obama gives John McCain a backhanded compliment by stating his half century of service. Well in the Associated Press today John McCain himself in response to the New York Times article about the lobbyist states that he has served his country honorably for more than half a century. You may want to remove Barack's mildly tacky score of 7.

Wherever did your comment come from? Color, hate - don't believe I saw that anywhere! What I am sick of is Mr & Mrs O being portrayed like they are the greatest or the best thing to ever happen to this country. This country is made up of proud Americans of many colors, faiths and origins. You Bellepapillion, brought up color not me! And I did not talk about Mrs. McCain because this article is not about her. Oh, and please note: I have African American friends who I consider a part of my family and vice versa (and I am a middle aged white Italian woman.

      Reading comprehension is in order.

First, I think you'll be surprised to find that this section of Newsweek online is dedicated to "Comments". Ergo, I commented.

Second, not respond to you at all, unless you are in fact the person below using two different logins. I commented on the following:

Comment: Michelle Robinson Obama is ENOUGH of a reason NOT to vote for Osama!!! She is a
      very, very angry black woman...

Third, ummm okay. Since you obviously want to discuss this by using the ole "I have an African-American friend" legitmacy ploy...what does you and your friend's ethnicities have to do with anything? I have friends from all over the world - literally. Does that mean I automatically know everything about their ethnic inner workings? Am I now the Indian, Greek, Malawian, South African, Chinese, Colombian, Guyanese, Italian, Sudanese, Irish and so on...expert? Sorry, but I'm trying to understand the relavency of that comment.

And no, I'm not being snarky.

      • Posted By: Bellepapillion @ 02/21/2008 12:53:30 PM

    • Posted By: Bellepapillion @ 02/21/2008 12:47:03 PM

Oh, and BTW, speaking of Mrs. McCain is pertainent considering she's the wife of the Republican candidate most likely to be nominated.

Correct me, but aren't we discussing the profile (and therefore portayals) of candidate's spouses? Is this about the 2008 election? Or am I mistaken?

  • Posted By: joy57111 @ 02/19/2008 9:02:27 PM

I feel that Michelle has her own agenda, She sounds as if her objective is to have blacks promoted or allowed to get the better positions in government and institutions simply because of thier minority standing. I am interested in her views about that simply because I was victim to that kind of thinking when where i worked passed me over for promotion simply because I wasn't black, I had more education, more experience, a better work ethic, ect. but because I didn't have the right minority I was passed over. The way I see it absolutely no one should be hired, promoted, given an advantage over anyone else. If you can't earn your way into a better situation due to your own accomplishments then you don't deserve it. Is it any wonder we have financial problems when we have people who didn't earn there way up the ladder but were put there only because of the minority class they are in?

    • Posted By: Bellepapillion @ 02/21/2008 12:20:40 PM

Unless you have proof of your allegations - meaning resume to resume comparasion, evaluations etc, not ancedotes - you are claiming that a minority COULDN'T have had better qualifications than you. Hmmm....

Then you should start a crusade against people hiring/ favoring their friend's children, their college rowing team buddies, their nephews and nieces, doing hiring favors for their old bosses, promoting their grad school roommate over others...the list just grows and grows.

      I share your frustration...note sarcasm....

Please find inner balance and understand that it might not be about you. Also, I can clearly see what "convo" and slant you are attempting to bring to this comment section...it's not working.

I just posted the url http://tinyurl.com/2cxnxm about Larry Sinclair's claim he had oral sex w/Obama during the latter's tenure in the IL State Senate. I have been a Hillary person since the get-go. First she has met most of the world leaders who've been in power since her days in the White House and has a good relationship with them. 2nd, because her health plan covers everyone, and 3rd, because she has been dissected and had every part inspected over & over again and nothing could be found on which to bring her up on charges. Her enemies ae so intensely powerful & hateful that if she could have been run out of DC in shame, they would
have done it & danced gleefully on Pennsylvania Avenue. No she's got no skeletons in her closet, but what does Obama have in his closet? Larry Sinclair? Maybe, but what else. Michelle's claim that she could not
until 2/19/08 be proud of America makes me think back to my 22 years in Washington and I had the rude awkening of learning that a lot of Black folks possess this (what I call) indignant sense of entitlement. I think I found more bigotry and anti-white hate on the part of Blacks than I did the reverse on the part of Whites.
Nonetheless if Obama is nominated, I will support him vs. McCain because I think McCain is thoughtless and mean. Did you hear the anti-lawyer joke he told when he was praising attorney Lindsay Graham for his work with the Iraqi legal community? I think McCain's time behind bars in Viet Nam damaged his psyche and
my opinion is that of a PhD psychologist (me). Thank you for reading this and God bless America.

