Being any man's "Rock" is full-time job enough, yet Michelle's personal is evolving. It will be intriguing to see how Michelle uses her First Lady position, given the chance. It's doubtful she'll concentrate on updating the china (Nancy Reagan) or making low-key and seemingly infrequent efforts of the appropriate-nice-woman kind (Laura Bush).

The Later Years Bill Clinton, of the Tsunami and other uber-Diplomacy efforts, was becoming admired and beloved in the world. It's sad to see him mis-using his spouse position in attacks, and misstating facts in those attacks, though it's understandable given his loyalties.

I'm hoping Hillary get nominated. I surely missed the eight years of peace and prosperity during Bill Clinton's presidency. This guy Barrack yelling for change, for what? no one knows for sure including him. To me that's really scary if he becomes president. I'll vote McCain for sure if Hillary is not nominated.

Peace & prosperity under Bill Clinton's presidency? Well, it's incredible how selective people's memories are. Yes, there was surplus for few during his term, but you have to give the majority of that credit to the dot.com boom which crashed significantly. To think there'll be another one during Hillary's tenure as president is naive & irresponsible. The Clintons with all their experiences can't run a decent campaign, voted for the war in Iraq, voted for No Child Left Behind, voted for the bancruptcy law, say that they don't take any vote for granted, but don't even bother to small states/caucus states seriously until they know they're in trouble. THAT'S WHAT THE CLINTONS is famous for UNTRUSTWORTHINESS.
I learned a looooooong time ago to NEVER take the Clintons at their words and I'm taking a chance with them anymore.

Michelle Obama is a thoughtful, intelligent & caring person who will make a wonderful First Lady. America will be fortunate indeed, as she will bring a voice that is seriously needed and dispel many of the myths that exist for those folks who drink "hater-aid" on a regular basis. It's interesting, when lies are told, I become even more militant about my vote for Senator Obama, who will be President Obama soon! Thank you....

One more example of how the Obama's only care about Africian Americans insted of ALL Americans! By the way...The white women he's running agaist has done more for civil rights for ALL Americans than he will ever do. She wants all children to get a good education, and health care, not just black children! The Obama's have made this a race about race, not who would be the best person to run this country.

It's very telling to me that the most critical and negative commentaries I read here are also the ones with the worst spelling, grammatical errors and poor phrasing, exposing the "authors" as the morons they are. I feel very embarrassed for them.

The whiite woman supported Barry Goldwater who fought civil rights and the voting rights act. She did well for herself at Walmart, LaFarge, and the Rose Law firm, and at re-writing history.

The comments so far affixed to this candid article are so unworthy of this thoughtful, caring, dignified, and intelligent lady that they demean us all. Is it now de rigueur to castigate the wife of a Presidential candidate? We may have come a long way, but we sure have a way to go.We should all be proud of the accomplishments , dedication, and sacrifices of both Barack and Michelle Obama for the betterment of their fellow man. ..John

First of all, the La Junta food processing plant was closed because it was losing money & TreeHouse Foods could not continue to have it operate that way....most companies can't operate at a loss and continue in business! Not to mention that TreeHouse had five other plants that produced pickles and it was redistributed thru them. The decision to close the La Junta plant was not her's alone, as there are other directors of that company who were involved in the decision, as well as the chairman of the board! As far as Crown and it's Maytag company....are you saying that Senator Obama is directly responsible for a company closing the Galesburg division? Isn't that an incredibly irresponsible remark and just another example of "if you can't find any real dirt on someone, then lie about events that the person had no responsibility for"!!!! Thanks for the lies, but most of America can read and do their own research and find out the truth, which has not been stated in your post "josh62"

Excellent article! Indeed, Michelle and Barack Obama are ideal examples both individually and collectively of what "The American Dream" looks like and is. Both have proven consistently that they are tirelessly deveoted to both family and public service at the expense of monetary gain even when their educational credentials could have afforded them more. I'm proud and honored to support such a fine candidate. The Obama's are what the "First Family" should look like.

Wonderful refreshing article, couple, and family. I am tired of hearing that Barack Obama lacks "experience". I think that Michelle and Barack Obama's experience, values, devotion and respect for self and others is just what we need at this time in our country.

Refreshing article ?! ...I think is a garbage article...In fact it is a "standard level of the most media press", which fighting only for the corporate interests to bring into White House that "peon" ...ease manipulated...!

