Another Failed State?

JJJJJ.....i'm not sure of the different Albanians....as was under the impression that they were all the same..in there appearance and personalitites...I dont dislike the Albanians, I just dont think they are justified in their cause. What's next? Are they going to claim parts of Macedonia and Greece? Are we going to give parts of the United States to the Mexicans?

sorry everyone for the multiple posts of the same comment...I'm new. The Serbian people are a very proud people, and I dont see them rolling over. I think this could get pretty ugly. The policy makers who are supporting an independent Kosovo have never been there, therefore they do not know the dyanmics of the region and are terribly underestimating Serb nationalism.

number1yankee - interesting perspective and thank you for serving in the military. I have heard that the Albanians from Albania are very different than the "ethnic" Albanians of Kosovo. I have also seen that the Albanians from southern Albania are much more intelligent and better looking than the Albanian villagers in northern Albania. I even found that Albanians in the south much better looking than their "muslim" (so say the southerners) countrymen. Albanians in the south have more Greek features while those in the north have big head and little bodies (kind of like Serbs with the big head thing). Sorry if these descriptions offend anyone, just an observation and what many Albanians in the south have expressed via my conversations with them.

My point is that there is not just ONE Albanian, but many variants of an Albanian - just like any other group of people.

I served in Kosovo on the peacekeeping mission in 2003. I think that independence would be a terrible precedent to set and could disrupt other countries in the region...such as Macedonia...where the Albanians migrated and bred like rabbits. I don think that having 5 to 10 children per family gives anyone the right to territory.

Republic of Kosovo will flourish. All this rubbish that there are lots of criminals and organised crime (in Kosovo), I can assure you that is no more than in any other country in Europe.
Kosovo was ruled, occupied by a bunch of criminals (Serbian government) who were working closely with these criminals in Kosovo.
Now we have a state, we will have our own police and army, our government.

When it comes to crime : There is no low life criminals like Albanians, selling their own children to western couple who can't have children are you telling me that's the world crime, I don't think so It is a low life crime.

zrak - the Albanians I know in Greece (whom I personally met while in Athens) are accepted in Greece because they look Greek and speak perfect Greek. They are accepted because Greeks think they are Greek. They are also accepted because they have worked hard to build their new life in a country that provides a little more opportunity than the one of their citizenship.

How would a Greek know if any Albanian or anyone else has been baptized? Do they walk around with a picture of their baptism on their shirt?

The Albanians I know have always been a part of the Orthodox faith, but under communism they were forbidden to practice Christianity and those in the south of Albanian were forbidden to speak Greek in the villages where the grandparents spoke Greek only. Can you imagine not being allowed to speak to your grandparents in their own tongue?

zrak - when I see people post like you do it is just a Muslim vs Christianity contest. To say that Albania is Muslim or Christian is a farse. Albanian is a recovering communist country of aethiests trying to rediscover their past. The past is Communist, before that Islam and before that Christian. Albanians need to choose their own way, not be forced to reconvert to Islam under the new money and pressure by Saudi Arabian and not listen to the imans of hate who import their hatred. AND Albania needs to secure its borders to stop drug and women trafficing and not keep the Kosovers out (Albania need peaceful people and not the fighters of Kosovo).

Without America the world would be a darker place. The American people are the most charitable people on the planet - giving to complete strangers with different skin colors and religions. There is a list of states that recognized Kosovo as a state on the 1st day.... USA, UK, FRANCE, ITALY, GERMANY, ALBANIA....... I should say no more in case someone may have a hart attack