      Don't be intellectually lazy....lol!

So sorry, but you are waaayyyyy off My Friend. African-Americans, as AMERICAN CITIZENS, feel entitled to ONE thing. FAIR and EQUAL TREATMENT without total prejudice based on skin color and stereotypes...just like most other ethnicities enjoy. That is all.

(Prejudice using the textbook definition....and yes, Mr/ Ms, I do realize that people and animals use visual judgements as a part of inherent survivial mechanisms...I'm referring to social prejudice).

Frankly, your mental health profession certainly doesn't give you insight or confer legitimacy on knowing if most African-Americans feel the way that you claim. As a person with a PhD in health sciences, you should know that sufficient sample size is necessary to extrapolate results accurate to a percent or SD. Using the 2 blacks at your job, or listening to a vagrant yelling on the metro is not indicative of all Black folks.

What I meant was that I am Clinton supporter, but it's interesting that MO is getting looked at the same way Hillary did when she was not "going to stand by her man" and she wasn't going to "stay at home and bake cooies."

    • Posted By: cmugirl @ 02/21/2008 9:54:30 AM

I meant, it's interesting that she rubs me the wrong way, because I am a Clinton supporter because she is a strong woman with good ideas. I want a do-er in the Oval Office, not a preacher.

But this is the same kind of flap we heard about Hillary in 1992 when she didn't want to "stand by her man and stay at home and bake cookies."

HERE'S yOUR pROOF HALLOW. I AM VERy GLAD yOU ASKED THIS QUESTION.
THIS pROVES THAT OBAMA IS THE REAL DEAL SON.

Obama proved persuasive enough that the bill passed both houses of the legislature, the Senate by an incredible 35 to 0. Then he talked Blagojevich into signing the bill, making Illinois the first state to require such videotaping.

Obama didn't stop there. He played a major role in passing many other bills, including the state's first earned-income tax credit to help the working poor and the first ethics and campaign finance law in 25 years (a law a Post story said made Illinois "one of the best in the nation on campaign finance disclosure"). Obama's commitment to ethics continued in the U.S. Senate, where he co-authored the new lobbying reform law that, among its hard-to-sell provisions, requires lawmakers to disclose the names of lobbyists who "bundle" contributions for them.

Taken together, these accomplishments demonstrate that Obama has what Dillard, the Republican state senator, calls a "unique" ability "to deal with extremely complex issues, to reach across the aisle and to deal with diverse people." In other words, Obama's campaign claim that he can persuade us to rise above what divides us is not just rhetoric.

"We recommend that this administration work with Congress, public health officials, the pharmaceutical industry, foreign governments and international organizations to create a permanent framework for curtailing the spread of future infectious diseases.

There were death penalty abolitionists, some of whom worried that Obama's bill, by preventing the execution of innocents, would deprive them of their best argument. Vigorous opposition came from the police, too many of whom had become accustomed to using muscle to "solve" crimes. And the incoming governor, Rod Blagojevich, announced that he was against it.

THIS IS A pERFECT EXAMpLE OF WHAT OBAMA CAN DO AND HAS ALREADy DONE, BRING DIFFENT FACTIONS TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE A COMMON GOAL.

BARAK LETS HIS RECORD TALK FOR HIM. HE COULD HAVE BRAGGED ABOUT ALL THIS. BUT HE HAS STA yed CONSISTENTLy HUMBLE.