    OBAMA LOOSES JOBS FOR MINORITIES
Ms. Obama, VP Chicago Hosp, that charges minorities 6 times as much, isn???t cold hearted enough; she also caused hundreds to loose their 11.hr jobs, to be more efficient she said! In 05, elected to the BOD Westchester-based TreeHouse Foods, she received $12,000 and $33,000 from a subsidiaries, in Nov announced closing its La Junta, plant, that claimed the jobs of 153 workers, most of them Hispanic! Huge blow to a rural town jobs paid a starting wage of $11hr, Company pays top execs like MICHELLE OBAMA tens of millions a year while destroying middle-class America. Raises the question not only about corporate values but about Barrack Obama's own values. Specifically, while he bashes Wal-Mart, why does his wife, make $45,000 and up a year serving on the board of Chicago comp that pays her a very hefty amount of money while laying off mostly minority workers in economically deprived areas? No. 1 customer is Wal-Mart???
Obamas attack on middle class and minorities- The Crowns and employees of their family-run holding company have given at least $195,000 to Obama's presidential campaign. Maytag shut the Galesburg plant after Labor Day 2004 Union member say senator did little to save jobs in the blue-collar town of 37,000. Obama connection to Maytag: Lester Crown, company's director???s records show, has raised tens of thousands of dollars for Obama's campaigns. Maytag shut the Galesburg plant after Labor Day 2004.
Black voters are choosing black candidate based on skin color not merit and not what he can do to help our failing country. What a serious shame...we are giving away another election. Thank the media! Obamas speeches address just black voters. The same person who claims he is not running on race? It sure isn???t experience or who is best to run this country. Don???t believe it will work in the general election He truly had divided voters since SC win. No one is so naive as not to think that black resentment towards whites could render Senator Obama unelectable. NOW IT???S TIME FOR THE MEDIA TO SCRUTINIZE OBAMA LIKE THEY HAVE DONE TO EVERYOTHER NON-BLACK CANDIDATE. MEDIA HAS FAILED AMERICAN VOTERS

Is this your constant mantra???? Maybe you should change, change, change whatever disc you've been playing and try a different tune!!! It sounds like you know too much about drugs to be a "holyroller"!!!
      OBAMA 08....YEAH!

  • Posted By: GTX13 @ 02/18/2008 8:58:12 AM

Yes ! With 0(Zero) experience he's good for all Obama's parrots which make an intoxicated stupid propaganda to exist, until... his "boat is going to the bottom" !!

it would seem to me that no matter how it plays out if he wins he won't have the support of everyone. and i feel we well lose and if he lose's the black card well come out. and we won't have the support that our county needs. and therewell be outbreaks of touble i feel this campaign is not good for our county. its sad it but we are not ready for a woman to run for office nerther. and we don't need another clinton in office and if you get her you'll get him.and it's sorry this is all we have to pick from in the dem.party. i felt john edwards would have been a good pick .but there you go the only thing all of us can do is pray very hard about this and vote . god bless

This was a great article on a rather unique spouse of a unique candidate. It offers good insight into who she is for public consummation. Moreover, I think having a first lady with obvious class, great education, and who is a family oriented professional woman. She is actually a great model for the many contemporary women today.

I think being first lady and mother of 2 (without much help) will be a tough road for her but she can do it probably.

  • Posted By: neppy @ 02/18/2008 1:12:09 AM

I It's commendable that Michelle Obama puts her kids first and wants to sheild her husband from negative response but a President cannot do that. Dad will be away, she will have to be meek at diplomatic functions where her gaffes could cause insult. I hear a person still striving for validation in her life, only now it's through her husband's candidacy. Hillary has been all over the world representing us as former first lady, she can be a great President too!

Some of the negative comments posted reflect the despair and distrust that permeates american life. I guess gunmen walking into classrooms and opening fire, sex and child pornography prevalent and available at the touch of a finger on the internet, the disconnect that we feel from our neighbors and co-workers, and the lack of a sense of shame and responsibility for reprehensible behavior....have left so many of us in america clawing at one another like crabs in a bucket. We dont have heroes anymore. I have been thinking of the men in history who offered hope: Jesus, Abe lincoln, John and robert kennedy, Martin Luther King. And looked what happened to all of them. Maybe the real blackness we should fear is that which lies in our collective hearts. How dare one have the audacity to hope...

Thank you for this very interesting article. I greatly admire Michelle Obama and the sacrifice she and her family are making to support Barack Obama in his campaign for President. She will be an excellent First Lady and an inspiration to girls and women all over the world.

    • Posted By: GTX13 @ 02/18/2008 12:11:58 AM

Yes ! It's not only a sacrifice !! It is just a real suicide !!!
